Log on to your SAP BI
Transaction code RSA1LEAD YOU TO MODELING
1.. Creation of Info Objects
In left panel select info object
Create info area
Create info object catalog ( characteristics & Key figures ) by right clicking the created info area
Create new characteristics and key figures under respective catalogs according to the project requirement
Create required info objects and Activate.
2.. Creation of Data Source
In the left panel select data sources
Create application component(AC)
Right click AC and create datasource
Specify data source name, source system, and data type ( Transaction data )
In general tab give short, medium, and long description.
In extraction tab specify file path, header rows to be ignored, data format(csv) and data separator( , )
In proposal tab load example data and verify it.
In field tab you can you can give the technical name of info objects in the template and you not have to map during the transformation the server will automatically map accordingly. If you are not mapping in this field tab you have to manually map during the transformation in Info providers.
Activate data source and read preview data under preview tab.
Create info package by right clicking data source and in schedule tab click star to load data to PSA.( make sure to close the flat file during loading )
3.. Creation of data targets
In left panel select info provider
Select created info area and right click to create ODS( Data store object ) or Cube.
Specify name fro the ODS or cube and click create
From the template window select the required characteristics and key figures and drag and drop it into the DATA FIELD and KEY FIELDS
Click Activate.
Right click on ODS or Cube and select create transformation.
In source of transformation , select object type( data source) and specify its name and source system Note: Source system will be a temporary folder or package into which data is getting stored
Activate created transformation
Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes
In extraction tab specify extraction mode ( full)
In update tab specify error handling ( request green)
Activate DTP and in execute tab click execute button to load data in data targets.
4. Monitor
Right Click data targets and select manage and in contents tab select contents to view the loaded data. There are two tables in ODS new table and active table to load data from new table to active table you have to activate after selecting the loaded data . Alternatively monitor icon can be used
Assign points if useful.

Currency & Unit creation in Cube

Hi,
Could anyone guide me the Steps for using of currency field from start to end in BI 7.0.
Am trying with a small example where keyfields contains a currency or unit infobject.
a) created infoobject with Quantity field as Unit and Price as Currency
b) Created a Cube, with Unit & Currency dimensions
c) Created a Infosource, able to see Unit & Currency fields
d) Created transformations by using cube, able to map fields automatically
e) Am unable to proceed from DTP onwards.
I request you to please provide the steps of currency creation.

Its not a standard datasource.
I created my own Characteristics & KeyFigures Infobjects for practice. In that i added Amount as Currency and Quantity as Unit key figures.
I want to generate a simple report with creating Cube by Currency & Unit fields.
Could you please provide Step by Step for these in BI 7.0.

Hi ,
I am trying to migrate the Transaction data sources before moving into the DEV from Sandbox.
So i have to delete the existing TR/UR's and trying to create the transformation, but while creating transformation fields mapping is not happend automatically. (For manul field mapping the transaction data is the time taking process)
We are using the spk 8 . Please let me know any one has faced the above problem .

Creation of cube

hi experts
can u any body tell me when creating a cube u have only one transaction data source and in that u have char and keyfig .
here my doubt is how to take in the cube i will take all the kf in the kf tab wat abt that char if that is not in the master data its a direct char from r3 whether i have to create diamension for each char in the cube .
hope my doubt is clear to every one .

anand 13 dimensions are the max you can deifine in your cube
and it is not a thumb tule to map one char or kf from source to cube in one dimension
you decide which are the logically related char and then create one dimension in Cube and put them under one dimension
you need not create a dimension for key figures from your souce as you can directly put them under key figures tab.
As said earlier you can have 248 char in one dimension but that doesnt mean you should put all of them under one dimension ,
make a logical grouping and then put ur char accordinly in ur dimensions if you do the wrong grouping of char under ur dimensions you dimension table may explode due to too many wrong combinations or combinations which are not required.

According to your description, you want to use SSIS package to create cube partition. Right?
In Integrated Services, you can create cube partition with script task. Using the script task, you can save and modify partition through AMO (Analysis Management Objects). Please refer to the link below:

Indexes creation for cubes

Hi all,
I cretaed a Cube in the BW system. When I choose infoprovider>cube>manage>performance, we have two indexes options: "check indexes" and "check aggregate indexes", I would like to know the difference between them.
Below we have the "data base statistics section", when I click the "create statistics (batch) button", a new screen is shown, and there you can select two options: "refresh DB statistics after each data load" and "also refresh statisctics after delta upload", I would like to know the meaning of both options.

Infocube Index
InfoCubes (fact, dimension tables) are fully indexed and usually do not require additional indices.
The indexing as follows: Fact Table (consists of dimension IDs and key figures) B-tree indices for InfoCube dimensions (high cardinality) should be set only in special cases. The dimension should be very large (in comparison to the fact table) and the maintenance time for bitmap indices (deletion and re-build) should have significant impact. You should be aware of the fact that the B-tree index cannot be used for the star join and hence, reduces query performance. Data Extraction failure from DSO to Cube

Hello Experts,
The Data load to Cube( zfiar_c03) from DSO (zfiar_03) using a full
update is failing throwing the error message"Incomplete update due to
errors in single records ".We had deleted the failed request from
infocube and loaded the the same req from psa by correcting or removing
the # values but it failed again resulting in the same error.
When we checked the previous successful requests which got loaded to
cube from dso it also contains the # values , but the loading was
successful.
our BW reporting is seriously impacted due to the failure coz our
collection,recievables..etc all business critical report is based on
this cube.

I am not sure what the actual problem is. But, from my prior experience, I fell this is related to the Process chain configuration provided you are using process chains.
If you are using a process chain , please check if there is any other failed step in the Process chain. If that is the case, even if the failure due to invalid entries is fixed the QM status of the load to the cube will not turn Green till the process chain status turns green or yellow. You can check from the details tab of the info-package load run and see if the process chain log step is red. If this is the case, then you will have to take action to see that other steps are completed succesfully. And also the Process chain in this case needs to be modelled in a way, such that, when a load to a cube fails the successive steps like creation of cube indeces should not be triggered.

Creation of index in BW

Hai Experts,
pls tell me what is the purpose of index and how can we create indexes in sap bw
when we are going to create indexes in real time projects(bw).

Hi,
Indexes are data structure sorted values containing pointer to records in table.
Indexes are use to improve data reading performance / query performance improvement but decreases data loading/writing performance .We delete/drop them during the data loading to data target and create again after loading finished. In BW normally we include this in process chain.In process chain before loading the data to cube use the delete index process and load the cibe and create index.
If you perform index creation for cube in the perforamence tab it is created automatically by the sysem.
What are indexes
what are the indexes of info cube and use
Infocube > Manage > Performance > Create(Repair) Index/Delete Index.
Database Indexes
With an increasing number of data records in the InfoCube, not only the load, but also the query performance can be reduced. This is attributed to the increasing demands on the system for maintaining indexes. The indexes that are created in the fact table for each dimension allow you to easily find and select the data. When initially loading data into the InfoCube, you should not create the indexes at the same time as constructing the InfoCube, rather only afterwards.
The indexes displayed are the secondary indexes of the F and E fact tables for the InfoCube. The primary indexes and those defined by the user are not displayed. The aggregates area deals with the associated indexes of the fact table for all aggregates of an InfoCube.
Checking Indexes
Using the Check Indexes button, you can check whether indexes already exist and whether these existing indexes are of the correct type (bitmap indexes).
Yellow status display: There are indexes of the wrong type
Red status display: No indexes exist, or one or more indexes are faulty
You can also list missing indexes using transaction DB02, pushbutton Missing Indexes. If a lot of indexes are missing, it can be useful to run the ABAP reports SAP_UPDATE_DBDIFF and SAP_INFOCUBE_INDEXES_REPAIR.
Deleting Indexes
For delta uploads with a large quantity of data (more than a million records), you should not align the database indexes of the InfoCube with every roll up, rather delete the indexes first, and then completely reconstruct them after rolling up.
Repairing Indexes
Using this function you can create missing indexes or regenerate deleted indexes. Faulty indexes are corrected.
Build Index
You can delete indexes before each data load and then rebuild them again afterwards. You can also set this automatic index build for delta uploads.

Iterating inside a script task - SSIS 2012

Hi,
in order to create SSAS partitions I need to read a SQL Server table where I've year and month value.
So I think to iterate for each row inside the data set returned by the read operation and for each year and month value to create a SSAS partition.
Is it better to read the SQL Server table outside the script task? How can I iterate for each row in the dataset inside the script component?
Any suggests to me, please?

I've done similar requirement as below
1. Create a object type variable
2. Use Execute sql task to populate the recordset with partition information from the query. Use resultset option as Full resultset and map to object variable with index 0 in resultset tab
3. Use a For Each Loop with ADO enumerator and map to object variable. Then have variables inside to get individual field values
4. Add script task inside loop and pass the variables inside and use it to build your script task for partition processing. If you want you can also use analysis services DDL task for this too.

Logical Partition of infocube

We have a cube logical partitioned by sales org. We now would like to add additional sales org's to the list. Is this possible?? Currently with data in the cube it is blocked. Does anyone know steps to re-logical partition a cube?? With/or without data re-loading? Any options at the database level (oracle)?

Yes that is correct you cant do cube partitioning with existing data.
Another important thing is based upon selection conditions only you can do the partitioning. There are two selection conditions they are as follows.
1. 0CALMONTH
2. 0FISCAL YEAR PERIOD
if these two time characteristics were not used in the cube means you can't partition the cube.
STEPS TO PARTITION THE INFOCUBE:
for example if you have Sales and Distribution cube you want to do logical partitioning on that cube.
we have to create infocube with same structure ( this we can do by giving the technical name of the cube in copy from option) at the time of creation of cube. Activate the cube and come back.
then you should create update rules for that cube.
select the first cube right click on it choose the option generate export datasource.
the system will finish generation process.
select the infosource option on the left side of the AWB.
in that we have DATAMART select it choose refresh icon.
you get the infosource with datasource assignment.
select the data source right click on it choose create infopackage.
it will take you to the maintain infopackage screen.
here you need to select the datatarget tab and select the target into which the data need to be updated.
schedule it and start.
now manage the data target and check the data has been updated or not.
after doing all this process go to infoprovider select the first cube delete the data.
now depending upon your requirement do the partitioning.
double click on the cube it will take you to the edit infocube screen from the menu bar select extras it will display the partitioning option select it.
then it will popup one small wizard showing the time characteristics based upon your requirement choose which ever you want check that box and continue the process.

Irrelevant id's under 'Database Fields' for BW query

Hi all,
I am new to Crystal reports and have a problem.
I installed Crystal Reports 2008 and as integration kit (with BW), i installed 3.1 version.
I am trying to connect a bw query to the Crystal Reports.
Now i can connect a bw query, but in 'Fields Explorer' under 'Database Fields' i can not see proper names. I have already selected 'show description ' setting.
There are items like, Cube creation time, cube type, data update time etc.. and for key figures, there are lots of items that starts with M~[Measures].....
Some of my collegues have the same version and it is working just fine. So I wonder, what is wrong with mine.
What can be the problem?

Settings button can be found in the SAP toolbar.
Also in Menu bar, you can see 'Settings' under SAP menu.
By the way, integration kit has to be installed beforehand.

BW Authorization Objects

Hi,
I am new to BW and involved in developing roles...
My manager asked me to develop a role by which the user can do following actions in BW
1) Create New Cubes,ODS & Multi Providers
2) Create/ Delete new queries on all data targets
3)Data Loads-start,monitor and delete
4) Process chains-create,schedule,delete.
My requirment is to develop a role for a developer in development system...please list me all the authorization objects (standard) in need to use for creating a rol;e for a developer .

you need to use : S_RS_ICUBE - For Creation of Cubes
                          S_RS_ODSO - For ODS Objects
                          S_RS_MPRO - For Multiproviders
as you want to create and delete queries :
S_RS_ICUBE , S_RS_COMP , S_RS_COMP1 , S_RFC , S_GUI, S_BDS_DS, S_USER_TCD.
For loadings and other stuff...
