Cross-domain Data Loading

I have a webpage that is using the Tooltip/HTML Panel
structure to load details from a database:
http://www.fctu.org.uk/repfinder/tooltip.asp
The problem is that the html panel page is at
http://www.fctu.org.uk/repfinder/tooltiprep.asp
and cannot be accessed if the user is at
http://fctu.org.uk/repfinder/tooltip.asp
rather than
http://www.fctu.org.uk/repfinder/tooltip.asp
I know from other threads that this is due to security
restrictions, but can anyone suggest a workaround please. I have a
crossdomain.xml file to make something else work but it doesn't
seem to be helping.
Thanks Edward

You are doing absolute paths at the moment. (
http://www.domain.com/repfinder/tooltiprep.asp?repID=356)
Try using a relative paths
/repfinder/tooltiprep.asp?repID=356

  • Cross-domain SWF loading doesn't work

    I've been trying to get cross-domain SWF loading to work for
    a while now, but even though it works from the Flash IDE the loaded
    SWF is blank when I upload it to a webserver somewhere. And yes,
    both servers have a crossdomain.xml file in their root folder, and
    I've also used System.security.allowDomain("*"). I've published
    both using the 'using network' option in the publish dialog.
    Could someone please help me with this, as I can't seem to
    find why it isn't loading. I've also read the entire PDF about
    Flash 9 security, but I couldn't find anything about external SWF
    loading except for the crossdomain files.

    A little more color on this: If there are 2 or more messages in the active mailbox (and others in a different mailbox), the expand/collapse function works for the messages in the active mailbox. In the message column on the right, all the messages in the conversation are shown (both mailboxes). Only those messages in the active box are shown in the list column when the conversation is expanded. I can kind of see how this might be intentional, but it's strange to see lots of messages in the conversation in the right column, but only one or a few corresponding items in the messge list.

  • How to enable cross domain file loading in Firefox

    I have some javascript on domain A which would load a file on domain B, and I need to enable cross site data transferring in browsers.
    For IE, I can set it in Options -> Security -> Custom Level -> Enable Cross Site Data transferring
    For Chrome and Safari, launch the browser with additional parameter --disable-security-server
    But for firefox, I don't know how to do this, when I am visiting the web page on domain A, it returned me 401 unauthorized error.

  • Cross Domain Data Source Error in SSRS 2008

    We have our data warehouse server on a different Windows domain (Domain ABC) to the domain where our end user tools such as SSRS and SSAS sit (DOMAIN 123).  Historically we've used SQL server mixed mode authentication to get around any cross domain
    authentication issues but to tighten up security we are trying to switch to Windows only.  However, I'm unable to my development instance of SSRS to connect to a datasource using credentials from a different domain.
    I created a copy of the live data source with the same settings except for the credentials.  Here I selected Windows credentials (without impersonation ticked) and put in the username with the format DOMAINABC\DomainAccount with a domain account from
    the same domain as our DWH server.  However, none of the reports I tested can conect and throw the error below.  Please can anyone give me some pointers on things to check?  My google research has drawn a blank so far!
    An error occurred during client rendering.
    An error has occurred during report processing.
    Cannot impersonate user for data source 'DWH'.
    Log on failed.
    Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007052E)

    From your inital post, it sounded like you wanted to login to the data source with a remote domain user (123 in your example). Glad to see that's not the case!
    When you tested the credentials with SSMS were you on the remote domain?
    It looks to me like the impersonation is implicit: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms160330.aspx
    Theres a couple of notes at the top of that page about remote access being enabled, and the ports that should be open too.
    Theres a bunch of potentially useful information about what your connection string should look like here too:

  • Cross-domain AlwaysOn Availability Groups

    I had a colleague of mine comment in a meeting that SQL Server 2014 supports cross-domain data synchronisation using AlwaysOn Availability Groups.  I didn't contradict that immediately because, even though I thought it wasn't the case, I couldn't find
    any documentation either confirming or denying it.
    Looking at the Network Access section for troubleshooting AlwaysOn AG (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff878308.aspx#NetworkAccess), the inference is that you
    can have AlwaysOn AG spanning different domains. However, one of the pre-requisities for creating a WSFC is that all servers that are to be added as cluster nodes are joined to the same Active Directory domain (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn505754.aspx).
    So I guess the question is - can you have a cross-domain implementation of AlwaysOn AG?  And if so, how?

    Check this blog -
    http://sqlha.com/2012/04/13/allans-alwayson-availability-groups-faq/
    Q: Do all of my WSFC nodes need to be part of the same domain?
    A: Yes. This will be a change for those who are looking to upgrade existing log shipping or DBM deployments where Instance A and Instance B are not in the same domain.
    The fact that all the participating nodes in an Always ON availability group has to be members of the same WSFC makes it clear that we cannot have cross domain Always ON.

  • Load XML file from addon domain without cross-domain Policy file

    Hello.
    Assuming that there are two addon domains on the same server: /public_html/domain1.com       and      /public_html/domain2.com
    I try to load XML file from domain2.com into domain1.com without using cross-domain policy file (since it doesn’t work on xml files in my case).
    So the idea is to use php file in order to load XML and read it back to flash.
    I’ve found an interesting scripts that seems to do the job but unfortunately I can't get it to work. In my opinion there is somewhere problem with AS3 part. Please take a look.
    Here are the AS3/PHP scripts:
    AS3 (.swf in www.domain1.com):
    // location of the xml that you would like to load, full http address
    var xmlLoc:String = "http://www.domain2.com/MyFile.xml";
    // location of the php xml grabber file, in relation to the .swf
    var phpLoc:String = "loadXML.php";
    var xml:XML;
    var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(phpLoc+"?location="+escape(xmlLoc) );
    loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onXMLLoaded);
    loader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onIOErrorHandler);
    loader.load(request);
    function onIOErrorHandler(e:IOErrorEvent):void {
        trace("There was an error with the xml file "+e);
    function onXMLLoaded(e:Event):void {
        trace("the rss feed has been loaded");
        xml = new XML(loader.data);
        // set to string, since it is passed back from php as an object
        xml = XML(xml.toString());
        xml_txt.text = xml;
    PHP (loadXML.php in www.domain1.com):
    <?php
    header("Content-type: text/xml");
    $location = "";
    if(isset($_GET["location"])) {
        $location = $_GET["location"];
        $location = urldecode($location);
    $xml_string = getData($location);
    // pass the url encoded vars back to Flash
    echo $xml_string;
    //cURLs a URL and returns it
    function getData($query) {
        // create curl resource
        $ch = curl_init();
        // cURL url
        curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $query);
        //Set some necessary params for using CURL
        curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
        curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
       //Execute the curl function, and decode the returned JSON data
        $result = curl_exec($ch);
        return $result;
        // close curl resource to free up system resources
        curl_close($ch);
    ?>

    I think you might be right about permissions/settings on the server for php. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to adjust them.
    So I wrote my own script - this time I used file path instead of http address of the XML file.  It works fine in my case.
    Here it is:
    XML file on domain2.com:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <gallery>
        <image imagePath="galleries/gallery_1/images/1.jpg" thumbPath="galleries/gallery_1/thumbs/1.jpg" file_name= "1"> </image>
        <image imagePath="galleries/gallery_1/images/2.jpg" thumbPath="galleries/gallery_1/thumbs/2.jpg" file_name= "2"> </image>
        <image imagePath="galleries/gallery_1/images/3.jpg" thumbPath="galleries/gallery_1/thumbs/3.jpg" file_name= "3"> </image>
    </gallery>
    swf  on domain1.com:
    var imagesXML:XML;
    var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
    var varURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("MyPHPfile.php");
    varURL.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
    varURL.data = variables;
    var MyLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader;
    MyLoader.dataFormat =URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;
    MyLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, XMLDone);
    MyLoader.load(varURL);
    function XMLDone(event:Event):void {
        var imported_XML:Object = event.target.data.imported_XML;
        imagesXML = new XML(imported_XML);
       MyTextfield_1.text = imagesXML;
       MyTextfield_2.text = imagesXML.image[0].attribute("thumbPath");  // sample reference to attribute "thumbPath" of the first element
    php file on domain1.com:
    <?php
    $xml_file = simplexml_load_file('../../domain2.com/galleries/gallery_1/MyXMLfile.xml');  // directory to XML file on the same server
    $imported_XML = $xml_file->asXML();
    print "imported_XML=" . $imported_XML;
    ?>
    Regards
    PS: for those who read the above discussion: the first and the second script work but you must test which one is better in your situation. The first script will also work between two domains on different servers. No cross domain policy file needed.

  • How and when to load cross-domain.xml for web services.

    I'm accessing some 3rd party web services and so I need them to have a cross-domain.xml file, which they have done.
    In order to access their web services, am I correct that I need to load the cross-domain.xml file they put on their web server, and if so, is my code to do so below correct, which I put in my creationComplete handler function?
    Note, of course the IP address in my code is not 0.0.0.0.
    Do I need all these lines, and am I doing this correctly?
    Currently I am getting a SecurityErrorEvent.
    Security.allowDomain("0.0.0.0");
    Security.loadPolicyFile("http://0.0.0.0/crossdomain.xml");
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://0.0.0.0/crossdomain.xml");
    var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, policyLoaded);
    loader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, policyIOError);
    loader.addEventListener(SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, policySecurityError);
    loader.load(request);

    Okay, I found that when I put the crossdomain.xml file at the root of my web site file area my hosting company provides, I do not specifically need to load the crossdomain.xml file.
    But if I want finer control over who has access to what, and I put the crossdomain.xml file in the same directory as my Flex app SWF file, what lines of the following code (or additional lines I don't know about) should I put in my app creationComplete handler function to load the crossdomain.xml file?
    Note, of course the IP address in my code is not 0.0.0.0.
    Do I need all these lines, and am I doing this correctly?
    Security.allowDomain("0.0.0.0");
    Security.loadPolicyFile("http://0.0.0.0/myAppFolder/crossdomain.xml");
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://0.0.0.0/myAppFolder/crossdomain.xml");
    var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, policyLoaded);
    loader.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, policyIOError);
    loader.addEventListener(SecurityErrorEvent.SECURITY_ERROR, policySecurityError);
    loader.load(request);

  • Cross Domain XML not working

    Greetings,
    I recently obtained two different domains that point to a subdirectory of another domain server. The swf file I created does not show up when I use the domains that are pointing to the subdirectory of the original domain.
    I placed an xml file into the root directory that contains the following code:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    <cross-domain-policy>
        <allow-access-from domain="*.newdomainname1.com"/>
        <allow-access-from domain="*.newdomainame2.com"/>
    </cross-domain-policy>
    Nothing shows up. Is there something else I need to do make this work? I created the swf file using CS3 - Action Script 2. I tried searching everywhere to see if I'm missing a step, but cannot find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I'm still not entirely clear what the problem is.
    Those links to the other domain show 404 errors, which is related to how things are set up on your hosting server for those domains, and nothing to do with flash.
    Are you trying to get the swf at http://www.searecovery.com/ to load data from the other domains? (I can't see it trying to do that, so perhaps not)
    If so you need to add *.searecovery.com to the crossdomain files at the other domains.
    Crossdomain files give flash content (swfs) hosted at one domain access to load data (or grant access to the data of loaded assets) from another domain.
    So you need crossdomain permission if you want a swf hosted at www.danfoss-searecovery.com to load xml data from www.danfosssearecovery.com for example, or to get at the bitmapdata of jpgs loaded from www.danfosssearecovery.com.
    If you just want to host the swf at the other domain, and if it's not loading data from external domains, then you pretty much just need to move copies of the html and swf there along with any external assets it loads (so long as you have used relative urls for loaded assets from within the swf) . If that's what you're trying to do then the issue here is likely to be simply how your hosting environment is set up for the other domains.

  • Cross-domain JSON dataset

    Hello, I'm working on an AIR application that needs to get a
    dataset from the internet. Is this possible as is?
    If not, I would like an example of how I would go about
    implementing cross-domain JSON datasets in Spry. I've been playing
    around with JSON injection requests, and that seems to return the
    data just fine, but how do I get the data into spry?
    My recieving function looks like this:
    callback( data )
    .if(data == null){
    ....alert('error');
    .}else{
    ....var imageTitle = data.Image.Title;
    etc etc..
    Thanks in advance

    I'll paste the code here to show you what I'm attempting.
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:spry="http://ns.adobe.com/spry">

          <script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript" src="includes/SpryJSONDataSet.js"></script>
          <script type="text/javascript">
             var ds1 = new Spry.Data.JSONDataSet("includes/testing.js", {path:"Posts"});
          </script>
       </head>
       <body>
          <div spry:region="ds1">
             <div spry:state="loading">Loading Data...</div>
             <div spry:state="error">Error Loading JSON Data</div>
            <div spry:state="ready" spry:repeat="ds1">

                </p>
             </div>
          </div>
       </body>
    </html>
    Above is the working version with the JSON data copied to a file on my server.
    This is the actual link to the JSON that I'm wanting to use:
    http://mcelroy.acquiretm.com/services/CareerCenterJSON.aspx?get=GetActiveJobs
    But of course using this path causes it to fail.
    Thanks again for the help!

  • Cross Domain Call in SharePoint Hosted app.

    Hi, I am very new in SharePoint 2013 App dev and want to understand when actually Cross domain calls are required and how we can achieve it.
    Getting host web site title from a sharepoint hosted app needs a cross domain call?
    My point of confusion is some places I have seen we have to load SPRequestExecutor for getting data from host web  but I am able to get it using changing the context to host web and then getting the title without using SPRequestExecutor:
     appContextSite = new SP.AppContextSite(ctx, spHostUrl);
       Nweb = appContextSite.get_web();
       //Nweb = ctx.get_web();
       ctx.load(Nweb);
    What is the difference between the two( using SPRequestExecutor and not using) and what places we need to use it and where we can get data without it ?
    please help me to resolve this confusion.
    Thanks

    Hi vmishr11,
    When you use SP.RequestExecutor, it will execute asynchronously to get data from host web. It will use like below:
    var executor = new SP.RequestExecutor(appweburl);
    executor.executeAsync(
    url:
    appweburl +
    "/_api/web/lists/getbytitle('Announcements')/items",
    method: "GET",
    headers: { "Accept": "application/json; odata=verbose" },
    success: successHandler,
    error: errorHandler
    For SP.AppContextSite, it will execute in order to get data.

  • Spry JSONDataset and IE8 cross domain policy

    Hi,
    I'm using Spry JSON Dataset to retreive feeds of JSON data from Google Picasa and then show the results on our photo page. Works fine in Firefox but not in IE8. Is this a cross domain issue or is something else happening to stop the page rendering the spry regions in IE8? I know IE8 can be quite fussy at times.
    Debug tools in IE8 not the best (give me firebug any time)
    Page is here www.thehmc.co.uk/photonew.html
    Phil

    Hi,
    Now I've had time to play and got my head around what JSON-P really means - I've come up with a lightweight solution. Arnout thanks for your input as that sent me off on the right track.
    I noticed that Google can provide the JSON string wrapped in a callback function - see format below
    http://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/api/user/thehmc.co.uk?kind=tag&alt=json-in-script&ca llback=testit&hl=en_GB
    Firstly I define my Spry JSONDataset as before but don't give it an url to load the data from
    var dsTags = new Spry.Data.JSONDataSet(null,{path:"feed.entry",  subPaths:["title","gphoto$weight"],sortOrderOnLoad: "ascending", sortOnLoad: "title.$t"} );
    So introducing the function below, which dynamically adds a script to the document body pointing top the url you pass it
    function makeRequest(sUrl) {
            var oScript = document.createElement("script");
            oScript.src = sUrl;
            oScript.async = true
            var done = false;
            oScript.onload = oScript.onreadystatechange = function()
                if ( !done && (!this.readyState || this.readyState === "loaded" || this.readyState === "complete") )
                  done = true;
                   oScript.onload = oScript.onreadystatechange = null;
                   if ( oScript && oScript.parentNode )
                    oScript.parentNode.removeChild( oScript );
            document.body.appendChild(oScript);
    and then calling it, passing the url to the Google feed
    makeRequest("http://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/api/user/thehmc.co.uk?kind=tag&alt=json-in-script&ca llback=testit&hl=en_GB");
    Function testit(root)
        dsTags.setDataFromDoc(root);
    Since the JSON string is already converted to a JSON object when it arrives at the callback function I had to change the JSONDataset function as below to not to try and parse if already an object
    Spry.Data.JSONDataSet.prototype.loadDataIntoDataSet = function(rawDataDoc)
        if (this.preparseFunc)
            rawDataDoc = this.preparseFunc(this, rawDataDoc);
        var jsonObj;
        if (typeof rawDataDoc == "object")
            jsonObj = rawDataDoc;
       else
            try    { jsonObj = this.useParser ? this.parseJSON(rawDataDoc) : eval("(" + rawDataDoc + ")"); }
            catch(e)
                Spry.Debug.reportError("Caught exception in JSONDataSet.loadDataIntoDataSet: " + e);
                jsonObj = {};
    This works a treat in IE8 and Firefox.
    I can see that your YQL version will be more flexible in terms of the number of feeds it'll be able to provide in JSON format but for now I just need this for Google Picasa.  Ideally I'd like a YQL version that retrieves the JSON string and then passes it to a user defined callback function to do with what it wants.
    I need to change my other JSON datasets but otherwise the page will be good to go soon enough.
    Cheers for your inputs
    Phil

  • Cross-domain service script

    I am working on a site which is utilizing some plug-ins from a another company. An item this other company is providing is a link to an XML file which is generated/updated daily. The owner of the site I am working on wants to have the information within this file visible on his home page in a side bar. If I save the XML file within his site and create the Spry data set, everything works beautifully, but if I create the data set linking to the XML file url, it doesn't work. Because this is information updated daily, I do not want to have to go into this site, save a new XML file and upload it daily. Within the Spry Framework Help in Dreamweaver, I found this:
    "The URL you decide to use (whether absolute or relative) is subject to the browser’s security model, which means that you can only load data from an XML source that is on the same server domain as the HTML page you’re linking from. You can avoid this limitation by providing a cross-domain service script. For more information, consult your server administrator."
    I contacted the other company about this cross-domain service script, but they didn't seem to have a solution. I have no idea where to begin or what to do to resolve this. Any suggestions are most appreciated.
    Thanks,
    A

    crossdomain script might be wrong term for your solution here. What
    you basically need a script on your server, that does request to the
    crossdomain server. This script will get / read / your required xml
    file and just prints its contents with the correct header. These
    scripts are also known as proxy scripts. For example a script like
    this: http://www.phpfour.com/blog/2008/03/cross-domain-ajax-using-php/
    hopes this helps.

    I am placing it in my server.
    From flex i am running this:
    Security.loadPolicyFile("my server address");
    And yet I am getting this event:
    SecurityErrorEvent type="securityError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2048"
    What can I do?

    Hello ILikeMyScreenNameNdCoffee,
    I had the same problem with XMLSocket and I used a policy server that runs
    on the remote server on port 843 and from Flex I load file before connecting
    the xmlsocket Security.loadPolicyFile("my server address:843"). If you want
    I can upload a version of my policy server or you can use the server policy
    from here
    http://www.broculos.net/tutorials/how_to_make_a_multi_client_flash_java_server/20080320/en
    Also you can read here more about file policy:

  • Cross Domain Trust Error, while opening the infopath in sharepoint list.

    Dear All,
    Facing some issue in
    Environement:
    Windows = Windows Server 2008
    Shareppoint = Sharepoint Server 2013.
    Project Server = Project Server 2013
    Info Path = Info Path Designer 2013
    Detailed:
    I have sharepoint environment with Project Server,I which have created task list in my project site and then i customize that form using info path their is one column named: "Product Name" in my task list which is drop down menu in that menu
    i want to show all the project name which are created in PWA Site. For that i made the External data connection to my sql server and select my desired table from that and also configured the my column data "i:e; Product Name. And published it to the my
    site. Now when i opened that form it prompts the error
    "The form cannot be submitted because this action would violate cross-domain restrictions.
    If this form template is published to a SharePoint document library, cross-domain access for user form templates must be enabled
    under InfoPath Forms Services in SharePoint Central Administration, and the data connection settings must be stored in a UDC file in a data connection library in the same site collection.
    If this is an administrator-approved form template, the security level of the form must be set to full trust, or the data connection
    settings must be stored in a UDC file by using the Manage data connection files option under InfoPath Forms Services in SharePoint Central Administration ."
    Oopsss !!
    Now start googling it found couple of solution shared listed below:
    1. Enable the cross domain authenticated in Central Admin –> General Application Settings –> Configure InfoPath Form Services (Done)
    2. Now Created the data connection library in my site collection which is PWA Site after that i went to the infopath and creating the data connection and
    Convert to Connection File and enter the URL of the data connection library
    and its prompt the error " the specified url is not a data connection library and enter the correct filename" didnt remember the exact error description at the moment.
    So, that was all stuff, Kindly suggest me any step which i missed that or ay solution that resolve my this issue.
    Thanks
    REGARDS DANISH DANIE

    it seems the data-seed failed in your dehydration store.
    so i would check if user orabple exsits in your db (pw is orabpel) .. and recreate the schema by executing the following script (based on your db)
