Creating jdbc connection pool in weblogic 8.x server using oracle database
Hi
i am having oracle 9.2.0 and weblogic 8.1. i am new to oracle and jdbc connection pool. can any one explain how to make connection pool in weblogic.
what will be the host name, port number??
can any one explain
regards,
sekar.r
The host name is the name or IP address of the machine running Oracle.
The port number is the port the DBMS is listening on for connection requests.

Welogic 9.2 managed jdbc connection pool monitoring section not displaying server name. Can you please let me know how can i achive this
Hi,
It happens if the Connectivity is Lost b/w DataBase & WLS Server...In that case in the WLS AdminConsole---DataSource---Monitoring Tab you wont see even the Testing Page with valid datasource to test it.
So please make sure that the N/W connectivity proper....One more thing you can try:
<h3><font color=red>Test-1</font></h3>
You can use *“weblogic.Admin”* utility to Enable and Disable the Pool (DataSource) Just to Confirm whether the dataSource is actually active or not::
Step1). run *"setWLSEnv.sh"* first in the same Shell prompt....then do the following:
Step2). To suspend:
java weblogic.Admin -url t3://localhost:7001 -username weblogic -password weblogic SUSPEND_POOL YourDataSourceName
Step3). To re-enable:
java weblogic.Admin -url t3://localhost:7001 -username weblogic -password weblogic RESUME_POOL YourDataSourceName
To test whether you are getting any Exception or Error while doing this....If yes u are getting any Error or exception then It means there May be some Database connectivity issue...
<h3><font color=red>Test-2</font></h3>
Please use the following Utility to Test the Database connectivity from your WLS Server box:
<font color=maroon>
java -classpath /opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2/weblogic92/server/lib/weblogic.jar -Dbea.home=/opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2 utils.dbping ORACLE_THIN DbUserName DBPassword somethingDbUrl.Something.net:1521:dbInstance
</font>
Syntax:
java -classpath /opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2/weblogic92/server/lib/weblogic.jar -Dbea.home=/opt/app/bea/weblogic92mp2 utils.dbping ORACLE_THIN <DBUserName> <DBPassword> <DBURL>
The above utilty will test the DB Connectivity ...you need to run it from your WLS server Box...

JDBC CONNECTION POOL FOR WEBLOGIC 8.1 TO ORACLE 8.1.6
I am having problems with my connection pool. When I try to use the classes12 driver I get periodic TNS:connection closed errors and I can not set my initial pool size very high because one will fail with this error. When I try to use the ojdbc14 driver I get a character set not supported error. I am using the nls_charset12.jar file
I am running weblogic 8.1 sp2. I am connecting to an Oracle 8.1.6 database.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, thanks for your assistance. Here is the log dump.You should add a 1-second login delay for the pool. (loginDelaySeconds=1).
Oracle can get swamped and ocasionally fail valid connection requests if
too many are sent in a short time, such as when a pool is being initially
populated. This setting will put a delay between successive connection
requests, and should solve the problem.

You can not create Admin MBean on managed server. Managed server can
have only cached copies of Admin MBeans with type ConfigMBean.
Could you show us what you do @ ConnectionPoolStartupWl6?

Error while creating JDBC connection pool for MSSQL database
Hi,
From my windows m/c, I am trying to configure a connection pool to connect to
an MSSQL database on another m/c. While setting the targets, i get the error :-

I have added the path of the jars for the driver in the classpath.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.Hi. Read the weblogic startup script, and follow how it creates
a classpath argument for the server. You must get the driver jars
into that classpath.

JDBC connection pools problems: weblogic doesn't release connections
Hi all,
we use Weblogic 5.1 in conjunction with Content Server 3.6 and Oracle
8.1.6;
We have this strange problem:
Calling a page the connections, in the content server connection pool,
grows up till the maximum. We think the problem is that Weblogic
doesn't release used connections.
Does anybody can help us? Did anybody had the same problem?
Best Regards,
Marcello VillaniHi. I'd have to see the code. When a pool connection is closed, it gets
back into the pool. Until it's closed, it doesn't.

Periodic Report genration in Weblogic server using Oracle database and EJB3
Hello All,
I have to generate reports periodically, when periodicity for report generation is inserted into database(Oracle 11g in my case) using EJB3 entity bean from application server(Weblogic 11g). Immediately on insertion i have to start generation reports in csv format and save these files into the application server directory. My application server and Database are running on different machine.Okay, good luck with that. When you have an actual programming problem, feel free to come back and ask for help.

Reg: JDBC Connection Pool
Hi,
When will the parameters Waiters, Waiter high Watermark and Longest Wait(seconds) vary for JDBC Connection Pools in Weblogic 5.1? I find this to be zero always in the AdminJDBC info page.
Thanks
Sundarprocess limit on oracle database is controlled by
parameter process which is the maximum threshold for maximum number of processes database can have.
obviously there is os process threshold above it
may be you can have increases connection limit in pool .. but need to properly close connections when done

Problem
database url is generated based on SID
eg: jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:SID
Solution
(generate seperate url for SERVICE NAME)
jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521/SERVICENAME
------------------------It is so clear: host not found error for network connection and the other SID servcie name not found means your oracle instance name is not up. check with srvctl status for given servcie name or node, else check CRS_Stat -t if you are using RAC.

Weblogic 7.0 , MySQL 3.23 JDBC Connection Pools
i am using weblogic 7.0 and MySQL 3.23 and right now my objective is to create,
configure and test a JDBC
connection pool using the Administrative console.
Here is what i have done till now
- set the classpath of the MySQL driver in the startWLS.cmd like this
SET MYSQL_DRIVER=C:\mysqldriver\mysql-connector-java-2.0.14\mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar
set CLASSPATH=%MYSQL_DRIVER%;%CLASSPATH%
- using the weblogic administrative console i have created a new connection pool
named as
testpool.
- Here is what i have in the testpool general tab
Name: testpool
URL: jdbc:mysql//localhost:3306/test (test is the name of the database in mysql)
Driver Classname: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
I have not entered any Properties, ACL Name, Password or Open String Password.
- Now i go the the Testing tab and enter a name of a table in my test database
and click on Apply
and on the command window i am getting the following exception
java.sql.SQLException No suitable driver

Hello Joseph Weinstein,
Actually, i already tried the same approach that you have mentioned

import java.sql.*;

public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception

throw ( e );
String url = "";
Connection con = null;
try {
url = "jdbc:mysql://" + "localhost:3306" + "/" + "test";
con = DriverManager.getConnection(url);
System.out.println("Connection established to " + url + "");
} catch ( java.sql.SQLException e ) {
System.out.println("Connection couldn't be established to " + url);
String sqlStatement = "SELECT * FROM testtable";
try {
Statement s = con.createStatement();
s.execute (sqlStatement);
s.close ( );
} catch ( SQLException e ) {
System.out.println ( "Error executing sql statement" );
con.close();
The classpath that i use to run this program is
SET PATH=C:\bea\jdk131_03\bin
SETCLASSPATH=C:\bea\jdk131_03\jre\lib\rt.jar;C:\bea\weblogic700\ebcc\lib\ext\se

SETMYSQL_DRIVER=C:\mysqldriver\mysql-connector-java-2.0.14\mysql-connector-java
-2.0.14-bin.jar
set CLASSPATH=.;%MYSQL_DRIVER%;%CLASSPATH%
I have also written a Servlet which checks the MySQL connection. For
the servlet
i added the MySQL driver jar files in the WEB-INF/lib directory ofthe
servlet
web application and it is working fine.
do you want me to attach the startWLS.cmd file that i changed to include
the MySQL
driver classpath.
Thanks for your replies,

just makes a JDBC connection to your MySQL DBMS, with no weblogic
code in the picture. When you succeed at this, show me the CLASSPATH

may
be that
the URL you're passing to the pool is not exactly correct for that
driver.

Cannot create connection pool with weblogic jDriver XA for oracle
Hi everybody,
we have serious problems configuring the weblogic jDriver for Oracle with support
for distributed transactions.
Everything works fine with the non-XA driver.
We tried the suggestions given here before like setting the environment variable

When attempting to create the connection pool, we get the following exception:

We suspect that we do not set the properties of the connection pool correctly. The
declaration of the pool in config.xml looks something like the following:
<JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="1" DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource"
InitialCapacity="10" MaxCapacity="15" Name="DiplPool"
Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;url=jdbc:weblogic:oracle:srlaptop_aidenbach.muc.sdm-research.de;dataSourceName=DiplPool"
Targets="Marvin" TestTableName="privcust" URL="jdbc:weblogic:oracle:srlaptop_aidenbach.muc.sdm-research.de"/>
Are there any known issues with the XA driver and the versions of oracle and Weblogic
we use? Can someone tell us how exactly we have to define the connection pool or
provide an example?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
MichaelHi Michael
Here is an example connection pool tag,
<JDBCConnectionPool
Name="oraXAPool"
Targets="myserver"
DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource"
InitialCapacity="1"
MaxCapacity="10"
CapacityIncrement="2"
Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;server=ORCL"
/>
Ensure that the server=ORCL is replaced by server=<what ever the Alias is
defined in TNSNAMES.ORA file>
You dont have to specify the URL for this.

ORACLE_SID. However, this does not change the errors we get. We useWeblgic Server
6.1 SP2 with oracle 8.1.7 (client and server) under Windows NT.
When attempting to create the connection pool, we get the followingexception:
Starting Loading jDriver/Oracle .....

We suspect that we do not set the properties of the connection poolcorrectly. The
declaration of the pool in config.xml looks something like the following:
<JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="1"DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource"
InitialCapacity="10" MaxCapacity="15" Name="DiplPool"
Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;url=jdbc:weblogic:oracle:srlaptop_aide
nbach.muc.sdm-research.de;dataSourceName=DiplPool"
Targets="Marvin" TestTableName="privcust"URL="jdbc:weblogic:oracle:srlaptop_aidenbach.muc.sdm-research.de"/>
>
Are there any known issues with the XA driver and the versions of oracleand Weblogic
we use? Can someone tell us how exactly we have to define the connectionpool or
provide an example?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

JDBC Connection Pool For Oracle 8.1 In Weblogic 6.1
Hi,
Can any of u help me by giving the code for configuring the oracle thin driver
for oracle 8.1 in config.xml of weblogic 6.1.
Thank You
RamHi Ram,
An example of the config.xml entry is:
<JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="2"
DriverName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" MaxCapacity="10"
Name="thinPool"
Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;dll=ocijdbc8;protocol=thin"
Targets="myserver" TestConnectionsOnRelease="true"
TestConnectionsOnReserve="true" TestTableName="dual" URL="jdbc:oracle:thin:@rwallace:1521:ORCL"/>
I found this out by running the utils.dbping utility to get the correct driver/url
details then creating the connection pool in the WLS console.

Unable to create connection pool on weblogic startup
Hi, I have a problem currently with the connection pool of weblogic 8.1 not being able to be created on a scheduled restart daily.
The weblogic server is restarted daily at 6am. However, the oracle database is shut down for maintenance daily till 7am before it is up again. It is not possible to shift either timings of restarting weblogic and oracle.
Is there any script or option settings in weblogic to reconnect the connection pool after 7am daily without restarting the weblogic instance?
Please help. Thanks.Kwee Tin Toh wrote:

Please help. Thanks.You can use the weblogic.Admin command line program to create, destroy, disable, or enable pools
in a running server. However, the easiest thing to do is to define your pool to have an initial
capacity of zero, so it is allowed to be created at startup, without needing to make any connections.
Then it will self-populate as needed when application load starts, if/when the DBMS is available.
