CRM 6.0 vs CRM 5.0 technical and Features & functionality difference.

Hi,
For Internet Sales i.e. B2B and B2C, Evaluating CRM 5.0 and 6.0 but dont know for which version we should select, Had search market place but here it seems to be it does not have much of difference between 5.0 and 6.0..
Please help to provide me solid proff for my company to know why we should select CRM 6.0 then CRM 5.0 along with Major difference between these two from End User point of view.
Thanks so much in advance.
Regards,
Brijesh

Brijesh,
For some reason your last post did not show up on this thread.. However I did get the e-mail.
I'm not really sure about IE 7 support, but I would say you can always go to the PAM
http://service.sap.com/pam to determine the browser level support.
In your case if you have a proven template on CRM 5.0 then you probably don't have as much of a case for CRM 6.0 except perhaps browser support and even then that would be questionable.
For more details you might want to buy the CRM 2007 OKP product that woudl give you a detailed deltas on the differences or look at the release notes form CRM 2007.  The release notes are about 500 pages, but it will tell you what has been changed/added since the last release.
You can also look at the presentations at:
http://service.sap.com/crm
Choose CRM 2007 -> Web Channel.
That should be a good start and cause you to have many more questions.
Take care,
Stephen

  • Upgrade from CRM 5.0 to CRM 2007

    Hi,
We are planning to update from CRM 5.0 to CRM 2007. We are using CRM for Leads, Opportunities and Account & Contact Management with PCUI as front end. We do have some customized iViews for Sales People and Customers. Can any one, please provide me the step-by-step process to do technical and functional upgrade or point me towards the documentation on the same
You will rewarded with the points. Thanks in advance. Please, Its URGENT...
    Cheers,
    Amit

    Amit,
Based on your reply your work looks like the following:
    1.  Basis teams performs tech upgrade of your dev system
    2.  Security team grants temporary expanded access in dev system to access new UI and new UI tools
    3.  Dev/Config team takes standard delivered new UI screens and adjusts screen layouts
    4.  Dev/Config team adjusts any BADI's built in the previous release
The data model of CRM has not changed.  If you stuck with the EEWB and used all the standard methods of enhancing the data model, you don't need to worry about data migration.  However if you did not play by the SAP standards you could have more work.
As far as tracking your project you can use solution manager or build simple project tracking in MS project.
If you did no coding period, and only configuration.  You should be able to complete all the configuration work in less than two weeks to get the screens as needed.  However that is based on having at least one to two weeks of learning the new UI tool.
I would guess a config-only CRM implementation would only need two-three to finish all reconcilation work not including testing and training.
    Take care,

  • Upgrade from CRM 4.0 to CRM 7.0 and disconnect mobile sales

    Hi
With CRM 7.0 we want to utilize the web UI and stop using Mobile Sales. This means we will no longer need the comms station or workbench machines.  Assuption is that with links to EEC6 from CRM 7.0 we no longer need to download sales orders and that CDB is redundant so mobile bridge can be turned off..
Has anyone done this before ? Do we need to be aare of anything ?
    Best Regards
    M

    Hi,
we are also plan to do the same - replace CRM 4 MSA with CRM 7 Web UI. Technical Topics are more planning and checking: How does the User access the Solution (Netbook and UMTS), global availability, closing Mobile Bridge and deleting CDB Tables, check your Z Reports - some Developer used smo Tables which are not updated after the Upgrade. Plus Organizational challenges: With MSA you could do Rolloutwaves - Now for Example Frday Evening shut down all MSA User -> Monday morning All Users Go Live with CRM Web UI. This has to be handled (incl. deinstall/disable of TS Mobile) incl. Training and Support effort
Hope that helps for the Start

  • BW Impact: CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0 Upgrade

    Experts,
We are implementing CRM 7.0 with reference to CRM 5.0. CRM 7.0 is a new implementation not technical upgrade from CRM 5.0 but CRM 5 is takes as basis for this impl. In this new impl, most of the enhanced fields in transactions are migrated to standard fields. Web UI utilization enabled.
I would like to understand how this will impact BW data flow. As per my BW understanding, we have to use the same datasources used in CRM 5.0, enhance them as in old system and extract data to existing infocubes so that customer can use their existing reports. In case of z-fields that were replaced with standard, we have to use standard fields and change mapping in transformations.
As per some threads, understood that CRM 7.0 is diffrent in functionality in CRM 5.0. It is difficult to configure data flow same as CRM 5.0. There is considerable change in source tables and datasources. Based on this assumption, our BW expert suggested to implement new dataflow for CRM 7.0 i.e new infocube's and new reports.
Please share your experience if you upgrade BW dataflow from CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0. Suggest the best approach to follow. Is there any documentation on this any where on sap portals.
    Best Regards,
    Raj.

    Hi,
Upto my knowledge, there will be NO impact on the current data loads.
    After upgrading CRM 5.0 -CRM7.0
Data source of CRM system may get new fields and functionalities get added ,
These changes and updates will be updated in BI system only when the data sources are replicated.
If the data source is new version,it needs to be activated in RSA5 and to repicate, then only the changes will reflectes in BI.

  • Problem with Billing Engine after upgrade from CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0

    Hello together,
The system  of our customer has been upgraded from CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0. After that some problems occurred regarded the billing.
In the Billing Due List a dump occurs when clicking on an item and then on conditions
Dump message: No function module can be found named "/1BEA/CRMB_DL_PAR_O_DERIVE" however.
(Other classes are  new generated after the upgrade)
During the Analysis we looked to the billing engine navigator:
In the Billing Engine Navigator (Transaction: BEFN_F1) the Generation Log shows the following:
We have re-generated the Object PAR in CRMB->DL->Feature->PAR. But this shows the above displayed error message. How can we add value to the Placeholder?
Another question is which impacts does it have if we regenerate the complete billing engine for CRMB with transaction BEA_CONFIG_F1 (Configure Application)?
    BR, Anne

    Hi Nawanit,
we checked the key figure settings and categories. Everything is maintained correctly.
Since we work with MRP areas we also checked the "Global Parameters and Default Values for MRP Areas" in APO Customizing: The "Default values for Stock Transfer Documents" is set to "1" = Stock Transport Requisitions for MRP Areas.
BUT: When I try ot change this indicator I get the following message no. /SAPAPO/MRPA000:
"Process. w. stock transp. requisitions is not supported in standard sys. The process with stock transport requisitions will be supported as of SAP R/3 Enterprise Core Release 4.70 with SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension Set 2.0. ".
As far as we work with ECC 6.0, EHP4 this message makes no sense.
    Does anyone have another idea?
    Thanks

  • Worklist and Inbox functionality in CRM 5.0

    Hello,
We would like to know the difference between the Worklist and Inbox functionality in SAP CRM.
Is there any change in functionalities of the two, in 4.0 and 5.0. What the different settings for these two functionalities in any system. How do we identify whether a system has implemented worklist or Inbox.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Faiz

    Hi Faiz,
The best way to learn about the new functionalities is to refer to the release notes of CRM 5.0 which explaines all the new features of CRM 5.0

    Dear Vikas,
Kindly check C13_BB_Config guide as service marketplace.
It says in section 3.1.5.2.3 on page 57, the below mentioned paragraph.
    3. On screen Create Problem maintain the following data:
Be sure that the descriptions of the following problem(s) and solution(s) are defined in all languages that you want to use (e.g., in the E-Commerce Internet Customer Self-Service).
4.Choose Enter. The default parameters are filled; please also see the NOTE following this description.
5.Enter the problem description listed in the box below. The first line should not exceed 40 characters, for this is like a short description of the problem that will be displayed in the first line of the hitlist in the search.
    hope this helps

  • Data Migration from CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0

    Hi Friends,
We are into a re-implementation on CRM 7.0. The old system was on CRM 5.0.
Since this is not an upgrade, the data will not copied over from the old system into the new system.
So, now I would like to know how to migrate data (master/transaction) from CRM 5.0 into 7.0.
I have read that we can make use of BAPI/LSMW/IDOC/XIF adapters to push info into CRM.
But, the customer wants all the historical data to be in the new system.
I think master data can be handled....  but how to migrate the transaction data?.... i mean the number ranges/document flow.. and other relationships.. how can we maintain the same links into the new system?
If it was a migration from legacy system into the SAP CRM, we could have gone ahead with new number ranges etc... but this migration is from SAP to SAP.
Also, we will have ECC6.0 connected to CRM 7.0. ANy additional things to be taken care of when the connection is live in DEV/QA/PROd instances?
    Any pointers to this ?

    Hi Gary,
As per my understanding, your data migration involves quite complex scenarios covering the CRM and ERP box. As the customer needs the old data to be present in the new implementation, the old data needs to be migrated from the CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0. For the migration to happen, you need to setup the customization (like the number ranges,Condition Data Tables, etc ). Then only you can proceed with the data migration. Also, you need a proper backup plan as this involves proper backup of the data.
Once the setup is complete, you need to configure the ECC6.0 with the CRM7.0 system. Here also, you need to do a lot of settings and performing the Initial loading of the Adapter Objects. But before you proceed with the entire operation, the entire system landscape must be properly defined with appropriate settings.
My recomendation is to take help of SAP Consultants and data migration experts as they are the best persons to guide you on this. Also it would be great if you can go through the SAP Best Practices documents which are best repository documents to guide you on this.
Have a look on this link for an overview of the CRM Data Migration

    Hope this helps.

  • Having multiple J2EE stacks connected to one CRM ABAP instance for CRM IPC

    Hello Experts,
The situation we were looking at is this.
We have 3 distinct teams doing Java development for CRM IPC configurators
    Team A - IPC/Ecommerce
    Team B - UI
    Team C - Order Wrapper
They each wanted to do development in their own landscape (Java Stack)
Additionally, two more landscapes are needed:
a landscape for end 2 end testing of the configuration scenarios
    another for a Performance Assessment
To get 5 full dual stack CRM instances was deemed unlikely.
Trying to explore if multiple J2EE's, can be connected to one CRM ABAP system.
It seems we can not, as the CRM ABAP to JEE comminucation is via RFC and there is excatly one RFC_Destination defined per CRM (across all clients). Is this correct?
    Thanks
    Rocky

May be you can wordsmith your requirement to make it clear what each team is doing. Also, please mention what version of CRM / IPC you are talking about.
From what you have said, I guess IPC/E-Commerce is E-Commerce enhancement. If NWDI is in the picture, you have one track for this enhancement.
The UI - I assume is IPC UI. This is also a Java based web application that shares the same Java stack with the E-Commerce application.
What is Order Wrapper? - If it a custom web application you guys are into, I still don't see why they can't use the same Java "stack".
In the development lifecycle, it is sufficient to have only one IPC environment for each phase. The development team needs only one, unless they have a valid reason to have their own Java stack. I bet they need only one.
If the developers are asking about "Sandbox", they can have their own NetWeaver Developer Workplace in their laptop / desktop.

  • Is therre drag and relate functionality in CRM  4.0 busi pack for sap 60.2

Is there drag and relate functionality in CRM  4.0 busi pack for sap 60.2 .
    Rajendra redekar

    Hi Sriram,
Mobile component changed to .Net  in 5.0 so the first upgrade of support packages should not be a problem.  Your only concern will be the rollout of the support package upgrade to the users in the field.
I don't know much about the upgrade from 4.0 to 7.0 and the complications around the custom code migration from vb to .net.  I imagine this is something you may need to talk to SAP about.
Depending on the amount of work involved it may be easy to upgrade the CRM system and do a re-implementation of the mobile component.
    Good luck.
    Cheers

  • BP , Activitites - Migration from CRM 4.0 to CRM 2007

    Hi Experts,
We are planning to mirgrate the following Data from CRM 4.0 to CRM 6.0
    1)  Business Partner with relationship and Attachment
    2)  Activities
What could be the best approach to migrate?
How can we record the BP data with relation from the legacy system ?
The detailed answers will be appreciated ...
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards,

    1) Extract all the partner data using either z-programs or XIF outbound adapter.  As you are loading them in you will need to maintain/map the "legacy partner number".
    2) Extract all the activities using a z-program/XIF outbound adapter.  Convert in the new activities using the mapping from step #1.
In either case you will have quite of bit of work to do.  This should keep you busy for a couple months.

  • Reasons to upgrade from CRM 4.0 to CRM 7.0 ?

    Hi Experts,
We have CRM 4.0 working on our client system. Why should they upgrade from CRM 4.0 to CRM 7.0 ?
A few reasons that I can think of are :
    1)  SAP will not support CRM 4.0 -
But they can get maintenance support from SAP although at a higher cost
    2) CRM WebClient - fast and easy to configure and maintain -
but this is not so convincing a reason that they should upgrade   and then almost implement whole of CRM again. They already have Portal.
    3) Some new functionality added by SAP in the newer versions-----That is good but their business is working good with the existing functionality of CRM 4.0
Please provide some compelling reasons so that we can ask our client to go for upgrade.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Vikas

    Hi Vikas,
Although your customer happy with the functions in CRM 4.0, and they are willing to pay extra money for extended maintenance fee. SAP will end the support of CRM 4.0 sooner for later.
    Other reasons I could mention:
    1. if there is Java stack then the support of jave stack and the jdk version 1.3.1 is ended.
    2. CRM architecture was changed since CRM 6.0 and and 7.0 provided New tools and assistants simplify, standardize, and reduce development effort significantly, i.e. less code development, more flexible customizing. From this prospective, 7.0 is the investment safe release for long-term
    3. Enhancement of existing functions, details can be found in CRM 7.0 Release notes
    4. If you use compoenent like TREX, definately you will be benefit from newer version, stable, faster etc.
There should be a lot, and you can order upgrade value proposition service from SAP for formal evaluation.
    Cheers,
    Denny
