Creating mobile sites in muse.

I'm creating some mobile sites in muse to work with existing sites created in Business Catalyst. How does the viewing device know there is a mobi site and go to it rather than the existing site? Do I need to switch anything over?

[ - I know this is an old topic, but for anyone else reading - ]
I had succes with merging Mobile only sites with our existing BC site.
- Ensure you have BC set for mobile only content (Admin console > Site Settings)
- Use Muse to export the 'phone layout' site as HTML
- Use an SFTP client to upload the mobile site to the 'mydomain.com/mobile' folder
Desktops still see mydomain.com/index.html (built using BC templates modules etc)
Mobile devices see mydomain.com/mobile/index.html (built using Muse)

Secure Zone login feature will only work if you host your website with Business catalyst.

Clarification about building a mobile site on muse to connect to a non muse site..

I thought that this was possible, as I asked a while back and was kindly answered by Brad, a very helpful man at Adobe .
What I would like clarified is if I build a mobile site on muse and then take it to another hosting platform and build a subdomain m.mywebsite.com, could I put the mobile site on this subdomain, so that it lives happily alongside mywebsite.com? I realise that I would need a redirect script to make this work and I do realise I would lose some of the functionality that I would have had if keeping on business catalyst.
I know that there are mobile website builders out there which could be used, but they cannot produce such diverse mobile websites as muse can.

First thanks for the compliment ;-) (I don't work for Adobe - just hang out here)
What you can do if I understand correctly is:
build your site as you normally would in Muse.
go into your domain host and redirect the m.mysite.com to the 'phone' folder of the site
by doing that site users that enter the domain with the mobile URL will go to the phone version
One more step ... add the following code to the head meta of your mobile template
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://m.mysite.com"/>
That should do what you want. Let me know how you make out.

Just created a site in muse - can I NOW make it responsive?

I just created a site in Muse CC without considering whether to make it responsive or not. Instead, in muse I created an entirely separate site using the "phone" version.
Here is the current site: arbabrizvi.businesscatalyst.com
is there anyway that I can make this site responsive after the fact without having to redo everything?

Muse does not implement "Responsive Layout" as defined by a hand coder (which means using one HTML file and one set of images for multiple layout variations that are driven from multiple CSS definitions usually triggered by media queries).
However, Muse does provide a few features for creating a web page design that responds to some degree to resizing of the browser window:
1) Browser Fill Images set to Scale to Fill or Scale to Fit (generally with the page fill and stroke set to none, so the browser fill is the background everywhere)
2) 100% Browser width objects (which can contain background images set to Scale to Fill, Scale to Fit, Center, etc. and which can include text frames)
3) Pinned items, which maintain a specific location offset from one or two edges of the browser window

Can I make a Mobile site with Muse and then go through PhoneGap?

I would like to use Muse to design a mobile site then use phone gap build to package it as an app. Is this possible? I was thinking I could export as HTML and then use those files or even move those to dreamweaver then to phone gap...

I tried building an App through PhoneGap, but I keep getting a error when I try to create it for IOS. It asks me for a key? Do I have to be an Apple Developer to create an App for IOS. I don't necessarily want my App going through the App Store, I just want my mobile site to prompt the visitor to click on a button to download the App to their home screen.

Resize mobile site with muse

I'm creating a mobile site and I don't know why when I preview the mobile site it pushes the content to the left side of the screen. How can I resize it automatically? Designing the site everything is sized correctly.

Muse mobile site/ issues with size...

I created a mobile site with Muse, and it previews just fine... But when I go to an actual phone my content is a third of the page and locked on the left. Why does it look so small? I want it to be the width of the screen... I have the page width set at 320.

You most likely have an empty box or box extended past the right side of the page. Open your mobile template and do a select all to highlight everything on the page and see if you have an empty box off the design.

Can I create a site proof in Muse and share it with a client over the web?

Yes, you can create a site in Muse and publish it to business catalyst. It will be in trial mode and your client will be able to view the site over the web.

Making a Mobile app in Muse

Hello, ive being using muse for a couple of months now, ive manged to create my first few websites!
Recently i have been looking at some of the new services adobe is bringing in to CC, one that sttod out for me is phonegap. This allows html code to be transformed into a full functioning app. I have already attempted it with muse howeverit failed as my site was not made for mobile.
My question is, if i make a mobile site using muse and transfer it to phonegap, will it work on the majority of smatrphone? Thanks James

Phone Gap basically works like a mobile web browser. if you feed it CSS & HTML built for desktop PhoneGap won't change it to suit a mobile screen.
You need to build a mobile website then run it through phonegap.
jQuery mobile is a good option.

Mobile site

Hi,
I've finished designing the layout for the desktop site, and everything seems to be working fine. I'm having some issues with the mobile site...when I change the phone in preview mode, the sizing is working correctly. As an example, when I select iPhone 4 from the dropdown menu, the bottom of the page gets cut off. Is there a way to make the site responsive so it will auto resize for all of the phone options?

I assume you have gone through and added the content for the phone layout within Muse.

Since this may require additional testing I would recommend having Muse support look into your Muse file to ensure everything is properly configured.

I am trying to build a one page scrolling mobile site in muse and can't figure out how to create anchor links that adapt and move to different mobile screen sizes, is this possible?

Do I have to upgrade to get email and Mobile sites?

We have a Creative Cloud membership, and we created a site with muse, and it's live at our custom domain. Is the free web hosting that comes with our membership the tier that includes email and mobile/tablet sites, or do we need to upgrade? And if we do upgrade, is that $12/month a per site cost? For instance, if we wanted to make a second website would we have to pay $12 more per month?

Hello. I will try to repeat my steps to find the issue:
I create a new site from scratch on business catalyst so I can choose the package with the blog and ecommerce.
I then create the site in Muse and publish it to the domain I created when I created the new site in Business Catalyst.
I add some modules to my Muse design and publish.
Everything works for a while but then later the Muse published site is replaced with Business Catalyst's default "Coming Soon" graphic.
How do I stop this from happening?

Ok, I figured out what is happening, though I still don't know how to correct it.
If the temp domain is put in without the index - http://bloomingarden.businesscatalyst.com - I get the coming soon graphic.
If I add the index.html - http://bloomingarden.businesscatalyst.com/index.html the site shows up.
How do I get the site to show up when just the domain is put in without the index.html?

Mobile site taking over Desktop site after upload

I have an existing site hosted on a third party server. I built a mobile site on Muse and just uploaded it via FTP. Site worked great on mobile device but mobile took over the desktop as well. I loaded the Muse files into the /. directory.

Thanks Brad for the reply! I thought that was probably the issue so I removed all of the mobile files I uploaded originally (at least I think I did.)
I uploaded my original "index.html" file from my original files and all went back normal. I then loaded muse files via FTP to a directory on the root entitled "mobile". Now on my phone the site will only pull up the desktop. Isn't Muse suppose to write files to the root for device detection or am I making some mistakes here?
