Crystal report XI- JRC

Hi All,
   I am using Crystal report XI with Java and Jboss4.0 and i am tryin to pull a report of around 90 pages. when i click on the report link it takes atleast 5 minutes to load the report and if i click on the last page button immediately after that i get the last page after 4 to 5 min after that i could navigate to any page in 2-4  seconds.
I am not closing the ReportClient in my code will this be making the report to take long?
secondly i get a wierd error,not all times but only when i try to click on any buton(next page ,export or lastpage button) consecutively for threee four times.The error says
'couldnot retrieve data for subreport at this position'
how can i overcome these issues. please help..
thanks,
prem

  • Wingdings not exported correctly in PDF by Crystal Reports XI JRC in Linux

    I have a report that contains checkmark and scissor character from Wingdings/Wingdings 2. The PDF file is generated via a program using Crystal Reports' Java Reporting Component. When I am testing it in my machine (Windows), the checkmark and scissors characters are shown correctly. But using our Linux Redhat server generates a "P" instead of the checkmark and a quotation mark instead of the scissors.
    With the thought that Crystal Reports XI JRC do font indexing instead of subsetting/embedding, my idea was that there was no installed Wingdings font in the Linux server. I've replicated the case in my Windows machine by removing the Wingdings font.
    With that knowledge, I've installed the Wingdings (*.ttf files) font in the Linux server and executed commands like ttmkfdir (as instructed in some tutorials). I've verified that in Applications -> Preference -> Fonts that the Wingdings fonts are selectable. But when I generated again my PDF file, the correct fonts are still not rendered correctly. Is there anything more I need to do for the JRC to recognize the Wingdings font in Linux.
    Migrating to the Crystal Reports for Eclipse released last Jan 2009 is not a possible option.

    First check is to ensure the Java JVM can see the font.  The Java SDK comes with the JFC demo Font2DTest.  Do the fonts show up there?
    Note that the Java JRE has a lib/fonts directory, where you can place TrueType fonts that the JRE then would use.

  • How to pass BigDecimal as currecny to Crystal Reports using JRC 11

    Im using JRC to load and view crystal reports.ie loading crystal reports that are created (not by me) using Crystal Reports v 10. My work is just load those rpt files using JRC thick client.
    rpt files are bound to .mdb (MS Access) database and DB is password protected.  One of the table in database has currency data type. I'm creating a POJO class to implement the table structure. To match with Currency type, Im using BigDecimal type in my pojo class. when i open the .rpt file in crystal report designer, it shows with default currency symbol (i.e $ and  £) But the when i load the same report via JRC, It doesnot show the symbol at all.
    When I change this to String and pass symbol, it is coming up properly. But in some places, the reports use sum function of 2 curency fields. So in this case, string cannot be used.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Sorry. I did not get your point directly.
    So I'd recommend not directly relying on internal handling of BigDecimal. You can still report off the value.
    So you are telling me not to use BigDecimal? If not what should I use? Please be bit more explanative.
    Thanks.

  • Error while dynamically setting logo image in Crystal Report 2008

    Hi,
    We have embedded Crystal Report 2008 JRC in our web application which is an Enterprise Archive (EAR) deployed on WebSphere Application Server.
    The RPT files bundulled in the archive displays a logo which is dynamicalli picked up by the RPT files from a configured location. Due to this the Report generation crashes when travesed to the sub reports/ groups within RPT. We have observed that this problem never occures if the logo is hard coded within the RPT files.
    The report crashing causes another big problem, it crashes the Applciation Server too. This is major concern to us and we need a resolution to this problem.
    Thanks in advance

  • PrinterException when multiple threads try to print report using JRC

    Iam using Crystal Report's JRC for printing reports, it works fine.
    But the problem araises when i use multiple threads.
    I used the following:
    reportClientDocument.getPrinterOutputController().printReport(.....); to print.
    I get the following exception
    Caused by: java.awt.print.PrinterException: No printer named "\\ch03\printer05" could be found.
    Without multiple thread it works fine.
    I have been scratching my head for days on this problem, any help is very much appreciated..

    If an API doesn't specifically say that it is thread safe then it isn't likely to be thread safe and the only way to approach it is to assume that it isn't.

  • Is it OK to open a CR Report with JRC/Gemini which is modified by RAS SDK?

    Dear all
    Is it OK to open a CR Report with JRC/Gemini which is modified by RAS SDK? Especially after I use RAS SDK to change report database location.
    I test it OK, but my Customer need to confirm this.
    Thanks a lot.
    David

    RAS SDK - meaning RAS server?
    There's intrinsic limitations for Crystal Reports Java (JRC for CR4E Version 2), such as database connectivity (only Java-based ones) when compared to RAS server.
    But CRJ does support Crystal Reports 2008 reports within those limitations.
    By the way, the new CR4E Version 2 Crystal Reports Java SDK is essentially the in-process RAS SDK - so you can make modifications using that.  Note that JRC SDK (version 11.8 and below) are deprecated with CR4E Version 2), then new way si the the Crystal Reports Java SDK.

  • JRC bug: apostrophe in string parameter passed to Crystal Report with Command datasource to SQL Server

    Post Author: nl11087
    CA Forum: JAVA
    A single quote/apostrophe in string parameter passed to a Crystal Report with Command datasource connecting to a SQL Server database, using sqljdbc driver does not escape the special character correctly. When doing a preview in the Crystal Reports IDE it allows you to escape the input parameter as expected and work correctly, but through the JRC component it fails. For string parameters without special sql server characters I experience no problems at all. When replacing the Command with a direct table there is also no problem.
    Reproduction:
    1. create a database db1, create a table table1 with a String type column col1.
    2. Create new report Report1.rpt, create a connection to above, Add Command using 'SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table1 WHERE col1 = '{?Par1}' . Add a parameter field Par1 : String
    3. In your java stand alone application using JRC add the parameter Par1 with a value "Jon Doe's Value" containing a single apostrophe. Export to PDF. (I also tried MSWord and this failed too, similar behavior). Additionally, in another test try to replaceAll("'","''") to escape it, preventing the code to break, but now it does not retrieve the expected row anymore and you end up with an empty report.

  • JRC Export to Text like Crystal Report Designer Export

    We need to Export report to Text like Crystal Report Designer Export using JRC. Is this possible? I see export ReportExportFormat CSV, PDF and RTF only. These exports are working, But I need plain text that looks like Text export of Crystal Reports Designer. I see this working in RAS 2008. What I can do to get this with JRC. I am using Crystal Reports 2008 to design reports.
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards

    Clarification

    Thank you Jitin.
    What could be solution to this problem?
    If still I want to go with JRC, Can I write some Java code to perform this export?
    I see TextExportFormatOptions and its not working.
    If I want to export automatically to text format, what other choices are there?
    Basically I need to execute report and generate text file automatically. Text file should look like Crystal Report Designer Exported Text file.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Crystal Report JRC and JNDI problem

    I need to convert one of our internal web application from using Crystal Report Server 10 RAS to using Crystal Report XI Java Component (JRC). I found several examples from SAP/BusinessObjects but am stuck with a database connectivity problem.
    The basic enviornment info:
    JBoss 4.0.3 SP1
    Crystal Report JRC XI
    Windows XP/Server 2003
    JDK 1.5.x
    MS SQL Server 2005
    The error I am getting is "Error finding JNDI name (xxx)", although the application is already using the same JNDI and was able to display data on the web.
    I added debug code:
                    Context initialContext = null;
                    try {
                        initialContext = new InitialContext();
                        DataSource ds = (DataSource) initialContext.lookup("java:MYAPP");
                        String t = ds.toString();
                        log.debug(t);
                    } catch (NamingException e) {
                        log.error(e);
    I was able to get the data source successfully. The actual report file uses JDBC with JNDI named as "MYAPP". When I call the viewer, it gives
    Error finding JNDI name (MYAPP)
    message.
    Any comment or help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    How are you setting your connection info?
    This is what we do:
    IConnectionInfo connectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    PropertyBag propertyBag = new PropertyBag();
    propertyBag.put("JNDI Datasource Name", reportJndiName);
    propertyBag.put("Database DLL", DATABASE_DLL); // required!!! (but we don't actually provide a DLL, or even run in windows)
    connectionInfo.setAttributes(propertyBag);
    connectionInfo.setKind(ConnectionInfoKind.SQL);
    ConnectionInfos connectionInfos = databaseController.getConnectionInfos(null);
    IConnectionInfo oldConnectionInfo = connectionInfos.getConnectionInfo(0);
    databaseController.replaceConnection(oldConnectionInfo, connectionInfo, null, DBOptions._useDefault );

    viewer.dispose();
    catch(Exception e)
    throw new JspException( e);
    %>
    </body>
    </html>

    I never really had much luck with this approach.
    Mind you I was using Crystal Reports 10, and as far as I recall it didn't allow setting/changing of database at this level.
    Things to check
    - can you create a database connection on your page with this URL/username/password?
    - what server are you using? Tomcat? WebLogic?
    I found this in your other post:
    Connection Information: {Server Name=ee6rpt, Connection String=DSN=s(ee6rpt);User ID=s(ee62test);Password=;UseDSNProperties=b(false), Database Name=, Database DLL=crdb_odbc.dll}That would indicate it is using odbc to connect to the database (crdb_odbc.dll). ODBC is a bad idea with java.
    The way I have got it to work for me (after much trial and error) was to in Crystal Reports to connect using the Oracle Driver, and specifying a tnsname - eg define REPORT_DS in tnsnames.ora.
    When running through the JRC, it looked for a JNDI datasource under that same name "REPORT_DS".
    Don't know if that will help you or not.
    Good luck,

  • JRC Deployment Guide for Crystal Reports 2008

    I just downloaded a trial version of Crystal Reports 2008 & was testing out the integration of this component into our Java web based application.
    I found the "Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - Java Reporting Component Deployment Guide" PDF file, but I was wondering if there was a more recent version of this guide for Crystal Reports 2008.  Maybe I'm a bit confused regarding the versions but this guide currently references JARs in a folder under ...\3.5\java\lib.  However, when I looked in the same section of Crystal 2008, I noticed it was \4.0\java\lib & the JARs are different.
    Is there a new JRC Depolyment Guide for Crystal Reports 2008?...If not, is there any documentation I can use to map between the 3.5 libraries and the 4.0 libraries?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    There is no separate JRC has been launched for the CR 2008.
    But SAP has launched the Crystal Reports 4 Eclipse 2.0 in which CR 2008 has been integraqted with backword compatibility.
    To know more please check following link:

  • JRC - multiple tables in crystal report

    Post Author: Crystal Wong
    CA Forum: JAVA
    Hi, I am using the Java Reporting component of Crystal Report XI R2 SP2. I encounter error when pushing 2 Java resultset to a report as a datasource, like the code belows, ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();          reportClientDoc.open(REPORT_NAME, 0); String query1 = "SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2 FROM TABLE1" ;ResultSet resultSet1 = getResultSetFromQuery(query1, ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE); String tableAlias1 = reportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().getDatabase().getTables().getTable(0).getAlias();reportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().setDataSource(resultSet1, tableAlias1 , tableAlias1); String query1 = "SELECT COLUMN1, COLUMN2 FROM TABLE2" ;ResultSet resultSet2 = getResultSetFromQuery(query2, ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE);String tableAlias2 = reportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().getDatabase().getTables().getTable(1).getAlias();reportClientDoc.getDatabaseController().setDataSource(resultSet2, tableAlias2 , tableAlias2); I wanna to ask, Does JRC support multiple tables in a report with the approach suggested above? Thanks a lot!

    Finally, I decided to use a join SQL or SubReport to do it.SubReport can support multiple pushing of ResultSet.

  • ISeries V6R1 system requirements for Crystal Reports JRC XI Release 2

    What are the iSeries system requirements for the JRC?  We are running iSeries V6R1 operating system and WebSphere 7.0 and Crystal Reports XI Release 2 JRC.   We recently upgraded from XI to XI Release 2 for the JRC.  We had to upgrade to resolve the issue with not finding the datasource from the JNDI name.  After this upgrade, we are connectiong to the datasource now, but our reports no longer use the same fonts as before.

    1. Is it supported on the IIS web server running on Windows 7?
    2. Is it supported on the IIS web server (version 7.5) running on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-Bit?
    - Yes to both, but you must use Service Pack 6:

  • JRC (Crystal Report Viewer 11.**.**) Requires any license

    Dear All,
    We am using Crystal report 10 and JRC (Crystal Report Viewer 11.*.*) . we have license for crystal report 10 but no license for JRC 11. I downloaded JRC JARS from internet, so do we require License for JRC to use in the Production Enviornment.. If so can i get license for JRC 11 alone.
    What about Crystal report for Eclipse2.0 (CR4E2.0). Does this also requires license to use in the production enviornment.
    Please reply me as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance

    You will need to have a look at the [Crystal Reports Developer Advantage License|http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/reporting-dashboarding/reporting/developeradvantage/index.epx].
    I think that will answer most of your questions.
