Crystal Reports Color Scheme
How can I change Crystal Reports 2008 Color Scheme? The background is a gradient blue, with other applications open it turns black and I can not see Headers/Footer groups.
Hello Wayne,
I don't think this is a Crystal issue. Check your Video driver for updates or try changing your screen resolution and color depth.
What OS are you using?
Thank you

I am processing a crystal report on RAS server,and exporting it to PDF, using the RAS Dlls.
Dim Report As ReportClientDocument
Dim crExportData As New ByteArray
Dim crExportType As CrReportExportFormatEnum
crExportType = CrReportExportFormatEnum.crReportExportFormatPDF
crExportData = Report.PrintOutputController.Export(crExportType)
A gray background is applied to an object in crystal report, with RGB color code (216,216,216).
On exporting this report to pdf, the color appears as required.
However, when printing this PDF in a digital printer (uses CMYK color format), the color changes to Pinkish Gray.
The color remains gray as required, in other printers.
Is there any way to make the exported PDF CMYK compliant?
Please help.From the info, I have no idea what version of .NET and CR you are using...
How is the printing from the CR designer?
How is the printing to another printer, say HP?
Do you have the latest updates for Digital Printer (CMYK) installed?
How does a plain pic with grey background print from a .NET app? (E.g.; is this a CR issue, or a framework issue? See:

Changing default color scheme when exporting ALV report to Excel spreadshee
Hi all,
We have a bunch of FI reports created using OOPS in abap. Each of the reports has the functionality to be exported to an excel spreadsheet. When exporting to Excel, the headers are a very dark brown color, making them difficult to read and it has been requested that they are shaded a lighter color. I have not defined any sort of color scheme within the report itself, and I was wondering if there was a way to change the color scheme when exporting the report to excel. Let me know if there is anything that can be done, thanks!check ur fcat

Crystal Reports - Change Line Chart Color Dynamically
Hello,
I have Crystal report 14.
I'm trying to create a line chart and need to be able to set the colors of the lines at the time the report is run. The colors the lines need to be are specified in a database and a different color could be specified each time the report is run.
Can anybody suggest how I would do this?
Thanks
Edited by: Robert4543 on Nov 16, 2011 5:23 PMI've tried to use 'Color Highlight' to change the color of the lines, but it only changed the colors of the markers on the line, not the actual line itself. Is there a way to get it to change the color of the line?
I may have one line I need to display as 1 color, and a 2nd that I need to display as another. Using color highlight changed the markers for both lines to the same color. Is there a way to specify which line I want to change the color of in "Color Highlight"?
Thanks.

Altering schema of tables/objects inside a crystal report through API
hi all,
We run crystal reports through a Java application (using CR4E API) connecting to Oracle database. All the tables/views within the report do not use fully qualified names (i.e. schemaName.objectName) instead they use the object name alone. Earlier we would run all the reports logging in as the schema owner and hence all the objects would be accessible without issue. Per a new requirement we now log in as a non-schema owner ID and the objects are now not accessible to this user id unless a fully qualified object is not provided as the default context schema will now be different.
We tried altering the schema through the API like so,
ITable origTable = null;
ITable newTable = null;
String DB_USER_NAME = username;
String DB_PASSWORD = password;
String TRUSTED_CONNECTION = "true";
String SERVER_TYPE = "JDBC (JNDI)";
String USE_JDBC = "true";
String DATABASE_DLL = "crdb_jdbc.dll";
String JNDI_DATASOURCE_NAME = jndiName;
String CONNECTION_URL = connectionURL;
String DATABASE_CLASS_NAME = driverName;
Tables tables = clientDoc.getDatabaseController().getDatabase().getTables();
for(int i = 0;i < tables.size();i++){
origTable = tables.getTable(i);
if (tableName == null || origTable.getName().equals(tableName)) {
newTable = (ITable)origTable.clone(true);
newTable.setQualifiedName("TestSchema." + origTable.getAlias()); <--- Set actual schema here but it still takes the alias as "command"
Are we doing anything wrong here? It appears that the table name is always "command", internally I think CR uses the name command for its table and we are not allowed to change it. The table name, alias and qualifier name are be default set to "command" by CR. If I append schema name to the table name I get schemaName.command as against schemaName.objectName.
Synyonyms are not an option for us for various reasons. We will not be able to go down that road no matter what. However we are looking at an API related solution here so if anyone could advise in this regard it would be very helpful.Lindell - your response was very helpful. I was able to create a SQL Command on the subreport and change the subreport links on the main report to use the paramters in the SQL Command. The report is now very fast - even when there are lots of detail records on the main report. It is properly executing the query and not reading all 2M records into memory for each subreport.
I'm still totally confused as to why Crystal was misbehaving so poorly and changing how the subreport queried the database when the only change was the fields used for record selection on the main report. It really looks like a bug to me, but maybe someone can still enlighten me.
thanks again so much. We are in Parallel testing for a production rollout - and the users are MUCH happier now! (which of course makes me much happier!)
Susan
PS I was not aware of the SQL Command - had never used it before. Took me a little while to figure it out and how to do the linking - but it is very powerful. Thanks again. -
Printing in color or black & white in VB6 and Crystal Reports 8.5
Post Author: elsyvaldez
CA Forum: General
How can I programatically print in color or black & white? I am programming in Visual Basic 6.0 using the Crystal Reports 8.5 Active X Designer Runtime Report object (CRAXDRT.dll). Our users want the option to print either in color or black & white to a color printer. I am trying to print many separate reports (for a large group of accounts) in one click of the VB6 "Print" command button without having to display the Printer Setup dialog box for each separate report. The Report object in CRAXDRT has a method to display the printer setup dialog box but has no property to change "Color" mode (similar to the "PaperOrientation" or "PrinterDuplex" properties). Is there a way that our users can bring up the Printer Setup dialog box just once, choose color mode, and then make this choice effective for all separate reports printed using CRAXDRT?Hi Sastry
I can print multiple pages from notepad without any issues. It is only the print from the crystal OCX control that has the issue. It has it's own print dialog box.
Thanks

Can DTD schema for a XML file be a data source to the Crystal Reports?
Hi All,
We are trying to generate a crystal report having XML file as a source. And we want to use the DTD schema for the source XML file.
Please suggest whether DTD schema can be used for crystal reports or not.
Thanks
SriramHi Sriram,
I think it should work.
1) Use this pdf for your reference
[https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/90faaea7-8e1e-2b10-e6a7-ea82e11d9e8b ]
2)if in case it does not help you can convert existing DTD to XSD using this online converter
[http://www.hitsw.com/xml_utilites/]
and then use for generating report from XML file.

Heading and color scheme of the columns for the detail report
Is it possible to have a heading and color scheme of the columns for the reports displayed on drill down of a query in WAD?
Try the stylesheet in the properties of web template.

Visual Studio 2005, embedded Crystal Report problem
I am very new at .NET, and this is my first post to this forum.
I've created a Crystal Report within a project using Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition, on a Windows XP machine. I set the report as the ReportSource for a CrystalReportViewer on the main form. I can see data in the report in design view when I right-click on any of the fields and click "Browse Field Data". But when I preview the report, or run it in the application, all I see are the column headings and report title. I am hoping I am leaving out something obvious. I've researched this for two days without success.
The report's detail section is NOT suppressed, btw.
FYI (although I think it might not be relevant, because I don't see the data when I preview it in Visual Studio either) the report is displayed in the application when a button is clicked, as follows:
Private Sub cmdRunLog_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdRunLog.Click
CrystalReportViewer1.DisplayToolbar = True
cmdRunLog.Text = "Hide Run Log"
cmdUpload.Enabled = False
cmdReports.Enabled = False
cmdManualRun.Enabled = False
CrystalReportViewer1.Visible = True
CrystalReportViewer1.Height = 600
CrystalReportViewer1.Width = 1000
CrystalReportViewer1.Left = 10
Dim strReportSQL As String = "Select * From dbo.PositivePayRunLog"
Dim DA As New SqlDataAdapter(strReportSQL, conPP)
Dim DS As New DataSet
'Variable to assign the report name
Dim strReportPath As String
DA.Fill(DS)
strReportPath = "c:\Positive Pay\PositivePayRunLog.rpt"
If Not IO.File.Exists(strReportPath) Then
_ErrorText = "Unable to locate report file: " & strReportPath
' Throw (New Exception("Unable to locate report file:" & vbCrLf & strReportPath))
GoTo cmdRunLog_Click_Error
End If
Dim rptDocument As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
rptDocument.Load(strReportPath)
rptDocument.SetDataSource(DS.Tables(0))
rptDocument.Refresh()
CrystalReportViewer1.ShowRefreshButton = False
CrystalReportViewer1.ShowCloseButton = False
CrystalReportViewer1.ShowGroupTreeButton = False
CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rptDocument
end sub
I'm hoping that this is a common problem with an easy answer
Thanks,

I have done both, but I was currently using OLEDB.
I redesigned the report to use a dataset containing the correct data. Now, when I browse the fields, I see nothing. When I preview the report, I see what appears to be dummy data (a list of colors, etc).
But the GOOD news is: When I run the report in the application, I see the correct data!
Thanks! I think I'm good to go now. I will also apply the other suggestions, and try to simplify things. -

CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
I have a report written in Crystal Reports XI that has a pie chart in the Report Header displaying counts of activity by "reason code" for a selected time period. The users have noticed that, when they run the report for different time periods, the same "reason" has a different color on each report. It seems that the default is to sequence colors based on volume (size of 'pie wedge').
They would like to have the colors appear linked to Reason Code rather than to volume. Is there a way to change the pie chart color scheme so that it is coded by "description" not by "count"?hi,
As you are selecting 'Color Highlight' for different Pie Slices, "For all records" option shouldn't be selected.
It should be "On Change of".
Then obviously you will see the colors specified in 'Color Hghlight' tab.

I have tried this code but stil the same.

So i guess that is the memory size problem.
Thanks for this
One more question about the memory size between Tomcat and Crystal report.
I have set in catalina.bat as
set JAVA_OPTS = "-Xms2048M -Xmx1024M"
and CRConfig as
<JVMMaxHeap>1024000000</JVMMaxHeap>
<JVMMinHeap>512000000</JVMMinHeap>
1. Is that the correct setting.?
2. The memory in the JAVA_OPT and is the MAX and MIN memory that java would use,
then is the Max memory in CRConf is 1024M out of the java heap size or the application use another 1024 memory -

I have defined in Crystal to used an ADO .Net Database XML Schema.
I pass a Dataset to the Report By using SetDatbaseSourece and set the ReportSource for the CrystalViewer but I get the error that crdb_adoplus.dll does not exists.
Note that Crystal is looking for crdb_adoplus.dll under subdirectory dotnet1. It resides under win32_x86.
Is this a Crystal Report Problem ?

Error while dynamically setting logo image in Crystal Report 2008
Hi,
We have embedded Crystal Report 2008 JRC in our web application which is an Enterprise Archive (EAR) deployed on WebSphere Application Server.
The RPT files bundulled in the archive displays a logo which is dynamicalli picked up by the RPT files from a configured location. Due to this the Report generation crashes when travesed to the sub reports/ groups within RPT. We have observed that this problem never occures if the logo is hard coded within the RPT files.
The report crashing causes another big problem, it crashes the Applciation Server too. This is major concern to us and we need a resolution to this problem.
Thanks in advance

How to create a report using XML data source from Crystal Report Designer
Hi,
Iu2019m having Crystal Report Designer XI R2 SP4. Iu2019m trying to create a report using XML data source stored on disk. This is a customer order report and the xml is structured in such a way that it has an order details header part (master) and then it has several order lines (detail). One order line can have several order line characteristics (detail-detail). So what I need to know is now I can design this layout from the designer. If this was done using views I can do it with sub-reports but using xml data this seems to be different. Can you help me to design this layout? I have included the xml and xsd as well.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Chanaka

</xs:schema>Hi Sourashree,
Thank you for the response and ideas you have given me so far. I can get the fetch the data from the data source without any problem. That is I do the following,
1. New Report
2. From Create New Connection-> XML
3. Provide the u201CLocal XML Fileu201D and have u201CSpecify Schema Fileu201D checked -> Next
4. Provide the u201CLocal Schema Fileu201D -> Finish
Then I can see the following under XML
+ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST
CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST
CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP
CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES
CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE
CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE/ORDER_LINE_CHARACTERSTICS
CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE/ORDER_LINE_CHARACTERSTICS/CHARACTERSTIC_ITEM
And from here if I add the following three I can get all the fields I need to the report
CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP
CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE
CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/ CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP/ORDER_LINES/ORDER_LINE/ORDER_LINE_CHARACTERSTICS/CHARACTERSTIC_ITEM
Then I come to the Linking section. Here I canu2019t link anything. There is a common field called u201CInternal_IDu201D but I canu2019t link using it. So I get a message when I click Next. From here I add all the fields.
For this point onwards only I need help. How do I group, add fields and design the layout so I can get an report output as follows.

How can I achieve this kind of a layout using the give xml and xsd? Should I use grouping if so how should I do the grouping?
I have included the full xml and xsd in the first mail I posted but I canu2019t see it now. I can include that again if you want.
