Cross Tab Question

I am trying to add a cross tab to a report. The page set up is 8 1/2 X 11 - Portrait.
My cross tab data is very wide and runs onto new pages. I would like to keep it together on one page.
Is there a way to wrap the cross tab, or keep on one page?

Travis,
There is a way to wrap crosstabs.
Do this:
For the item you are placing as your crosstab column, create this formula called @Each Column:
WhileReadingRecords;
Global Numbervar ColumnNo := ColumnNo + 1
Next, create another formula that you will use as your grouping for this column, call it @ColumnGrouping.
EvaluateAfter ({@Each Column});
Global Numbervar ColumnNo;
Int((ColumnNo - 1)/6)
Insert a group on formula @ColumnGrouping and place your crosstab in there.  In the example above, you will see it will wrap for every 6 columns.
I hope this helps,
Regards,
Zack H.

How can I avoid Crystal from cutting the horizontal pages of
my cross tab in a subreport.
    I tried the suggestion in
    Cross Tab Question
but the length of the columns is not fix.
So I tried a division with 170 to 200, but if there are
20 values in the first column and only 4 in the next 30 columns,
my cross tab expandes to much.
I have only enough space for 10 columns.
    Thanks.

I also encountered this problem and I have no idea how to create a cross tab manually. Could you please give me some idea on how to create one. The cross tab in my report has a variable number of columns(e.g. the report could produce two crosstabs, the first cross tab has 16 columns and the second one has 4 columns.)

  • How to get the last "reported" value in a cross tab

    Dear all,
based on a BeX Query Universe I have built a report with a cross tab in webI.
Maybe you can help me with the following issue. There I have a problem: I want to get in the Total-column always the last reported value, e.g. for Number Total Customers "66", not for Mar or Apr, because they are null.
    Calendar Month                      |Jan| |Feb| |Mar| |Apr| |Total|
    Number Total Customers         |54|    |66|  | |      | |       66
    Number Active Customers      |57|    |71|  | |      | |       71
I hope that you understand my problem and could help as soon as possible.
Thanks a lot in advance for your support.

  • Creating a header for rows/columns in cross-tab with syntax

    Hi,
The issue is creating strings for rows or columns' headers. How can I create a formula field which contains more than one seperate string. Such as "aaa", "bbb" and "ccc" are headers and they should be in seperate columns. In short, they will behave like characteristics of one of my query's field but they are just headers of the columns.
    ..............aaa...bbb...ccc....
    row1.......x.......x........x.....
    row2.......y.......y........y.....
Also there is another issue about the formulation again. Is there any operator that does the same job as " \n" which is used in C languages to break the line?
    before:
    aaabbb
    after:
    aaa
    bbb

    Hi Carl;
Firstly, thanks for answering my question. To explain my problem there are two options ahead(for my first question); first one is writing down the actions step by step, the second one is posting an image file(jpeg etc) to visualize it. I think the first one will be enough. If not tell me
Step 1- Create a cross-tab and right click and select cross-tab expert.
Step 2- Click the button "New Formula" and write down any word(such as "Sales") between two -"- sign to make it string. Then save and close.
Step 3- Drag and drop the created formula to "columns" section and fill the other necessary sections with your database's(such as xtreme.mdb which is famous for crystal users) fields.Don't forget to add another column value to "columns" section, since our formula has no link to database.
Step 4- Then click OK to save the changes and lets preview the cross-tab.The result will have one top column and his child or children(that depends on your data). And this top column is behaving like a header not a field.
Now turn the second step but write down a formula for 2 columns or more. For exmple "Sales" and "Profit".So the result will have 2 top columns and their child/children.
My question is "what is the formula for 2 or more columns?"
Also I couldn't get the answer for my second question. What is the meaning of expressions "\c" and ChrW(13)?

  • Additional columns in Cross tab

If I have Project name as the column and project count as the summary in a cross tab
    for eg
    ProjectA,ProjectB, ProjectC
    3,             4,           5
CaN i add additional columns next to project C having  some condition related to these projects and project counts and then get the grand total??
    Thanks

Let's see...  This is about the tenth time I've answered this question in the past few weeks, but, hay, let's do it again!
The only way I am aware of adding columns to a crosstab is by including new data in your database query.  So, if you currently are returning the data
    Project    Count
    ProjectA   2
    ProjectB   4
    ProjectC   5
Than, probably using a database command for the data source, change it to return
    Project    Count
    ProjectA   2
    ProjectB   4
    ProjectC   5
    Totals     11
How this is accomplished very much depends on your database tables and what additional columns you want to add to the crosstab.

  • Row Headers in Cross Tab Report -Crystal Report XI

I am trying to create a cross tab report. The report has 4 rows and the columns get generated based on the value of a database field.
    I have 2 questions
Question 1 : I want the rows to have headers. I insert text objects in the report and when I run the report in crystal, the headers are displaying as required. But when I export to excel, the headers are displayed after the data. How can I create row headers and get them exported to excel as row headers.
Question 2: I am creating the column based on a database field. The field is of text data type. The sorting for this filed is 1. abc ,10. abc , 11.abc , 2.abc , 3.abc ; etc where abc is a text string. How can I sort the columns so that the columns appear as 1.abc, 2.abc, 3.abc etc.
I tried using the specified order sorting, but when I check the list of values that it creates to select the values, it is truncating the values. I can only see part of the values from the database.
    Please Help!!!

I don't have Crystal in front of me so I will try to do this from memory.  If you right click on a report object, there is option on one of the tabs (I think it is General) that says Display String with a corresponding X button.  If you click on that, then you can enter a text expression that overrides the actual value of the report object.
In your case, if you want to add a static header text to the row data, you could try something like the following:
    if Gender = "M"
         then "Mr. " + CurrentFieldValue
         else "Ms. " + CurrentFieldValue
where Gender is a field object in the report and CurrentFieldValue is the data object specified for rows in the cross-tab.
If you wanted to put header on the previous line, you could try something like this:
    "Account ID" + chr(13) + CurrentFieldValue
where CurrentFieldValue is the account ID string.
    Fuskie
Who expects this looks nothing like your actual report but hopefully it works as an example...

  • Discover group problem with cross tab report

Hi, I'm working on a cross tab report in discoverer 4i and I'm having a problem with two of the colums. I'm doing a count on one field but because they are called something different they are being shown as two seperate columns rather than 1.
I have one called 101 -AVG and another called 101-AVG. My condition pulls every result back that starts with 101 in the table. So because in the table the values are different it breaks the count into totals for 101 -AVG and 101-AVG.
Is there some way I can group these results together into one field?
    thanks,

  • Cross tab reporting in Crystal 8.5

    Post Author: KPetrey
    CA Forum: General
I am trying to create a cross tab report for some data that will have varying number of columns.I am running into a problem where some situations are producing 25 or more columns.  This results in the crossing over to a second page.My end-users are going to dislike this very much.  I am trying to duplicate a report they had with their previous software system and it did not cross pages.  All data stayed on one page. My questions are as follows:Is there a way to make the cross tab wrap so that data does not cross to second page?Is there a different way to do what I need other than cross tab? What I am trying to do is list a column for each store that will show the qty of a product that is ordered for it....the number of stores will vary depending on my end-users setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Crosstab is designed to grow wide-wise if the number of columns increases. How can you avoid splitting pages if the number of columns will reach, for example, 50?
You should probably first make a decision, whether your report must be fixed-column or variable-column. If you stick to fix-column, you can design the report to accommodate theoretical maximum of columns, and imitate dynamic columns by using groups, formulas and hiding columns not in use at run time. Pain in the a** with 25+ columns but still doable. Drawback - if actual data will exceed the maximum number of columns, you are out of luck. Or you could stay with crosstab to keep support for variable number of columns, using small font and "Show Cell Margins" option to squeeze as many columns as is actually possible before falling over to the second page. I would prefer the latter if you ask me.

  • Hide Cross Tab Header

    Post Author: lbassil
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    All,
I want to know if it's possible to hide the header of a cross tab? The suppress option did supress the header, but leaves space equal to the height of the header. So I tried to set the height = 0, i could not do it because the minimum height is 70 (as I concluded). Any clue?
Anyone can help in this issue? Either tell me how to make the height of the cross tab header = 0, or how to stop repeating the column header of the cross tab on each new page?
    Regards.

    Hi!
if i've correctly understood your question:
click on your left into the section "document structure and filters) (incon paper with a pencil)
right click on your cross table block and select "format table"
on the option page that come up there is on the right a flag "show top header".
    remove it a click ok!
    i hope this help!

  • Date Formatting in Charts and Dynamic column resizing in Cross tabs

    Hi All,
I am new to Design Studio, so am in desperate need of your help on the following:
Is there a way we can change the date format in x axis in charts?
For ex: Am getting dates as mm/yyyyy from BW but requirement is to show in yy-Mon
Requirement is to display data in cross tab just below the charts. How can I make the column widths in the cross tab the same as x-axis divisions in the chart? Also, this will be dynamic as depending on filter selection x axis scaling in charts will vary.
In cross tab, can I hide the column header?
Would really appreciate any kind of help from you.
    Thanks & Regards
    Swasti

    HI Swasti,
To answer your first question, in Design Studio it's what you see is what you get! so it shows the Data Labels as it is in the BEx output, if you have to modify this you have to change it in the Background.
There might be CSS workarounds, but I am not sure if that will satisfy your requirements.
You can fix the Column width, but it would be constant, aligning that to your X-axis would require a lot of Effort.
You cannot hide the Column header directly, but one workaround would be to use a white BG text component to overlay on the Crosstab.

  • Error formatting Cross-Tab table

    Hello!
My CR2008 reports include many cross-tab tables and till now, everything went smoothly.
...till I got the message "Error formatting Cross-Tab table" while viewing the print preview.
Technically the error comes up while clicking one of the groups itemized on the left.
The database hasn't changed. Besides it happened with two different reports associated with two different data bases.
    Any idea ?
Any help would be appreciated as I've been lost for a while.
    Thib'

Before I received your answer (thanks a million by the way), I have been installing/un-installing subreports in the main report 'til the 'Error formatting Cross-Tab table' stops.
The Error stopped occurring when I added a small Group Footer in the subreport : apparently the Error had begun when I had put it to a zero-height.
Having said that, an hour later and many changes here and there, I have just put a zero-height again and no Error anymore...
    > Check in the main report design tab to see if the width of the subreport fits within the page of the main report.
    > If it doesn't try shrinking the subreport to fit.
Within 'an hour later and many changes here and there', I did the opposite : I widened a subreport which did not fit in the main report. And the Error isn't raised anymore.
    > What happens if you drill into the subreport?
You mean if I double-click the subreport to edit it ?
If that is your question, no Error has ever been raised in the subreport : always in the Preview tab of the Main Report.
Sorry for describing such an irrational behavior.
I will categorize my question as answered but if you have any idea, I'd be delighted : I feel like this can happen again and I'd be less under stress to know what detail/ 'parameter' makes CR raise this Error. But your hint about the subreport fitting or not within the main report might be a clue.
    Thank you again
    Thib'
