Creating new PKGBUILD - peer review - newbie alert

I've read most of the documentation about creating a new PKGBUILD and have created my own for foobillard.
The docs suggest posting the PKGBUILD here for feedback/criticism. How have I done for a first go? Anything I can do to improve? TIA
#Maintainer: Kabads <[email protected]>

pkgver=2.9

license=('GPL')

prepare() {
cd "$srcdir/$pkgname-$pkgver"
build() {
cd "$srcdir/$pkgname-$pkgver"
./configure --prefix=/usr
make

Maybe now you can fill the template with some data? What dependencies are needed to build the package? What other packages does it depend on? Do you need to use 'epoch'? If not, remove the entry. Are other options (groups, optdepends, provides, etc) needed at all? If not -- remove them. Are you going to create a package or only build the source code (the package group is missing).

  • New PKGBUILDs for calpp and cpyrit-calpp

    Hello
    I wanted to try the calpp backend for pyrit (a WPA cracking utility), but couldn't find them in either the official repositiories or in AUR. There for I have created new PKGBUILDs for these, they work on my system (x86_64 3.1.0-4-ARCH), but as these are my first ones I wanted to post them here for review before I upload them to AUR.
    The main thing I have doubts about are the dependencies. I think I have listed them all but I'm not sure.
    Here is the PKGBUILD for calpp:
    # Maintainer: Martin R. <mr-ger [at] hotmail [dot] com>
    pkgname=calpp
    pkgver=0.90
    pkgrel=2
    pkgdesc="Library to allow writing ATI CAL kernels in C++"
    arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
    url="http://sourceforge.net/projects/calpp/"
    license=('GPL3')
    depends=('amdstream' 'boost')
    makedepends=('cmake')
    source=("http://sourceforge.net/projects/calpp/files/$pkgname-$pkgver/$pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz")
    md5sums=('efc3f519492ac8d3178fe42115ce3637')
    _streamdir='/opt/amdstream'
    build() {
    cd "$srcdir/$pkgname-$pkgver"
    sed -i "s|\$ENV{ATISTREAMSDKROOT}/lib|${_streamdir}/lib|g" CMakeLists.txt
    sed -i "s|\$ENV{ATISTREAMSDKROOT}/include|/${_streamdir}/include/CAL|" CMakeLists.txt
    cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr .
    make
    package() {
    cd "$srcdir/$pkgname-$pkgver"
    make DESTDIR="$pkgdir/" install
    And here is the PKGBUILD for cpyrit-calpp:
    # Maintainer: Martin R. <mr-ger [at] hotmail [dot] com>
    pkgname=cpyrit-calpp-svn
    pkgver=308
    pkgrel=3
    pkgdesc="CAL++ backend for accelerated attack against WPA-PSK authentication, development version"
    url="http://code.google.com/p/pyrit/"
    license=('GPL3')
    arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
    depends=('python2' 'catalyst-utils' 'pyrit-svn')
    makedepends=('calpp')
    conflicts=('cpyrit-opencl-svn')
    _svntrunk='http://pyrit.googlecode.com/svn/trunk'
    _svnmod='cpyrit_calpp'
    _caldir='/usr/include/CAL/'
    build() {
    svn co "${_svntrunk}/${_svnmod}"
    cd "${_svnmod}"
    sed -i "s|VERSION = '0.4.0-dev'|VERSION = '0.4.1-dev'|" setup.py
    sed -i "s|CALPP_INC_DIRS = \[\]|CALPP_INC_DIRS = \[\'${_caldir}\'\]|" setup.py
    LDFLAGS="" python2 setup.py build
    package() {
    cd "${srcdir}/${_svnmod}"
    python2 setup.py install --root="${pkgdir}" --optimize=1
    Thanks in advance
    EDIT = Updated the PKGBUILDs
    Last edited by ozon-eatar (2011-11-30 22:15:56)

    Thanks for the respones Stebalien! I have changed the things you pointed out and updated my first post.
    I have also run namcap on both packages and their PKGBUILDs. The only thing namcap complains about on the PKGBUILDs are the lack of contributer tag, which I think is unnecessary as I'm listed as the maintainer.
    On the cpyrit-calpp package namcap complains about unnecessary dependencies:
    cpyrit-calpp-svn I: Depends as namcap sees them: depends=(catalyst-utils python2)
    I tried this dep array with all packages listed before uninstalled (well, catalyst and libpcap I couldn't uninstall) and it didn't work. When I added 'calpp' to makedepends it worked, and it ran after I uninstalled calpp again.
    As cpyrit-calpp-svn is a backend to the pyrit-svn package and pointless to install without pyrit-svn I added it back to the array. Might add that this is how the dep array looked before:
    depends=('python2' 'openssl' 'zlib' 'libpcap' 'amdstream' 'catalyst' 'calpp' 'pyrit-svn')
    This is what namcap is telling me about calpp:
    calpp I: Depends as namcap sees them: depends=()
    BUT it will neither build nor will it compile one of the examples without both amdstream and boost (not just boost-libs). Therefore I have not changed the dep array for calpp.

  • Create New Service Session at Solution Manager = Product System missing

    We have installed SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 last year but not really use it.
    We have setup in the system landscape:
    Server (ecc6sbx)
    Databases (MCD)
    Product System (MCD) => SAP ERP
    Assigned them to logical component (eg ZECC6DEV)
    RFC destination for MCD was generated
    SDCCN Administration at solutions manager display MCD with SDCCN status in green color.
    At the satellite system MCD, SDCCN Maintenance job was created and scheduled. Initial single run was also done.
    There were no issue. Connection to SDCC_OSS was fine.
    Back to the SOLUTION_MANAGER transaction, we created a new solution ECC ERP - Development.
    In the Solution Landscape => Solution Settings, we have assigned the Logical Component into the System Group.
    However when we expand the tree, and click on the Servers folder it did not display anything.
    Click on the Product Systems also did not display anything.
    We have another Solution Manager which display information on those Servers and Product Systems folder for satellite system.
    Going back to the Solution Manager for the Solution ECC ERP - Development, I tried to Create New Service Session for EarlyWatch Alert. When  I click on the Create button, I could only see SAP EarlyWatch Alert for Solutions, there is no SAP EarlyWatch Alert for the Reference Object MCD (<installation number). I could not create a session for MCD.
    Does anyone have ideas what I am missing here? I am trying to attached a document which have print screen for reference while creating this message, but there is no such function here.
    Adding to link to the document file contain print screen

    Anyway, in the solution manger  how to we setup earlywatch alert for the SM SID host itself (source system)?
    I have the information on the below from our solution manger
    The data for this session is overdue. Data has not yet been transferred from the associated satellite system.
    Go to the Service Data Control Center (transaction SDCCN) in the satellite system and check why the data has not been sent.
    Typical sources of errors are:
    The RFC connection for the SAP Solution Manager system is not working.
    The 'Task Processor' background job, which collects the session data, has been changed.
    Problems arose while data was being collected (see the detail log for the task that collects the session data).
    A periodic 'SDCC Maintenance Package' task has not been scheduled to check whether your SAP Solution Manager system requests session data.
    I tried to go SDCCN on the solution manager itself and look at the Maintenance Service Definitions:
    I get the information:
    No suitable RFC Destination found in SDCCN settings.
    When I click ok I get the following
    No RFC destionation to source system of service definitions available
    Delete Service Definitions (radio button selected).
    I did not continue and cancel it as I did not want to delete anything.
    I check the Task Processor background job is running at SM host itself.
    I managed to get the Maintenance Package job running. However it failed with the following
    Error refreshing service definitions from destination SM_SSMCLNT001_BACK
    Source and target system may not be identical SSM
    The source and target system is the same ==> SSM, will this be an issue?

  • No "create new review" in Premiere 5.0.3

    OK, I have the latest upgrades for all the Adobe programs and Flash too. CS Review works like it is supposed to in Photoshop and Illustrator. The problem is Premiere.
    I don't get an option to Create New Review in Premiere. All I get using the orange (not Blue) CS button (or in Window>Extensions>Access CS  Live) is "CS Review>Learn more".
    I have tried all the suggestions on the forum.
    I have been able to create a Review when directly logged in to Acrobat. I cannot directly upload anything from Premiere. I have to export an F4V or an FLV from Premiere and then go to Acrobat to do an upload. This begs the second question..the more important one at this point:
    I have uploaded a 16MB F4V file to my Review and that went fine. Now when I try to upload another movie with a larger frame size which gives me a 66MB F4V file the upload always fails. The 16MB one is almost too small for review. I am still in the testing phase with the whole deal and wanted to see how the Review handled a second movie..I guess I have to put on the end of the first one and was curious if the time codes would match the separate movies. I would prefer to have the 10 movies I have to upload listed separately in the Review and not be appended if that is indeed what would happen.
    With terrible upload times and the apparent  inability to handle larger file sizes I am at my wits end. I have spent too many hours trying to get this to work correctly from Premiere, which I think may help the upload problem.
    I guess the only other option will be to go back to Vimeo for review...without any interaction and thumbnails in PDF etc.

    Hi,
    We are running a SAP ERP Ecommerce, we get a strange alert box message "no more free items available, please create a new one". This alert window pops up only when you have created one order in a session and you are trying to create another order. Has anyone come across this issue?
    Steps to recreated this issue
    1. Create an order with any product - quantity is rounded to next possible value.
    2. Order created, close the order.
    3. Trying to create new order. (Product field is not a text box anymore)
    4. Try to transfer product from catalog by hitting shopping basket icon.
    5. Error message -> "No more free items available, please create new one".

    Hi there,
         I created new apple id but can't sign in to itunes. It says that your id is not yet loged in so you have to review. In revies it shows payment method in which I provide full info of my visa card but it shows that the pin is incorrect although the pin is correct. If I try another card no then it shows that your payment method is declined. What should I do?????

    Is it asking for a PIN (for a debit card) or the three-digit number on the back of the card (for a credit card)?

  • PKGBUILD Public review request for wxFreeChart

    Hi Arch Linux community.I am a newbie on Arch Linux. Just installed it a few months ago & I like it's install once, lifetime updates without reinstalling philosophy! Please review my first PKGBUILD for wxFreeChart:

    cd "$srcdir/$pkgname"
    make DESTDIR="$pkgdir/" install
    install -D -m644 $srcdir/LICENSE "${pkgdir}/usr/share/licenses/${pkgname}/LICENSE"
    Here is the LICENSE file.
    wxWidgets is currently licenced under the "wxWindows Library Licence" pending
    approval of the "wxWidgets Library Licence" which will be identical apart from
    the name.
    The wxWindows Library Licence is essentially the L-GPL (Library General Public
    Licence), with an exception stating that derived works in binary form may be
    distributed on the user's own terms. This is a solution that satisfies those
    who wish to produce GPL'ed software using wxWidgets, and also those producing
    proprietary software.
    Participants in the discussion that led to this decision include the folk from
    AbiSource, Robert Roebling, Julian Smart, Markus Fleck, Karsten Ballueder, and
    some advice from Richard Stallman. Richard has confirmed that the new licence
    is compatible with GPL'ed applications. However, there are no significant
    restrictions on proprietary applications.
    The wxWindows Library Licence has been approved by the Open Source Initiative.
    In August 2005, an ambiguity in Clause 2 was removed (replaced "the user's"
    with "your") and the version bumped to 3.1.
    ... then this last one is a patch file for the configure script. The code is for version 1.6 but to me it looks like the author forgotten to update the version from 1.4 to 1.6 in the configure script. I ahve checked in freechart/ReadMe.txt saying it is verion 1.6 and confirmed that the 1.6 addition of freechart/src/chartsplitpanel.cpp indeed exists.

    Hi it turns out that the SVN version is the most up to date which does not need to be patched as it has the right version numbers. I have created a new PKGBUILD.

  • Aperture creating new versions unexpectedly

    One of my projects in Aperture started behaving unexpectedly yesterday and I still haven't figured out why. I was reviewing proofs with a client and we were making selections and adjustments to some of the images. We were working in a smart album that was filtered on 5-star ratings. We made a few new versions of some of these images within the smart album, made adjustments, and ultimately selected her picks by adding the keyword "pick" to her selected images. In retrospect I probably will change that flow so that when I make my original selects I will rate them as a 4-star and then up it to a 5-star when the client makes their picks.
    But for now, back to the problem. All was going well with the workflow until I tried to rearrange some of the images within the smart album. When I dragged the first image to a new location it created new versions of several images. I think this happened multiple times before I realized what had happened, so before I new it the album was filled with duplicate versions. I deleted the duplicate versions, but I find that they keep cropping up unexpectedly. If I go to the parent project and then return to the smart album, it makes a duplicate version of every image in the album.
    A light table and a book within the project are now also giving me trouble in that they claim to have images in them, but even with all queries turned off they do not show any of the images (and yes, the "show all images" button is selected).
    Any thoughts on what could be wrong?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Mmm...I don't think this explanation tells the whole story.
    Dragging an image out of the project container and into an enclosed (non-smart) album does NOT automatically generate a new version of the master image local to that album; instead, the album is populated with a new reference to the original version. Dragging that same image again out of the project container - or the first album - to yet another album generates yet another reference to the same underlying version.
    Edits performed in any of these containers propagate to the images in all containers (within a particular project, of course), demonstrating that each type of container holds merely a reference to the project's single original version.
    The Aperture User Manual is a bit ambiguous in its description (Chapter 5 pg 113) of the distinction between "copying" and "moving" images between projects and albums; I believe that when it refers to copying versions it's really talking about copying REFERENCES to versions between various containers.
    So, long story short, I don't think moving images between the various types of containers within a single project can explain your duplicated images.

  • Oracle 8i, Getting ORA-1501 error while creating new DB

    Hi folks,
    I am trying create a new database on an HP Machine (Details given below) but getting following error.
    ORA-1501 - signalled during Create Database
    LOGFILE 'G:\logfiles\logaf1.ora'
    We actually have a custom application setup.exe to create new database.
    Same setup when installed on a different low end machine works fine.
    Before begining the setup in summary page it shows following information.
    Block buffer count = -3 Bytes
    Shared Pool Size = -41425 KBytes
    Yes the values displayed are in negative.
    Don't know if this is the reason for the ORA-1501 error.
    Can anyone please suggest how to resolve this issue.
    Machine configuration is as follows:
    H/W details:
    HP Server with RAID configuration
    4, PIII CPU's
    RAM: "4 GB"
    S/W details
    O.S:Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack-2
    Oracle Version: 8i
    Patch applied: Oracle8i Patch Set Version 8.1.7.3.0

    Try look to alert<SID>.log file for full error report (you could paste it here).
    Also from alert log you could get real values for db_block_buffers and shared_pool_size parameters that used during instance startup.

  • Create new text file in UTF-8 format by default

    I'm working a lot with UTF-8 text files and mainly in this format. It's becoming annoying when I have to manually save every text file as UTF-8.  After several trial-and-errors, I've made up a procedure that I've put in a blog. I think I could share
    it here for those who need it.  Hope it helps.
    http://instrumenti-meliora.blogspot.com/2014/04/create-new-text-file-in-utf-8-format-by.html

    You've made a procedure?
    Are you sure you didn't :
    Didn't what?
    https://www.google.com/#q=change+notepad+default+encoding
    Well, I'm not sure what you want me to see, but your search keywords do
    NOT make sense.  You do note change *Notepad* default encoding.  What you can change is a
    TEXT file's default encoding.
    Well, of course, if you have access to Notepad source code and you're able to change it and re-compile again, then you could really say you change Notepad's "default encoding", which I suppose would mean "default encoding every time we save".
    Why wouldn't you just provide a link (or some attribution) to the top result
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/default-utf-8-encoding-for-new-notepad-documents/525f0ae7-121e-4eac-a6c2-cfe6b498712c
    or a link to watch this done on youtube?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnL6smxQE9k
    The title of that forum post and Youtube video is a non-sense.  New
    "Notepad" document?  Come on!  That's apparently how a newbie think what it is and it's very likely he has not a clue what it is and what he is doing.  And what if I don't use Notepad to create such file?  If I
    use UltraEdit, then mine should be "UltraEdit" document and that should be different from Notepad document, correct? LOL
    The fact that you're able to find this video would also mean you're thinking like him in that the file is really called Notepad document LOL
    For your information, that's called a text file (or document if you prefer this prettier term).  It's also called plain text file.
    Now, let's see the content of both links:
    First of all, why did they tell people to create a new text file somewhere and then
    COPY it to template folder?  That's really so dumb
    LOL  Isn't it more intelligent to create such file directly INSIDE the folder?
    Secondly, their procedures are not foolproof.  What if the Windows directory is not c:\windows?  They should tell people to open %Systemroot%\ShellNew instead.  I suppose they don't even know how this folder is called because
    nowhere is the term "template folder" ever mentioned.
    Thirdly, what if that folder doesn't work for unknown reason (which might happen in XP)?  Did they give any hint to a "failover" folder?  No, they didn't.  But I do in my procedure.
    Fourthly, they are saying as if the file name has to be "TXTUTF-8.txt", but actually we can call it whatever we like.  But smart people would have figured this out at the end.
    5 (I'd stop saying fifthly and so on LOL) I'm not sure it's necessary (or recommended) to change "fSavePageSettings" & "fSaveWindowPositions" DWORD values for Notepad as "advised" in that answer.
    As a side-note, I don't know what
    http://www.pc1news.com/saving-changes-to-notepad-configuration-1216.html is supposed to give but when I open this, I got some uTorrent warning.  Really seems like some malware webpage which tries to deceive people!
    I actually searched how a (generic) new file is created and started from there.
    So, maybe next time when you want to criticize or discredit somebody else, try to be more expert first? ;)

  • Reason for creating New Version Best practice

    Hello SAP Gurus,
    We know we are creating new version of the DIR when it is required to make a change in the original keeping in tact the Older file also for reference,
    we want to know when a new version of the document is getting created how can we specify, why and what made us to create this new Version, we would like to capture this reason in SAP so the user can easily come to know why this Version is created,
    can you please let us know, where actually are we capturing this details while creating the new version,
    i know there are lot of free entry fields like Generic object Text field, Long text field, change the description, place the text in the WR log field of the new Version,
    which is the best practice so that the user can easily come to know the reason why this new version has been created,
    may be they should see this reason details in CV04N search as well, or immediately when opening the new version.
    Thanks and regards
    Kumar

    Hello Kumar
    Hope following explanation will clarify your questions
    We have to classify our documents broadly in two category  1) Controlled document --means which under goes various level of  / Inspection / review / approval etc with in Organisation e.g. Engg Drawing , Standard Operating Procedure for business purpose, best way for this is use Engineering Change Management (ECM)Functiuon and when you make any up versions, you can track / write key docu ment history in ECM
    also when you do up version let say in Micosoft word , you can maintain simple table to track what is purpose of change, in what location you are making chnage and its justification.
    For Engineering drawing of 2D /3D we can use Redlining functions to createt the Lawyers to know reviwers observation so that next version thopse are taken care
    2) Uncontrolled Document---Generally they are less significant from document Change Control point of view
    Hope this is useful
