Crystal Report XI create Gannt chart by quarter or display x axis quarters

Hello all, I have just about given up on this one.  I thought it would be simple.
I have a database that i need to report on by quarter.  It has a project name and implementation date.  All I need to do is display the project name and the date in will implement.  I have this part working. I need to convert the x axis to display by quarter instead of month year.  Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Mike

it seems to me that you would have to probably create a conversion formula to convert the dates into quarters and then use the formula in your chart vs. the actual date.

  • Crystal report files created, but why not all?

    I am using several (total 19) Crystal report files (*.rpt) in my project as report or subreport. When I delete these rpt files under my "...\bin\Debug" folder and run the application I see that some (exactly 14) of them are automatically retrieved back into the "...\bin\Debug" folder.
    But there are several other reports (remaining 5 of them) I also want them to be created at the application start. I have debugged the application from tha main entrance and saw that the rpt files are generated even the first line of code is executed. Also checked my "App.config" file (where I hold the paths for these report originals) and added the most recently created report that is not retrieved into the file, but the file is not retrieved.
    I have also checked the contents of "XXXXX.exe" (XML Configuration file), "XXXXX.vshost.exe" (XML Configuration file) under "...\bin\Debug" folder and "XXXXX" (Microsoft Visual Studio Solution), "XXXXX" (Microsoft Visual Studio Project file), "XXXXX.csproj" (Visual Studio Project User Options file), "XXXXX" (XML Configuration file) under the project folder but I still can not figure out how the Visual Studio determines which ones to retrieve and leave others
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards.

    This could be related to the Build Action property for the .rpt file.  Compare the settings for this property to see if the files that are not copied have a different setting.

  • Crystal Report parameter creating pages of lists to choose from

    Hi All,
    We have created a crystal report to produce statements for customers. We have added a dynamic parameter so the user can choose which BP Codes they want to run the report for, but the report creates several pages of codes, so, the user has to look through the pages to find the code to select.
    Is there any way to stop the report from creating these pages? I have been unable to find any mention of these in the online help files.
    Thanks

    Hi Prem,,
    I have created a crystal report which contains a parameter to choose a BP Code to run it for.
    The parameter is a dynamic one, so it fetches the list from the database, however, instead of opening one drop down box to scroll & choose the BP, it creates 5 pages of lists, so the user first has to guess which page the BP might be on, then scroll through the page to find the code.
    I need to know if there is a way to change this behaviour in crystal reports.
    Thanks

  • Using Crystal Report to create reports from ABAP

    Hello,
    We are currently using Jetform as the designer for our outputs like Invoice, Order confirmation, etc.....
    We would like to switch to Crystal instead, but don't really know where to start from.
    - We already have crystal on our B/W instance
    - The additional need for Crystal is in R/3, and would be triggered trough ABAPs.
    What I am looking for. I guess, is the equivalent to when:
    we call up smartforms from ABAP using the generated function modules
    we call up sapscript from ABAP using the predefine function call (write_form open_form close_form, etc)
    we call up Jetform using special control code along with the data, sent to a jetform configured printer
    => What kind of call would we then make to send data to Crystal Reports place holder and print them?
    => What kind basis set-up is needed to have to comunication between Crystal and SAP established?
    Thank you in advance for yours hints

    Hi,
    You will likely be able to access the tables directly using the Opensql driver using Crystal Reports.  I don't understand why you are assuming that an Infoset is necessary.  Can you point me to the documentation that states that an Infoset is necessary?
    In any case, if you want to create an Infoset, this is done in SQ02.  You need to make sure that you belong to a user group in order for Crystal Report to see the infoset.

  • Crystal report when created using sybase oledb, gives no appender error

    I have a .net 3.5 application which uses Sybase Oledb to export crystal report 2008 to some file format.
    While calling the function ExportToDisk, the console shows error as:-
    "log4plus:error no appenders could be found for logger <com.sybase.dataaccess.oledb.iunknown.queryinterface>.
    log4plus:error please initialize the log4c plus system properly"
    This is not any exception I think, because it does not get caught into Catch block when i tried.
    What is the reason this message is shown?
    The code is as follows:-
    ReportDocument reportDocument = new ReportDocument();
    reportDocument.Load(reportFileName);
                    foreach (CrystalDecisions.Shared.IConnectionInfo reportConnectionInfo in reportDocument.DataSourceConnections)
                        reportConnectionInfo.SetConnection("10.253.59.214,5000", "OPS_UTUPG_Adp3", "ops_sa", "TstUsr#1");
    //Function to set parameters of crystal report.
                    SetParameters(reportDocument);
                    string exportFile = @"C:\temp\ExportedReport.doc";
                    reportDocument.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.WordForWindows, exportFile);

  • Schedule Webi (and Crystal) report without creating a new instance

    Hi all,
    I'm looking for the way to not create a new instance of the report when we schedule a report? Is it any actions on the InfoObject object? Or is it just impossible to do?
    Thanks in advance !
    Edited by: jerome.vervier on Nov 21, 2011 11:40 AM

    Hi,
    With regards to your query, whenever a report is scheduled an instance of it will be created.
    Therefore, it is not possible to schedule a report without creating an instance.

  • Crystal Report 10.5 very slow (30 minutes) to display

    crystal report 10.5 in vs 2008 display at extremely very slow speed in development server and production server. i have loaded a dataset as the datasource for the report. i also checked the code in debugging mode to know where the delay is but found out it is not from the code as the code executes to the end in less than a minute but the browser keeps loading for several minute before display.
    please kindly help to resolve this issue.

    With CR 2008:
    For OLE DB then use:
    MS SQL 2005 - OLE DB Provider
    MS SQL 2008 - SQL Native 10
    For ODBC then use:
    MS SQL 2005 - SQL Native
    MS SQL 2008 - SQL Native 10
    Once you have a report created, you can use the following code at runtime:
    Public Sub New()
            'This call is required by the Windows Form Designer.
            InitializeComponent()
            'Add any initialization after the InitializeComponent() call
            'Create an instance of the strongly-typed report object
            crReportDocument = New CrystalReport1()
            'Setup the connection information structure to be used
            'to log onto the datasource for the report.
            crConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
            With crConnectionInfo
                .ServerName = "escalade"    'physical server name
                .DatabaseName = "Pubs"
                .UserID = "sa"
                .Password = "admin"
            End With
            'Get the table information from the report
            crDatabase = crReportDocument.Database
            crTables = crDatabase.Tables
            'Loop through all tables in the report and apply the connection
            'information for each table.
            For Each crTable In crTables
                crTableLogOnInfo = crTable.LogOnInfo
                crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo
                crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo)
            Next
            'Set the viewer to the report object to be previewed.
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crReportDocument
    End Sub
    And be careful with subreports. If you use the same connection type as for the main report the subreport should piggy back on the main connection. If you use a different connection, you'll have to use code to connect the subreports:
    //loop through all the sections to find all the report objects
    foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Section crSection in crSections)
        crReportObjects = crSection.ReportObjects;
        //loop through all the report objects to find all the subreports
        foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportObject crReportObject in crReportObjects)
            if (crReportObject.Kind == ReportObjectKind.SubreportObject)
                //you will need to typecast the reportobject to a subreport
                //object once you find it
                crSubreportObject = (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.SubreportObject)crReportObject;
                string mysubname = crSubreportObject.SubreportName.ToString();
                //open the subreport object
                crSubreportDocument = crSubreportObject.OpenSubreport(crSubreportObject.SubreportName);
                //set the database and tables objects to work with the subreport
                crDatabase = crSubreportDocument.Database;
                crTables = crDatabase.Tables;
                tableIndex = 0;
                bool SecureDB;
                //loop through all the tables in the subreport and
                //set up the connection info and apply it to the tables
                foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table crTable in crTables)
                {   // check if integrated security is enabled
                    SecureDB = crSubreportDocument.Database.Tables[tableIndex].LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity;
                    string TableName = crTable.Name.ToString();
                    tableIndex++;
                    crConnectioninfo.ServerName = "VMW2K8CRSE2K8";
                    //if (!SecureDB)
                        crConnectioninfo.UserID = "sa";
                        crConnectioninfo.Password = "PW";
                        crConnectioninfo.DatabaseName = "QTYLTD";
                        crTableLogOnInfo = crTable.LogOnInfo;
                        crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectioninfo;

  • Crystal Reports Excel Export Issue - page footer not being displayed

    We recently converted all Crystal Reports from Visual Studio 2003 to Visual Studio 2005 sp1, .NET 2.0, Crystal Reports for .NET.  I have the latest merge modules from business objects.  All reports & footers worked fine in VS2003 ... but now when I export to PortableDocumentFormat (PDF) or WordForWindows (DOC) the page footers appear correctly.  But, when I export to Excel (XLS) like the code below, the page footers do not appear.  We need to place a disclaimer at the bottom of every page of an exported excel document.  I checked the print preview, and I tested printing the document ... the the footer is not being utilized properly by the Crystal Reports export.
    System.IO.MemoryStream oStream = new System.IO.MemoryStream() ;
    oStream = (System.IO.MemoryStream) report.ExportToStream(CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportFormatType.Excel) ;
    Response.Clear() ;
    Response.Buffer = true ;
    Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" ;
    Response.BinaryWrite(oStream.ToArray()) ;
    Response.End();
    I have asked the question in msdn forum
    http://forums.msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/vsreportcontrols/thread/0ead9e34-bc45-4062-90dd-17f8f8ebf062

    fyi - if i hadn't mentioned it, problem occurs in all our environments (developer workstation, development server, testing server, production server, etc.)
    on my development workstation i found the file 3 times
    c:\program files\common files\business objects\1.0\bin\crxf_xls.dll
    has file version 9.1.1.557
    c:\program files\common files\business objects\2.7\bin\crxf_xls.dll
    has file version 10.2.0.1093
    c:\program files\common files\business objects\3.0\bin\crxf_xls.dll
    has file version 11.0.0.1937
    on my development server (and our other environment servers too)
    c:\program files\common files\business objects\2.7\bin\crxf_xls.dll
    has file version 10.2.0.1210
    so just from that i notice that the file versions in the 2.7 bin are different from my developer workstation to my development server ... but the issue still occurs in both places.

  • Creating Bar Charts using Java and Display in jsp

    Hi..Is it possible to create a servlet that processes data from database and display the values as Bar Charts in jsp pages. If its possible, is there any examples on how to achieve that?

    I don't get it. You already know what needs to be done to solve your problem, the only thing you are missing is the HOW. That's the easy part, if only you break down what you have to know:
    1) how do I show an image on a website (this is a basic HTML question actually, not actually related to servlets/JSPs directly)
    2) how do I fetch the path from a database (JDBC question) so that I can use this path to link to my image on disc
    So what is preventing you from figuring out how to do these two simple tasks? Some clever google searches should give you all the information you need in no time.
    by the way: are you sure that you need to store these paths in the database? Is this part of some file upload component?

  • Crystal Reports and Organizational Charts

    Has anyone used Crystal Reports for creating Organizational Charts? The gap we have is that some manual user overrides are needed to the final output, and the output cannot be modified in Crystal unless exporting the data. The export format is clunky.

    Hi,
    Did you do any aggregation for your org chart in crystal report?
    Or you have to draw it in CR?
    If not, pls use excel or other powerful UI oriented tools, as far as i know, crystal handles data well but not the final format.
    Thx,

  • Crystal report XI R2 chart problem

    Hi !
    I have created a report which contains a subreport.
    I need a subreport to evaluate a number which I gives back to my main report to calculate a ratio (Formula) in my main report.
    Data are correct in my report but I cannot insert a chart (report footer) which shows the trend of my ratio values : the chart is empty (no value) even if the values are correct in my report.
    Could you help me ?
    Many thanks.
    Z.

    The reason why chart values are empty because Crystal Reports can create charts based on whilereadingrecords data only.
    Subreport runs in WhilePrintingRecords time, it means shared values from subreport are available in WhilePrintinRecords only and it is too late for the chart.
    As a workaround I would suggest create another subreport (report footer) for chart only and pass data from main report to chart subreport as a parameter. In this case values will be available in subreport WhileReadingRecords evaluation time.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Pie Chart Data Labels

    Hi,
    I've been trying to figure out why I cannot get the option to put pie chart data labels in the center of each slice.  There's an option to place them there, but everytime I select it, the graph reverts to putting the data labels on the outside with leader lines.  I was able to do it once, for one pie chart, but have not been able to get it to work for any others.  I've even tried creating a pie with only two slices in case there's a slice size limit below which the data is placed outside.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why it worked once and now won't work again.
    Thanks,
    -Jim
    Edited by: jwmckay on Apr 23, 2010 7:19 PM

    Hi Jim,
    The issue could be faced because of the 'Auto-arrange' layout option enabled from Chart Expert within the report.
    This option allows Crystal Reports to reset the chart layout to its original size and position
    To uncheck the 'Auto-arrange option':
    - First Go to Chart Expert-
    - Click on the Options Tab
    - Uncheck Auto - Arrange
    - Click OK
    I hope this helps,
    Selenia

  • Creating a crystal report using excel

    I have an excel spreadsheet that I would like to access to create a crystal reports.  But it seems that I have to first save it as an access or other database file.  But this information changes frequently so I it would be more efficient to access the excel file directly.  I tried using the crystal wizard addin in excel, but then when I run the report I get the error message "Server has not yet been opened".  Any other ideas on how to create report of excel data directly?

    Hello Guys ,
    I have something similar problem ,but not exactly.
    our requirement is We are scheduling one crystal report to generate excel and sent to FTP location.This Excel file (in FTP) should be the input of new Crystal Report using ODBC (RDO) connection.
    I am able to create the ODBC connection,but that ODBC connection is not showing me the selected excel sheet in the Crystal Report ODBC Connection.I tried with Remote as well as local drive Excel also.
    I tried on different machine (thought ,it could be Driver specific),but all machines does have same issue.
    Is there any settings or driver upgrades require for CR XI R2 /2008 in order to use ODBC (RDO) for EXCEL FILES.I didnt find any comments /resolution in Google too.
    My steps -
    1) Create a sample Excel file - only few records
    2) Created a System ODBC connection pointing this excel file say "TEST1"
    3) Opened A Blank Crystal Report
    4) Create a New connection
    5) Select ODBC RDO
    6) Create new connection and selected the newly created SYSTEM DSN "TEST1"
    7) check the selected excel is displayed in ODBC RDO connection??
    If it is a Crystal Report issue or ODBC Driver issue ,please let me know if anyone have came across similar issues.
    thanks in advance.

  • How to create crystal reports from ecc abap program?

    Hi all,
    I am new to sap ecc to bo report!!
    I heard that abap program cannot be directly connected to crystal reports,
    So created a function module which is equivalent to the abap program!!
    And happened to connect the same in crystal !!
    Can anyone let me know how to proceed !!
    will be there any performance issue ?
    can anyone guide me how to do reporting from ecc function module to crystal reports directly?
    Thanks

    Hi Pooja,
    From what I know, not all ABAP programs can be accessed in Crystal Reports. The program should return rows and columns, otherwise, CR would not be able to report off it.
    I'm not sure if there are any performance issues if we follow your path. Do you experience any?
    And, do you need help in creating a report on the function module, I mean do you also have any design related queries?

    I have the same problem with ClearQuest 7.0.1.1, except the error contains 'version 11.0' instead of 10.0.This happened when I installed Crystal Reports XI Pro designer.  I followed the procedure to manually uninstall and re-install CR, which allowed me to to author report formats, but I still get this error when trying to view report in the ClearQuest for Windows client.  I tried to re-register all the CR viewer DLLs I could find, but still no luck.Any suggestions?  Thanks,Nate
