Creating List of Values for Parameters in Crystal Report

Dear All,
I have created a Report using Crystal Report XI and integrated that with VB Dot Net.  It uses a Stored Procedure (SQL 2000) to retrieve data.  The stored procedure has some parameters.  When I run the VB dot net exe, it prompts for the parameters.  However, I like to pass a List of Values to the Parameters, which the end user must select from the same.
How can I create a List of Values and attach to the Crystal Report.
Please help me in this regard,
Naren.

Are you trying to set a bunch of default values (e.g.; 1st name, last name, address, order number, etc.), or an actual List of Values?
Also, remember to search the forums for possible solutions. When I enter "parameter" in the search box, I get over 7 pages of links...
The [notes|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/advancedsearch?cat=sdn_ossnotes&query=&adv=true] database and [articles|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-articles] are great information resources also.
Oh, and confirm exact version of CR used.

  • Passing different (multi-) values for parameters to drill-through report, based on clicked subtotal in main report

In Report Builder 3.0, I have made a main report in which the user can filter the underlying dataset using three parameters (all multi-value). The report shows totals grouped by these three parameters, as well as a grand total. What I want is to click
on a total, which then opens the drill-through report for the corresponding records. I have achieved this for the grand total; the action in the corresponding text box passes all selected values of the parameters to the drill-through report.
What I cannot figure out is how to make this work right when clicking on a subtotal. When I use the same expression as for the grand total, the same values for the parameters are passed, instead of the subset that apply to the corresponding text box in the
main report. I expected this to work, because Report Builder /does/ correctly calculate the SUMs for the different levels, even though the expressions are the same.
My question is: how do I pass different drill-through (multi-) values for parameters, corresponding to the respective subtotals in the main report?
(FYI: I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and Report Builder 3.0 .)

    Hello Katherine,
Thanks once more for your quick reply.
I was aware of the textbox action "Go to report", and how to pass parameters in general. My question concerned how to determine the scope of the passed multi-value parameters (to the values that apply to the respective group/subtotal). The article you linked
to is informative, but not a solution to my problem.
A colleague of mine came up with a pragmatic solution: instead of trying to determine the scope of the parameter values, now I "look to the left in the results table". The two screenshots below should illustrate this. (Screenshots are in Dutch. Specific information
    is pixelated.)
Unfortunately, I am not able to post images. Once my account is verified, I will edit them in. For now, I hope the text speaks for itself enough.
[Screenshot: Drill-through parameters - 01: Report Builder tablix with subtotals]
[Screenshot: Drill-through parameters - 02: Textbox properties (selected in screenshot 01) - Action - Go to report]
The first screenshot shows the tablix in the Report Builder. The second screenshot shows the properties of the textbox selected in the first.
Notice that I do not pass parameters for the first two columns, but the actual values. I only pass the parameter (containing /all/ user-selected values) for the third column. In the textbox below the selected one, I pass the actual values for the first column,
and parameters for the last two. In the textbox above the selected one, I pass the actual values for all three columns.
The only (cosmetic) flaw this approach has is that in the drill-through report, the list of selected parameters might show values that do not occur in the (corresponding part of the) results, and only for those parameters for which the main report passes (all
user-selected) parameter values, and not the actual values in the results. The results are correct, though.
If there is a way to directly determine the scope of multi-value parameters for passing to a drill-through report, I would still like know. But for now, this seems to work.

  • Creating List of values in the Pk field show it in af:table

    Hi folks,
i'm using jdev 11.1.1.6.0 i'm having departmentvo in that vo i'm having departmentid it has primary key. i needed to create to list of values for that departmentid. so i use createofvalues pallete i did it. just map the departmentid from the employeevo.
finally i drag and drop the departmentvo as af:table. i press create insert button row is ready for insertion.
first field is departmentid. i use the list of values to assign the values. it is not assigning. no error.. no logs.
i googled it around. i got this blog. the problem is on jan 2013.
Andrejus Baranovskis's Blog: LOV for Editable Primary Key in ADF Table Problem
is anyone fix this. if so please share it.

you got to say you have a department VO with department Id as primary key and u want to refer that department Id as an LOV from employee VO?
    yes you are right.
Why will you create a department with already existing department Id?
    no. no.
    This is contradictory
In employees table, you can insert only department id which already exists in department table(because of foreign key)
So if you base your department id lov on employees table, returned IDs already exists in department table and you can't use them for new department id(because this is PK in departments table)

  • Default Parameters in Crystal Report

    Hi all visitors
I have created one crystal report and now i want to set the parameters to my report by using parameters in Crystal Report(  the parameters not from sql).My parameters are datetime datatype. in my report, i create one formula( get date from DocDate field from sql). How can i set the default "Todate" parameter as current date?
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
So all of the seleciton is done using selecct expert.  They have alot of default values there...but if you go to advanced then you can do much more still.  So if you just want to only use the currentdate then you can just do something like
    date({IT_ChangeManagement.Deployment Date/Time}) = currentdate
In the above case there would be no parameters needed and would show the currentdates information. You could of course do a varity of >= or <= using the above method.
If you want more flexability then you could create a parameter or two . Here is an example.  This is again done in select expert....
    if {?Start Date} <= date("01/01/2000") then
    date({IT_ChangeManagement.Deployment Date/Time}) = currentdate
    else
          {IT_ChangeManagement.Deployment Date/Time} >= {?Start Date} and
          {IT_ChangeManagement.Deployment Date/Time} <= {?End Date}
The above defaults to the current date if the start date is older than 2000, otherwise it uses the start & end date parmeters.
    Make sense?

  • "Date / Date Time" type parameters in crystal reports 2008

i am using parameters in crystal report to select records. one of the parameters is "From Date" of type Date Time.
i mapped this parameter to a field "DateIn" of type smalldatetime in my sql table.
Now, when i open the report it asks for "From Date" but b y default it sets the time to current time so i have to change it to 00:00:00 manually. i want it to show 00:00:00 by default. which means i don't want time here.
For this if i select the datatype of parameter "From Date" as Date only then i am not able to map it to the "DateIn" field of the sql table.
Please help me out of this.

    Great !!!
    this is working.
i found another way, i changed the datatype of parameter to Date and click ok and everything was good, it doesn't require any conversion to date time.
Thank You so much. All Points You.

  • How to create a clickable Table of contents using Crystal Reports 8.5

How to create a clickable Table of contents using Crystal Reports 8.5. I was able to create the table of contents using subreport and temporary table. but not able to link to the pages.
how to make it clickable ?
    -Vivek

    Hi Vivek,
To you may create on demand sub report.
In main report only the link will be shown when you click on the link the sub report will be opened in a new tab.
It can be placed in a Group header and to show the data for that particular group only.
Click on the Help menu in the crystal Reports Designer and open the Crystal Reports Help
Go to Index tab and type in subreport
Select Creating On demand you will get lot of information on that.
Please let us know if that is enough to solve your problem

  • C++ UFL for 64-bit Crystal Reports

On 32-bit Windows, COM-based and U25 type UFLs are supported. We have a couple of those style UFLs in use today.
Now we want to move to 64-bit Crystal Reports.
What are our options? I can't find any mentioning developing C++ based UFL solutions for 64-bit Crystal Reports on this site. All we can find is documentation on .Net UFLs.
Anyone knows if the U25 and COM UFLs are still supported on 64-bit Crystal Reports? Where can I get more information. Thanks.

    Hello,
What 64 bit version of Crystal? Crystal Reports Designer is a 32 bit application, there is no 64 bit version of it. And the COM UFL's use 32 bit technology so converting to 64 bit isn't required, they should work by thunking the values back and forth.
There is a kbase article - 1525014  Sample .NET UFL and Localization Formula function  but it may not be released yet which includes a new sample UFL written in C#, which is about as close to C++ as you'll get. The readme file tells you how to GAC the ufl so CR can find it as well as the .NET applciation you write.
If you are using the version of Crystal Reports runtime that comes with Visual Studio it is version 10 and that version did not support the new unicode UFL noted above.
    Thank you

  • PASSING PARAMETERS TO CRYSTAL REPORTS THRU FORMS!

  • Possibility to create variants for parameters in Crystal

    Dear all,
I am using crystal reports 2008 SP6. Most of the report are referring on BI queries. In BI queries our users are using variants to save several filter values.
I already noticed that in Crystal there is a personalize button, but this the user allows to just save more or less just one “variant”
Is there a way for the user to save several variants in Crystal like it is possible in BEx. Any idea would be great.
    Best regards,
    Stefanos from Munich/Germany

when you insert a DTP, it doesnt ask you for a variant infact it will ask you for the technical name of the DTP. Or you referring to some other variant?
