Creating Library Item results in series of JavaScript error messages?

I've made two attempts to create library items from a page. One is a navigation bar and the other a side bar that has some lists and "non html code" in it.
In both cases as the library item was created I rec'd a series of alerts warning of JavaScript errors.
See attached images, which show just two of the error messages.
It appears that the library item is then created but if I insert it into another document I get more JavaScript error messages.
What do I do to avoid having this JavaScript problem?
Thanks

  • Aperture help not working - getting JavaScript error message

    My Aperture 3 has been having a lot of strange issues lately, most, but not all of which have been cleared up by holding down command + option while starting up and going through all three of the choices there.
    One problem that remains is the inability to open the Help files. I keep getting the following message:
    “The Help Library requires JavaScript.
    If JavaScript is not enabled, you will not
    be able to view all the content.”
    Help works in all other applications, like Pages and Final Cut Pro. I don’t get JavaScript error messages in any other applications.
    I’ve already done an erase and restore from a Time Machine backup, and an archive and install. I reinstalled Aperture, although not by using the Terminal command suggested in the kbase article # HT3805.
    If I go the Terminal command route, will I lose all my projects, albums, and editing? What about Mobile Me galleries?
    I have a guest user on the computer, and when I log on to that user and open Aperture, the Help Library works fine. So, I know the problem is in my user account somewhere, but I don’t know how to address it. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums.
    The fact that you have access to java in another user suggests that it is a local setting or preference.
    In the applications folder/utilities there is an application Java Preferences, try resetting this and seeing if it works.
    If not, try deleting the java preferences file in your users folder
    systemHD/Users/user/Library/Preferences/com.apple.java.JavaPreferences.plist
    relaunch the app Java Preferences which creates a new preferences file for you, then try Aperture again.
    Let us know how this goes.

  • JavaScript Error Message using Angel Learning Software

    After upgrading to the latest version of FF I receive a JavaScript error message when attempting to send an email via the Angel Learning educational portal. All the other operations in Angel appear to function normally at this time. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be the issue and it if will be resolved or can be bypassed?
    Thanks!

    Thank you. The JavaScript is enabled on my FF settings. The message I am receiving is:
    Script: http://angel.cascadia.edu/jscript/yahoo/utilities/utilities.js:9
    So, perhaps I confused jscript with JavaScript by error? Either way, the link you forwarded said not to confuse the two...
    "Please note that JavaScript is not Java and Jscript is not JavaScript!"
    So, I clicked on the link to JScript which says that it is the same language as JavaScript and has a different name due to trademark issues. I have IE on my computer but never use it. Would you recommend that I uninstall IE? Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

  • Inserting a library item on a page using Javascript

    Hello,
    I have a library with 6 different layouts in it.  I need to be able to place these on the page from an external program.  I have all my code in place to send commands to Indesign, but I'm not sure how to reference the Library items.  Can I reference them by name?  As well, I would like my external custom app to be able to list all the library items so that the user can select which one to insert.  I'm at a total loss as to how to do this.
    I need help with these two things:
    1) obtain an array or list of all the items in a particular Library, which is already open.
    2) Once I have the list of library items I need to be able to place one or multiple on the page keeping track them so I can place images and text in the appropriate boxes.
    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.  I'm using Indesign CS3 and my external app is coded in Objective-C on a Mac.  I prefer Javascript as I'm very familiar with it as opposed to Applescript.
    Thanks for any help provided.

    Assuming you have access to the equivalent of doScript, when that is used to run a JavaScript, the final value of the script is returned (coerced to a string? I'm not sure).
    Of course, you can always pass information from one place to another by using keyed labels. In my work (I spend most of my time writing scripts for Typefi Publish wherein the same script might get executed at the end of every page as the Typefi Engine composes the document), I often will add a keyed label to the document that passes information from one run of the script to the next. Here's an example (that includes reading the script itself to extract version information from the second line) -- while slightly inefficient, it has the benefit of putting the version info in a defined, easy to find place:
        function registerFirstCall(aDoc, interactive) {
            var scriptFile = getScriptPath();
            var scriptName = scriptFile.name;
            if (aDoc.extractLabel(scriptName) == "" || interactive) {
                scriptFile.open("r");
                var firstLine = scriptFile.readln();
                var secondLine = scriptFile.readln();
                scriptFile.close();
                if (secondLine.indexOf("//VERSION: ") == 0) {
                    var msg = secondLine.split("//VERSION: ")[1].split("\n")[0];
                } else {
                    var msg = "unknown";
                aDoc.insertLabel(scriptName, "Registered");
                TPSlog(scriptName + " version: " + msg, interactive);
        }// end registerFirstCall
    Ah, I see it uses the getScriptPath function, so for completeness, here it is:
        function getScriptPath() {
            // This function returns the path to the active script, even when running ESTK
            try {
                return app.activeScript;
            } catch(e) {
                return File(e.fileName);
            } // end try
        } // end getScriptPath
    The TPSlog function either pops up an alert (when working interactively -- usually means during debugging) or adds a log message for the session (that also is managed with a document keyed label). The keyed label in this case is performing the trivial task of recording that the script has previously been run against this document, in which case, it doesn't need to log a message identifying its version info.
    Hope this helps.

  • Create list item in sharepoint online list throws error in iPhone

    Hi all :
    I have got a piece of JS code where I am creating multiple list items. So first I am creating an Expense item and then each of the expense line item( 5 of those ) in a different list. It creates the Expense item successfully and then when it tries to
    create the line items, I am getting the following error :

    function (sender, args) {
        alert('Expense creation failed');
    The outermost executeQueryAsync creates the Expense item and on being successful, I create the line items.
    Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    developer_melbourne

    Ok so I resolved the issue and thought to provide the answer. It was caused by the line where it is doing redirection using window.location.replace. Somehow it works in IE, not in Safari in iPhone.
    Anyways you can do the redirection after all the items get created in the last success  method of the last item creation OR you can use deferred/promise of jQuery to achieve the same.
    Thanks

    I got an Error 4261 message on my computer some months ago while attempting to backup my iTunes music ---about Dec. 2006. Hopefully, the problem is now solved. This was a difficult and time consuming issue to resolve. I shall provide some details of this resolution (worked for me) as I know some others are having the same problem. I hope to post this message to others with 4261 errors.
    I have a Dimension E510 computer bought in 2006. I am using Windows XP. My CD ROM burner is as follows: HL-DT-ST DVD +-RW GWA4164B. I wonder if you have the same type CD ROM.
    At first, several thoughts came to mind. Google? Never listen to music again. Invest in a sledge hammer? I decided to try and fix the problem and would work on this for the next eight months. Recently, I decided that this problem had to go away. I tried various things to correct the problem often with technical assistance as the following indicate:
    Changed copy speed//Did a restore on my computer (no help)// reversed restore
    Updated iTunes files//Did virus scans
    Contacted a company techie—Discovered my warranty was still good. Cdrom driver was updated. We got the iTunes program to copy a disk. Problem solved?? Time passes.
    The problem reoccurs. I contacted a techie again. He was able to get another program to copy on the cdrom I was using to copy iTunes music. I was told that I should contact an iTunes rep. $$. Says cdrom hardware is OK. (One can save files (ex. photos) to a new file created on the desk top and copy them to a cdrom---a test method used.)
    I read suggestions about updating my BIOS and chipset on the iTunes message board. Not being a techie I wasn’t so sure about this. (Also Techies did not go in this direction.) Time passes.
    I didn’t buy music.
    I read messages saying that I should backup my iTunes music.
    Called techie again. Updated cdrom driver. We were able to copy data using the same cdrom used for the iTunes copy. (Again this was not a fix. It was indicative of an intermittent/partial cdrom failure which occurred over time, and one manifesting itself in iTunes.) I asked him to try to copy another. Amazingly, this copy failed. Something was wrong. Now we’re getting somewhere. Techie eliminated some startup files to try to determine source of a software error, if one. This did not fix the problem.
    Techie deleted a couple registry files. I don’t like deleting registry files because they serve a valuable purpose, but I’m not a techie. Later I was told that this is a routine test procedure. (After the fix I would have to do an update of my iTunes program. iTunes has a repair feature which was on my desktop—a holdover from a previous attempt to fix things with an iTunes update. I ran this repair without harming my music files, and this repaired the program.)
    Techie said I may have a problem with my current brands of CD-R disks. I bought and tried other brands---four all total. This did not work.
    I happened to attempt to copy some pictures as I was interested in having some developed. To my surprise, my computer stopped the copy citing an error with the copy process. The problem now manifested itself with another software program. Heretofore, I could successfully copy pictures using the same cdrom but not iTunes music.
    I called the techie again. I told him what I had done and new error in copying other files to the cdrom. We attempted to use other programs to copy music and picture files on the cdrom. (My thinking is, if they had worked, then the cdrom was OK, and the problem was a software problem and likely involving iTunes---software and not hardware Obviously I wanted a cdrom replacement as this would be easier for me than pursuing imbedded software program issues.) We could not get any software programs to copy files to the cdrom in question. This was a clear indication that the cdrom was defective. We likely used up ten CD-R disks in these latest attempts.
    Looking back, there was a subtle indication of a problem with the cdrom. There was a problem with one of the songs I had copied to a new disk (No. 24 of 24 songs on a disk). The song was copied with errors. This shouldn’t have happened.
    The company replaced cdrom free of charge the next morning in about 5 minutes. Wow!
    I tried the new cdrom and began burning iTunes music right away. No 4261 error message. I also copied pictures to the same cdrom without any error messages. I also successfully used other brands of CD-R disks.
    I had problems with iTunes and a photo program after cdrom installation but fixed them with updates. I also experienced problems with Windows Media Player and Roxio/Sonic. They didn’t want to recognize the new cdrom in drive (E:). Restore made things worst so I undid this. I spoke to a tech again about these issues as I wasn’t certain of the scope/nature of problem. Issue of ownership of problem came up again. Software vs hardware. We updated both programs with updates from company support pages. This fixed the problem. Point learned here was the need to keep files updated with the latest and greatest. I am skeptical of too many changes because of risk of problems. Now, it seems, I have no choice but to do this---critical changes at least. Many thanks to Techie.
    The thought in my mind now is whether performing updates and specifically on Windows Media Player would have fixed the error to begin with. Well, I did run an update on my iTunes prior to, and there are no updates for my photo program. Looking back I would try the updates/repair first (the easy stuff) before I replaced the cdrom. I spent about 9 hours on phone with techies(caution not to delete music). Without warranty, I couldn’t have afforded this. Luckily for me it was a hardware issue.
    Replacing the cdrom on my computer fixed the 4261 error on my computer. I hope something here will be of help to some of you who have the same problem.
    Kindest regards. 08/14/07

    You may need to uninstall and then reinstall DW &
    Interakt. The issue that
    you are probably running into is that Interakt changed some
    of the DW files
    which worked until the DW 8.02 update came out, and rewrote
    those files. The
    Interakt updater probably relies on finding the updated DW
    files.
    When you preview a file DW creates a temporary version of it,
    and runs that,
    and then deletes it. You can not reference these temporary
    versions in any
    other way.

  • Time Machine has simply stopped backing up any new files. No items set to be excluded, No error messages.

    I have a Macbook with OS X 10.6.8 and a 500GB external hard drive, which still has 208.5GB available. For some reason, Time Machine has simply stopped backing up any new files (documents, music, movies--anything). No items are set to be excluded from backups in Time Machine options except for the external hard drive itself. Also, no error messages appear, Time Machine seems to run just fine, but when I enter Time Machine, or look through the files on the hard drive, new files just aren't there. I am not very tech savvy, so I was not able to understand some of the answers people gave to similar questions on here. I did go to Pondini's website and followed as many troubleshooting instructions as I could understand (for example I did manage to do a full reset of Time Machine) but nothing changed. Do I just need to erase the entire backup drive and sart all over? If so, what will prevent this from happening again later on? Please help.

    Your TM drive liekly stopped backing up because it hit a series of bad sectors on the drive, to eliminate this all new drives should be Disk Utility > Zero Erased (one step below 7x in Lion) before use.
    Reducing bad sectors effect on hard drives
    Diversify your backups with bootable clones and archives on DVD's etc so your prepared for anything, including using a PC.
    only if you have too of course, but it happens, people just can't afford a Mac anymore.
    Most commonly used backup methods explained
    So make other backups, then Zero Erase teh TM drive and set it back up again and your problem should be resolved.
    If not, then it's data corruption on your boot drive!
    You'll know if it's data corruption on your boot drive, when you go to make the clone, it will hang too.
