Creating Room Instance from Web Dynpro Development Component

Hi Experts,
I would like to instantiate a Room Instance based on a pre-created Room Template from within a Web Dynpro Development Component. I had a look at the Collaboration Rooms API Cookbook, which provides all the code examples I need, but which asks that I import the following classes:
import com.sap.ip.collaboration.room.api.IRooms;
import com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntime;
Problem is I don't have and can't find those libraries. I am developing in a track on the DTR and all solutions that I have found to the problems thus far require me to import a local jar file. Surely I should rather import a Software Component with the required library into my project? Does anyone know what the name of this Software Component is or what the correct way is to do this?
Also, a somewhat related problem. If I want to create a Room Instance from an Application Service, how would I go about doing this. Unlike with a Web Dynpro project, I can't setup the build path or Used DCs, so how will I gain access to that library?

Beevin, thanks for the reply.
I am aware that adding the jars manually to the build path is a possibility, but isn't this a local only solution? What I mean is, lets say I do this and check the code into the DTR - surely the code won't compile on my co-workers' machines as the paths to the jar files are different for them? Unless you mean to somehow add the jar file from the server, in which case could you please elaborate on how to do this?
This still doesn't solve the application service problem, does it? How can I access those library from the CAF DC?

Web service in Web Dynpro development Component

Hi All,
I have created a web service in SAP GUI and I have saved the WSDL file on my local PC.
Now when I create a web service model in a simple web dynpro project it works perfectly.
But when I do the same in a web dynpro development component; as soon as the web service model instance is associated with the activity in the DTR my application get hanged. I have to quit my NWDS. When I reopen NWDS my application shows following errors:

Hi Sidharth,
Which version of NWDS you are using. I was facing the same problem with SP16 sometime back.
I did find a workaround to do that. See, whenever you will create the WS Model in Web Dynpro DC, it will ask you to add some file in DTR..right!!........ do one thing press "Cancel" or "No" there. Then studio will ask one more time to add the files, in different dialog box though. Add the files from the second dialog box rather than the first one.

Creating Sales Order from WEB Dynpro

Background:
My client has the requirement to front end SAP Sales Order Create with a WEB Dynpro screen.
This WEB Dynpro screen is used to enter minimum data required to create a sales order, plus custom VBAP fields, (added to VBAP using append structure).
I am using BAPI_SALESDOCU_CREATEFROMDATA2 to create the sales order. All is working fine.
New Requirement:
Client now has an additional requirement to calculate Net Value (VBAK-NETWR and VBAP-NETWR) based on item conditions and a custom item field VBAP-ZZUSE. I have all the data I need to calculate custom Net Value (VBAK-NETWR and VBAP-NETWR), however these fields are is not available in BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2, structure BAPISDH1 or structure BAPISDITM.
Question:
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have searched for a different BAPI where NETWR is available, but can find none. An option I am considering is to code a custom BAPI that uses RV_SAPES_DOCUMENT_UPDATE where both VBAK and VBAP are available, just to update NETWR. This function is used during execution of VA01.
Any other suggestions or ideas?

Additional Information:
My client is a services based client.
For example a material represents a service (drilling) this material is priced at value per day. Number of days is stored in VBAP as a custom field ZZUSE. The requirement is to use existing condition and ZZUSE (number of days 1 - 99) to calculate Net Value and update VBAK-NETWR and VBAP-NETWR based on condition and ZZUSE.
I can not allow BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2 to calculate VBAK-NETWR and VBAP-NETWR based only on conditions.
Does this clarify my requirement? Do you have any suggestions?

Error trying to create https connection from Web Dynpro

I am trying to create a WD view with an actionButton and a form template, when the user fills the data in the form and presses the button, i want to create an Https connect and post some parameters to the URL.

hi,
your question is very unclear and does not relate to performance.
SRM uses webdynpro ABAP so the recommendation will not help.
Do you need a technical UI element?
Or the application table where the business data of an UI is stored???
If it is the later, then you can use the SQL trace, change to element you are interested in, and trace it. The table should appear in the trace in connection which an UPDATE command. Still a bit cimbersome.

Closing web browser from a Web Dynpro (ABAP) component in it

Hi,
I am opening a Web Dynpro component in IE.
I have a requirement to close the Internet Explorer window on click of a "Close" Button in Web Dynpro (ABAP) component. I am using EXIT Outbound plug of the Main Window to perform the same.
In the EXIT plug I am setting "CLOSE_WINDOW" parameter to ABAP_TRUE.
On click of the "Close" button a pop-up dialog box (with "Yes" and "No" buttons) appears asking me whether I really want to close the IE window.
If I click on "Yes" button of the dialog box, the IE window gets closed without any issues.
But when I click on "No" button, the IE window shows up a blank screen. I want the control to come back to the calling Web Dynpro component's screen.
Appreciate any help/guidance in the above issue.

CAF DB Update for CAF Entity Service from Web Dynpro

I have created an entity service in CAF called Contacts which contains the following attributes.

cellNo
emailID.
Another entity service called "Person" is created. This contains the following attributes.

contactsRef. (Cardinality -> 0..n , Relational Type -> Composition)
That means Contacts entity service is used within Person entity service. Now it is working fine within CAF service browser. Now the Web Dynpro DC of CAF application is used within another custom Web Dynpro DC project. I want to store data from Web Dynpro.
Within the context of component controller of Web Dynpro the structure is like

Could anybody help me how can I solve my problem?

Hi Chandan,
Can you do person.getRelatedModelObjects() and get the contact object, to check whether it is null, also check in the CAF DB whether the data you entered is present.
I am not sure the code is actually adding the contact model object to person.
Go thru this SDN Blog on usage of the CMI API's, there is a link for CMI documentation in it which might help you get the right code for adding the contact object.

Pass Parameters to an external appl when launched from web dynpro ABAP .

I want to Pass Paramaters to an external application when launced from Web dynpro ABAP . I have successfully launched an .exe file ( Notepad / eViewHSEditor ) from Web dynpro using the logic from Standard WD_TEST_APPL_ACFEXECUTE component But I am unable to Pass paramters to the .exe file .
example :- I would like to pass parameters text1 text2 in the arugement list and I expect it opens an untitled notepad and in the file it will have parameters text1 text2 . But it is behaving in a different way . Below are the detailed steps of what I have done .
The steps that I followed :-
1) Right now I have created the white list Configuration for Notepad.exe
2) I have created 1 and 2 postions both of type string and permission Legal .
3) The Paramter Value is * for both 1 and 2 .
4) I activated the whitelist and it generated an .XML file

when i execute the application , it is trying to launch a notepad with file 'text1 text2.txt' and it doesn't have one , it is asking do you want to create . If You yes, it will open notepad with name 'text1 text2.txt' . If you Pass abcd in the arugement list , if the file with name abcd.txt exists , it opens the notepad with that file name .

You try to open notepad from your PC with the same command, you will the same result.
start->run->notepad "test1 test2". You get the popup saying that "test1 test2" file is not existing. You can google it to find a way to pass the text while opening notepad and try to fit that in your WebDynpro argument. I doubt if it is possible though.

SICF Access for Web Dynpro Development

Developer wants access to SICF to be able to test any Web Dynpro Development. Currently no developer has access and Basis only gives access when requested - and only for short time. I believe developers should have access. Wondering how others have this setup. Thanks!

Are you sure? Or is the tcode check only appearing somewhere in a trace?
If that is true, then ICF service developers will anyway be able to start SICF directly. Please check the coding location of the check from the trace, if it is calling FM AUTHORITY_CHECK_TCODE (which I suspect it is...) then verify in SE97 that an SE80 developer can use (limited, coded...) SICF functionality from other contexts without starting it directly.
What you can also do is protect the ICF services using the authorization group concept (including those you are not using...). If the developer wants to use one (in a new development) then it should be released for them by granting them access to it (authorization object S_ICF_ADM in their role) for development work and then ideally object S_ICF added to the service user they are using for development as well. If they are developing the role for the application together with the application coding development (this is the ideal scenario in my opinion for a knowledgable developer) then give them that access as well in PFCG for the role they are developing.
I think it can safely be said that most developers can be trusted, but also to do stupid things though... and they enter their own user ID in the connection data..
That is a reality. If you trust them and train them and collaborate with them to improve security - then they will be your best friends and understand more about security as well (to protect themselves from their own user ID's...).

Calling Batch input from Web Dynpro - any alternatives for table updates?

Hi!
I am asked to create a screen in Web Dynpro for the GJ30 transaction (JV Cutback mapping of WBS' elements). I created a remote enabled function module which call batch input for GJ30 . Testing the Function modules direclty goes fine, but not calling the function module from WD. then I get the same error message as when I once tried to call SAP GUI from Web Dynpro ( Call transaction /submit program).
My next step is to try to create a batch input session (instead of call transaction) and run it using rsbdcsub, and then check the result of the run. But maybe this will fail of the same reason as well, and I suppose this will make the user waiting longer for the response .
I read somewhere that Web Dynpro does not support batch Input. But what can you do when there are no standard BAPI's for the update you want to do in SAP ? We are not supposed to do direct table updates.
Anyone who have struggled with the same issues and found a solution??

as BDC is calling screens and in Webdynpro ABAP you cannot use SAP GUI sceeen, you are getting short dump.

Trigger File Generation to a Server from Web Dynpro Application

Hi Everybody! Hope you had a good new years eve
Is it possible to generate a File on a Server outgoing from Web Dynpro?
I tried to use GUI_DOWNLOAD. But as I couldn't use the GUI_DOWNLOAD from the Web Dynpro, I wrote a Report "ZCMI_EXPORT_FILE" that generates a Text-File. When I start the Report by myself, the file gets generated. All fine.
To be able to generate the File from Web Dynpro, I created a Batch Input Function Module, that I call in the Web Dynpro. The File is not created and it does not show any errors.
Do you have any idea how i can get this working? I'd also be happy with a different approach.

GUI_DOWNLOAD does not get's executed in the Backgroud.
there is no way to do it as a background job.. create the folder.. transfer the file to the application server in the backgorund using OPEN DATASET... use the tcode CG3Y to download the file from the app server to your folder..

Portal dynamic iView from Web Dynpro ABAP?

I wish to use a "Dynamic iView" from a Web Dynpro ABAP application, but it appears the API is only available in Web Dynpro Java. Can this feature be used from Web Dynpro ABAP, or can this be accomplished in another way?
Scenario: I have two iViews on a page, one Web Dynpro ABAP and another iView whose source I want to change dynamically based on something a user clicks in the Web Dynpro ABAP.

I would like to know is it possible to create portal user-id through web dynpro abap application.
