Creating Infocube

Hi,
I am trying to create infocube in SAP BI 7.0 but facing a lot of problem.As I donu2019t have screen shot to
refer. I am referring SAP BW composed by fufu but it is mainly focused on sap bw old version.
Can any one send me all the steps along with screen shot. I am looking for all steps

Hi,
Creating infocube in 7.0 is almost similar the only difference in 3.5 u have to create update rule & transfer rule in 7.0 DTP is used for transformation.
if u mention the errors u faced while creating infocube then it is easy to find out the solution.

    while loading transaction data from flat file ...i have a problem with infocube creation..i have created datasource sucessfully..iam able to c  data in preview also..but while creating infocube iam unable to see my infoobjects in the mibble panel..wat could be the reason ? and also iam unable to activate infocube...

           Some times the infoobjects even activated and kept in dimensions of the cube they will be inactive and when u are activating the cube will not get actviated.... i hope u can see the inactive infoobjects in the panel after u try to activate the infocube..
    try one thing if u can see the inactive infoobjects then remove them and create new infobjects and use them and then try to activate.... i came across the same scenario ....i solved like this ...
    as u r saying u already used in the datasource please create new infoobjects which are inactive with a differnet name and change in the datasource(delete the data if present in datasource)  and add the new infoobjects in the cube and then activate.....

  • Error when create InfoCube

    From Workbench -->  Modeling --> InfoProvider, I create a InfoCube.
    I also added Key Figure for this InfoCube. When I "Check" the cube, I get error:" You must define 1 - 13 characteristics dimension." The cube becomes Inactive.
    I have created a characteristics from InfoObjects folder. But the cube does not pick it. How can I add a characteristics dimension?

    What is the rule involved while creating a Infocube?

    Actually theres no rule as such involved when u create an infocube..it all depends on the type of infocube u are creating
    1. standard (used for staging)
    2. Real time (transactional)
    1. You need to create an infocube
    2. create the dimensions
    3. See to it that the infocube contains atleast one key figure
    4. create a datasource...select the transaction data
    5. Create infopackage
    6. Create transformation
    7. Create DTP.

  • Creating Infocube in APO - RFC between BW & APO is Mandatory..??

    Does the RFC connection between APO & BW system is required for creating an Active InfoCube in APO System...??
    Or Only RFC connection between APO & ECC system is enough..!!

    It depends on your source system. If the source system is not ECC and let us say you want the data to be loaded from a flat file, then you need not have RFC connections setup for creating an active info cube. If you are creating an info cube in APO BW which will get data from external BW, then yes, you need RFC connections between them.

    hi all,
    am stuck up here.
    am creating a new infocube.
    created an infocube structure, maintained a time charac., created a dimension n wen I ty to activate the infocube itz givin a pop-up window titled  <b>Overiew of logs</b> and the msg as <b>not all objects of infocube xxx activated</b>.
    Can someone plz help me with this.

    Do activate all the InfoObjects that are used in Infocube and try to activate it again.

    Hi Andy,
    we can create only one cube with same technical name in one BW system, may be you are talking about $INFOCUBE folder which contains infocubes, if my assumption is correct, if you want to create one more infocube under $INFOCUBE folder, you need to create infocube in BW system with RSA1 Transaction code, under infoarea (new or existing one) -> right click Create Infocube.

    T.code - :MC18 u2013 create field catalog
    1. Characteristic Catalog
    Application-01-Sales and Distribution, 02-Purchasing, 03-Inventory Controlling, etc..
    Catalog category 1. Characteristic catalog, 2. Key figures catalog 3. Date catalog Select characteristic catalog and enter, click on characteristic select the source table and it will be display the relevant source field and select the source field, copy + close, copy.
    Save, similarly create key figures catalog
    T.code : MC21 u2013 create infostructure
    Example u2013
    Inforstructure : S789
    Application u2013 01
    Choose characteristic select the catalog, select the fields, copy + close Choose key figures catalog select the key figures ,copy + close, save and generate
    T.code u2013 MC24 u2013 create updating
    Infostructure : S789

    T.code u2013 LBW0, choose generate updating and execute then choose activate / deactivate and execute
    BW side - create infopackage and schedule the package with delta update.
    First time if your scheduling the infopackage -in R/3 side T.code :MC25 -Udating set to No update,insted of selecting the update V1,V2,V3.
    If your doing the Delta update:in R/3 side T.code :MC25-Updating set to either V1 or V2 or V3. and the to T.code :LBW0 -Select the radio button Active/deactivate and Execute.
    and schedule the infopackage with delta update.
    Modules for LIS : SD,MM, PP,QM.
    Deltas for LIS:
    After setting up the LIS environment, 2 transparent tables and 1 extract structure is generated for this particular info structure. Within transaction SE11 you can view the tables u2018SnnnBIW1u2019, u2018SnnnBIW2u2019 and the structure u2018SnnnBIWSu2019 and the InfoStructure itself u201ASnnnu2018
    The tables S5nnnBIW1 & SnnnnBIW2 are used to assist the delta update process within BW.
    Extract structure u2018SnnnnBIWCu2019 is used as an interface structure between OLTP InfoStructure and BW
    The OLTP system has automatically created an entry in the control table u2018TMCBIWu2019. Within transaction u2018SE16u2019 youu2019ll see, that for your particular InfoStructure the field u2018BIW activeu2019 has the value u2018Xu2019 and the field u2018BIW statusu2019 is filled with value u20181u2019 (refers to table SnnnBIW1).
    The orgininal LIS update program u201ARMCX#### will be enhanced within the form routines u201Aform Snnnbiw1_update_....u2018 and u201Aform Snnnbiw2_update
    With the transaction u2018SE38u2019 youu2019ll see at the end of the program starting at line 870 / 1006, that the program is enhanced within a u2018BIW delta updateu2019 coding
    Within the flag u201AActivate/Deactivateu2018 the update process into the delta tables (SnnnBIW1/Sn5nnBIW2) is swichted on/off. In the table u201ATMCBIWu2018 is defined, which table is active for delta update.
    Note: The delta updating is client dependent !

    I have small issue regarding creation of info cube. currently using BI 7.0, I have created generic datasouce in R/3 and same replicated in BI. now i want to create infocube. but bit confused whether it has to be created through DTP or regular method of creating transfer and update rule for cube. your feedback will be highly apppricated.

    Hi ,,
    After done the Genric Datasource in R3, If u want extract that data from R3 to bw side. First we need Replicate the datasource.
    ->> Once datasource has replicated .
    -> We need to assign the datasource to infosource if we are using in 3.5.
    -> if it is BI7.0  after desinged the Cube or DSO.
    -> we need to do transformation  (3.5 transfer rule and update rule we are using that to first assign datasource to infosource).
    -> here we need to map the fields for both DSO & Data Source. (Creating Transformation)
    -> After done transformation we need to run the infopackage . . (Because still data is avialble in datasource if u run the infopackage the data comes from source system to Data source (Here Datasource is nothing but PSA).
    -> still data is available for PSA.
    -> if u want load data from PSA to Target (DSO/Cube),
    -> we need to run the DTP. (When u execute the DTP the data fetches from PSA to data targets.)
    -> still data is available for the Target(DSO)
    If u want to load data from DSO to Cube.
    We need to do the datamartstatus.
    ->->
        When u want to load data from DSO to Cube.
    -> ->Here no need to run the infopackage.
    -> Here we need run the transformation (just for mapping the fields (ODS & CUBE)).
    -> After done the transformation
    -> we need to execute the DTP ....
    once DTP has done successfull the data moved from DSO to Cube.

    1.How to see particular standard info cube suitable for reporting.
    If you have the name of the Infocube. Go to RSA1 transaction. Selecct Infoproviders in the left pane. Click on Find--> enter the cube name you want to search
    Standard cube starts with 0(zero), whereas Customized cube starts with Z.
    2. How to implement in dev. If standard info cube is not exactly suitable then what to do means can u make changes to standard info cube(I hope it wont possible)
    I dont think you ca make changes to standard cubes. If you want to make any changes, copy the standard cube(If u right click on cube, we have a option of copy) & so the changes in the cusomized cube.
    3.how to create customized info cubes.
    Just goto RSA1-->select infoprovider in the left pane.
    In the right pnae, rightclick-->create Infocube. Infocube is created!

  • Logical Partition of infocube

    We have a cube logical partitioned by sales org.  We now would like to add additional sales org's to the list. Is this possible??  Currently with data in the cube it is blocked.  Does anyone know steps to re-logical partition a cube??  With/or without data re-loading?  Any options at the database level (oracle)?

    Hi,
    Yes that is correct you cant do cube partitioning with existing data.
    Another important thing is based upon selection conditions only you can do the partitioning.  There are two selection conditions they are as follows.
                   1. 0CALMONTH
                   2. 0FISCAL YEAR PERIOD
    if these two time characteristics were not used in the cube means you can't partition the cube. 
    STEPS TO PARTITION THE INFOCUBE:
    for example if you have Sales and Distribution cube you want to do logical partitioning on that cube. 
    we have to create infocube with same structure ( this we can do by giving the technical name of the cube in copy from option) at the time of creation of cube. Activate the cube and come back.
    then you should create update rules for that cube.
    select the first cube right click on it choose the option generate export datasource.
    the system will finish generation process.
    select the infosource option on the left side of the AWB.
    in that we have DATAMART select it choose refresh icon. 
    you get the infosource with datasource assignment.
    select the data source right click on it choose create infopackage.
    it will take you to the maintain infopackage screen. 
    here you need to select the datatarget tab and select the target into which the data need to be updated.
    schedule it and start.
    now manage the data target and check the data has been updated or not.
    after doing all this process go to infoprovider select the first cube delete the data.
    now depending upon your requirement do the partitioning.
    double click on the cube it will take you to the edit infocube screen from the menu bar select extras it will display the partitioning option select it.
    then it will popup one small wizard showing the time characteristics based upon your requirement choose which ever you want check that box and continue the process.

    (4) But after that I am not able to "Create Data Transfer Process"  for this Virtual Infoprovider . When I try to create DTP the DTP type available for selection is "Scheduled" where as per the documentation I need to create DTP of DTP type "DTP for Direct Access".This DTP type I donot see.
    Is it a problem with the BW configuration or some user error.Any suggestions which may help would be realy appreciated.

    when i try to execute the query it taking lot of time and this query there no complex query also .i followed these are steps   to improve the performance still not good . but my cube is contain almost 6 crore records

    2,every day we are deleting the indexes and creating the indexes .
    3.when i try to partioing its giving error message the properties 0FISCVARNT should be constant .when i try change the properties it is disabled.can you please tell me how to enable this properties
            actually the data is coming from the ODS . i plan split diffent years of data like 2006,2007,2008.after that i plan create infocubes each year and finally execute the queries on multicueb for underlying each year of infocube data.is it good design or i need change design parameter.can you please guide me on this issues

    Partitioning infocube with multiple fiscal variants
    To partition the cube double click the cube this will take you to the definition of the cube. Click on the extras button at the top of the screen. you will get a dropdown, there you can see Partition option, click on that you will get another window there you all time chars select on which you want to partition and continue.
    you will get another popup window there you have to give Range.
    When you activate the cube fact tble will be created in DB with number of partitions corresponding to your Range.
    While you do this there should be no data in the cube.
