Hi,
i'm trying to install crs 11.2 in silent mode with response file.
my oracle_home is /grid and when i execute runinstaller it reports
"Error returned: No such file or directory" after check prerequisite.
I try to change oracle_home in /grid/crs and the error was not reported.
i need to put grid 11.2 on /grid oracle_home.
can anyone help me?
First rule, use the Optimal Flexible Architecture (OFA) standard.

Hi All,
I've the below mentioned problem.
Some time ago, I installed Oracle 11g RAC. As this installation failed, I removed both Grid Home and Database Home using "rm", rather than deinstalling as deinstall failed while running. Now, when I do a fresh install of Oracle 11g RAC, I get the below response while running $GRID_HOME/root.sh:

Can someone help. I am willing to provide any information.
Thanks,Hi Pradeep,
Your suggestion helped immensely. I removed all the oracle related files and directories from /etc/oracle, removed entry in /etc/inittab and removed links to startup/kill scripts from /etc/rc.d/*.
I've added below steps I followed so it may be helpful:
1. Removed these directory lastgasp, oprocd, scls_scr from /etc/oracle
2. removed ocr.loc.orig, olr.loc, olr.loc.orig from /etc/oracle
3. Removed the entry h1:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.ohasd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null from /etc/inittab
4. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc0.d
5. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc1.d
6. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc2.d
7. Removed S96ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc3.d
8. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc4.d
9. Removed S96ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc5.d
10. Removed K19ohasd -> /etc/init.d/ohasd from /etc/rc.d/rc6.d
Then, Grid installation was started, and root.sh went well. The Grid Infrastructure was installed successfully on both the nodes.
This has been performed on all nodes in the cluster. In fact, I had only 2 nodes in the cluster.
Thanks again, -

how to i store a gui mode report in a file and print it..eg..i give a query select count(*) from emp...with
desname -> c:\myfile.txt
destype -> file
mode -> default
after the report runs and i check the file it has only some junk characters no readable output why...any suggestions
but if i give mode-> character it writes to a file..
also cant we give PRT filename in DESFORMAT
if destype is a file and mode-> default..
it complains invalid desformat used..but if mode is character it allows please clarify
nullHello,
You didn't say what version of Reports, but likely you are using the bitmapped executable, which means you should explicitly set MODE=CHARACTER. As it is, it is defaulting to BITMAPPED, which means it is producing Postscript or PCL output.
As the documentation states, MODE=BITMAPPED means DESFORMAT contains the output type (PDF, RTF, etc.).

Why is the BSM auditd reporting "no such file" regardless of audit_control?
Solaris 8. Latest patch cluster installed. BSM enabled. Why does my auditd security log get filled with stat calls regardless of what flags I've configured in /etc/security/audit_control? As a test I reduced audit_control all the way down to.:
dir:/var/audit
flags:lo
naflags:lo
minfree:15
Restarted the auditd and I still get lots of entries such as the below. This clogs the audit log with useless junk entries and causes the /var/audit filesystem to rapidly fill up when the server is busy. I do not have it logging -fr or such so why is it logging stat calls for files that don't exist? I don't understand.

configured in /etc/security/audit_control? As a test I reduced
audit_control all the way down to.:
dir:/var/audit
flags:lo
naflags:lo
minfree:15
Restarted the auditd and I still get lots of entries such as the below.The audit context of shell processes is set at login time via one of the
normal Sun provided login mechanisms (dtlogin, /bin/login, in.rlogind,
etc.). All child processes of the shell will inherit the same audit
context since this is stored in the process's proc_t. So when a user
logs in they acquire the audit context configured in audit_control(4)
(and audit_user(4) as applicable) in their login shell's
proc_t->p_audit_data and all sub-processes will contain the same audit
context. This can be displayed using 'auditconfig -getpinfo <pid>' as a
privileged user. You could run that auditconfig(1M) command against the
process-ID generating the audit records associated with the failed stat(2)
calls (pid 9783 from the audit trail provided) and you should see that the
audit context of the process still contains one of the audit classes such
as '-fr'.
The modification of audit_control(4) and audit_user(4) will only affect new
processes which are spawned by shells which have logged in after the
changes to the audit_control(4) and audit_user(4) files. For existing
processes you can modify their audit characteristics using 'auditconfig
-setpmask' or 'auditconfig -setsmask'. See the auditconfig(1M) man page
and the Solaris Auditing documentation at http://docs.sun.com/ for further
details. Alternatively, a reboot will obviously reset the audit
characteristics of running processes by forcing them to be restarted from
a new shell.
Hope this helps,

[SOLVED] cronie reports "/usr/sbin/run-cron: No such file or directory
Hi, I just made a fresh install of Arch Linux x86_64 on my PC and I'm having troubles with cronie.
cronie emails say:
/bin/sh: /usr/sbin/run-cron: No such file or directory
In crond.log I have:
Jan 2 22:01:01 localhost /USR/SBIN/CROND[4691]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly)
Jan 2 22:47:56 localhost /usr/sbin/crond[5529]: (CRON) STARTUP (1.4.8)
Jan 2 22:47:56 localhost /usr/sbin/crond[5529]: (CRON) INFO (Syslog will be used instead of sendmail.): No such file or directory
Jan 2 22:47:56 localhost /usr/sbin/crond[5529]: (CRON) INFO (running with inotify support)
Jan 2 22:47:56 localhost /usr/sbin/crond[5529]: (CRON) INFO (@reboot jobs will be run at computer's startup.)
Jan 2 23:00:01 localhost /USR/SBIN/CROND[5733]: (root) CMD (ID=sys-hourly /usr/sbin/run-cron /etc/cron.hourly)
Jan 2 23:00:01 localhost /USR/SBIN/CROND[5732]: (root) CMDOUT (/bin/sh: /usr/sbin/run-cron: No such file or directory)
Jan 2 23:01:01 localhost /USR/SBIN/CROND[5748]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly)
I've changed very little of the configuration files provided with the package: root's crontab is completely empty, and cron.hourly only contains the original untouched 0anacron file.
I have the same basic setup on another machine and I don't have such errors.
Any hints?
Thanks

Hi experts
I am in the process of upgrading an ECC6 system from EHP3 to EHP4.
During the downtime phase, I recieved an error stating ERROR : Copying files failed!
In the SAPehpi.log file, the following error is displayed:
Error message set: 'Cannot open '/oracle/sapehpi/EHPI/abap/exenew/dbatoolsora.lst': No such file or directory'
I checked for this file and it does not exist indeed.
Some of the blogs I have read are talking about the file DBATOOLS.SAR.
I don't have this in the list of SAR files that the maintenance optimizer has selected for download.
I am wondering if I am missing this file.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.Hi Soumeur,
Download "DBATOOLS Package for Oracle 10g and 11g" relevant for your kernel version from SAP Service market place then extract and replace it in kernel directory, It contains dbatoolsora.lst file,
This have resolved my issue,

Disk Utility "restore" fails with "no such file or directory"
Some time back, perhaps a LONG time ago, I successfully used Disk Utility's "restore" function to "clone" my Mac OS X partition onto an external disk, before I upgraded the OS on my internal drive.
This weekend I tried to do it again, and failed on every attempt.
My first attempt was on my MacBook. At very end (the progress "bar" was all blue) it died saying that there was an error (2), "no such file or directory". I think the external drive probably isn't GUID, which would make it non-bootable, but I'd still think "restore" itself should work.
Okay, let's try my Power Mac G5, which is where it worked several releases ago. Same thing.
Okay, one more try... Booted into safe mode (in case background activity accounts for the missing file/directory), did the restore again, failed again.
I realize that SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner or other tools may be "better", but since this worked once it seems like it still should.
Any ideas?
DougDid you:
A. Repair the hard drive and permissions prior to cloning?
B. Erase the destination drive before cloning?
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
How to Clone Using Restore Option of Disk Utility
1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
2. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
5. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
6. Select the startup or source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
8. Select the destination drive on the Desktop and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. At the bottom in the Ownership and Permissions section be sure the box labeled "Ignore Permissions on this Volume" is unchecked. Verify the settings for Ownership and Permissions as follows: Owner=system with read/write; Group=admin with read/write; Other with read-only. If they are not correct then reset them.
For added precaution you can boot into safe mode before doing the clone. -

Hi Gurus,
I'm trying to upgrade my test 9.2.0.8 rac to 10.1 rac. I cannot upgrade to 10.2 because of RAM limitations on my test RAC. 10.1 Clusterware software was successfully installed and the daemons are up with OCR and voting disk created. Then during the installation of RAC software at the end, root.sh needs to be run. When I run root.sh, it gave the error: while loading shared libraries: libpthread.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. I have libpthread.so.0 in /lib. I looked up on metalink and found Doc ID: 414163.1 . I unset the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL in vipca (unsetting of LD_ASSUME_KERNEL was not required in srvctl because there was no LD_ASSUME_KERNEL in srvctl). Then I tried to run vipca manually. I receive the following error: Error 0(Native: listNetInterfaces:[3]). I'm able to see xclock and xeyes. So its not a problem with x.

My questions are:
should ping on sunny1vip and sunny2vip be already working? As of now they dont work.
if you look at oifcfg getif, I initially had eth1 10.0.0.0 global cluster_interconnect,eth0 192.168.2.0 global public then I created eth1 10.1.1.0 global cluster_interconnect with setif. Should it be 10.1.1.0 or 10.0.0.0. I looked at the subnet calculator and it says for 10.1.1.1, 10.0.0.0 is the subnet. In metalink they had used 10.10.10.0 and hence I used 10.1.1.0
Any ideas on resolving this issue would be very much appreciated. I had been searching on oracle forums, google, metalink but all of them refer to DOC Id 414163.1 but it does n't seem to work. Please help. Thanks in advance.

I just choose to install 10.1.0.3 software and after running root.sh on both nodes, I clicked ok and then the End of installation screen appeared. Under installed products, I see 9i home, 10g home, crs home. Under 10g home and crs home, I see cluster nodes(sunny1pub and sunny2pub) So it looks like the 10g software is installed. -
Can't exec '/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2' (No such file or directory)
1) I installed Mac OS 10.6.4.
2) I installed Xcode Tools 3.2.4 with iOS SDK 4.1 (Mac OS 10.6 version).
3) I created a new 'command line tool' XCode project.
4) I hit 'Build'.
5) The build failed, with the following error message:
Can't exec '/Developer/usr/bin/gcc-4.2' (No such file or directory)
6) There is no gcc-4.2 in /Developer/usr/bin.
7) There is an i686-apple-darwin10-gcc-4.2.1 in /Developer/usr/bin.
8) There is a gcc-4.2 in /usr/bin.
Yes, I installed the 10.6 version of XCode.
Yes, I told it to install everything (all the optional installs).
Yes, I deleted and reinstalled XCode, and still get the same error.
~/.MacOSX/environment.plist does not set any environment variables other than GL_* and SSH_*.
.profile, .login and .cshrc do not set CC.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.I uninstalled the devtools & installed the new version (XCode 3.2.5). I then ran the new uninstaller. Interestingly, a number of developer tools remain in /Developer:

DB- open: /var/imap/deliver.db: No such file or directory
Hi folks,
yesterday the mail went to ****. I was running 10.3.5. I tried reconstruct several times, even recreating imap environment using mkimap but still no luck.
I decided it's time to upgrade to 10.3.9 so I did it. I made a reconstruct again, the mail worked for 10 minutes and stopped again. I Installed mailbfr, did
mailbfr -f
mailbfr -q
still doesn't work.
mailbfr -d says:
DB->open: /var/imap/deliver.db: No such file or directory

The reason it didn’t complete was probably some filesystem corruption that starting up in Safe Mode may have already fixed, but you should look into it anyway, just in case.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the update using the combo installer:
About the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update
Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update for PPC
Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update for Intel
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
Troubleshooting installation and software updates
Installing software updates
Note that Apple doesn’t mention anywhere the need to repair permissions either before or after installing a system update, not even for troubleshooting system update issues. It’s the disk itself (i.e. the filesystem) that should be verified/repaired before installing anything. Note also that no applications should be running while installing the update and that you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed. -

How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
I understand you are unable to install the HP Support Assistant. If there is a previous installation of the HP Support Assistant did you try uninstalling it first?
Have you tried installing it in Safe Mode? Entering Safe Mode (Windows 7)
Have you checked for viruses or malware?
You can try this as it will scan for corrupted files and try to repair them.
Go to the command prompt and right click and run as administrator
Type sfc /scannow and press enter.
Wait for this to complete.
Now retry the installation.
Have you made any changes to your notebook?
If the issue still remains I suggest you do a recovery back to factory.
Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7)
During the recovery you will notice an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss. If you have not done one yet, now is a good time.

Preference folder/No such file or Directory
Hello knowledgeable ones!
So I'm using single user mode to move/delete my preference folder in hopes that it will recreate itself and upon start up, get past the grey screen of despair.
I tried what it says on the Apple.com site about renaming/moving preferences and the iMac only responds "no such file or directory". Possibly because I don't remember what I did for the short name on my account? I don't know 100% which exact version of OS it is either.. This is because I've only had the computer six days, it was the family computer my younger brother mainly used but he passed away 4/nearly 5 months ago now, and my dad asked me to take it on my birthday, kinda TMI I guess but it does sound stupid that I don't know. My dad's computer is close to same/or maybe it is the same as this one, so this computer may have 10.58 like his, my dad however much he's infatuated with Mac products knows next to nothing about them.
The endless grey screen started after I installed avast! because dumbly I thought I'd check for viruses since I hadn't used this computer in ages (I've been working with an outdated snail-speed PC since I moved out of my parent's house). avast! told me something within my preferences was corrupted something like media_preference and I assumed after deleting it, it would remake it on start-up anyway and avast! gave no other option and refused to quit..
Sooo I have an idea of what's wrong but not what to do?
I have an install disc that may not be the correct one. The iMac won't boot it on start-up from 'c' or 'option' and the disc is Tiger v. 10.48 but this computer has been upgraded before maybe, it is 10.58 now? I have nothing but the keyboard plugged in, I've tried many times doing safe mode start-up with 'shift' 'command 'v' and it says generating crash report and something with the computers name and error with loginwindow. My account is the admin, and my brother's doesn't have admin rights and it doesn't automatically log you in on start-up if that makes a difference?
Is there a way to clear a cache of some kind to make stuff work? I tried making a new user in single user mode to log-in or maybe that will recreate the deleted preference, honestly maybe I'm not doing it right? I haven't made much progress in single user mode. I don't think my dad has a firewire cable and I know I don't, I read that maybe we could hook them up to restore stuff though I have no idea how and he doesn't actually know the computer isn't working since it was my brother's, I feel incredibly bad and am very reluctant to tell him.
How do I get past this grey screen + spinning wheel? Sorry this was long! Thank you for reading!My preferred scheme is : save on the machine in a defined folder.
Attach a folder actions script to this folder to copy every new or modified document on the server.
The backup tool installed on the server will be of absolutely no help.
If the document is corrupted, it's during the save process so the tool will backup a corrupted file.
I assume that the described problem is not linked to the folder where you try to save the beast but to the folder in which document's components are stored before it's converted to a package or to a flat file.
