Printing in color or black & white in VB6 and Crystal Reports 8.5

Post Author: elsyvaldez

How can I programatically print in color or black & white?  I am programming in Visual Basic 6.0 using the Crystal Reports 8.5 Active X Designer Runtime Report object (CRAXDRT.dll).    Our users want the option to print either in color or black & white to a color printer.  I am trying to print many separate reports (for a large group of accounts) in one click of the VB6 "Print" command button without having to display the Printer Setup dialog box for each separate report.  The Report object in CRAXDRT has a method to display the printer setup dialog box but has no property to change "Color" mode (similar to the "PaperOrientation" or "PrinterDuplex" properties).  Is there a way that our users can bring up the Printer Setup dialog box just once, choose color mode, and then make this choice effective for all separate reports printed using CRAXDRT?

Hi Sastry
I can print multiple pages from notepad without any issues. It is only the print from the crystal OCX control that has the issue. It has it's own print dialog box.
Thanks
Peter

    - latest version of CR that supports VB 6 is CR XI release 2. You can download an eval from here:
    http://www.businessobjects.com/products/reporting/crystalreports/eval.asp
    You will be using the SDK called Report Designer Component (RDC)

    - no licensing considerations. The runtime is free - as long as you do not use report creation APIs (RCAPIs). If you plan to use RCAPIs, you're better off upgrading to CR XI r2 as report creation licensing is included.
    More information;
    1) Note that the RDC has been retired and thus does not ship in the latest shipping version of CR; CR 2008.
    2) Distributing the CR runtime, you cannot use the VB 6 packaging and deployment Wizard. You must use the CR RDC merge modules.

    With some printers it is possible. Try going to the printer properties and selecting Grayscale pprinting.

  • Background color changed from white to yellow and =25% changed to %% on email

    I type =25% on my email and sent out, background color changed from white to yellow and =25% changed to %%.

    Try leaving a space after the =
    Thus: = 25%
    Where and when did it change? Did it change inside Thunderbird? Did it change in the Sent folder? Or in a reply to you?
    = and % are used in certain types of email encoding; =20% often appears, meaning character 0x20 which is 32 denary or the space character. It is often used where an explicit space would be illegal, and this is common in URLs and other links. I'm thinking that =25% similarly has a special meaning. It ''shouldn't'' get decoded, but software is buggy.
    I can't reproduce it here, which is why I'm asking about how and when it changes. Where does the Microsoft software come into it?

  • My printer will not print in color, only black and white.

    I have an Epson NX 420. I have set it up to my laptop, and am able to print off of my computer. But when I go to print a document out of pages, even though it says it is in the color mode it only will print out in Black and White. Is there something I should be downloading? I do know that the printer can and does print in color, because everything works perfectly fine on my Windows computer.

    There are a few things to check:
    Make sure the blue tape has been removed from the nozzle plate.
    Print a diagnostic page as shown in method 4 here.  Does this page print color?  If so the issue may be your driver settings.  Check for a "Print in grayscale" setting and uncheck this box.

  • Credit card statement printing in color when black and white chosen.  Wasting INK!  Not a printer problem.

    I have tried to print my business cc statement 3 times and even though I have my printer default to black and white and I verified that in the print dialog box it still printed in color three times.  I called printer company - no problems with that....I called cc company to see if they had a special down load issue - not problems with that.  They open in Adobe as a pdf so it must be that.  I saved it and tried to print it and it DID print correctly then.  But, I do not want to have to save the statement each time.  I have never had this issue before.  Printer is only a couple months old.  Programs are all up to date.

    Hi Pat,
    It seems to be happening only in Google Chrome.  And it has happened with other sites, too, when downloading something to print.  I attached a screen shot.  As you can see, it shows black and white for printing but it still printed in color.
    Are there setting in Chrome that I can't seem to find?  Thanks for your input.

  • How can I convert RGB Color to Black-White Color?

    Dear everyone!
    I am using Photoshop CS5. I have got a file from my customer which is done as RGB and the resolution is 300dpi. There are black texts and color images in the file. I wish to print Black-White Process Film (1 black color), but I don't know how to solve it. I started converting my file to Grayscale and then the black texts are not black enough because it becomes lighter. When I go to Level and adjust the color, both the image and texts becomes darker. What must I do to make only texts blacker without effecting the image?
    Please find the attached file for the reference.
    For more information, please let me know.
    My Best Regards,

    What file format was supplied to you? Was it truly RGB @ 300ppi or did you rasterize a PDF?
    300ppi is lousy for text. You might converse with your customer to instruct them on the ideal way to supply a file to you.

    Hi,
    It is possible to print in black only, it is impossible however to print with color inks only as the black color is also the base for for color printing.
    Ensure the Black ink is empty indeed by checking the Estimated ink levels on the printer screen.
    If it is empty you will need to replace the depleted cartridge to resume printing.

  • How do I print a graph in black & white?

    Hello all,
    I've tried the Print VI Upon Completion and the Report Generation tools. Neither seem to be able to print a single or multiple graphs in black that is dark enough to read. For some reason, they all print in grey. Is there a way to print in B&W using native LabVIEW tools?
    I built a piece of SW (see attached, requires IMAQ Vision) to use the IMAQ Vision tools to perform a color equalization, which works pretty well. This seems to be VAST overkill for such a simple task (not to mention complications with licensing for EXE versions). Is there an easier way to do this?
    I used the tool above with the Report Gen tools. For some reason, no matter how I set the margins (standard report), the Report Gen tools always resize the image to leave >2 INCHES of dead space at the right (landscape view). How can I correct this? The min margin for left and right seems to be 0.25", although they don't seem to work for images.
    Thanks kindly,
    Derek

  • Print All Colors As Black Using VB Script on CS3

    Is there a way to set all colors as black using a script? I have found the TextAsBlack option, but I also need it to work with images on the page. I have not figured out how to set the ink alias within a script (have not been able to find any information on how to so) and the print presets do not seem to include the ink alias setting. Below is what I have so far.
    Thanks,
    Archie
    Rem PRINT FILE
    Rem ----------
    Function myPrintFile (myInDesign, myDocument, myPrintToFile, myFileName)
    With myInDesign.ActiveDocument.PrintPreferences
    .Printer = myPrintToFile
    .TextAsBlack = True
    .ScaleHeight = 98
    .ScaleWidth = 98
    .PagePosition = idPagePositions.idCentered
    .PaperSize = "A4"
    .PrintFile = myFileName
    End With
    myInDesign.ActiveDocument.PrintOut False
    End Function

    I have no clue about the specific params, but from a conceptual point of view you will want to print to a grayscale destination profile (then everything else will simply fall into place).

  • Adding Color to Black & White Photo

    I have PE 9 and I know how to change a photo from Color to Black and White.  I am having trouble adding color back to the photo...Could someone please help me selectively add color to my now black and white photo.
    Thanks in advance.

    That's the easiest.
    Open your full colour image.
    Choose the Smart Brush tool I showed in my previous post.
    On the Options bar for the tool,
    hit the dropdown arrow (1).
    Hit the effects dropdown box and choose "Black and White" (2).
    Select "Grayscale" (3).
    Set your brush to a small size.
    Paint over the areas you want to be in Black & White.  The brush automatically selects entire areas as you paint.
    If it goes too far, set the brush to "minus"
    and paint over the excess area to return it to the original colour.
    The automatic selection kind of "learns" what you want, so by going back and forth between "plus" and "minus", you'll ultimately get what you want.

  • Problem printing duplex even though it's saved in the Crystal Report.

    I'm using VS.NET 2010 with Crystal Reports 13.0.10.1385
    We have a set of Crystal Reports that were created with Crystal 8.5 and they print duplex and the printer and printer preferences are saved with each Crystal Report.
    The problem is this, I'm pulling in these reports to my VS.NET 2010 Project using Crystal Report Viewer and it will not keep the printer preferences when you print the report.  Why, it works using VB6.0?  The only way I can get it to print duplex is to manually set the printer preferences before printing the report.

    Hi Bill,
    Update the reports to CR 2011 or above then that info should be saved. If not add this line of code to your app:
    rpt.PrintOptions.PrinterDuplex = PrinterDuplex.Default; // you can change the last value
    Or if using RAS use this:
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions RASPO = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions();
    RASPO.PrinterDuplex = CrPrinterDuplexEnum.crPrinterDuplexSimplex;
    And comparing RDC to .NET doesn't work. RDC used COM and DEVMODE, .NET uses the System.Printer API set.
