Clarification about building a mobile site on muse to connect to a non muse site..

Hi
I thought that this was possible, as  I asked a while back and was kindly answered by Brad, a very helpful man at Adobe .
What I would like clarified is if I build a mobile site on muse and then take it to another hosting platform and build a subdomain m.mywebsite.com, could I put the mobile site on this subdomain, so that it lives happily alongside mywebsite.com?  I realise that I would need a redirect script to make this work and I do realise I would lose some of the functionality that I would have had if keeping on business catalyst.
I know that there are mobile website builders out there which could be used, but they cannot produce such diverse mobile websites as muse can.
Looking forward to any feedback
Thank you
Michele

Hi Michele,
First thanks for the compliment ;-) (I don't work for Adobe - just hang out here)
What you can do if I understand correctly is:
build your site as you normally would in Muse.
go into your domain host and redirect the m.mysite.com to the 'phone' folder of the site
by doing that site users that enter the domain with the mobile URL will go to the phone version
One more step ... add the following code to the head meta of your mobile template
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://m.mysite.com"/>
That should do what you want. Let me know how you make out.

  • Can you build a mobile website in Muse and redirect to a desktop website which is not built in Muse?

    Hi
I am looking at the idea of extending my photoshop monthly subscription to one that will give me access to Muse and Illustrator etc.
I have been building mobile websites on a mobile platform and then redirecting these to clients desktop sites - this is an option for clients who don't want to go the whole hog with new web design.
Is it possible to build a mobile website using muse and then redirect this mobile website to an existing desktop site that has not been built on Muse?
    Thanks in advance
    Michele

You can certainly use Muse for hosting on other hosts as well. You do lose some of the functionality of Business Catalyst such as In Browser Editing. I just saw that you did your current one in Wordpress ... so I assume there is a blog?
If so, keep in mind that Muse alone does not have a blog feature. You can integrate a Business Catalyst Blog into it with a bit of knowledge on how BC works.

  • How do I integrate a muse mobile site to an existing (non muse) web site

Is it possible to create a mobile or a tablet (or both) site in muse and integrate the code to the HEAD section of an existing (non muse) site in order to re-direct on each appropriate device?
I have a client who has an established website which he is happy with but wants to add mobile functionality.
    Thanks, folks.

Any solution for that yet? I have the same problem lol

  • Does Muse support multiple renditions of the same site?

I have built a desktop website, but would also like to build a mobile version of the same site.
Can Muse support a desktop and mobile edition of the same website? So for example, if the user is viewing the site on an iPhone, they see a mobile-optimised site?
I ask this because as it stands, it appears that Muse can't create fully responsive sites yet - or am I wrong?
    Thanks

    Hey JDnm,
It is possible to create a mobile phone layout but this stands apart from the desktop version. Both can even have completely different content. So Muse can create different versions for mobile, tablet or desktop. But they are not responsive in the true meaning of the word. When you scale down the browser window on a desktop the Muse site doesn't switch to the mobile version. A true responsive site has a central code that contains the content which is adapted to the device or browser size through the use of different sets of cascading style sheets (or querys).
I hope that future versions combine the Edge reflow technology with Muse's layout ease. Managing three sets of content through Muse is a bit of a hassle today.
So you are not wrong, Muse serves up different versions for different devices but doesn't allow you to build true responsive pages.

  • Why doesn't my Bus Cat Muse upload show up as a Temporary Site?

I just finished the intro tutorial on Muse and uploaded the Katie's Bakery site as instructed in the tutorial. It is now "live" as a temporary site on the businesscatalyst.com domain. However, when I review my "My Assets" page (assets.adobe.com/websites), my Temporary Sites still show zero.
When you publish a site from Muse to Business Catalyst, is that not considered a Temporary Site? If so, why does it not show up in My Assets? If not, what sort of site does show up as a Temporary Site? And in any case, how do I delete my tutorial site from business catalyst?

OK, after some exploring and testing based on your posts, this is what I have discovered. Hopefully this will help others who are having similar problems.
    1. There does not seem to be any standard way of getting to https://assets.adobe.com/websites. When you go into assets.adobe.com, it comes up with a menu for Recent, Files, Mobile Creations, and Libraries, and the URL appends "assets" after the domain, as shown below:
The page above does not give a menu option for Websites, even though you can get to Websites by typing it in directly, as shown earlier. It is that URL from which my original question came, for it is there that it shows my original screen print of 0 Launched Sites and 0 Temporary Sites. I don't even remember how I got there in the first place. But its existence appears to be a mistake on Adobe's part, otherwise I think they would provide an easy way to get there, as well as showing updated information. I did republish my test site, and that "Websites" page still shows zeros.
    2. Muse appears to publish a "Business Catalyst" site as a two-piece entity:
    a. A Trial Site at the Partner Portal
Per the tutorial video at https://helpx.adobe.com/muse/how-to/muse-publish-site-business-catalyst.html, a Trial Site gets 30 days of up-time, and if you modify anything in the site from Muse, it extends the up-time for 2 weeks, up to a total time of 2 years.
You can check the status of all of your Trial Sites at the Partner Portal site (http://ava-next.worldsecuresystems.com/PartnerPortal/Customers.aspx). Logging in to this site requires your global Adobe user ID and password. It lists all of your Trial Sites and gives you links to Preview, Manage, or Upgrade.
It does not give you a link to Delete. To Delete, you have to Manage the site, by clicking on Manage as in the above screen print, which then takes you into the Business Catalyst part of the site. (See (1b) below.)
    b. A Business Catalyst site
This is the site itself, and you get a URL to share with the world while your trial period lasts.
If you append "/admin" to the end of that URL, you can manage the site. You can also manage it (and get to the same place) by clicking on Manage from the Partner Portal, as shown above.
Once you get into the Manage part, you get site stats (visits, disk space, etc.) as well as links to either launch the site as one of your 5 free webHosting sites, or delete it by clicking on the link in the message "If you do not need this site you can simply delete the site."
So, it appears that publishing and managing Web sites via Muse is a scattered proposition. There are three different places you might find information about what you have published. The first doesn't appear to work at all. The other two are related but are not easy to find. I think this is something Adobe should address, because at the very least, I truly had no idea what I had published, how to manage it, or how to get rid of it without extensive investigation. The whole publish-to-Business-Catalyst-from-Muse thing needs to be simplified and streamlined.
Furthermore, some Adobe articles note that you can manage your site by clicking on the Manage top-menu item in Muse. However, in the very latest Windows version, that menu item does not exist. (It does in the Mac in the tutorials; the menu items include Plan, Design, Preview, Publish, and Manage. However, the Windows version--CC 2014.2--does not have Manage, even after you have published the site.)
Also, one additional side comment: In CC 2014.2, when you publish the site to Business Catalyst, you may get the message "The currently associated site is not available to this user" before you click to publish. There is an unanswered discussion for that at My site won't publish. I keep getting error: "the currently associated site is not available to this user", but I discovered that this error comes up even if you have the correct user info in your Muse preferences. I published my test site anyway, despite that error, and it still published fine and I have access to manage the site. Truly I am "musing" over the overall way Muse publishes Web sites...

  • Revising muse pages offline and uploading to live site on Business Catalyst

I am about to make my Muse website live in Business Catalyst.  However, I know that I will subsequently have to revise existing pages - the addition of some new content and also a couple of external links. I would feel more comfortable revising whole site offline and uploading my entire revised site as a replacement to Business Catalyst.  I can see no instructions or info as to whether this is possible. Advice please.

You can edit/modify site contents and then upload to BC, while uploading to BC you can either use the existing site if you already have published the site or you can go with a new trial site.
If you are referring to replacement of any site in BC with new contents then the same process for site update will work. I am missing out something or you are looking for something else , then please correct me.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

Can you please confirm the exact version of Muse you are opening the file with?

  • Building a mobile app

Hi, I've installed phonegap desktop and designing my app in Muse.  The updates are working fine and testing on my phone works great.  Is this the way to build a mobile app?  Can it work?  I don't know code at all.

Ok, thanks, well let me ask you this then.  What if I wanted to make an app that isn't informational only, what's the best way to get things to work?  can I design the app in muse for the informational stuff and then insert jquery code in to do more dynamic things?  I ultimately want to be able to do some phone manipulation if you know what I mean.  Maybe access the phones voice recorder, or be able to leave a voice text, or access the phone's calendar to make appointments.  What would be the easiest way for a non coder to do something like that?

  • Muse slideshow not showing up on web site.

I'm using Mese Creative Suite 6, and I did a simple slideshow that shows up in Preview, but after uploading my site it doesn't show up in Opera, Chrome or Safari. I've cleared cache, but still no slideshow.
    The website is www.IntelEgress.com.
    Thanks for any help.
Here's a screengrab of the site in the design mode:

    Hi,
Make sure your slideshow images uploaded too. There will need to be the slideshow image + a thumbnail which MUSE creates and names with a code (if you used thumbnails).
    Try this:
I have found that I sometimes need to manually put the images into my site's images folder first, then I build the slideshow linking the images from my Images folder into MUSE. Then again, be sure these images get uploaded to your server into the images folder.

  • Can you publish from Muse to current Non-Muse BC site without overwriting whole site?

i have a current BC site, done traditional way with code editor and uploaded and live.
I'd like to publish a single Muse page to the site. If I publish from Muse, select my site's domain, and upload will I overwrite the rest of the site?
Are you able to 'mix' a Muse page and a traditional BC site? Would I publish to folder, take that and FTP to the site; would that be safer?
    Just curious.. thanks

I am afraid that as of now you will not be able to publish in a folder on Bc and if you publish from Muse then indeed it will over-write the entire web site.
You can infact, export the html of the web site created via Muse and then FTP it to the BC server. You will also have to transfer the files on which the page is dependant. Safer would be to FTP and not publish to a folder on BC and link it to the web site manually.
Let us know for more clarifications.

  • Adobe Muse: "Preview page in browser" and "preview site in browser" functions have stopped working.

Working one day then not the next. Firefox just spins. The preview button works, as does the publish function.
2.7Ghz i7 Macbook Pro with Retina Display
    Muse 2014.0.1
Something else to add: When Firefox finally timed out it displayed the full url. Copying and pasting that into Safari and everything works. So it seems in someway this is a Firefox issue or a Muse -Firefox connection issue.
So the new question is: how can I change the browser Muse chooses to use when I select these two functions?

    HI,
Adobe Muse will use OS default browser for preview the page/site in browser. So you can change the default browser and preview the site again.
Also, try to troubleshoot Firefox, using their official documentation
Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can | Firefox Help
Do let me know if you have any question.

This Adobe muse site file requires a newer version of Adobe Muse. I want to comeback to old version Adobe muse i need help to open my file thanks

    Hi,
You may need to design the site again in older version OR may be copy and paste in place from new to old except what is new in the latest version.
    Hope that helps!
    Kind Regards,

  • How to go about building a app that searches for and displays pages from Google.

I was wondering how i would go about building an app that takes a users input such as a sentence (not a URL) and then searches  for their input on Google. This app would then have to display a selected page automatically on the UIWebView.
My existing code in my viewcontroller.m is as follows:
    - (void)viewDidLoad
    [super viewDidLoad]; [webView loadRequest: [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://www.google.com"]]];
I now want my app to use a users input (a word or a sentence) and search Google with that input but do it in the background then display the first search result in the UIWebView, what code would i need?
    Thanks

Sorry, I cant view the App Store Review Guidelines
https://developer.apple.com/appstore/resources/approval/guidelines.htmllink, maybe its because i dont have a developers account yet i will be getting one when i am ready to launch my app on the app store.
