Crystal 7 to crystal 10 conversion

I currently have 20 or more Crystal 7 reports that have both .rpt and .qry files.  When I attempt to open these in Crystal X I am warned that the Query file is no longer supported.  I create a command in the Database and add it to the report.  As soon as I try to remove the old Query, Crystal X dies.  Is there a better way of doing this?

Hi Guna
When you create a Data Foundation, you need to specify your data source,
whether it be one or more Data Connections or one or more Dynamic Data
Connections. You can have any number or combination of Data Connections
and Dynamic Data Connections for your Data Foundation.
Data Foundations are flexible as they contain the physical database
properties for tables and fields. Using Data Foundations, you can link different
data tables. You can also insert additional data tables, and create formulas,
SQL expressions, filters, parameters, and custom functions. In addition, you
can set specific rights on all of these objects for your users and groups.
When you create a new Data Foundation, you first need to specify the tables
you want to use (tables which are taken from the data source specified by a
Data Connection or a Dynamic Data Connection). After you create the Data
Foundation, you can link different tables. You can insert additional tables,
formulas, SQL expressions, filters, parameters, and custom functions to your
Data Foundation.
You can build multiple Business Views from a single Data Foundation.  At the same time you may also create a separate Data Foundation for each distinct Business View.  Make a choice based on what suits your requirement best.
Hope this information is useful to you.
Regards
Girish.

  • Crystal Data Conversion Issue (Error converting data type varchar to datetime)

    Hi,
I can run stored procedure without error in SQL Server using my personal credentials as well as database credentials.
I can also run Crystal Report after connecting to Stored procedure without error on my desktop using my personal credentials as well as database credentials.
But when I upload the crystal report in BOBJDEV and when I run using database credentials report fails saying that "Error in File ~tmp1d1480b8e70fd90.rpt: Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters. Details: [Database Vendor Code: 18456 ]" but I can run the crystal report successfully on BOBJDEV using my personal credentials.
I googled (Data Conversion Error Message) about this issue & lot of people asked to do "Verify Database" in Crystal Report. So I did that, but when I do it I am getting a error message like this:
Error converting data type varchar to datetime.
Where do you think the error might be occurring? Did anyone faced this kind of issue before? If so, how to resolve it?
(FYI, I am using Crystal Reports 2008, & for stored procedure I have used SSMS 2012 )
Please help me with this issue.
    Thanks & Regards.
    Naveen.

    hello Naveen,
since the report works fine in the cr designer / desktop, we need to figure out where you should post this question.
by bobjdev do you mean businessobjects enterprise or crystal reports server? if so please post this question to the bi platform space.

  • Crystal 10 to Crystal 2008 Conversion

    Hi,
We are currently using Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10. The current database used is Microsoft SQL 2005.
We are planning to upgrade to the latest version of Crystal, which I assume is Crystal 2008. And also the database is going to be upgraded to Microsoft SQL 2008. All the Crystal Reports use Stored Procedures for getting the data.
Please let me know if this will be smooth conversion from Crystal 10 to Crystal 2008, or will it require redesigning all reports.

Edited by: ZARFAT on Jan 17, 2011 5:32 PM

    Hi Zareen,
The best way we found to upgrade the objects into Enterprise 2008 was to do a restore into it.  I recommend making sure you have installed the latest updates for Enterprise 2008 because we ran into some issues with rescheduling and using variables in Crosstabs.
These were issues with Enterprise and not the reports as we found out.  The reports ran fine in Crystal without needing to update them.  Once the updates were installed the reports were fine.
We found two things we didn't track down but the worked themselves out.  Some reports scheduled to be exported to Excel actually came out in Crystal Reports formats even though they had the Excel icon beside them.  Not sure why but we just recheduled them and they were fine.
The second issue we ran into was reports disconnected from the schedule.  This was our problem because it looks like the custom calendars we have didn't all get imported.  It was with the reports associated with 2 calendars that had problems.  So it wasn't a huge deal for us.
I haven't used APOS so I can't comment on that.
Good luck.  I'm about to go through another upgrade in the next couple of months so it should be interesting here.

  • Crystal 8.5 to Crystal XI conversion question

Trying to convert report from Crystal 8.5 to XI. Report uses ttx file field deffinition and I pass recordset to reports/subreports.
To convert from 8.5 I opened report in version XI, selected :Verify Database" and saved report in a new XI environment.
In 8.5 version you could define field name in ttx file as a placeholder for ADO recordset column.
    I have ttx file:
    Field1 Number
    Field2 Number
For version XI running repoprt I do not see result of my recordset on the report unless I specifically name columns in my recordset as Field1 and Field2. In Crystal 8.5 as long as my recordset contains two number columns, I was fine. Name of the recordset column did not had to match name for the ttx column in Crystal 8.5.
In order to conver from 8.5 to XI p680567

  • Exsisting Crystal Reports conversion to Business Objects reports

    hi,
can existing crystal reports can be converted to Business Objects reports ( Adhoc, webi, deski types ).
If yes, what versions of CR can be converted to BOBJ reports and what versions could not be.
Where woud I go to get the information and procedure to get this done.
Your help is deeply appreicated. Thanks.

    Hi Venkat,
Unfortunately there is no direct method or tool which can convert the existing Crystal reports to WEBI or DESKI. The best way to go about converting the reports would be to re-create the reports in the required reporting tool.
All these three reporting softwares are different in working and are designed to suit different reporting needs. So based on the requirements, you can select the tool which best suits your requirement.
I hope this helps in answering your question.

  • Conversion from VS2003 to VS2005 Crystal Report View is not compatible

I am trying to migrate an application from VS2003 to VS2005.  I am trying to run it locally, using the localhost method.  I am getting a parser error: The base class includes the field u2018CrystalReportViewer1u2019 but itu2019s type (CrystalDecisionsWeb.CrystalReportViewer) is not compatible with the type of control (CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportViewer)
I have a tried a number of solutions, including removing and then readding Crystal Report references (picking the 10.2.3600 ones).
I also created a websetup project, trying either the windows installer and the merge modules.  Those both gave me the error "The setup requires Internet Information Server 4.0 or higher and Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 or higher.  This setup cannot be installe don Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows ME.  Please install Internet Information Server and run this setup again." so I guess I don't understand how localhost works, but I know it's not a true web server.
    I also followed a post to delete the assembly information that was in my web.config, which was      <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=9.1.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/><add assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, Version=9.1.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/><add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=9.1.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/><add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=9.1.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
and expected it to be readded when I re-added my references and rebuilt but there is now just an empty <assemblies></assemblies> tag.
Note that I have VS2003, VS2005 and VS2008 all installed on my computer as we have application in various stages of conversions.  I think I just downloaded SP1 for Crystal Reports for VS2005 but it doesn't specify when I do Help-About in VS so maybe I didn't.
I have spent so many countless hours and only just found this forum buried under the rather confusing SAP website.
Thank you SO much for any help,
    Penny

removing all of the references and adding the 10.2 references is a good start.  the problem is most likely that you still have a 9.1.5000 reference to CrystalDecisions.Web in the HTML source of your web form with a viewer control on it.  Easiest way to upgrade that is to delete the viewer control and drag a new one on from the toolbox.  the drag and drop of the viewer control is what will populate your "add assembly" tags.

  • ALPHA conversion error in Crystal and MDXTEST

    Hello Experts,
I've a BW query which is running fine without errors But when a cross tab report is created in Crystal, we get the below error upon execution:
"Characteristic value xxx of Characteristic ZXX is not ALPHA converted"
The same error when run in MDXTEST.
The InfoObject ZPRFTCTR and all its nav attribs has got ALPHA conversion enabled. Also, I am doing alpha conv in my expert routine of this infoobject.
    RSRV checks show no errors.
No error while accessing data from cubes in BW.
This error is only in Q and P not in D.
I've re-activated Infoobject and transformation and transported to Q then reloaded the master data but still the same error.
Have you guys faced this issue before? What could be causing this error. Please help.

    Hi,
as this error also shows up in transaction MDXTEST it clearly indicates that the issue is already happening in the BW stack without the involvement from the SAP BusinessObjects tools.
I would suggest you post your question into the SAP BW Forum.
    regards

  • Crystal Reports To Oracle Conversion

Has anyone gone through a Crystal Reports to Oracle Reports conversion? It appears from my limited review of what is available in Oracle Reports that Crystal offers alot more flexibility in how reports and charts can be formatted and displayed, and it also seems to be easier to retrieve/manipulate data as well. If anyone has any insights as to pros/cons of Oracle Reports vs Crystal, please post them.

  • Use of layout when more than one parameter - Error Missing Parameter Values

    Hi,
Is it possible to use a crystal report which has more than one parameter as the layout for the bill of materials report.
    I have 3 parameters
           1. DocKey@       The Bill of Materials to be printed
           2. Number of levels to be printed
           3. type of levels to print.
When I try to print it gives me the error Missing Parameter Values.
I have tried changing the DocKey@ to CodeKey@ but the same error.
Does anyone now where to find a list of these tokens?
    Thanks
    Chris

I looked at the crystal report conversion to try to find what parameters it used and found none.
I have managed to create and use a crystal report to replace the production order using DocKey@ as the parameter.  This works within SAP.  However I have converted the system production order to crystal reports and from the converted report I cannot see any parameters at all.
How and where can you find out what paramters you need to use to replace any PLD report?  Several reports have multiple selection criteria before the report prints.  How can you find out what their tokens are called?  I am starting to pull my hair out.  I am getting great help from this forum, but do you know any documentation which actually explains this area.
    Thanks
    Chris

  • BT Infinity - Varying speeds and latency issues

    Hi,
I have had BT Infinity 80MB since around May 2014 upgrading from my existing BT ADSL connection. I work from home and use VOIP via a softphone on my laptop. When I used ADSL I experienced no isses with jitter or latency and I could hold a crystal clear conversation. Since 'upgrading' to BT Infinity I am no longer able to sustain a clear VOIP call, voice is choppy. This is due to ping response times going through the roof. I set a continous ping to www.bbc.co.uk, every 30 seconds or so the ping response time/latency goes through the roof rendering the VOIP call unbearable (see below).
This isn't an issue with my laptop as I can use other wireless networks with no issues and I have tried whilst directly plugged in to my router. The router I have is a HUB 5, I have factory defaulted it but this is an issue with the line.
How can I get in contact with someone from BT to get this resolved? Everytime I go through the online help it never detects an issue with latency or speed. I have also tried the BT Wholesale test. I am currently getting 20MB....

Some of those ping responses are well out of range. One of the Moderators (who work for BT) should look at this.
Unfortunately a lot of people are / or have been experiencing such issues with the Infinity product (especially over the last month or so). Personally I believe there is either something fundamentally wrong in the BTWholesale backhaul, or that many exchanges are simply oversubscribed. Unfortunately technical analysis is rarely forthcoming on this site.
The first thing to eliminate is a problem with your line.
Try a quiet line test - details here http://support.zen.co.uk/kb/Knowledgebase/Performing-a-Quiet-Line-Test
if there is any noise the best advice seems tobe  report it as a telephone fault rather than a broadband issue.
Other tests - if you have a Homehub 5 you might want to post the first 12 lines of your Stats (this will alert many of out-of-range line statistics).
I would let other posters pick up the thread at this point.
But if you're like me your line will be fine and the BTWholesale test will be fine but the problem wil persist

  • Dunning Letter as Crystal Report: What tables? (SAP B1 9.0)

    Dear Experts,
I am being asked to revise the Dunning Letters for our clients.  The existing PLDs for each Dunning Letter shows most data fields as system variables.  The existing Crystal Report for Dunning Letter 1 is a conversion from the PLD and doesn't show table information for most of the report's main items.  There are tables in the report but they are standard ones (OADM, OADP, OCRD, OHEM, OSLP).  It also includes a "table" called "PLD__ITEMS" which has all the PLD system variables and no B1 table or field/column information.
As I'm just now starting to work with dunning letters, I see that I can't even run this report in Crystal.  The PLD__Items datasource prompts me for a file path and class name.  Any ideas what one enters here to run the report outside of B1 (from the Crystal report designer)?
The main focus of my question is: Has anyone created a Crystal Report to replicate the Dunning Letter and if so, what tables are involved and how are they connected?  If I can create a Dunning Letter entirely in Crystal, I can replicate it across all clients and get the correct fields/columns of data the clients want.  The inclusion of the PLD__Items apparently limits my ability to test the results.  I would prefer to avoid the PLD limitations.
    Thanks for any assistance.

Thank you Nagarajan.  I have a dunning letter created in Crystal Reports for our client.  It is fairly limited in scope, it just has the customer name and address, invoice numbers and dates, amounts due and the text they wanted in it.
I can import it into B1 9.0 and set it as the default for Dunning Letter #1 and it runs, but unlike other formats where there is a DocEntry and/or ObjectID and a ?DocKey@ or ?ObjectId@ parameter, how do I limit the report to just one customer?  Typical document layouts run for the document that's on the screen.  In the dunning process, the report runs once for every customer when the Dunning Letter Method is set to "One Letter per BP".  I have to limit the report to one customer at a time.  Right now, each dunning letter based on the Crystal report is identical and it contains all the data for every customer.
So, does anyone have any ideas for what selection criteria needs to be included in the Crystal report to have it select just one customer from the dunning wizard tables?  Thanks.
    Michael
Edit: I created a ?WizardID@ parameter and a ?CardCode@ parameter to limit the report to a single dunning wizard event and a single customer.  While it works fine in Crystal itself, it doesn't work in B1 at all.  I had thought that by limiting the report in this way, it would only create dunning letters for a single customer.
