Crio CPU usage jumping between 35% to 50% periodically

Hi gents,
I have a Crio 9024, in my RT application, I have 2 processing loops, the first one run each 200 ms and the second one is a dynamic event loop running each 3s. So the CPU usage jumps from 35% to 50% each 3s to process the event is't normal ??? this kind of app can be harmful for crio'CPU or not ?
Thanks

Go to Solution.

Your program is doing something extra every 3 seconds and CPU usage raises briefly every 3 seconds.
Coincidence? I don't think so!

  • My CPU usage jumps to 100 % when I use iTunes 10.6.1 -using Windows XP Service Pack 3

    When I open itunes 10.6.1 my CPU usage jumps to 100%.  it started doing this about 6 months ago when I updated itunes.

    This helped me.  You should try it.  Now I can run itunes or Safari and my CPU usage is around 22%.
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
    (Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
    In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
    If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
    Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
    If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Why animation keeps breaking even though CPU usage oscilate between 60-90%?

    I made a simple animation.
    In standalone player there is no breaking, but in browser every few seconds it stops and jumps, even though through all the time CPU usage never exceeds 100% but oscillate between 60 and 90%.
    I tested it on two machines, both dual core above 4 GHz and result is the same.
    Any ideas why and what to to to fix it?

    Optimization Techniques
    Unfortunately, I know of no completely satisfactory way to organize this information. In what follows, I discuss memory management first with sub-topics listed in alphabetical order. Then I discuss CPU/GPU management with sub-topics listed in alphabetical order.
    That may seem logical but there are, at least, two problems with that organization.
    I do not believe it is the most helpful way to organize this information.
    Memory management affects CPU/GPU usage, so everything in the Memory Management section could also be listed in the CPU/GPU section.
    Anyway, I am going to also list the information two other ways, from easiest to hardest to implement and from greatest to least benefit.
    Both of those later listings are subjective and are dependent on developer experience and capabilities, as well as, the test situation and test environment. I very much doubt there would be a consensus on ordering of these lists.  Nevertheless, I think they still are worthwhile.
    Easiest to Hardest to Implement
    Do not use Filters.
    Always use reverse for-loops and avoid do-loops and avoid while-loops.
    Explicitly stop Timers to ready them for gc (garbage collection).
    Use weak event listeners and remove listeners.
    Strictly type variables whenever possible.
    Explicitly disable mouse interactivity when mouse interactivity not needed.
    Replace dispatchEvents with callback functions whenever possible.
    Stop Sounds to enable Sounds and SoundChannels to be gc'd.
    Use the most basic DisplayObject needed.
    Always use cacheAsBitmap and cacheAsBitmapMatrix with air apps (i.e., mobile devices).
    Reuse Objects whenever possible.
    Event.ENTER_FRAME loops: Use different listeners and different listener functions applied to as few DisplayObjects as possible.
    Pool Objects instead of creating and gc'ing Objects.
    Use partial blitting.
    Use stage blitting.
    Use Stage3D.
    Greatest to Least Benefit
    Use stage blitting (if there is enough system memory).
    Use Stage3D.
    Use partial blitting.

  • CPU Usage Question between Premier and Media Encoder

    Hey guys,
    Here is the question. I just built a new machine with the following specs:
    Intel i7 2.66GHz process overclocked to 3.2GHz
    12GB Memory
    Nvidia 260 Overclocked video card.
    When I export a video from Adobe Premier into Media Encoder, all 8 cores peg out at 100% and thus my CPU temp get hot really quick (78 - 80 degrees Celsius)
    Now if I take the same original video file and just drag it into Media Encoder, my 8 cores only show about 24-40% usage and the temp only gets to around 55-60 degrees Celsius.
    What is causing such a big difference in CPU usage? I'm afraid to use Adobe Premier as it causes the CPUs to max out everytime. I want to edit my videos, but as stuck with just using AME on the original files.

    I suspect its simply because in the first case Pr and AME are both running. In the later, just ame loading the Pr project. In the forst case two projects are running simultaneously, the one in Pr and a temp copy in AME.
    But more troublesome to me is why youve built a system that cant be maxed out. IN editing, we Want the CPUs to peg to process as fast as possible. IMHO; You should re-think the design of your workstation if it overheats so easily.

  • NI DAQmx 8.3 and CPU usage

    I have similar problem as described on page http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=250&message.id=23831
    but have solution and some reflections.
    first of all, about system
    system use 2x PCI-6143 and take data from 16 channels with maximum rate (250 kS/s)
    program
    was created about year ago (with LV 7.1.1, DAQmx 7.4) and on PC with
    PIV (3.2 GHz) processor and 1 Gb of RAM work properly (CPU usage less
    30%).
    Now I've recompile program with LV8.2 and update drivers to DAQmx 8.3. now program can't work properly because CPU usage 100%
    I create test VI for research this problem.
    First version (daq_test1) - simple code - configure daqtask and get data.
    I found:
    if
    sample rate less or equal 90 kS/s (on PCI-6143) CPU usage less 5%, but
    when rate more 95 kS/s CPU usage jump to 60% (for one or more channels
    on one or two devises).
    Then I create simulated devise PCI-6143 in MAX and the same vi (daq_test1) require not more than 5-10% of CPU.
    also
    I have examine devise 16E-4 and find the same problem: if samle rate
    more than "boundary" rate, CPU usage is too much (50-70%).
    Then I add configure parameters (daq_test2) - add manualy DMA "on". There are no effects (CPU usage jump to 60% on "fast" rates)
    Then I  "play" with WaitMode (daq_test3). There are no effects (even if WaitMode=Sleep and SleepTime>1s CPU usage about 60%)
    Finally
    I create vi (daq_test4), where "manually" check
    AvailableSamplesPerChannel and call DAQmx Read only when bufer has more
    samples, that I need.
    So I'd wound solution, but think driver
    MUST check available samples carefully (also, why DAQmx 7.4 can fast
    scan, but  DAQmx 8.3 can't do it at least the same way as previous version).

    daq_test.zip ‏78 KB

    Artem,
    Thank you for contacting National Instruments support.  This is expected behavior. When the wait mode is set to Sleep, DAQmx will only sleep if and only if there is no data available to process. So, for example,  at 200 kS/s, data is filling up the buffer fairly quickly and should always be available to read, which means that the process will not sleep at all. When data is always available, the CPU is going to handle it as quickly as possible and thus the CPU will appear to be running at near 100%.
    Specifying a wait mode of Sleep is really only beneficial when the acquisition is running slowly enough that a lot of time is spent in DAQmx Read waiting for the data to arrive. In the past, the CPu was maxed out even at extremely slow sampling rates.  Sleep mode alleviates this problem by putting the process to sleep when no data is ready for processing; however, if data is available, it will be handled immediately and no sleeping will occur. If data is constantly available for processing, the CPU is expected to deal with it right away and the usage will appear to be high.

  • Cpu usage at 100%

    I am running LabView 7.1 with DSC loaded. My project controls two reaction vessels through compact fieldpoint I/O modules. There are PID loops, data logging, trending and general value displays. The I/O is a mixture of analog and discrete. With trending enabled, my CPU usage jumps to 100%. This happens immediately, not slowly building over time. When this happens, the other portions of the program suffer, i.e. slower updates to PIDs and subsequently out-of-control loops, along with extremely slow updates to the screens. Disabling the trending results in the cpu usage dropping to around 3% and normal PID control and screen updates. The computer is plenty fast with enough RAM. Trending is vital to the technicians ability to manage the reaction. Has anyone seen this issue? I am using the read traces vi to populate the trends.

    Sorry, I cannot test because of missing subVIs, but I would NOT place waits inside these FOR loops! They run for a limited number if iterations and do nothing special except some property nodes. Since your code is heavily sequentialized (sic ) all you do with these waits is prevent the program from doing anything useful.
    What might help would be do defer panel updates during the sequence of FOR loops containing property nodes. (see e.g. http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=164135#M164135)
    You have a lot of duplicate code that could be consolidated. Overall, the code is very hard to navigate because of the deep stacks of sequence structures.

  • How can i reduce CPU usage while playing video?

    Hi,
    I have recently finished and then published a  project to my desktop which is a video jukebox application. The  application plays music videos in a large popup window upon a button  click. The problem i have is that when the video is not playing the CPU  usage on my windows machine runs at about 15% on average, however once  the video is playing in the popup the CPU usage jumps to almost 90-100%.
    I  have seen some of the developements introduced in Flash 10.2 in regard  to Stage Video and was wondering if this could maybe fix my problem. At  present my application is running on AIR 1.5 with Flash Player 9. If I  simply install the latest versions of AIR and Flash Player and try  running my published project again will this be enough to improve the  video performance? Or do I need to change the settings of my project  within Flex Builder so that it uses the latest version Flash?
    Any advise would be great.
    Thanks
    Adam

    StageVideo is still not available for AIR and until then it appears nothing can be done about this problem.

  • Avoiding 100% CPU Usage

    Hi, I don't know too much about concurrency but I thought I had the general idea (obviously not) so I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction here.
    I have a program with a class called Client, which has a Queue of Events (My own class called Event)., it also has two methods hasEvent() and nextEvent() which return a boolean and an Event respectively.
    Now I made a small program to test that Client was working properly:
    public class Test {
         private static Client one;
         private static Client two;
         public static void main(String args[]) {
              one = new Client();
              two = new Client();
              one.connect();
              two.connect();
              (new Thread() {
                   public void run() {
                        getEvents(one);
              }).start();
              (new Thread() {
                   public void run() {
                        getEvents(two);
              }).start();
         public static void getEvents(Client c) {
              while(c.isConnected()) {
                   if(c.hasEvent()) {
                        Event e = c.nextEvent();
                        // Do stuff with the event.
    }I know the way i'm just creating Threads probably isn't the best, but I was just trying to test that Client was working properly.
    The problem is that when I run the program the CPU usage jumps to 100% and stays there.
    I'm assuming it is to do with the while loop.
    How would I go about making this kind of a loop without using so much CPU?
    Thanks

    Ok thanks,
    I've got this for my run method:
    public void run() {
              running = true;
              while (running) {
                   while (!connected) {
                        try {
                             wait();
                        } catch (InterruptedException e) {
                   sendEvent(0);
         }and at the end of my connect() method I have notifyAll().
    But both calls (wait and notifyAll) both throw IllegalMonitorStateExceptions with no error message.
    EDIT: Fixed the notifyAll one by making connect synchronized.
    To fix the wait one should I add a synchronized block around part of it or make run synchronized?
    I don't really need it (or any of my methods really) to be synchronized because i'm not intending to call them from separate threads at the same time.
    But do they have to be synchronized for the blocking to work?
    Oh, and is it acceptable (that is, good coding practice) to make run synchronized?

  • (Solved) systemd-journald extremely high CPU usage

    I started noticing this problem a few days ago, but I thought it was because I was running too much with too little RAM. But when running nothing more than a KDE desktop, my CPU usage bounces between 50% and 100%, making things laggy. It looks like systemd-journald is to blame, as it is using 50% of the CPU. This is an AMD Phenom II dual core, so this definitely shouldn't be happening. I noticed journal logs were more than 2 GB, so I deleted everything within /var/log/journal/. Rebooted, no change, so I disabled journal storage, but that did not solve the problem.
    Nothing in the logs looks like a problem to me:

    I am using a two or three year old SSD, so maybe it has gotten some bad sectors? But that doesn't explain why journald still bricks things when it isn't logging anything. The install is 10 months old, and I switched from init to systemd around October. Is there anything I can do, short of reinstalling?
    Thanks,
    Nicholas

    Thanks for the tip ilkyest, but it didn't make any difference to the systemd-journald problem.
    However, I looked at journalctl again and found it cluttered with CUPS failures:

    Disabling cups solved the CPU usage issue.
    It looks like the root of the problem is Avahi failing to start, but I have no idea why it isn't working.

  • IBM Tn3270 High CPU Usage

    Hi,
    I have installed successfully the IBM Tn3270 portlet, but when I run it in a page, I can only see the black area, and the CPU Usage jumps to 100%. After some time waiting for a response from the portlet, the client machine hangs.
    The versions I am working with are:
    - Oracle Portal 9.x
    - Tn 3270 Revision History:
    9.0.2.4.0 October 22, 2002
    9.0.2.6.0 December 24, 2002
    Thanks in advance,
    R. Murli

    Has this been something that just recently started happening, or have you had this issue for a while?  Have you installed any new programs recently?
    You may want to download Glary Utilities, which is a free software(they will ask you if you want to go Pro, just say no, the free version works very well).  There is a module for startup manager.  You can go in and disable stuff that starts with the computer.  I would advise unchecking adobe, java, quicktime, printers, etc.  Anything that doesn't REALLY need to start with the computer.  The nice thing with Glary is that you can restart the computer, and if you find that you need one of the programs to start with windows, you can go back in and enable it again.
    The Celeron 925 processor in your computer is a decent entry level processor, but if there are too many programs running in the background, it can bog down quick.  I would also recommend downloading and running Malwarebytes Anti-malware, to be sure that there is nothing malicous running in the background.

  • 66.7% Zoom Max's Out CPU Usage

    I've notice this before but never quantified it, if I open a shot at say 4000x3000 pxs in CS4, all is normal, however, when I zoom to 66.7% the CPU usage jumps to 80-90% and remains there. At all other zoom levels CPU usage is as low as expected, this seems to apply to any file format and is totally repeatable.
    System Specs:
    Design Premium CS4
    Vista Home Premium SP1 (32 Bit)
    4gb Ram
    Dual Core E6750
    2 Internal Hard Disks (250/500 Gb / 164/411 free) Scratch disk on Drive D
    Nvidia 8600GT 256Mb
    Memory Usage In Prefs set @ 70% - 1151MB (default)
    Has anybody else experienced this?

    Rob
    I've just checked again and using the navigator to zoom, I'm getting the problem at 33.33%, 66.67 and now 100%. I can also replicate it at various manually entered zoom amounts from 65 -108%.
    I tried again by disabling my AV (Kaspersky Internet Security 7) and this didn't make any difference.
    Maybe something is 'fighting' with PS - While typing this, I just tried turning OpenGL off and restarting - The problem goes away. So I guess this is another one of those performance issues that hopefully will be fixed in the maintenance release. Re-starting OpenGL brings the problem back.

  • Loud Portege M800 - CPU usage always at 50% or higher

    Hi,
    my laptop M800 always runs with fan at full speed, CPU usage runs between 50% to 100% even when no programs are running, is this normal?, seems the computer never seems to go to a resting or idle mode.
    hope someone can help
    cheers

    Hi
    Do you use your Portege with factory settings?
    What you must do is to stop all useless processes that run in the background. This will reduce CPU usage.
    By the way: change cooling method settings.
    You can find it in advanced power plan settings > Toshiba Power saver > cooling method. Change it to battery optimized.
    It will reduce cooling fan activity and notebook will run much quieter.
    Test it please and post some feedback.
