Creating PDF & Attaching a document to it
Hi All,
I want to create a pdf, attach a document (txt or another pdf) encrypt the file and password protect it.
I would like to know if there are any API for doing the same.
I am using Weblogic 6.1 will it be a constraint from using the pdf api's?

Create pdf attachment to the mail
Hi folks,
My requirement is to attach pdf document to the mail step in workflow programatically and document is on presentation server.
i have tried with SOFM object type, but it is asking for document number , but i could not provide it because it is not in SAP system.
how to acheive this.

Acrobat 8 can't locate scanner to create PDF from printed document using OCR
Hello,
I have an Epson scanner that is my default scanner on my OSX (10.6). Every program I have locates my scanner perfectly except Acrobat 8.0. Is there something I can do?
From the home dialogue box I click "Create PDF from Scanner". The next dialogue box opens and the Tab "Please Select a Device" doesn't let me scroll to find my scanner. So the scan button is greyed out and I can't do anything. Is there something I can do to make Acrobat clearly find my scanner?
-LuisCheck to see if they have a Native (not universal Binary) Twain Driver. Adobe refuses to allow universal Binary Twain Drivers in their programs.
Either use a Software package from the SANE/TWAIN Project. (look up on Google). Or use a Pakage Like SilverFast.
Before downloading the SANE/Twain Driver you have to look and see if the have a package for your current OS and for your particular Scanner. Stayaway from the SDK's unless your a Programer.
Then when you install all the pieces and set up open Acrobat and go to document Create PDF from Scanner choose SANE/Twain. Should be able to scan with it.
If you use SliverFast it is a standalone package Just scan and save as a PDF then open in Acrobat. or save as a Tiff or jpeg. Acrobat hasn't worked with a scanner since Macs went from OS9 to OSX. -
Unable to create PDF from Word document.
I was trying to create a PDF file from a Word document but got the following error message: "An unexpected error occurred. PDFMaker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF" and no PDF was created. There was no error number. Has anyone seen this error and is there a work around. This is Acrobat XI Pro and was installed within the last few days.
Can you print to the Adobe PDF printer? Have you updated AA XI (now at 11.0.05)? What version of WORD (AA XI does not work with PDF Maker on all versions of WORD)?

Handwritten text missing when I create pdf from word document
I have signed (as 'ink') a word document when using a tablet PC. When I convert the document to a pdf, the handwritten signature has disappeared. How can I stop this please? It is not a digital signature.
Please indicate the versions of WORD and Acrobat. Also, tell us just how you are creating the PDF. It may be that Deepak's suggestion works, but he has also made an assumption about how you are creating the PDF.

Creating PDF from Publisher Documents
Have created 11 x 17 poster in Publisher and saved in PDF format...as I have done numerous times with great success until now. When I open the PDF file, it appears it has been saved in a "smaller version;" not scaled down...but missing everything around the edges! I presume I have touched some setting????

Are you using the Adobe PDF Pack to convert the file to PDF? How large is the file? There is a 100 MB file-size limit for uploading files to the online service. That said, please try the following:
Clear the browser cache and try again.
Make sure that you're using a supported web browser: System requirements | Acrobat.com
Make sure there are no firewall/proxy settings that are limiting your access to the Internet.
Try converting a different file to PDF (helps narrow down the problem).

Create PDF from a Word document within Acrobat

I am having trouble to create a PDF from a Word document within Acrobat itself, and not by using PDF Maker in Word. When I try to create a PDF using Acrobat, it gives me the choice to choose any Office format file, but Word format doesn't appear. I can convert from an Excel document or a PowerPoint document, but not from a Word document, even if Word 2010 is installed and works perferctly. Why?
I know I can make a PDF in Word itself by printing to the Adobe PDF printer or by using PDF Maker, but I want to resolve the issue in Acrobat that prevents me to select a Word document in the Create PDF dialog window. You can see the dialog box in the screenshot attached.
Any help would be appreciated.
I am using Acrobat X version 10.1.8 on Windows 7 Home Premium and I have Office 2010 installed (with Word 2010).Thanks for your reply. PDF Maker works in all of my Office applications. However, in Acrobat, the file formats available for me to create PDF from figure all the Office file formats except the one for Word. This is not normal. At my school, Acrobat X and Office 2007 are installed, and I can use there both PDF Maker in Word and creating PDF from Word document within Acrobat.
So I think maybe there's a key in my Windows registry that is not set correctly? or something like that. I repaired the installation of Office 2010, and I did so for Acrobat X too, but it doesn't help. Any idea of how I can resolve that? -
Mail turns PDF attachment into jepg
I use distiller and acrobat to create PDFs from Quark documents; for the last few days, attaching a new PDF to an email in Mail has turned the PDF into a jpeg which PC users can't open. The problem has just cleared itself (without me knowingly doing anything) but it has happened before and I guess may happen again. Any idea of the cause and solution?
What I should have said is Apple should not make the Image Size adjustment an available option when a PDF file is attached to a message.
Yes, this is the answer. Using the term seemed to happen - it either happens or it doesn't but Mail will not and cannot change the file type or the file extension for an attached file without user intervention. Using the Image Size adjustment for a single page PDF file which appears inline or viewed in place within the body of the message does change the file type or file extension for the file from .pdf to .jpg since the Image Size adjustment is intended and can only be used for picture or image file attachments, not with PDF files. -
XMP Metadata Error when creating PDF/A-1b

I just started using Adobe Acrobat X for Mac to create PDF/A-1b documents from scanned TIFs. I created a script in the Action Wizard to 1) Combine Files into a Single PDF; 2)Downsample image resolution to 150 ppi (bitmaps to 300 ppi); 3) Recognize Text;4) Pause to find all suspects and make corrections to incorrect OCR; 5) Convertto PDF/A-1b (sRGB); and 6) Verify compliance with PDF/A-1b.
When I use the Action Wizard to to execute the script above I receive an error message stating "Metadata does not conform to XMP." However, when I execute each of the actions manually I do not receive the XMP metadata error. It takes a long time to execute each action manually, so I am hoping there is some way to make this full script work in the Action Wizard.
I have an open case with Adobe regarding this issue, but so far no solutions.I do not receive an error when the "Verify compliance with PDF/A-1b" action is removed from the script. Does this action have to be performed separately to avoid the XMP metadata error?

I can't create PDFs from CS3 programs in Acrobat Pro XI. Compatibility issue or just Acrobat?
I was just upgraded to Acrobat Pro XI this morning. InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator don't seem to be supported file types for creating a PDF from Acrobat. While I usually create my PDFs from the authoring program, I occasionally need to make a lot of PDFs of different files at once, and making them from Acrobat makes sense instead of opening each individual file.
Is this just a compatibility issue? We have requested upgrades to CS6, but it will be a while before it gets approved (if it gets approved). Did someone think it was a brilliant idea not to allow PDFs from the CS products to be created from Acrobat instead of the authoring program?Can you describe your workflow a little more? Are you saying that you created PDFs of InDesign documents using Acrobat directly -- not using InDesign?
If that was possible in CS3, I must have missed it.
FWIW, I can't select CS6 InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop documents in Acrobat X. You can only select a handful of image formats, HTML or PostScript/EPS. -
How can I use my account when I already purchased a plan to create PDFs from other documents? It is not letting me proceed as if I don't have an account.

After sofware update, computer wont print or create PDFs
On Thursday the computer asked to install updates to some pieces of software, one of them being Adobe Acrobat. I installed the updates. During the installation there was some error message, but it seemed like the updates were installed fine. However, immediately following this, I find that I'm unable to print, or create PDFs (export a document to PDF format from Quark).
In Word, the error message I get when I try to print is "Word cannot print due to a problem with the current printer. Make sure you have a printer selected in Print Center. You may need to print again or adjust your printer settings". I went to the Print Center, and the printer is present, and selected as default.
In quark, when I try to export to a PDF the error message just reads "Unable to open Printer".
HELP! My GF is a graphic designer, she uses this printer for her work, and shes about to kill me. I dont know where to start to figure out the problem.
-PKP-Funk, it is always good practice to Repair Permissions before and after any major upgrade or updates. From the Application/Utilities Folder open Disk Utility, select First Aid from the upper tabs and your hard drive in the upper left hand column. Now run the repair and see if it solves the issue.
If not, boot up from the install CD, once it mounts (X window) go up to the Main Menu under Installer and open Disk Utility. Select First Aid on the right tabs and your hard drive on the upper left column, now run the Repair Disk. If it does not repair run it again. Now select your start up volume in the right column and Repair Permissions. Now quit DU then go up the Main Menu under Installer to Change Startup Disk, select your startup volume and choose Restart.
If this does not solve the issue you may need to go to the Abode site and download a new copy of Acrobat Reader.

How to create a link in a PDF pointing to PDF attachment in the same document.
I have Acrobat Pro 9.3.1 and I want to create a link inside a PDF document which points to the PDF attachment in the same document. Though I'm able to do this with the help of the documentation at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/8.0/Standard/help.html?content=WS58a04a822e3e50102bd61 5109794195ff-7cad.html but the issue is that whenever I click on the link my original document closes and the attached PDF opens.

Can I create an 'attach files' button in a pdf form?
Hello,
I'm working on a mac and want to create and 'attach files' option to my briefing form. Clients will access the form in reader, attache word documents then submit the form.
I have no javascript experience and am not too advanced with Acrobat so will need very basic instructions if it is possible.
