If you haven't already seen these iWeb video tutorials, they can be useful ~ this one shows the QT +Poster Frame+ slider being set up:

  • Slideshow Export over QuickTime didn't work

    Hi,
today i try after a long time (and first time with iPhoto 8) an export over QuickTime. But the first time ever in my iPhoto history i have a big problem who i can't fix and i didn't found any informations here what i can do.
So... If i create an new album as a slideshow, i can put a lot of images who i like in it. But if o try to export this stuff, it's doesn't work. A short time before the export are finished, iPhoto stop the process without an message and suggest me, that all looks fine. But if i try to locate the file on my Picture/iPhoto Slideshow folder, i see nothing. The QuickTime file is missing.
Than i read, that i can try to export/share the Slideshow with iDVD. I try this, and oh man... I got an QuickTime file in my folder, but iDVD say it's not a movie file.
So i try it again to export another slideshow (my final one) to iDVD to got an QuickTime file but now i see nothing again in the folder. After my second try i got the message, that i didn't have enough space on my HD. The info was right. From 7 GB of free space on my internal HD a few minutes ago i have now only 500 MB free... Where all the space is gone?
I quit iPhoto and got my space back, thanks... But the export still doesn't work really good.
Hey, it's nice to watch pics in iPhoto, but it will be also nice to share some pics as a special slideshow outside from iPhoto.
If anyone have an idea what i can do?
Oh, by the way... After my first steps i try to install iPhoto completely new and i removed all external plugins... But nothing works better.

It could be an issue of a file or folder inside the iPhoto application having it's access turned off to you somehow. It's happened before with certain buttons not showing or working.
Open the application, select, Control-click and select "show package contents". Then look for any item that has a red circle with a "-" in it attached to it. If you do that means you don't have access. Select it and bring up the Info window (Command-I) to change access. If that doesn't work you might have to reinstall the application from the installation disk that came with your Mac or from the iLife disks (whichever is appropriate).

  • Turning image over in 'tiled' format to show new image

I'm trying to produce an effect where an image is broken down into an 8X10 grid of tiles, which individually turn over to show another image (basically trying to acheive an effect similar to that which is used in the Muppet Show DVDs, where the tiles flip over one by one to show another image). I thought that I would be able to use the "Fun with a Photo" project that Patrick Sheffield kindly provided (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1216525&#1216525) that sliced a photo up in ImageReady, then produced a mosaic of that picture in Motion, which was then able to be tweaked to do all sorts of fun motions.
I thought I would be able to apply the Basic 3D filter to the replicated image sequence, and that each tile would flip over independently. However, in trying this, the entire picture flips over as one unit, rather than 80 smaller units. (this is happening when I apply the filter to Replicator or to the layer itself. If I try to apply it to the item being replicated, Motion crashes)
Any ideas on what I should be doing?

    Patrick:
If I apply it to the item itself (the Quicktime created image sequence) I get a weird result: it doesn't start out at 0 degrees (ie: showing the entire image in tiled/viewable format) but the tiles get warped (some seem to be turning, others just squeezed). This happens regardless of what the X, Y or Z settings are (at default or at, say, Y=180 keyframed to occurr 4 seconds into the project).

  • Overlay a still image over video.

I am editing a lot of video and have a need to lay an image over the video, like down the left column or even across the bottom.
What I am doing is editing footage of a poker game we filmed and I want to be able to display the players' hole cards like they do on TV.
Does anyone have a solution for this? I've looked and looked with no success.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

In iMovie 08, when you overlay a photo over video, it takes the whole screen. iMovie 9, which comes out later this month, should have the ability to do what you are describing.
Also, if you have QuickTime Pro, you can do this as well. QuickTime Pro is not as intuitive as iMovie so get a good book to help. One such book available from frequent forum participant [QuickTime Kirk|http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/book/index.html]

  • Using Cap6, need to create menu screen that allows user to click a button, branch to other screens, and return to main menu. When returning to the main screen the button that was clicked will be grayed out or inactive.  How do I do this?  I created image

I am trying to emulate a piece of equipment.  I need the user to be able to click on specific buttons that will take the user to another screen(s).  After viewing those screens the user will be directed back to the main screen where the user would know which buttons had been pressed and which still needed to be pressed.  I create image buttons with the 3 states - that worked except when the user returns the slide is reset and so the user does not see the 3rd state of the button.  How can I get that 3rd state to stay after user returns to the main screen?

    Hi Elizabeth,
Since I just did this morning what you are currently attempting to do, I thought I'd share my method.  I must provide a disclaimer and tell you that I am not an expert in Captivate advanced actions--like you, I am still figuring them out.  However, I am happy to share here anything I have learned thus far.
First, here is what my initial slide looks like (see interaction slide below).  I created all of the icons (including the 'grayed out' icon on the second screenshot) in a few minutes using Adobe Illustrator. The icons have been imported as custom multi-state buttons so that I could have the desired effect when the user hovers over the image--the yellow 'explore' flag appears only when the mouse is over the icon. When the learner click either image, they are sent to the corresponding slide.  Once both slides are viewed, a 'continue' button will appear at the base of the screen (something I've not figured out--I sent an email to Lieve begging for some guidance).
    The initial slide (interaction slide):
Second, here is a depiction of what happens when the learner returns to the interactive slide from the content slide (see image below):  Once the learner visits the 'Battery Content' slide and then returns to the interaction slide, the images have changed.  The multi-state button is hidden (through the advanced action), the replacement image (the image with the completed banner over it) is shown, and a hidden click box to allow the user to return to the previously visited page (just in case they desire to do that) is "shown" to allow navigation since the button is no longer there (because it is magically hidden).
    Content Slide 1:
Remember, there may be an easier way to do this in Captivate.  I am using Cp6 for this module.
    1. I created two user variables as follows
    Name: v_batteryExplore
    Value: 0
    Name: v_fuelExplore
    Value: 0
    2. I created an advanced action for each as shown below (showing only one--duplicate the first and change the names to match the content):
Credit: I learned these steps from @Lilibiri and Dr. Pooja Jaisingh!
I have also noticed that it matters where the buttons are located on the timeline.  It seems best to have buttons above all other content.  Not sure why, but I have had images not appear when I have not done this.
And the last step you do not want to forget; you need to remember to tell Captivate to use the action.
As a final note, remember that the elements you do not want to appear on the initial screen must not be initially visible.  Make sure to set them to invisible by removing the checkmark in the 'Visible in output' box located next to the button name.  In my case, the image of the completed battery and the invisible button to allow a revisit of content was initially hidden.  Here is a final screenshot of my timeline for this interaction.  I hope this information helps you!

  • Animated gifs: How to transition (fade) 1 image over another

Fireworks noob, trying to make an animated gif in CS4, reading/experimenting for hours, searching FW help documentation, Youtube tutes, Google - can't find how to pull off this basic fade.
6 unique but same sz. jpgs in my .png (default FW worksheet doc), each a different "state" in the states palette. Got the basic timing down, all 6 pop up one after another, but I want transitions - #1 fades into #2, 2 into 3 etc. - possibly 3-4 step fade.
    How?
Where are the other transitions/effects hidden?
Doesn't FW have some kind of animation timeline feature where you can click through frame by frame?
Ready to go back to Gifbuilder...
    TIA!

Gif animations are for poster-like images. They don't work successfully with JPEGs because the file size ends up enormously large. The best program to use for whast you want to do is Flash. That said, Fireworks has an animation wizard that will fade images for you. Select an image and choose Modify > Symbol > Convert to Symbol. A dialog box will pop up enabling you to choose which type of symbol you wish to create. Choose Animation. From there, just follow the wizard. To fade one image over the other, you'll need to convert the images to symbols and animate them on different states  (frames). Symbol 1 on state 1. Symbol 2 on state 10. Symbol 3 on state 20, for example.

  • Display Image over Datagrid

    Hi,
I need to display an image over the Datagrid exactly centered horizontally and vertically. The Datagrid can be of different height and width at different instances. Is there a way to achieve this?
I used backgroundImage style property, however the image goes behind the datagrid content. I wish, there was a foregroundImage property which could have served my purpose.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Uma

I would use a group and keep them seperate
remember the z index is dependent in the order you create them in mxml

  • And again - how do I superimpose an image over a moving image?

So I am beginning to work this all out...
I have cropped an image using motion which is looking great, except that the image (which is someone's head) is square because I used 'crop' in motion, any ideas how to make the edges curved?
The next step is working out how to keep the superimposed image over the head of the person in the video if they move? ie so it tracks the original image in movement?
Thank you all for your help so far, I never expected help like this so quickly!

Hard to follow you when you're creating new threads on the same topic...
First of all - don't use Motion to crop - that's easily done in FCP - if you want to follow the edges of the head, use the Mask tool in Motion.
Second, there's a video tutorial for using the tracking tools in Motion here:

Now how can I turn this into an image If this output is correct?

    HUH?
I got the one to send the images over the network. I'm now trying to get the exact feed of the webcam and sending that over the network. This is alot more difficult to accomplish but I did see where I messed up my process of sending the images was just having to save the file then open it up put it in a byte array then send that over the network to the client. Once it was at the client i was able to re-construct it and throw it up in the frame. The only problem was lag. So this tells me it would be much more faster if instead of saving the file to send the client and having to reconstruct the image I should just send the webcam feed i used to make the image.
eh, I guess I didn't need any help.
Hey no offense or anything but you really have to learn how to spell better.

  • HTML tag place over QuickTime

Is there a way to place a HTML tag (i.e. div) over QuickTime? I have a drop down menu that is hiding behind QuickTime. The div tag that QuickTime is contained displays underneath the menu. Formerly, I could use wmode="transparent", but that no longer works. I have tried using the z-index, but this has also not worked.

What you posted was (or was interpreted by this forum as) this:
    Here is the tag:<br />
    <img then src="then" ”URL”><br />
    <br />
    This tag does not work
I don't know what format eBay accepts, but your image can be displayed in these forums using this code:
    <IMG SRC="/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/105/10540553-1.gif"/>
    ...which is displayed like this:
And if you need to scale it down, try this:
    <IMG SRC="/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/105/10540553-1.gif" HR WIDTH="50%"/>
eBay may also accept hyperlinked images using this format:
    <A HREF="http://www.bcoutback.com" target="_blank"><IMG SRC="/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/105/10540553-1.gif" title=" Will open in new window "/></A>
By the way, if you need to post HTML in these forums such that it is not interpreted, "escape" the HTML first via this site:
    http://www.htmlescape.net/htmlescape_tool.html
And before posting images or escaped HTML in these forums, switch from Compose mode to Preview mode to verify that it displays as intended.

  • Adding Ken Burns to Image over Video

I've created a project where during certain points during the video there are images over the video so you don't have to stare at the speaker forever. The audio still plays and you see the image, but I do not have the option to apply a ken burns to the image because it is inserted more as a title rather than a still image.
Does anyone know how I can apply a ken burns effect to images placed over video in the title track?

Yes, this can be done. It may be easiest if you start over.
First, drag the video clip with the speaker to your project by highlighting the clip with a "yellow rubber band" in the Event and dragging it to the project. Now, without changing the "Yellow Rubber Band", use Command-Shift-Drag to drag just the sound from the selected Event clip to the project. Drag it to the beginning of the original clip.
Now you have a sound track pinned to the original clip, and you can set the volume of the video clip to zero using the audio settings. The Green audio clip will still play.
Now you can select (for example) 4 second lengths of the video and right click (or command click) and select DELETE SELECTION. This will eliminate 4 seconds (for example) of the video. Replace it by dragging in a photo from the Photo Browser. Set the length of the photo to 4 seconds, and set the Ken Burns settings as you wish. You should now have a video with a ken burns style photo inserted playing over the original sound track.

  • Create image which is filled in from another image*

Create image which is filled in from another image?   How do I blend two images - using the outline of one and the coloring or background of the other?

Everything you want to do and more is available through the use of Photoshop Layers.
It's kind of beyond the scope of the forum to teach basic Photoshop layer usage, but you can find many tutorials online, and Photoshop itself comes with decent documentation (Help).
You can, for example, open one image, paste or place another over it as a second layer, then you can blend the two through many different Blending options, as well as 0 to 100% blending percentage.  You can even use transparency or masking to make parts of a layer transparent, opaque, or anything in between.
Using selection and refinement tools, you can even put subjects on different backgrounds...

  • Unable to create image buffer after RAM preview

Running into an odd and frustrating error. Built a comp using the new Ray-traced 3D renderer and now I'm regretting being an early adopter big time with all the problems I've been encountering with it. The latest comes whenever I do a longer RAM preview in an attempt to watch the whole duration of my comp. It will get to about 170 frames or so, at which point I've interrupted by pressing spacebar because I don't need to see all the way to the end of my work area (around 220 frames). It'll play the RAM preview back fine, and even loop it, but as soon as I stop playback, I get this error message: "After Effects warning: Unable to create image buffer." There's only one button: "okay" and as soon as I click it the same error pops up again and it will never go away, forcing me to close AE from the task manager. I've taken to saving before every RAM preview like I used to do with Flash before previewing my buggy swfs for fear I'll lose all my work after previewing. Any ideas about what might be causing this?
Some more details about my comp:
    1920x1080 @ 29.97
    Ray-traced 3D
About 70 3D layers (I'm guessing this is my downfall - new renderer not designed for this many layers?)

Yeah, some buffer is very likely not flushing when you interrupt the preview and then there is no more memory on the graphics hardware. Consider setting the work area and your preview options to use only the work area. if it finishes the preview "correctly", it may not suffer the issue. Beyond that - raytracing doesn't/ shouldn't care about the number of items. The math is such, that it makes no difference whether you render a million polygons or just one. Of course there are still limitations due to the GPU dependency, but I doubt you ever truly exhaust the cards' geometry buffers. Compared to pixel data that is a small amount...

  • Quicktime 7 Pro is not installing over Quicktime 7

I have Quicktime 7.7.6 for Windows installed on my computer.

Entering the registration merely unlocks the Pro features of QuickTime Player 7. It doesn't replace it with a different version.
