Crystal parameter starts with x

Hello,
I have a report which is using multiple parameters, and 2 of them start with 'x': xReportType and xxxxxroundingxx.
I can't find a formula where these parameters are used, but the have a green check next to them and I can't delete them.
How can I run a report with all report subjects listed on the first page to see where those parameters are used?
Please advise.

You can try this: Right click on the parameter in the Field Explorer and select Find Field in Formulas. This will show you all formulas that contain the field, which then can be selected and edited (if needed). Unfortunately, this will not show usage such as SQL Command or Stored Procedure parameters, or if they are used as parameters to subreports, so you'll have to check those things manually.

Crystal XI Starting with a page other than "1"

I have a crystal report that contains 2 subreports. I have set it up to number pages "N of M" using the page number special field. I would like to keep this same format, but I would like the page number to start at "13".

Hello Megan,
Go into the section expert for the group that you want to base the page count on and enable reset page number after for the group footer. It would also be a good idea to enable new page after conditionally based on not(OnLastRecord) if you haven't already.
As well it may be easier to place the formula in the Group header and in the group expert > options > options tab enable repeat group header on each page rather than have the formula in a Page Header.

Storedprocedure Parameter starting with @

Hi,
I need to call a stored procedure on a MS SQL database. Here parameters are denoted with a prefix of @. That leaves me with a structure for the JDBC adapter like:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Statement>
 <storedProcedureName action="EXECUTE">
 <table>spVMPGetimportID</table>
 <@ImportId>1000</@ImportId>
 </storedProcedureName>
</Statement>
This is No good, since it's invalid with @ in the start of a tag.
Any ideas?

In this situation,a work around i see is to use action = "SQL_QUERY" or "SQL_DML" and to use a UDF to generate the whole SQL statement and pass it...
The receiver data structure wud be

Starts With Parameter for Last Name for Created By serach criteria F4

Hi,
I have a requirement, where I need to add a seach parameter "Starts With" in backend for the last/first name of the Created by serach criteria F4 in lead search.
But I am seeing for the CREATED_BY criteria the F4 automatically comes from standard and there is no view exist for the F4 in backend.This seems to come from the domain level! Can anyone help how to achieve this?

Hello Raj,
In lead search, we have a criteria for Created_by. Now when user uses the F4 of the Created_by, there are option for first name and last name to search the user names.
Now when user uses any name(1st or last), the result shows as 1 result found, but actually now result comes.
hence now they are asking me to add a parameter as starts with for the 1st name and last name of the created_by F4 window search criteria.
Hope this explanation will be clear for you. If possible please help.
Actually the F4 of the Created_by comes from the standard, and there is no component/view available in CRM.

I am assuming that u r going to develop reports off SAP datasource.For that purpose, You need to install Crystal Reports 2008 sp1/2 and SAP soluton KIt.

OLEDB parameter names starting with an @ sign

Hi guys,
I am using ORACLE.OleDB provider from .Net to execute parameterized queries for example
select * form :1;
What I want to achieve is to name my parameters to start with an @ sign for example:
select * from :@1;
I know that there must be a way since the following:
select * from "@tablename"; works just fine.
does anybody know how to do that ?
In case you wander why do I need this, I need it because I am using a SQL Factory which has generic methods and I support both SQL Server and Oracle so I want to be able to do:
cmd.parameters["@param"].Value = "somevalue";
instead of
if(Oracle)
cmd.parameters["param"].Value = "somevalue";
} else if(SQL Server)
cmd.parameters["@param"].Value = "somevalue";

To answer myself:
I discovered that I can write queries like the following:
SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE TABLE_ID = :TableID
And then in OleDb be able to access the query parameter with "@TableID".
So only the query is different but how I access the parameter is the same in Oracle and in SQL Server which is what I wanted.

Are there any tutorials or documentation that shows how to work with excel-files as data source or how to upload Crystal reports files (.rpt) to the Explorer?

As far as I know the SAP BUsiness Explorer car retrieve data either from a universe or from the SAP BWA. So hat you should be looking for is information on how to set Excel files as data sources for universes.

Start with Connect by: Showing the whole hierarchy even if child parameter

In our case the manager_id i= employee_id for the top level manager. So when I run the sql, it eliminates the top level manager and shows the output for the next level onwards.
For the regular start with connect by option on the employee table the query used is
select case when connect_by_isleaf = 1 then 0 when level = 1 then 1 else -1 end as status,
       level,
       First_name as title,
       NULL as icon,
       EMPloyee_id as value,
       First_name as tooltip,
       NULL as link
from EMPLOYEES
start with Manager_id is null
connect by prior EMPLOYEE_ID = Manager_id
order siblings by First_namenow this will show the hierarchy and level starting with managers. Now if we provide the "start with Manager_id = 171" then since 171 is not a manager no rows are returned. So for this we can use something like
start with manager_id =171 or employee_id = 171However, the output would be only the employee record since 171 is the last child.
The requirement we had was that, Irrespective of the value entered, whether ultimate parent or ultimate child the output should still show the top down hierarchy. starting with that persons ultimate manager.
So for example if there are two employees, 170 and 171 and 170 is the manager of 171
If in this query I use Start with manager = 170. It will show me the manager and the child records.
However, if I use start with manager = 171 or employee_id = 171 then it will only show me only the child record. I want it to show me both the manager and employee records. i.e all the levels

I was using this query and the output is correct. Except for one thing, the nature of our data is such that the top most manager in this case has "Manager_Id" as null so we can use "start with Manager is null"
But in our case the manager id for the top most manager is the same as his employee id.
So If I modify the query, it then does not show the "top most managers record"

Just a short explanation about that complicated query to remember IMHO:
SQL> select count(*) from v$spparameter where isspecified='TRUE';

ORACLE instance started.

That basically remains the same as I explained earlier, nothing is retained when you start the db with a pfile.

DateTime parameter issue with Stored Procedure CR XI

Hello everyone.
This error was touched on here previously but no answer provided.
I am using Crystal Reports XI with SAP's BUSINESS ONE product. I have a report using a SQL Stored Procedure (SQL 2005). It has datetime parameters.
The Stored Procedure (SP) works fine when executed from within the Management studio. I then created my report, connecting to the SP with an ODBC driver and all was great.
But the add on being used for the report to be included in B1 requires OLE connectivity. No problem, all my reports (none of the others have SP's though), work fine with OLE.
So I tried redirecting the report to use the OLE driver. But I get an error.
I tried creating a new report with the SP using the OLE driver. Same message.
I get the following:
Query Engine Error: 'ADO Error Code: 0x80040e14
Source: Microsoft SQL Native Client
Description: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'CONVERT'.
SQL State: 42000
Native Error: 156'
My code does not include the word CONVERT anywhere.
From what I can find on the web, this is supposedly an issue with the datetime parameter. But despite a few people posting messages about this, I have yet to find the answer. None of the topics have had a reply that provides the fix.
It seems to be something specific to OLE, since it works fine in ODBC. I am using SQL NATIVE CLIENT.

One of my colleagues actually suggested a similar thing. He pointed out I should be using the MICROSOFT OLE DB PROVIDER FOR SQL SERVER (I had been doing so but somewhere along the line started using the Native driver).

Crystal XI issues with DST

we are using Crystal XI R2 with a core product of VB6 and supporting products OF DOT NET, with a backend of SQL 2005 and 2008
Since the DST changes last week (Nov 5th) there are reports which are showing date as one day less.
the dates are fetched from the server as MM/DD/YYYY 00:00:00:000, for the perriod before DST kicked in the dates are correct, howwvere the dates after DST started the dates are displayed one day less.
we are not using any formula's, these are dates directly from a recordset. as a workaround we added i hour to the time and it is working fine.
But the question is how do we either disable the DST or correct this problem. adding 1 hour will be a huge task for us as we have more than 1000 reports.

Make sure you are on the final service pack and fixpack (sp6 and I am not sure what the final fixpack was) and test.
Other than that you will have to make any changes yourself as that product is no longer supported.

Adding dynamic 'start with' clause in Hierarchial query in Discoverer 4i

I have created a custom folder based upon the following hierarchial guery:
SELECT supervisor_name, level
FROM xxhr084_hr_emps_v
START WITH supervisor_name = 'TEST SUPER'
CONNECT BY prior person_id = supervisor_id
ORDER SIBLINGS by supervisor_name
I want the 'START WITH' value to be based upon a parameter i.e. the User enters the value of supervisor name at runtime.
However, I can't use a parameter within the custom folder and I can't generate the 'start with' condition in my workbook.
Anyone have a solution for populating the start with clause at run-time?

Can you create the custom folder without a condition on supervisor_name - i.e. without the supervisor_name = 'X' starts with clause - in the EUL, and then define the condition on the supervisor_name field within the report?
SELECT supervisor_name, level
FROM xxhr084_hr_emps_v
CONNECT BY prior person_id = supervisor_id
ORDER SIBLINGS by supervisor_name
You can then restrict the results that the hierarchical query returns (from the custom folder) within the report, by adding a condition on supervisor_name.
