Cron expression

we have a bpel proces which reads a file using file adapter and insert records into DB.
my requirement is to schedule the process to run in every 20 mints. I am able to schedule the process using DBMS_SCHEDULER.
Now I wanted to schedule the same process using CRON expression.
1) Can some one tell me what would be the CRON expression to schedule a process in every 20 minutes.
2) Is it mandatory to give the endpointScheduleOff property in bpel.xml file ? (i.e. <property name="endpointScheduleOff">)
2) If file adapter polling frequency is 5 minutes and we have scheduled the bpel process to run in every 20 minutes.. what'll happen in this scenario..

1) 0 0/20 * * * ? to run the process every 20 mins. You can learn the Cron here @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CRON_expression
2) on and off properties used when you want to control the polling to be happened between that specific time period. I'm not sure about that in your reqt. You may like to check http://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=872268

Query regarding cron expression in BPEL

Hi,
I am using the quartz scheduler in BPEL and using the cron expression in bpel.xml
but the problem I am facing is it is running for only one day it is not running for the next day
the expression I am writting in bpel.xml is

If you use quartz as a servlet, you'll have to add the entry to you're web.xml, in addition to other servlets you create :

Watched folders, frequency in endpoint vs cron expression in admin settings

I am following the sample ApplyXSLT with Watched Folders and am not sure what I'm doing wrong.. I think, perhaps, that the process is not even getting fired off.
Assuming I've followed all I can to a T, what steps can I do to trace what happens (or doesn't happen) when I copy the .xml file over to the watched folder (which should invoke the process)?

Just an update (question still persists). Today, a day later, I see that my result folder (and others) have spawned a new subdirectory for the new date, so _something_ is happening somewhere..

[watched_folder]/result/2007/12/19
Oh, and I should mention this is all in Linux.

I need to create a cron schedule that repeats every 2 weeks on Mondays. Cronmaker.com doesn't have the cron expression for this. Please advice.
Using calendarSchedule I can do this,

How to specify timezone in quartz scheduler

Hi,
I want to initiate a job at a particular time - 6 AM EST every Monday. The cron expression can help me do "6 AM every Monday" part, but not the EST part. How do I specify a timezone. I could not find any examples pertaining to doing this in quartz used in a web application. I found some links that talked about doing this in spring framework - http://forum.springsource.org/archive/index.php/t-16381.html

Hello guys,
I have been setting a production system with bitronix transaction manager, SQL server 2008, XA transactions and jetty 6. In the beginning this software was configured to run with MySQL. But one of my customer decided to move everything to MSSQL server 2008.
In that moment I was trying to get this up and running for some weeks (The configuration was completely different) and finally I got it.
The configuration with MSSQL server was running perfectly during 1 month but then from one day to other the error message I will show now appeared and I do not how to solve it. I almost read all the hints from google about this exception but nothing helped
me out.
I hope you guys can help me to find a way to solve it.
- I tried different version of the jdbc driver 3.0 and 4.0.
- I tried to export exactly the database to my localserver and it's running perfectly with the same configuration.
The problem is that I cannot reproduce the error in other place that is not the customer and at the same time I have no access to their internal database server. They installed all the XA transaction stuff (dll in binn, enable XA, and grant the permissions
for SQLXAUser), I am quite sure because it was running for one month without any problem.
I asked to the customer if anything happenend on their server (microsoft updates, machines reboot, ...) but nothing of these happened.
Also I tried this link out but did not help me.

Hello guys,
I have been setting a production system with bitronix transaction manager, SQL server 2008, XA transactions and jetty 6. In the beginning this software was configured to run with MySQL. But one of my customer decided to move everything to MSSQL server 2008.
In that moment I was trying to get this up and running for some weeks (The configuration was completely different) and finally I got it.
The configuration with MSSQL server was running perfectly during 1 month but then from one day to other the error message I will show now appeared and I do not how to solve it. I almost read all the hints from google about this exception but nothing helped
me out.
I hope you guys can help me to find a way to solve it.
- I tried different version of the jdbc driver 3.0 and 4.0.
- I tried to export exactly the database to my localserver and it's running perfectly with the same configuration.
The problem is that I cannot reproduce the error in other place that is not the customer and at the same time I have no access to their internal database server. They installed all the XA transaction stuff (dll in binn, enable XA, and grant the permissions
for SQLXAUser), I am quite sure because it was running for one month without any problem.
I asked to the customer if anything happenend on their server (microsoft updates, machines reboot, ...) but nothing of these happened.
Also I tried this link out but did not help me.

Deployment Queries related to Quartz Scheduler for SOA 11g???

Dear All,
We are using Quartz Scheduler for SOA 11g and have queries on its testing:
1. Can we change the cron expression(say, previously cron expression was with the interval of 15 minutes every hour and we are changing it to 5 minutes every hour) in the scheduler table after we deployed the scheduler application? Should this require redeployment of Scheduler Application or the scheduler java class needs to be be run again to trigger the newly updated cron expression. Or, Will commiting the scheduler details table alone update the application to schedule for every 5 minutes in an hour?
2. Also, if we are trying to schedule a new application(say, previously only 2 of our applications are scheduled and trying to add newly built application in the Scheduler table), will commiting the table alone will schedule the new application or require redeployment of Scheduler Application or the scheduler java class needs to be be run again?
Please share your thoughts!

Import Export Functionality on OIA

I have created some SOD rules and Policies on the OIA via Identity Audit >> Rules and Identity Audit >> Policies. I couldnt find much about the Import/Export functionality on the same. Was going through the scheduling-context.xml and came across :

If you see the cron expression in the jobs.xml, an expression to create a trigger that simply fires every 5 minutes ("0 0/5 * * * ?") leave it at it is. Expression examples are at the bottom of the jobs.xml if you want more expressions. When you do the changes to the scheduling-context.xml, make sure you bounce the web server.

WatchedFolderEndpoint, Stage folder filling up

I have a service in Livecycle ES that processes PDF files, via a WatchedFolderEndpoint. When the process is complete the original files are no longer needed. I have the watched folder endpoint configured to only preserve on failure, and that is working correctly. The issue is that the files that are in the stage folder never get deleted, even after they have been processed. I know that the files have been processed because I can see them in the database, which is the last step of the service. The folder is on a remote (to the livecycle server) path, and I don't think its a time issue because there are folders in there from the previous day.
My question is this, Why are the PDFs staying in the stage folder after being processed? The watched folder endpoint is used to pickup documents that have been placed there by scanners and we get around potentially 800~1000 a day, so this issue could eat up a lot large amount of disk space very quickly. Right now its manually being deleted periodically.
Here are the settings for the watched folder endpoint:

We found this same issue where the stage folder filled up to about 29,000+ folders and files and the CPU utilisation went to 100% and never dropped. The server system process was constantly trying to parse the stage directory and as it filled up was thrashing the CPU & disk.
You HAVE to set the result directory parameter in the WatchedFolder Startpoint Endpoint configuration even if you arent using it and set it to purge after 1 day (or anything other than -1 which is never delete). This way the stage folder will self-delete.

WatchedFolder between 18PM and 8AM

Hi everyone,
I need to set a watched folder which will begin to scan the folder at 18PM and will stop at 8AM, even if there are still files to process.
I was hoping I could use the Repeat Count variable, (every 2 seconds for 1800 * 14 counts = 14 hours) but unfortunately the max value of Repeat Count is 100.
I did a little search, and it seems that the CRON expression doesn't allow this kind of demand.
Is there a way to do that ?
Can we ask a watched folder to start and stop working at a certain time ?

I finally found how to do that by simply reading the CronTrigger doc !

My final CRON Expression is :
0/2 * 18-23,0-7 * * ?
Which means :
0/2 : every two seconds
* : every minutes
18-23,0-7 : from 6PM (18h) to 11PM (23h) and from 0AM to 8AM
* * ? : every day / every month / ...

OIA 11g - Unable to import users to applications

Hi Everyone,
We are unable to assign users to applications in OIA. We have imported users successfully as well as accounts, but we are unsure how we can assign (import) specific users to applications. The OIA documentation describes importing of users, accounts, roles, policies, but not how to import users to applications?

Applications are a new thing and you cannot do this within the GUI, you have to do this the 'old-style' way by hard-coding this within the .xml files
Part 2
You will need to alter the cron expression within the scheduling.context.xml file located in the <OIA_HOME>/WEB_INF folder.
Find the bean called ="userApplicationMaintenanceTrigger" (probably 2/3rds down in the file) then add a valid cron expression (If you don't know cron-expressions then google it)
Though the example below will run the user/application relationship trigger every 5mins

Transaction executing Twice

Hi,
I have BLS Transaction which is scheduled for every Hour to run. It runs every hour but i see the transaction runs twice for that Hour.
But When I execute the BLS manually it executes only once properly without any duplication.
It inserts duplicates or runs twice when scheduled using Schedule Editor.
This is happening in the Production System only.
The same Transaction runs fine in Development System.

A concrete Trigger that is used to fire a JobDetail at given moments in time, defined with Unix 'cron-like' definitions.
For those unfamiliar with "cron", this means being able to create a firing schedule such as: "At 8:00am every Monday through Friday" or "At 1:30am every last Friday of the month".
A "Cron-Expression" is a string comprised of 6 or 7 fields separated by white space. The 6 mandatory and 1 optional fields are as follows:

The '*' character is used to specify all values. For example, "*" in the minute field means "every minute".
The '?' character is allowed for the day-of-month and day-of-week fields. It is used to specify 'no specific value'. This is useful when you need to specify something in one of the two fileds, but not the other. See the examples below for clarification.
The '-' character is used to specify ranges For example "10-12" in the hour field means "the hours 10, 11 and 12".
The ',' character is used to specify additional values. For example "MON,WED,FRI" in the day-of-week field means "the days Monday, Wednesday, and Friday".
The '/' character is used to specify increments. For example "0/15" in the seconds field means "the seconds 0, 15, 30, and 45". And "5/15" in the seconds field means "the seconds 5, 20, 35, and 50". You can also specify '/' after the '*' character - in this case '*' is equivalent to having '0' before the '/'.
The 'L' character is allowed for the day-of-month and day-of-week fields. This character is short-hand for "last", but it has different meaning in each of the two fields. For example, the value "L" in the day-of-month field means "the last day of the month" - day 31 for January, day 28 for February on non-leap years. If used in the day-of-week field by itself, it simply means "7" or "SAT". But if used in the day-of-week field after another value, it means "the last xxx day of the month" - for example "6L" means "the last friday of the month". When using the 'L' option, it is important not to specify lists, or ranges of values, as you'll get confusing results.
The 'W' character is allowed for the day-of-month field. This character is used to specify the weekday (Monday-Friday) nearest the given day. As an example, if you were to specify "15W" as the value for the day-of-month field, the meaning is: "the nearest weekday to the 15th of the month". So if the 15th is a Saturday, the trigger will fire on Friday the 14th. If the 15th is a Sunday, the trigger will fire on Monday the 16th. If the 15th is a Tuesday, then it will fire on Tuesday the 15th. However if you specify "1W" as the value for day-of-month, and the 1st is a Saturday, the trigger will fire on Monday the 3rd, as it will not 'jump' over the boundary of a month's days. The 'W' character can only be specified when the day-of-month is a single day, not a range or list of days.
The 'L' and 'W' characters can also be combined for the day-of-month expression to yield 'LW', which translates to "last weekday of the month".
The '#' character is allowed for the day-of-week field. This character is used to specify "the nth" XXX day of the month. For example, the value of "6#3" in the day-of-week field means the third Friday of the month (day 6 = Friday and "#3" = the 3rd one in the month). Other examples: "2#1" = the first Monday of the month and "4#5" = the fifth Wednesday of the month. Note that if you specify "#5" and there is not 5 of the given day-of-week in the month, then no firing will occur that month.
The 'C' character is allowed for the day-of-month and day-of-week fields. This character is short-hand for "calendar". This means values are calculated against the associated calendar, if any. If no calendar is associated, then it is equivalent to having an all-inclusive calendar. A value of "5C" in the day-of-month field means "the first day included by the calendar on or after the 5th". A value of "1C" in the day-of-week field means "the first day included by the calendar on or after sunday".
The legal characters and the names of months and days of the week are not case sensitive.
Here are some full examples:

"0 0-5 14 * * ?" Fire every minute starting at 2pm and ending at 2:05pm, every day
"0 10,44 14 ? 3 WED" Fire at 2:10pm and at 2:44pm every Wednesday in the month of March.
"0 15 10 ? * MON-FRI" Fire at 10:15am every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
"0 15 10 15 * ?" Fire at 10:15am on the 15th day of every month
"0 15 10 L * ?" Fire at 10:15am on the last day of every month

Pay attention to the effects of '?' and '*' in the day-of-week and day-of-month fields!
NOTES:
Support for the features described for the 'C' character is not complete.
Support for specifying both a day-of-week and a day-of-month value is not complete (you'll need to use the '?' character in on of these fields).
Be careful when setting fire times between mid-night and 1:00 AM - "daylight savings" can cause a skip or a repeat depending on whether the time moves back or jumps forward.
