Creating tabular form using SQL query

Hi,
I need to create a tabular form using an SQL query so that multiple rows of a table are displayed on screen and are editable to the user.
I have created this sort of form before using the Tabular Form wizard however for this form I need to enter SQL to produce it.
The steps I take are:
1. Create Page
2. Page with Component
3. Form
4. Fow on a SQL query
5. For the query I have: 'select * from depot_master_customer'
However when I view the page, it just displays one blank field with the title '*' !!
I am doing something completely wrong here? It seems like it should be a simple thing to do.
Any help appreciated, this one is driving me mad.

You will need to manually create the tabular form and DML process. This is covered in detail in the How To document shown below:

would like to know if its possible to create a custom view (logical table) by writing a sql query (without use the existing tables in the business model).

Not in BMM layer but you can achieve this in Physical layer.
In physical layer --> Create New Physical Table --> select table type as Select

My requirement is i created a tabular form manually using apex collection but if i click on add row button then previously selected data refreshed and added new row in this form it is fine.but i don't want to refreshed previously selected data and click on add row button then add new row .how it is possible? plz help

but i want item in tabular form textfield with autocomplete and remove select list. my requirement is using textfield with autocomplete select a employee name and second item textfield with autocomplete display dependent perticular employee related multiple task.

I understand that the add row button is currently doing a submit.
To not submit the page you need a dynamic action on the page.
Does the javascript function addRow do what you want?
Otherwise have a look at the following two threads Add row in manual tabular form using dynamic action and Accessing Tabular Form & Add Elements to Collection without Page Submit.
You're process could be something like:
Add the new values to the collection using the idea's in the second thread and at the same time add the new row.
And as second action refresh your tabular form.
If you get stuck set up what you have done on apex.oracle.com using the tables from the demo application.

Creating a ad-hoc calculation using sql query

I want to know if its possible some way to create a ad-hoc sql query inside a workbook so as to create a calculation using that sql.
I have a folder which gives me balance for any period. My requirement is to display current period balance along with prior years closing balance in same record for each code combination. I dont want to modify folder definition.

You could try creating a custom function for this purpose. You would need to register the function in the End User Layer and then you can call the function from your report.

Search criteria on manually created tabular form

Hi All,
Apex v4.0
DB 11g
In a page I have created one manually tabular form using collection .
My requirement is :- Search criteria on the form based on 3 column field of that form.
I tried to use LIKE, EQUAL in the select statement of the query. BUT search option is not working .
When I tried to search ,it doesn't return anything.
But its working on wizard base TF.
I am not sure this one option for search criteria on the manually created TF.
Kindly suggest any other way we can achieve it.

Remember that the values on an apex page is only accessible once you submit your page.
And for tabular forms the values needs to be processed to the apex collections after you submit.
For better understanding what happens inside the collections I suggest that you always make a conditional report with
select * from apex_collectionsand Condition
Where Value of item in expression1 = Expression2
Expression1
DEBUGExpression2
YESThis way you can show the content of your collections easily by just enabling debug.

Select list in a manually created tabular form

I created a select drop down item in a manually created tabular form. When I run the page, it also shows the null value '%'. How do I edit this?
This is the line I am using in the SQL:
htmldb_item.select_list_from_query(34,IN_PGRS_STAT_DSC,'select distinct STAT_DSC, STAT_DSC from PROJECT_STATUS_REF') IN_PGRS_STAT_DSC,

And the select list doesn't work. It gives me an error message if I have the form to display one extra empty record and the select list. But even with the select list, if I don't include the extra row, it works properly.
report error:
ORA-06550: line 1, column 13:
PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "COLLECT" when expecting one of the following:
:= . ( @ % ;

What I also realized is that the drop down shows the value 7. But the table is empty with no records. I have no idea where this number 7 is coming from?

ReportViewer using SQL Query error states: Incorrect syntax near ','.

    Using Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008 I created a Windows Application
that uses SQL Server Reporting Services. The application uses ReportViewer and
calls a method written using SQL query.
            1-First I created the form.
            2-Next I dragged the ReportViewer (Toolbox) and Table (from DataSource) onto the form.
The problem is that when it reaches the last line of the SQL query (ie, da.Fill(ds, "TableOne");)
the code fails stating the error message:
            "Incorrect syntax near ','."
     The following is the code behind the form containing the query:

The *= is old syntax and not compatible with SQL Server 2012 (as stated in the comments).
You could do something like this instead
SELECT sso.SpecialOfferID
,Description
,DiscountPct
,ProductID
FROM Sales.SpecialOffer sso
left outer join Sales.SpecialOfferProduct ssop on sso.SpecialOfferID = ssop.SpecialOfferID

2 manually created tabular form on the same page based on 2 different table

Hi, I followed the how to document on manually creating tabular form, including one extra row.
The first form I created works fine, but when I attempt to create the second tabular form based on a different table on the same page, I get the following error message when I try to create the query:
ORA-04045: errors during recompilation/revalidation of PUBLIC.X ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid
The logic behind both tabular forms I am using is the same, except that for the second query, I use 100 instead of 1, 300 instead of 3, etc:

Hi,
If by "100 instead of 1" you mean the column numbers, then this won't work as you can only have a maximum of 50.

Or direct SQL access to SAP MDM tables is not possible. Only through MDM Syndicator can we export data.

All the tables you create in Repository comes under A2i_CM_Tables in Database named as your repository name. So the tables names are fields of table A2i_CM_Tables. Now i tried it but cant make it.
Now, I dont think its possible to extract all fields in tables and there values using select query. May be pure sql guy can do that or not.
But there is no relation of data extraction and syndicator. Data is viewed in Data Manager. and you can also store data in a file from DM also.

Error when creating tabular form with wizard Apex 4.01

Hi,
I just created a tabular form using the page creation wizard on a table and am showing 50 rows at a time and am getting error:
mod_plsql: /pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept HTTP-400 Too many arguments passed in. Got 2225 parameters. Upper limit is 2000
It doesn't matter how much data I put in --even just a couple rows updated. I also reduced rows to 20 and still get same message.
Anyone else seen this error?

It returns about 1100 records which i think is not much.
But even when i narrow the amount of records the problem is not solved.

I have requirement to create a tabular form but the problem is, the table which I am using in the application don't have any Primary key, I am using only one table can't change any thing in table.(i.e can't add any row in table,no change in data model)
How can I create tabular form when primary key is not available.

and create a tabular form on this view. You can use

I'm not sure about cognos, if you can create an ODBC connection you can try using that in SQL load rules and see if that works.
