Crontab Entry Problem..Not Initiating Backup

hi!
I have a file which is intiating my db backup. If i run this file through ./radbbackup.sh then its working fine but amazingly if i am making his entry into crontan then its not initiating rman backup.

hi!
thanks for your responses.
Actually crontab is running the script correctly but its not intiating the RMAN backup. After running through crontab its just sending me this information.

if run manually through ./file_name.sh then its sending me this information:

  • Time Machine wants 16 days to do an initial backup.  ps shows PRI = 33 with NI = 0.   But I can not get sudo renice to set PRI less than 15.  And renice sets NI directly with strange behavior for PRI. Any suggestions?

    Time Machine said it would take 16 days to do an initial backup, and indeed, after many days it is less than a quarter done.   (The problem started when I put in a new bank disk for Time Machine to write to for its backup file.)
    Activity Monitor shows that the process name is   backups   with Process ID   6060.
    Then putting this PID in Terminal UNIX command ps gave:
    EdsMacPro-1:~ ed$ ps -l -p 6060
      UID   PID  PPID        F CPU PRI NI       SZ    RSS ...
        0  6060     1  1004004   0  33  0  2556488  29040 ...
    Wow!  A priority of 33!
    Don't know how that happened, but the way to fix that (I thought) is with renice.
    But renice doesn't work.
    After a lot of playing with renice and ps, it looks as though renice can not make the priority better than (no less than) 15.
    And the parameter you put in, that according to the man page that is supposed to be priority, turns out to be "nice index", with priority changed by sometimes subtracting or sometimes adding either this number or twice this number - down to a limit of priority no less than 15.

    This is with OSX 10.7.5 and Terminal 2.2.3 on an early 2009 Mac Pro with lots of memory.
    What am I dong wrong, and any suggestions for how to fix my Time Machine process?

    The backup file size is 1.67 TB.*
    That's across the internal bus of a 2009 quad-core Mac Pro - which is pretty fast.
    Copying an hour's worth of MPEG-2 HD takes about a minute.
    I do a fresh backup from scratch about once a year, and the last time it finished over night.
    This time the first Time Machine backup is only about 1/5 complete after many days, and Activity Monitor shows essentially no use of disk drives or of CPU.  And in the first note I pointed out what is gleaned by using Terminal to execute the UNIX ps command. The priority of the running Time Machine process looks incorrect to me.
    I could be wrong, but I think the problem is process priority, not file size.
    I am unable to set priority to 0 or a negative number.  Can someone straighten me out on how to do that?
    [*The machine has four 1.5 TB disk drives in it plus lots of memory.  Two of the physical drives are configured as one 3 TB backup drive (RAID concatanated).]

  • Time Machine will not complete initial backup

    I reformatted my external LaCie USB 2.0 drive 2X now (even zeroing once and set partition map to GUID) and TM gets hung on the initial backup. I'm on my third try now, and it gets hung each time at exactly 62.3G. mdworker keeps running 98% CPU power also. This seems strange, because I have the backup drive selected in Spotlight's Privacy window not to index the drive, but it seems it keeps trying. Anyone have a clue to what's going on? I'm ready to go back to SuperDuper for backups.

    Having EXACTLY the same problem with one macbook.. nothing special in any way about this one at all.. the 10.5 was a clean install and all updates are installed (10.5.2), no special characters, no disk errors, no permission errors, no volume errors, no fsck errors.. removed and rebuilt indexes, tried several different FW drives, reformatted FW drives, tried a USB drive, tried everything I could think of..
    no deal.
    I get an error on copying a single file right before the error 11.. but these are different random files and those specific files appear OK otherwise. (ive tried this about 30 times now)
    I also (sometimes) get an kernel I/O error on the disk1s2 (the fw drive) but there is nothing wrong with it.. and since i've tried three different ones.. and I am able to run a bu from another machine to these drives.
    come on apple engineers... give us an answer !

  • Time Machine not backing up beyond initial backup on iMac G5

    Hi - hoping someone can help...
    I Have just upgraded to 10.5 and want to use my 500GB Mybook WD drive with Time Machine. When I first step it up it needed to erase the disc to get it into a Mac Journaled format, and then took about 10 hours to do its initial back-up of 230GB. After that it seemed to hang 'preparing' for another backup of over 20GBs... in system preferences had last backup and oldest backup as blank.
    I decided to start again, used disc utility to format the drive and time machine again did a long initial backup, and I left the computer for a while and now it wants to do a second backup of 223GB... and in System Preferences it still shows no oldest / last backup, and when I use Time Machine I can't go anywhere else but 'now'.... any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers Sam

    I am kind of having a similar problem. I am able to back up my computer, but it only backs up 1kb every single time. And when i go to search documents I am not able to find them, I too only have the initial backup, but I am able to go back in time to many days back to look at the same thing over and over again. And every time I use it, while it looks sweet, it proves to be useless. I asked about this somewhere else and someone responded with the comment that time machine was pretty much worthless and has lots of bugs. A guy at the apple store had this same problem on a mac pro. I know I didn't really answer your question, but I guess it give syou a little idea of the problems going on.

  • After upgrading to iOS 5, I lost my contacts, calendar entries, and Notes on my iPhone 3GS (3 years old). How do I retrieve them? My last backup/sync to iTunes acct was Sept 18 but yesterday's backup bombed due to lack of space on my C: drive.

    Yikes! After upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, I lost my Contacts, calendar entries, and Notes (100+) on my iPhone (3 years old). How do I retrieve them? My last backup/sync to iTunes acct was Sept 18 but yesterday's backup bombed due to lack of space on my C: drive.

    This happened to me too but it was really all there.  Go to your calendar, click on calendar in the upper left hand corner, click on show all calendars, click done in the right upper corner.  Everything should show up!!!
    I was super thrilled.  Hope this works for you!!

  • Since updating to 10.4 getting error message on startup 'AppleSyncNotifier.exe – Entry Point Not Found, The procedure entry point xmlTextReaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll.'. How do I fix this annoying problem?

    Since updating to 10.4 I've been getting this error message on computer startup
    'AppleSyncNotifier.exe – Entry Point Not Found
    The procedure entry point xmlTextReaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll.'.
    Please help me fix this annoying problem?
    belle

    This is the fix I got from discussions and it worked for me.  It is copied below.  I just did the manual fix which I have underlined. Good luck! Regards, Belle.
    This can occur because libmxl2.dll is not in your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support folder.
    There have been some issues with this and other dlls not being in the right place (or not being everywhere they should be) since the 10.3.1.55 iTunes update.
    However, I note that the 10.4 iTunes update is now out - surprisingly quickly - so try installing that, rebooting, and see if your issue is solved.
    If it isn't, though, here's the manual fix:-
    With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
    Copy the libmxl2.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
    Reboot and see if all is well.
    I actually had the issue with SQLite3.dll, and the above fix worked for me (I found it in an April 2010 posting!).
    I passed on the fix as above for the similar issue with libmxl2.dll to someone who had exactly your problem, and he reported that it fixed it for him.

    In case that your OS is Windows 7 (64 bit)
    1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    2. Copy file "SQLite3.dll"
    3. Open new windows explorer, to to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    4. Paste file "SQLite3.dll" to the location.
    5. Reboot your computer, it should not display that message, it should be clear.

  • 64-bit compilation problem on Solaris/Intel: 7th argument not initialized

    I have a problem when compiling a program on a 64-bit Solaris Intel server. The problem is that when calling a function, if the 7th or next arguments are long arguments and I pass uncasted small integers values to it, the first 32-bit of my values are uninitialized.
    I have isolated the problem in the following source code.
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <strings.h>
    void fnc1(a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h)
    long a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h;
    printf("%ld,%ld,%ld,%ld,%ld,%ld,%ld,%ld\n", a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h);
    void main()
    fnc1(0x10101010deadbeef,0x20202020deadbeef,
         0x30303030deadbeef,0x40404040deadbeef,
         0x50505050deadbeef,0x60606060deadbeef,
         0x70707070deadbeef,0x80808080deadbeef);
    fnc1(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8);
    }I compile it using the following command:
    cc src1.c -g $* -m64 -o prog1.exeWhen I run the resulting .exe, I get the following result:
    1157442768875667183,2314885534015405807,3472328299155144431,4629771064294883055,5787213829434621679,6944656594574360303,8102099359714098927,-9187201948855714065
    1,2,3,4,5,6,8102099355978170375,-9187201952591642616The problem is that the first 32 bits of my 7th and 8th arguments are not initialized when the function is called.
    I know that in the following cases, I do not have the problem:
    - if I cast the arguments;
    - on other platforms (AIX, SunOs/Sparc, HPUX) or if I compile in 32-bit;
    - if I use optimization (-xO1 to -xO5) ;
    - if I prototype my function at the beginning of my source (void fnc1(long a,long b,long c,long d,long e,long f,long g,long h););
    I have over 1,000,000 lines of existing code to support. I am afraid using optimization would have other impacts and for now, I cast the arguments as problems are reported. Would there be a better way to handle this? By using a compiler switch?
    Thanks in advance.

    But if you are passing to an ellipsis, you either cast actual arguments to the type the function expects, or the function extracts the default promoted type. Such code always works ...Yes, and developers should attempt to accomplish just that. Alas this is very difficult to ensure, particularly given the lack of a run-time type checking mechanism.In theory, proper use of the ellipsis function would be documented, and programmers would read and follow the documentation. In practice, some programmers don't read the instructions, or forget them, or someone ill-advisedly changes the way the function works so that existing calls stop working. Variable-argument functions are a fragile mechanism. (I program almost exclusively in C++, which has combinations of features such that variable-argument functions are rarely, if ever, needed.)
    Can one even assume that the value of the NULL macro is correct? Never, because the C standard allows a variety of definitions for NULL, and implementations vary. Passing NULL to an ellipsis is a recipe for failure. Don't do it.

    Suppose you have function FI with an ellipsis that expects to get int arguments, and another FL that expects to get long arguments. When you port the code to a 64-bit environment, function FL fails. If you use the -signext option, function FI will fail.Ah, but for us FL never fails, since the compilers always widen the arguments. I fail to see the circumstance in which widening would cause FI to fail, could you please give a more specific example?
    void FI(int count, ...)
        va_list va;
        va_start(va, count);
        int t;
        while( --count >= 0) {
           t = va_arg(va, int);
           do_something(t);
    }Function FI expects to extract 32-bit int arguments. If compiled with -signext, the calling function will pass 64-bit arguments. Perhaps the -signext option also causes the 32-bit extraction to be changed to a 64-bit extraction. I have no personal experience with the option, and I'm not in a position where I can experiment right now.

  • ESB system problems - cachemap not initialized!!!

    Hi,
    I tried to change the meta-data repository of the ESB from the Oracle Lite to the OracleXE. I changed the ESBPool connection pool in JDBC resources of the "home" instance application server, as well as the ESBDataSource to make it work with XE.
    Before that, I executed the sql scripts located in the %SOA_INSTALL%\install\soa_schemas\irca\sql\esb, creating the user and the schema needed. But now, when I go on the ESB Control panel, I have no system showing up. I tried to create a DefaultSystem but a message "cachemap not initialized!!!" appeard. I undeployed all my BPEL processes, re-executed the sql scripts, but still I cannot create a new system on the ESB.
    When I check in the XE DB, in the wf_systems table, there is a row with a DefaultSystem but nothing appears on the ESB Control panel.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    When you migrate from olite to Oracle, you should first export your esb params table to a properties file and import it after you have rebuilt the schemas. Just in case you did not do this, you can use these insert statements to recreate the default OC4J JMS esb_parameter table entries. change host and port as required.
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_MONITOR_TOPIC_JNDI','OracleASjms/ESBMonitorTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_XATCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_RETRY_JNDI','OracleASjms/ESBErrorRetryTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values('DT_OC4J_HTTP_PORT','8888');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_CONTROL_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_MONITOR_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyTCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_TOPIC_JNDI','OracleASjms/ESBErrorTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyTCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_CONTROL_TOPIC_JNDI','OracleASjms/ESBControlTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_DEFERRED_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyTCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('DT_OC4J_HOST','localhost');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_DEFERRED_XATCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_RETRY_TCF_JNDI','OracleASjms/MyXATCF');

  • Problem opening PSCS5 32 bit - Photoshop.exe Entry Point Not Found

    I am having a problem opening 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5 in Windows 7.  The 64 bit version opens fine, but when I try and open the 32 bit version, the following window opens: “Photoshop.exe – Entry Point Not Found”  X The procedure entry point_CFCreateApplicationRepositoryPath could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreFoundation.dll.  My only option in this window is an OK button.  If I click this button several times, the program eventually opens. Below is screen shot of the error window.
    Thanks,

    Thanks Zeno and others.  Uninstalling Quicktime and then reinstalling it was the fix.

  • Time machine will not perform initial backup

    Hey,
    time machine is not performing my initial backup, this is the error it gives
    http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/6425/screenshot20100419at522.png
    The error shows up anywhere from the first few megs to the first few gigs during the backup (and the backup is incredablly slow, I don't know why...(not like the apple videos where it goes 0.5gigs/s))
    It is the second partition on a 1TB USB drive.
    I tried several formats (pretty much everything in disk utilities).
    How do I fix this?
    Thanks

    Shoot, my partition scheme is MBR and not GUID or Apple....
    Is there anyway to fix this without wiping the entire harddrive (I don't have enough storage in everything that I have to store stuff to backup this entire harddrive (at least 10 years worth of stuff))
    It's risky. iPartition, and perhaps some other 3rd-party apps, claims to be able to change formats and/or the partition map without erasing, but they very prominently recommend backing the drive up first. And it costs about half what a new HD will.
    If the things in the other partition aren't backed-up some other way, your best bet might be to get a larger internal HD, so you can keep all your originals on it, and reformat the external and let TM start over.
    Or, get a second drive, and let it back up both your internal HD and the current external.

  • TC initial Backup: 46GB System: 53GB Problem?

    I did not exclude anything. But still there is gap between the size of my system and the initial backup.sparesbundle. 53Gb:46Gb.
    How can this be?

    That seems somewhat odd to me. Based on my stats, my initial backup was just a little over 88 GB, and right now, having added some files there is a 88.28 GB on my Mini's physical HD.

  • When I start my computer I get a "AppleSyncNotifier.exe Entry Point Not Found message.  I also get an error message when trying to sync with iTunes that a backup session cannot be started.  How do I fix this?

    In the last few days when I start my computer, I get a box that opens with "AppleSyncNotifier.exe" Entry Point Not Found in the title.
    It says:  "The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQlite3.dll.
    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and still get an error message when trying to sync my phone with iTunes
    "iTunes could not back up iPhone ####, because a session could not be started with the iPhone."
    The last time I tried to sync my phone (iPhone 3G S) with iTunes, everything seemed to freeze up at Stage 4 of the sync process.
    Any advice????

    With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
    Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
    Reboot and see if all is well
    In case that your OS is Windows 7 (64 bit)
    Good Luck
