hello
i am using oracle 11g /crystal reports 10 version
i have the following tables
users
=======
user_id number
username varchar2
orders
========
order_id number
user_id number
order_date date
select u.username,o.order_id,o.order_date
from orders o,users u
where o.user_id=u.user_id and order_date between '11-MAY-2011' and '30-MAY-2011'
i have the three columns in my crystal report and users will be prompted to enter date range they need to generate the report
when they do
it has to calculte the following
username,week_1_orders,week_2 orders,rest_orders
week_1_orders=first 7 days orders(in the above example ,its 11,12,13,14,15,16,17 of may 2011 total orders)
week2_2_orders=8-14 days of orders (in the above example ,18,19,20,21,22,23,24 of may 2011)
week_3_orders=rest of the date range
how do i get these summaries
any help is appreciated
thanks

Hello,
You can compare date field against your date parameter. So, it is OrderDate.
Also you can get summaries for your amounts by following same formula which was suggested by Lan
Also you can follow below formula to calculate summary on amount .
@Week1_Amt
if {Sheet1_.OrderDate} >= {?Startdate} and {Sheet1_.OrderDate} <={?Startdate}+7 then
else 0
Now insert a summary on this formula.
Thanks,
Sastry

• Crystal Reports Group Summaries

I've been away from CR for a while and need some help with a report. The database I'm reporting from has many tables and the ones I'm using are:
Workorders
Activity Detail
Activity Master
Labor Details
Parts
The report is based on a given Workorder with all the activity listed in ascending order (group #1) reporting subsequent activity information all of which is reporting correctly. I now need to pull from the Labor table listing the activity's total hours and amount, total parts cost, total contract labor hours and amount, total of all costs per activity (group subtotals). Then at the end of the entire report a totals of all hours, amount, part costs, contract hours, contract amount, grand total of all costs.
I was thinking I'd need to do a group subreport, but can't get it to work. Thank you in advance for your help.

did you try inserting the summary in a specific group footer?

• Using Crystal Reports XI, Version 11.0.0.1994, "This field cannot be summarized." Message

Post Author: Caroline Richards
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
I am currently working on a revenue report that has details with groupings for account, rate codes, and categories of rate codes.
Revenue for each account can be adjusted, and the adjustment is linked to the original revenue amount by an Accounts Receivable Transaction Number. The correct summary for higher groupings are affected when an adjustment is made to the same revenue amount (same AR Transaction Number) more than once. I have been able to calculate the correct revenue amount in a formula, leaving out the duplicated revenue when there's more than one adjustment on the revenue; however, when I try to summarize the calculated revenue amount in any way, I get a message stating: "This field cannot be summarized."
Is there a way around this so that I can use the calculated amount? Will an array work?

Post Author: SKodidine
CA Forum: Formula
In CR, you cannot summarize on a summary field. Since the formula already has a summary function in it, you will not be able to summarize on the formula field.
Workaround would be to calculate summaries using a running total or another formula and thus avoid the summary using summary situation.

• Crystal Reports Group-by-Summarized Data on SAP-BW

Hi experts
I am facing some strange problem while building report aginst SAP-BW
I have two groups of data set in crystal Reports

2nd Group is on Cost Element(under business Area)
and (YTD- Amount) Across Business Area and Cost Element.
Problem: I am unable to get correct summarized amount for business area.(which should be sum of all cost elements under specific business area)
PS: I have done hireachial grouping as mentioned for SAP-BW practise.
And also tried to apply all summarized formulas with no result.
But iam unable to trace why it is happening.

you are on right derection but i cannot find the solution from this formula because i already try this technique. but now i
found the result by own: the exact result of my proble is this:
dateVar myDate := cdate(#01/31/2010#); //replace with your date field
numberVar DayNum := Day(myDate);
numberVar Week1Saturday := (7 - DayofWeek(Date(Year(myDate), Month(myDate), 1))) + 1;
stringVar WeekNum;
if DayNum IN [1 to Week1Saturday] then
WeekNum := "1"
else if DayNum IN [(Week1Saturday + 1) to (Week1Saturday + 7)] then
WeekNum := "2"
else if DayNum IN [(Week1Saturday + 8) to (Week1Saturday + 14)] then
WeekNum := "3"
else if DayNum IN [(Week1Saturday + 15) to (Week1Saturday + 21)] then

• Changed number format in vs 2008 versus crystal report format

I am using Crystal report designer 11.0.0.1.282 and I am able to see the numbers in the format I want . example is the year 2012,2013, etc.
I don't want any decimal point to be applied to this like 2013.00 because it is just the year and it should be 2013. when I ran the report in preview inside the designer , everything looks fine. but when I ran the report from our client application, the year format comes as 2013.00
In the Crystal report designer, I have checked the File menu /Options , when the Options dialog that opens up , I have selected Fields tab and have chosen the Number field and have selected the Style for the numbers through all the report to be -1123
the report used to show up with correct format up until a couple of weeks ago, so I am not sure what may have caused this. I was hoping there might be a solution to this.
I have attached how the year shows in the chart legend both in designer and from our client application (VS2008)
greatly appreciate any help and if you could point me to right direction

Your System properties may have changed. If the field is set to system it will use what ever your defualt system is set to. Change the field to use format:

• Problem installing Crystal Reports 2013 on a Windows 2012 R2 server

Sheesh. One of my users needs crystal reports and still uses it weekly. It's time to update off of an old 2003 server so I setup a new Windows 2012 R2 server so that she and others can RDP into it and use the application and reports (it's a payroll thing so they want limited access).
So - totally plain vanilla Windows 2012 R2 install. Then make sure I have all the .net stuff installed in the windows features.
But, whenever I run the setup.exe from the downloaded ZIP file from the sap store I get:
(1) "Assertion failure: A fatal error has occured which has caused the installer to quit. Please gather any %TEMP% and installer logs to present to your support personnel."
(2) Then followed by the message:

I can't find any information on this! I have found a similar message that refers to a 2011 install that was fixed with a SP9? But this machine has no current install. I did buy the full version two days ago online from the sap store.

There is an older C++ library that you need that is not available by default on Win 2012. You can get the install for this here:
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update from Official Microsoft Do…
Also, be sure you're logged in with Administrator rights, the right-click and "Run as Administrator" when you run setup. You might also have to turn off the Windows Firewall when you run the install (you can turn it back on again after the install is complete.)

• Crystal Report Taking too much time to load

Dear Support team,
Every time I open an existing Crystal Report, it is taking me about 5 minutes to load (Even if its a new and Blank report). Also after one report has loaded for the first time, Loading further reports would take the same long time.
Please note that I was not facing this problem earlier (Same Crystal Report version), this issue started occurring after I came back from a leave, and our IT guy have told me that he had uninstalled the Visual Studio in my absence (License issue), and no further relevant changes that he can think of.
Appreciate your help on resolving this issue, I work with a large number of crystal reports on daily basis, and this problem is killing my time.
Thank you for your time and support.
Best Regards,
Saadeddine Nahlous

Hello again,
I just found out more info about this problem that might help us troubleshoot it:
My colleague and I were both using the Old Crystal Report version 10 (Before SAP) till about a month ago. Afterwards, I have installed the new SAP Crystal Reports 2013 Trial version to test it, and i faced no issues there and ordered to purchase the product. One week ago, my company bought for me and my colleague two licenses which arrived in two boxes containing two DVDs and we re installed the software using the DVDs. Since then we BOTH are facing this delay issue when opening any Crystal Report. (The delay is unbearable, it is truly about 3 min without exaggeration).
For the record, we both have high spec PCs.
Appreciate investigating this issue with us please.
Thank you

• Performance Issue Crystal Report and Oracle

Hello,
We have one procedure that takes 3 input parameters and returns Cursor from Procedure that is used to design the report. There is no caluculation involved here and cursor is opended dynamically. We are using Oracle Native connection.
When we click on preview button it takes lots of time ( >10 Mins) to show complete data. While we call the same procedure in application and generate HTML report using Cursor returned it is done in < 15 Seconds. Can some point me where to look into to improve the performance of Crystal Report.
DB: Oracle 10G
CR: Version XI

Hi Vadiraja
The performance of a report is related to:
External factors:
1. The amount of time the database server takes to process the SQL query.
( Crystal Reports send the SQL query to the database, the database process it, and returns the data set to Crystal Reports. )
2. Network traffics.
3. Local computer processor speed.
( When Crystal Reports receives the data set, it generates a temp file to further filter the data when necessary, as well as to group, sort, process formulas, ... )
4. The number of record returned
( If a sql query returns a large number of records, it will take longer to format and display than if was returning a smaller data set.)
Report design:
1. Where is the Record Selection evaluated.
Ensure your Record Selection Formula can be translated in SQL, so the data can be filter down on the server, otherwise the filtering will be done in a temp file on the local machine which will be much slower.
They have many functions that cannot be translated in SQL because they may not have a standard SQL for it.
For example, control structure like IF THEN ELSE cannot be translated into SQL. It will always be evaluated in Crystal Reports. But if you use an IF THEN ELSE on a parameter, it will convert the result of the condition to SQL, but as soon as uses database fileds in the conditions it will not be translated in SQL.
2. How many subreports the report contains and in section section they are located.
Minimise the number of subreports used, or avoid using subreports if possible because
subreports are reports within a report, and if you have a subreport in a details section, and the report returns 100 records, the subreport will be evaluated 100 times, so it will query the database 100 times. It is often the biggest factor why a report takes a long time to preview.
3. How many records will be returned to the report.
Large number of records will slow down the preview of the reports.
Ensure you only returns the necessary data on the report, by creating a Record Selection Formula, or basing your report off a Stored Procedure, or a Command Object that only returns the desired data set.
4. Do you use the special field "Page N of M", or "TotalPageCount"
When the special field "Page N of M" or "TotalPageCount" is used on a report, it will have to generate each page of the report before it displays the first page, therfore it will take more time to display the first page of the report.
If you want to improve the speed of a report, remove the special field "Page N of M" or "Total Page Count" or formula that uses the function "TotalPageCount". If those aren't use when you view a report it only format the page requested.
It won't format the whole report.
5. Link tables on indexed fields whenever possible.
6. Remove unused tables, unused formulas, unused running totals from the report.
7. Suppress unnecessary sections.
8. For summaries, use conditional formulas instead of running totals when possible.
9. Whenever possible, limit records through selection, not suppression.
10. Use SQL expressions to convert fields to be used in record selection instead of using formula functions.
For example, if you need to concatenate 2 fields together, instead of doing it in a formula, you can create a SQL Expression Field. It will concatenate the fields on the database server, instead of doing in Crystal Reports. SQL Expression Fields are added to the SELECT clause of the SQL Query send to the database.
11. Using one command as the datasource can be faster if you returns only the desired data set.
It can be faster if the SQL query written only return the desired data.
12. Perform grouping on server
This is only relevant if you only need to return the summary to your report but not the details. It will be faster as less data will be returned to the reports.

• Crystal report -How to display multiple lines in line chart?

Hi,
M struggling to display multiple lines in line chart. All the values m fetching it from database into data table in below format & data type
Category(String).....year(Int).....graph_values(Int).....table_value(String)
Test.........................2006.......... -100............................(100)
Avg..........................2006..........20................................20
Median......................2006...........5................................5
Test..........................2007...........500.............................500
Avg...........................2007............90..............................90
Median.......................2007............45..............................45
M using cross tab to display data and chart to plot line. Following fields I used in Cross tab Expert & Chart expert
Cross tab expert-
Rows u2013 category
Columns u2013 year
Summarized fields u2013 Min of table_value
In Chart Expert u2013
On Change of - Year
Show values - graph values
In cross tab m able to see the data properly but not in graph.I have three categories. Hence it should plot three lines in line chart but m able to see only one line for test category.
FYI u2013 using VS 2008 and crystal report assembly version 10.5
Urgent. Please reply soon.
Thanks
ThakurS

I got the solution.
In Chart Expert - I should use
On Change of -- Year, Category
Show values -- graph values

• Crystal report takes time to open

I am using Crystal reports 9 in my VB.net application for generating a report.
It causes a delay of around 1 minute for the report to get generated when i try to run it on Win 2k8 server Standard German OS(64 bit). It works fine on xp and even win 2k8 english.
After some analysis, the delay was found to be due to the OpenReport method used to open the report from a specified path. I also tried to place the rpt file directly under C:\, which also caused the same delay.
I am stuck up with this for the past 2 weeks, experts in this field, please suggest a solution.
Thanks in Advance:)

Hello,
First CR 9 is not supported on that OS. CR XI R2 with Service Pack 6 and CR 2008 Service Pack 2 are supported.
Second which report engine are you using, RDC or .NET?
Thank you

• Crystal Reports XI R2 SP 6 - Issue with setting Data Source Location

Hello,
After some initial difficulty instally CR XI R2 with SP 6 on a windows XP machine (see thread Error on installation of CR XI R2 SP6), the Crystal Reports environment seemed fine, however, when I tried resetting the datasource location on an ODBC datasource between a development and production server, I get the message 'Some Tables could not be replaced as no match was found....' The tables in the two databases are identical so that isn't the issue.
Here is some additional information
The issue seems related only to DSN's that point to a progress database. I am able to reset datasource locations for DSN's that use the SQL server driver and also for those that use the XML CR ODBC XML Driver 5.0. I am not able to reset the datasource locations on the DSN's that use a Progress Open Edge 10.1 DB driver.
I can create a new report using the DSN for the Progress Driver and add tables, but the table names are coming up as an alias - i.e. if I add a table called PM_Plant, the table added to the report is PM_Plant1.
I also found I can go into existing reports, rename the tables in the database expert to be an alias (appending 1 to the end of the table name), then I am able to repoint them using the datasource location screen.
So it looks like there is a potential work around to the situation, but I didn't run across any information that we should need to do that.
Any recommendations how to fix the issue?
Thanks,

Hi Don,
The reports were created with CR XI R1 on my PC initially and the progress drivers have not changed since. The reports were deployed to a server and I pulled them back to my PC to test out any changes after the CR XI R2 SP 6 upgrade. (so there is really only one machine involved, the one that had the upgrade).
I did look at the settings for verifying and tried playing around with those and also with verifying the database but that didn't make any difference.
I wasn't quite sure which registry keys to look at or what the values should be so wasn't able to pursue that option.
All the tables in the progress database use underscores as part of the table name (i.e. PM_Plant, PM_Company), do you think the upgrade to SP6 means that the underscore is now a reserved character and that is why the tables are getting aliased? If so, do you know how to change the alias settings or the list of characters that are reserved?
Just an FYI, I had to downgrade back to CR XI R1 at this point to get work done. If time allows, I'll retry the upgrade in about 5-7 weeks. I discussed the issue with a system admininstrator and we willl try removing the progress drivers and DSN's prior to trying an upgrade again to see if that makes a difference. I'll also make sure to keep track of all Report Options and Options and also registry keys to see what changes.
Thanks

• Access DB (& .ldb file) does not close after crystal reports

Post Author: mgold
CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Access DB (& .ldb file) does not close after crystal reports
Hi! We have a VB application using Crystal Reports 6 that has worked successfully on hundreds of systems for over 10 years. Now, on one network, the application and access database does not close. It seems to hang on the [.Close] command.
When we open the application an peruse the screens without opening up a report (using crystal reports), the application and access db closes fine. But as soon as we run a report and then close the report and try to close the application, the access db does not close. Many of the screens open the db and grab data from the access db, but it's only after running crystal reports that we have this problem. (Please see more information below.)
Setup: Application and data (access 97 db) reside on a server in the same folder, but application shortcut is kicked off on client PC. Kicking off the shortcut on the client PC means that the image/process runs on the client PC (not on the server). In this problem case, the application shortcut is on a Windows XP Pro Version 2002 SP2 PC with the app & data on a Windows 2003 server. Users are local Admins on their PCs with "Full Control"over the directory and files on the server where the data (access 97 db) resides. This type of setup is typical and has worked without any problems for clients.
The application is written in Visual Basic, using Crystal Reports 6 (using DAO). We close the recordset, set it to zero and then it hangs on closing the db (.Close command).
A few key pieces of information:
- The application closes fine if the app & data (access 97 db) are on a local PC. This includes closing fine if the application is run directly on the Windows 2003 server where the data is stored.
- It worked on this client's network until sometime in the last few weeks.
- One thing that changed is that the company is using VMWare on its servers. Not sure if they started using VMWare at the same time as it started failing. This may be unrelated. Possibly other things changed, but can't get any more information ... yet.
- It works fine running the application from a Windows Vista PC with a user who is a domain admin.
- The access db and application hang for about 10-20 minutes and then eventually closes. It appears that somehow
Crystal Reports is keeping the db open, but I'm not sure why.The application doesn't quit and the database doesn't close even if I try to end the task with the Task Manager.
- The Crystl32.ocx version being used is 8.0.0.4 (if that matters).
- I copied 6 month old program files and database files to a test folder on the Windows 2003 server. It fails using these files that worked fine 6 months ago.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated! If you know of another good place to post this, please let me know.
Thanks!
- Mark

Crystal doesn't support tables in HTML interpretation.
You can probably work your way around this by doing Replace() calls on the relevant tags.
See:

• Without Crystal Report on SAP Form yet

Hi experts!
I follow this thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/3500063 I wonder if someone has solved this issue I've tried many different ways without success.
Summarizing: When you try to assign a report document or a CRAXDDRT Report to a crystal report viewer on a SAP B1 form like is showed below you get an exception "Specified cast not available"
' on Next line exception raised "Specified cast not available"
RepViewer.ReportSource = cryRpt
I also tryed to create a crystal decisions windows form crystal report viewer, get the report source an assign it to the report viewer but I get the same error (oRpt is a report document which is loaded previously)
Dim oCRForm As New CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer
oCRForm.ReportSource = oRpt
RepViewer.ReportSource = oCRForm.ReportSource
If I set the path directly I get the same error
Dim sRptPath As String
sRptPath = Windows.Forms.Application.StartupPath() + "\Report.rpt"
RepViewer.ReportSource = sRptPath
I'm using CrystalActiveXReportViewerLib14.CrystalActiveXReportViewer, VS2010, VB, Windows 8 Pro
Is there another way to show it on a SAP B1 form ?
Best regards.

Wow. You're mixing a number of technologies and terms, none of which really make much sense:
1) CRXDDRT is not used in an .NET apps anymore and you would not be licensed to use it anyhow.
2) You are not licensed to use the CrystalActiveXReportViewerLib14.CrystalActiveXReportViewer.
3) You are using the Crystal Reports Assemblies for .NET (not craxddrt...).
4) You are using Crystal Reports for B1.
To use CR in a .NET application, you must use the CR viewer for .NET. Any additional queries should be posted to the SAP B1 forum:

We have a problem with printing crystal report over web using ActiveX Control. When clicking print button, it only shows a blank dialog web crystal viewer page without any error. The page just simply hangs. We installed the PrintControl DLL and enable all the security setting for ActiveX Control for IE. It still does not print. Does anyone know why?
Environment.
Bundle Crystal Report v10
Asp.net 2.0
IE 6.0 or higher.
Appreciate for your help.

A team member here found this, I haven't read it, I'm not sure if our problems are related to this, but hopefully it helps someone:

When Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is enabled, using the ActiveX control to print reports from a Crystal 10 DHTML viewer results in the following error message:
"A communication error occurred, printing will be stopped."
How can this error message be resolved?
Resolution
This is a known issue with Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10 viewers and has been tracked. The Track ID is ADAPT00282199.
This error occurs due to the receiving application performing a case-sensitive check for the HTTPS request header value "ON". When a sender application sends the value as "on" in lower case, the error occurs. The update below changes the receiving application to be case-insensitive.
Hot Fixes or Service Packs address this issue as indicated below. With the updates, this issue is resolved.
Unless indicated otherwise, Weekly Hot Fix updates from our FTP site have only been tested with English versions of products.
For Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10, the update for this issue is included in the Crystal 10 Viewers Weekly Hot Fix (WHF). This is available in English only at the following location:
ftp://ftp.crystaldecisions.com/outgoing/EHF/viewers10win_en.zip
This issue is addressed in the following components (and later versions):
PageObjectModel.dll, version 10.0.5.785, dated 8/25/2004
ReportRenderer.dll, version 10.0.5.785, dated 8/25/2004
