Creative Zen - video converter issues

I've been trying to convert AVIs and MKVs to view on my Creative Zen and keep running into a problem.
No matter what settings I seem to use on any video converter, my player refuses to play the resulting WMV.
I am encoding to as close as possible to the required specifications, making sure no bitrate, frame rate, or resolution is too high for the player, but nothing seems to want to play.
Exactly what settings are required to convert a file to work on a Creative Zen?
I know the Creative Video Converter works, but the time taken to convert each file is far too long.

Here I would like to offer you my opinions.
First, we should have a basic information of Creative Zen. In terms of its formats supported, it generally supports AVI, WMV, MPG, MPEG-, MPEG-2 and MP4. But there are still some users feeback that it can not perfectly accept AVI. Okay, based on my own experience using video converters, I am sure that Moyea Video Converter got via Google can definitely help solve the problem.
Step one: free download Moyea Video Converter and install it.
Step two: load AVI and MKV files to this program, select output format as "Creative Zen-Zen Player Video (.*WMV)" from pull-down menu of Format, and then locate the destination folder.

Zen video converter problem..the size comes out way to B

I dont understand I just finished converting a .wmv music video with the software my zen v plus player came with and the file size came out to 98mb when it was originally 20mb. Why does it do that? shouldnt the size be smaller?

I have also tryed to pass a .avi file into the player and the converter pass the file from 30MB?to 300MB. I have tryed to use a preconverter to leave files smaller, but it doesn't work. Does anybody have a solution?

Creative Zen 8gb power issue.

Hello all, new to the forums. I was wondering if you could help me with an issue with my Zen. When I plug it in on a desktop(Windows xp) it tells me that the usb has exceeded power limit and if i plug my Zen into my laptop(Windows 7) it shuts the laptop down completely and i have to restart. I plug it into my wifes laptop(windows vista) and it shuts down as wekll. I have formatted the Zen to the new firmware and back to some older ones as well, and now it wont start because i cant recharge it. Any thoughts.

!On a motherboard, normally manufacturers enable 2-4 ports works on one USB interface. These are the ports you usually see in front of your CPU and most likely connected to just one USB interface (hub) on the motherboard. The USB ports, connected to your mohterboard interface, only outputs so much power. If a device or devices attached to this hub exceeds the power output either the speed slows down or device won't function at all that is why some USB devices require their own wall chargers.
If you are getting "USB device has exceeded the power limits" error,this maybe caused by a damage USB port or the device just sucks too much power on the USB hub (which I doubt). You can try unplugging the other USB devices connected and connect only the player and see if that helps or use the rear USB port which I suggested above. But on your case, you tried this with two laptops and both shuts down when the player is connected so this could be an issue with the player already. With that said, I can only suggest to contact customer support and have it repaired.

Just wanted to mention - I bought the IR Remote thinking to make the player useful without navigation keys. Now I feel like I wasted more money instead of shifting to some other player by some other company with better customer service.

Video conversion issue for zen vision m 3

hi all im brand new to the forum. i seem to have 2 issues.firstly i cant find any free software to convert dvd to a file format supported by my zen vision m.anyone have any ideas?secondly (and this is the big one), i am really disappointed with the video feature of my vision.i had a zen micro before and thought it was fantastic.software was great, menu system was great.so when it was time to upgrade there was no question it was going to be a creative again.but when it comes to the supposedly supported video file formats i feel i've been duped.if i use the video converter in the software (for avi from my camera to wmv)?it tells me theres no audio.it wont work with mp4 files at all.that just freezes my zen.why do they claim it supports mp4 when it doesnt ?has anyone got this problem too?i have the latest firmware upgrade so it cant be that. thanks folks

I use AVS Video Converter from http://www.avsmedia.com/. I think it costs about $30 if I remember right. It converts practically?everything that isn't protected. They even have presets for the Zen Vision, although not for the Vision:M or Vision:W. However, it lets you easily make your own presets. The program is fast and very easy to use once you learn it. However, there is a bit of a learning curve. It has a good, simple interface but they don't hold your hand. The help is also very good. I've been using it for about 2 years and I'm glad I have it. By the way, I'm a customer of theirs and I don't get anything out of posting this. Barry?

Video Converter Freezing on Zen Visio

Hi all,?Everytime?I try to do video conversion using the video converter that came with the Zen Vision:M software it will completely lock up my machine. I called tech support and they suggested Uninstalling and reinstalling the creative software in a clean boot, which I did. The problem still happened, then they told me "Sorry, we can't help you anymore...check the website for updates" I'm converting various types of AVI files. Some from digital cameras, the internet, and newly encoded files but they all freeze. I know I could just copy them to the player, but the point of the video converter is to reduce the size when it's on the player so I'm not wasting space. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It seems that most video subscription services do not work with the Zen Vision: M or W but I have found that Amazon Unbox works with these players. You download the program from Amazon (Free)? then you purchase or rent the videos that you want to see and they will download to your computer then the downloaded program from Amazon will trnsfer them to your device. Video converter which can convert and play in my Zen

I have creative Zen Wav 2 G and I can only put one video which convert with creative video converter becaue of video file convert by supply creative video converter is very big so I try other converter like super and files size is small but if I put to video folder show cannot play and need to convert again. I am able to copy my camera videos to my Zen. Not had any luck with videos sometimes provided with certain?CD's, nor DVD's they probably are copy protected.
Would also like to copy some?videos from the net such as You Tube, but have not tried that yet. Let us know?how you get on and if you?advance further then me. Hope this hel

Creative video converter problem

when i first got my creative zen (just the creative zen) i could easy use yt downloader and put the videos on my player not when i use the creative video converter it would keep saying its unscessful at 36%. i tried a video at .9mb and it work but when i tried a 9.2mb it would not work.

$video files all come from youtube using the youtube downloader. when they are downloaded they are flv files. i change them to wmv files and the converter says not a valid source so i use the youtube downloader converter that converts it into another wmv file (V.7 WMV) and the file has a pic from the video. so i put it through the creative converter it would work or don't a spot between .9 and 9.2

Are you referring to Creative Central? If yes, you can download it from the support site. Click on the support link above and go to MP3 players section. Click on ZEN X-Fi2. Under Downloads->Application section, download and install Creative ZEN X-Fi2 Starter Pack 1.16.02. The pack includes the user guide and the Creative Central app.

Need av fast and easy video converter for zen

Im starting to get really sick and tired of creatives video converter. Anyone who know a better and espacially faster video converter? I have a Creative ZEN 32gb.

The problem with using other video converters is that you have to mess with the settings to try to find a set that work for the Zen. That means you will need to know a bit about how the Zen works.
Some of the more common converters are Super (free on the Net), iri'verter and BADAK (both of which have Zen-specific settings), AutoGK, and Handbrake (I think). Others will come up with other programs, I'm sure. Not sure whether you'll gain a huge time savings improvement though.

Recently picked up a Zen V plus and when I tried to load a divx video file thats about 80 megabytes creatives software requires a conversion at which point the file becomes a 400 megabyte file and the only option I have is to hit the next button. Is there anyway to convert these via 3rd party program?

i have the same problem, had some 0, 20 music videos i converted to divx to run on my cellphone at a 74x208 resolution and they ocupied 0mb +/-, when converting in creative video converter to a lower resolution of the zen v plus, the file gets to 60mb and i cant choose any options except good quality.

Well I know it'll do avi and wmv, but probably not the other. Did you try transferring them individually?
Also does this happen in the process of transferring, or just when you manually open up the Video Converter from the start menu programs.

Video Conversion - Creative Zen

Hi all, hope you doing great.
I own the new creative zen 8GB...great player...so far no problems.
I want to ask the following...
1. At what bitrate you think a movie would look nice on zen if it is ripped by a dvd ripper (not the video converter provided by creative); Is it ok if it is at 52kbs/sec;
2. Constant bitrate encoding or variable bitrate encoding?
3. To go for a large avi file, or smaller size with not that good quality?
4. What ripper do you suggest? I've tried **ILLEGAL SOFTWARE**...Any suggestions?
The first lets you crop or zoom videos and that's especially helpful if a movie is on letterbox
format. From the other hand **** i think has a better picture quality result but no option for zooming.

Using the constant bitrate conversion through creative's converter I can get 2 hours of audio/video down to about 300 Mb. That works out to around 50 to 200 Kbit/s. Looks and sounds fine to me. I wouldn't go too much lower though. I've tried other converters as an alternati've to Creative's and gotten about the same quality at the same bitrate and not too much faster conversion speed.

I have recently been trying to convert some .wmv's into a smaller video file so that I might import them onto my Zen Vision: M and save some space in the process, yet during each attempt at video conversion, the following message appears.
"Creative Video Converter has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
The conversion never even begins, and i'm quite confused as to what to do. I have reinstalled all software including WMP0, any ideas?

I downloaded and installed the upgrades und updates:"Creative PlaysForSure Devices Plugin 5.00.36 for Creative MediaSource 5 Player_Organizer__"and"Creative MediaSource Player_Organizer 5.0.38__".You can find these upgrades by clicking on the link : "Software AutoUpdate[/b]" This site searches especially?for your?system and player the necesarry?updates.Attention: Your player must be connected while the online software autoupdate is searching for your missing software!I had another problem. My player didn't import the albumcovers althoug it did some time before. This problem is gone away, too.Hint: refresh your player firmware version
