Creating mp4 movie from m4v elementary stream

Hello,
I have some mpeg 4 video elementary streams. Those streams were extracted from MXF proxy files originally recorded with Sony's XDCam. Quicktime (Pro) refuses to play those files (errors -2002, -2010 and -20,48).
Using ffmpeg and mp4ip I'm able to convert those streams into valid (muxed) mpeg 4 movies that Quicktime is able to play.
The problem with ffmpeg/mpeg4ip is that it might violate patents and is not suitable for applications you want to (re)distribute (like in my case).
Is it possible to create a valid mpeg 4 movie that contains my elementary stream using the Quicktime SDK?
Basically it should be something like wrapping an mpeg 4 structure around my elementray stream.
Regards,
Kai

Thanks for your suggestion, but the problem is that Quicktime refuses to open my elementary streams. The binary dump of such a stream looks like raw mpeg 4 data without any header information. Quicktime player reports errors -2002, -2010 or -2048 (changing from time to time). I was able to create files that can be used by Quicktime player wiht ffmpeg and mpeg4ip. But instead of using open source software with questionable patent backgroung I would prefer to use something "more save" like the Quicktime SDK.
What I need is a solution to wrap my elementary streams into a valid mpeg 4 structure.

Kai

I am trying to apply a lens filter in CS6 to a mp4 movie from the phantom 2+. I do the normal steps of lens filter and choose dji, phantom2+, and I click ok and the picture improves and there is less curve etc. What I don't know is why it seems to revert back to the old movie when I come back later on. I know I saved it but I must be doing something wrong. Here are my steps:
    Open an Mp4 movie
    Choose filter, lens correction
    Choose dii
    choose Phantom FC200
click ok and the image improves.
I then save as a name.psd and close the file.
I reopen the file and it looks good. When I play the movie it just jumps back to the old curved horizon.
What am I doing wrong? If you can help me I would be very grateful.

  • Do I need multicam in order to create a movie from multiple cameras?

Do I need multicam in order to create a movie from multiple cameras? The old fashioned way is just to simply put multiple video clips into multiple video tracks in Final Cut, right? Then I can transition the tracks as I see fit.
Multicam in Final Cut Pro simply improves upon this by hard synching timecodes right?
As an amateur, do I really need multicam features in Final Cut Pro in order to make a movie from multiple camera angles?

Will it make your editing tasks more efficient? Not
likely. Multicam is an advanced feature of FCP. It
requires knowing how most of the application's basic
    operations are performed.
I have to disagree with bog in that multicam is all about efficiency and being able to quickly set-up and edit what could normally take a lot longer. But he is totally correct in that it is a strange set-up with some strange behaviors so if you don't know what you're doing and plan accordingly it could take a lot longer and be a lot more frustrating than the 'old fashioned' way.
I think it's also important to note that multi-cam is way more than just the "real time" switching of the multiclip in the viewer as it plays back. If you can take time to learn the ins and outs of multi-cam then you can use some features on some jobs and other features at other times. An amateur can do anything that the FCP software because it's there in front of you so play play play!

  • Need help - creating QT movies from iPhoto slide shows

I am creating QT movies from slideshows in iPhoto. I then put the QT movies on a CD. I am having no trouble doing this, but if I give the CD to a Windows user, will she be able to view it? If not, is there any way to make it Windows compatible? Are there any other problems I should be aware of before I give these QT movies for Christmas gifts?

Any PC user that has QuickTime 5, or higher, installed will be able to view your iPhoto slide show movies on the CD.
You must use the Finder to guarantee a PC compatible CD, however.

  • Trouble streaming .mp4 movies from one iTunes computer to another

I have been unable to stream .mp4 movie files from my computer to another using iTunes. The .mp4 files are sitting on an external usb hard drive. All of the files have been added to iTunes library but not the iTunes folder. I tried changing the .mp4 extensions to .m4v to no success. The files do play in itunes but won't stream between computers. The one computer is running 32bit and the other 64 bit. I also tried placing files into the iTunes music folder and that has also been without success. The only thing I have been able to do is streaming .mp4 files that had to be converted by iTunes so they could be played on an iphone. I have tried streaming with home sharing on and with it off. Does any one have any ideas as to why I can't stream and how I can fix this.

Using Ethernet, I am attempting to stream the movies on my computer to my girlfriends computer through iTunes home sharing. I want to watch the movies that are on one computer on another.

  • How to create QT movie with two subtitle streams

What would be the best (and fast) way to create a QT movie (or mpeg-4) to convert the DVD project created in DVDSP with two subtitle streams?
Both subtitle streams were created by importing TIFF files with the corresponding timing file. One stream is for the dialogue (Subtitle Track 1 non-forced) and the other stream is for the onscreen text translation (Sub Track 2 forced). There are times when the T/C of the two tracks overlap, as someone is talking while an onscreen text is displayed.
Is it possible to create a QT movie or any other video format with both streams showing?
    Thank you for your help.

I have discovered that I can merge two QT movies (Each movie with one stream of subtitles/TIFF files) by copying all tracks from one movie to the other. Now I have a QT movie with two subtitle streams. Each subtitle stream is in a video track as animation.
    Thank you for your help.

  • I have been trying to create a movie from a project that is primarily stills and one video clip.  I cannot successfully create the movie without iMovie shutting down unexpectedly.  Any ideas for the cause of the problem?

I am getting an unexpected shut down of iMovie when I try to share a movie from a project that is made up of still pictures, one video clip and music.  Have tried to create the movie several times with different formats and continue to get the message.  When I removed all music I was able to create the movie without a problem but when I added the music back, I was unable to create the movie.  I'm using iMoive 11' version 9.0.9
    Thanks.
    Bill

I'm no expert in iMovie, but I've found that processing memory (as well as sheer hard disk space for the project to 'turn around in') can be a big issue with constructing, editing, and distilling projects in iMovie. I've improved the success by moving 2gb of image files off to an external drive, but only really got moving again on an hour-long project by doubling RAM and again freeing up h/d space.
Some tunes are also an issue, but if you can see it in the iTunes list to place in your project, it should work okay... Does the project run with any other piece of music, or does just that one tune mess it up?
    Good luck,
    Laura

  • Creating a movie from 300 pictures

    Hi,
Is it possible to create a short movie from 300 pictures which have been
created using Blender and are in PNG format (1920 x 1080 pixel).
    I want to create a movie of 10 seconds (MOV, H.264, 20Mbps, 1080/30p).
(If it's too complicated to do using FCP X – is there a utility for this?)
    Many thanks!

If as fox_m states the images are not named sequentially there is a neat app in the app store called Image Photo Bucket which I use to batch rename lots of images .. it can also rezize and much more

  • Transfer mp4 movies from iPad to iPad bypassing PC or Mac

Is it possible to transfer my own mp4 movies stored under Video app from one iPad to another iPad while away from home pc or Mac? I tried three apps: Feem Wifi file Transfer free, Instashare - transfer files the easy way, FileMaster File Manager and Downloader without luck because they only look at camera roll.

As far as I know the only way to get content from the Videos app on one device to another device is via a computer (except for iTunes purchases which you can potentially download on the second device) - the only apps that I know about are like the ones that you mention i.e. they can only see the content of the Photos app, not Videos

  • Creating DVD movies from divx and srt subs...

    Hi people!
Just want to create a dvd movie with a divx movie and the subtitles in srt file format i downloaded,so to play it on my dvd player...
I suppose i must convert the movie first but i don't know to what format, with what program and the command i must use!
Afterwards how can i burn it to a dvd?For burning cds i am using k3b...Suppose i can do that job by selecting "New video DVD project",right?
Sorry for my English but i am from Greece...Thank you!

spumux, part of dvdauthor, is what you need to mux in the subtitles:
    http://dvdauthor.sourceforge.net/doc/spumux.html
That will generate a complete mpeg movie. From there, dvdauthor will produce the correct files for a DVD filesystem. I haven't tried to produce a DVD in well over a year, and I've never worked with subtitles, so I can't get real specific.
So, first I would look into spumux and get that part of your movie handled. Then I'd go back to the Gentoo documentation to learn dvdauthor for the final output. I'm sure there must be some sort of GUI program to make this process a lot easier, but I don't know of any.

  • Creating MP4 file from my Premiere Elements 11 Project

I am publishing my elements11 project as a mp4 file, and  gets "Error compiling movie. Unkown error. Can someone assist with reason and fix for error? If I render the project in timeline view, I do not get an error, but when I am trying to Publish/Share it, the software does not want to compile the movie.

Thanks for the follow up. Great news with regards to the mini test troubleshooting. In view of what seemed to help turn things around in that case, cropping and resizing of photos used in the original should be top of your troubleshooting list.
As for project preset and such....The project preset should match the properties of your source media.
Are you saying that your source media is:
    PAL AVCHD 1920 x 1080 16:9 @ 24 progressive frames per second.
The project preset is set up to be set by the program based on the properties of the first video clip to the Timeline. So, if you do not intervene, the program should be setting your project preset at:
    PAL/DSLR/1080p/DSLR 1080p24
when you drag that AVCHD 1920 x 1080 16:9 @ 24 progressive frames per second clip to the Timeline as the first clip to the Timeline.
If it does not, then you set it manually File Menu/New/Project, making sure that you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project" before existing the New Project dialog. Then you import this file with the program's Add Media.
The major contribution of the project preset is to direct the program to set the correct space in the Edit Mode monitor (in this case 1920 x 1080) from which to edit. So the frame rate does not becomes a deal breaker if it is not 24 progressive frames per second unless you are doing frame to frame editing. But, these project presets have other subtle as well as obvious affects on project settings. So best go with the best match between project preset and source media properties.
That does not necessarily tie you into a particular export.
Please review the original project's settings and Timeline content arrangements. You might have to start cutting up a copy of the original project in a search for an offending clip or effect or transition or other.
    Please review.
Congratulations with your success with troubleshooting on the mini test run.
    .Looking forward to further developments.
    Thanks.

  • What is the best way to create VR movies from a PhotoShop panorama? QTPro?

I found that I have the most success making panoramas using PhotoShop rather than dedicated panorama programs like Panorama Maker. Now that I made a panorama I like in PhotoShop can I use Quicktime Pro to turn it into a VR that someone can navigate? I was hoping that PhotoShop could handle the export to VR but it apparently can do that.

I used PTMac under Leopard on my PPC G5. Not sure if it is still around but here is a sample file for MY BACK YARD. However, it is a dedicated app taking you directly from photos to VR movie or Panoramic views.

If you are using the TV preset, turn off the chapter track. (If using an older version with the same preset, also make sure the AC3 passthrough option is deselected.) I assume you are use an TV preset since you say the file container is M4V. However, even if you use the iPod preset (MP4 file container), be sure to turn off the chapter track. iMovie '08 does not like extraneous tracks like chapter, "Tween", AC3, etc.
