Crystal Reports XI - printers dialogbox dont open

hi all
sory my bad english
i have a problem, in mi add-on I call the dialogbox of printers.
the same code for times functions others not. Some times the same ard calls dialogbox in one machine and another machine not.
in the menu Event Print i have te code:
chamaImpressoras(pVal)
BubbleEvent = False
my Sub is for opening the dialoguebox of the printers.
'Chama a caixa de selecção das impressoras nos mapas incentea e etiquetas
Private Sub chamaImpressoras(ByRef pval As SAPbouiCOM.MenuEventClass)
Dim MyProcs() As Process
Dim i, ID As Integer
Dim hwdl As System.IntPtr
Try
SBOApplication.Desktop.Title = "SBO under " + SBOApplication.Company.UserName
MyProcs = Process.GetProcessesByName("SAP Business One")
For i = 0 To MyProcs.Length - 1
If MyProcs(i).MainWindowTitle = SBOApplication.Desktop.Title Then
ID = MyProcs(i).Id()
hwdl = MyProcs(i).MainWindowHandle
crxReport.SetDialogParentWindow(hwdl.ToInt32)
'crxReport.PrinterSetup(hwdl.ToInt32)
crxReport.PrintOut(True)
End If
Next
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox("Erro em ChamaImpressoras'" & ex.Message.ToString & "'")
End Try
End Sub
Most strange it is that I already had this to work, and is installed in a customer but now it does not work more.
I do not know more what to make!!
Some ideia?

  • Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Failed to open document

Yesterday I created a report in Visual Studio 2008 with about 20 subreports, each subreport containing a single aggregate query (i.e count or sum). I then saved the report file. Hours later when I attempted to reopen the report in Visual Studio I recived the message box "Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Failed to open document". The report file was completely unusable - it could not be opened for editting.
Today I repeated the process twice (once ith multiple subreports and once with all aggregate queries combined in a single subreport), only to have the new report files become unusable with the same error message. I am completely shocked at this behaviour from Crystal Reports. I have now spent 10+ hours with no usable report. I realy need a fix for this ASAP!!! Any suggestions would be greatlhy appreciated.

    Hi Jeff,
Just wanted to confirm you were on SP1.
I've found that these types of error are usually due to corrupt system files or sometimes even Anti-virus software denying access. If there is no error it's not CR corrupting the file.
Look in your AV logs to see if it's logging anything.
Another possibility is with MS pushing out patches they can also cause problems. I've see them change permissions on our dependencies that can cause problems.
Sorry I can't be specific but without seeing your report or any details you'll have to determine at which step in the report it stops working.
Can you save any reports now?
Steps to debug, create a new report with no subreports and save it. Then re-open, if that works then start adding one subreport and then save/open. It may be something related to either the subreports or the number of subreports.
You could try doing a repair install of VS and SP1.
Was this working at one time or is this something new, do you have other reports that are similar that have problems?
You need to debug the report and find out what is causing it to be corrupted. Try adding the 20th subreport and then delete it also.

  • Crystal Report XI R2 error when opening a report

This issue may not be unique to my situation and I'm hoping there are others here who have experienced this problem and have found a solution/workaround for it.
I have a Cyrstal Report file that was created using CR version 10.0 that has been in use by our web application without any issues for a while now. However, I found out that after I upgraded the Crystal runtime on my web server to version 11.5, this particular report refused to work with a simple error message that said : "File cannot be found.".
I tried opening this same report on Crystal Report XI R2, and it does not open and throws an error message saying: "This document could not be opened".
Strangely enough, this same file opens up fine on Crystal version 10. I'm inclined to believe that the report file I'm trying to work with has some header information that Cyrstal XI does not like, because it opens and generates fine on version 10.
The option of re-creating a new report from scratch on XI R2 is the last option since its a very complex report. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Madusha,
Those errors usually indicate that the report or something in the report has become corrupted. You could try
    a) Exporting the report to RPT format in CR 10 and see if it will open
    b) Try deleting 1 section at a time in CR10 until it opens in XI or R2, keep a copy of the original report and if you are able to narrow down the cause to a specific section or object then remove it from the original in CR10 and readd it in XI or R2

  • Converting a crystal report to pdf and then opening the pdf automatically

I am successfully exporting a crystal report to a pdf file using code in vb.net 2008 in a windows application.   The crystal report is open in the viewer control and the user presses a button to export it.
I create a variable with the report name and the location..  All works correctly.  However, I want the pdf to be open once it is saved which I believe is the case when you create  the pdf using the build in crystal export control.  But I am not using that.
I presume I could call another form and use the adobe com control, but i prefer to do this in one place.
    How can I accomplish this.
    Thanks
    smHaig

How about if I filter the open dialog box using the pdf name and folder.  Then that one would be the only one open in the dialog box and if the user selects it, it would open.  Have not tested yet, but this popped into my mind.   Seems better than a button on the form with the crystal view  to open another form .  Or I could have the adobe com object over laying the cr viewer and just make it visible if they press a button to open the abode  file..
Maybe people have tried this and could comment on the better choice to view the pdf
    1.  call another form that contains  the adobe com
    2.  place the adobe control over the cr viewer and make visible if user requests to see pdf.
    3.  use a filtered open dialog box.

  • Using Crystal Reports as the default for opening .rpt files

    Hi all,
I know this is a simple question with a simple answer, but I'm baffled, so here goes. I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 and I have the Crystal Report Viewer installed on my computer. I want to open .rpt files with Crystal Reports 2008 as the default application, not Crystal Report Viewer.
When I right-click the .rpt file I have three options, Crystal Report Viewer 2008, Microsoft Visual Studio Version Selector, and Choose Program. When I select Choose Program, then click the Browse button, Crystal Reports is not available as one of the programs to choose.
When I look at the programs available via the Control Panel, I see Crystal Reports 2008, but I'm not able to select it as the default for opening .rpt files. I'm assuming the program file is in my Program Files folder somewhere in the Business Objects folder, but I'm not sure which file I need to set Crystal as the default program. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

  • Validate Crystal Reports and printers

    Hi,
    I have two questions:
1 How i can validate that Crystal Reports is installed on a PC before i build the report in my AddOn
2 How i can validate that a printer is ready(on-line) to print a report on Crystal Reports
    Can you help me?
    Thanks

    hello Alvaro,
    1. on your windows start menu you should see a crystal reports, also as an alternative u can go to control panel and check if the crystal reports for B1 is available in the add/remove programs.
another way, to make sure that Crystal reports is fully integreted in your SBO goto Administration -->> Crystal Report Administration (This should be available in the SBO main menu under administration)
    2. during the creation of the report (Crystal Report interface) from file -- >> page set-up, at this point you should select w/c printer is default for this specific report. and to find out if the printer is online check it from printers and devices window and check the status of the printer.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply.  I followed the other link and it didn't help my current situation.
Is there a link for paid support .. all I need to do is the following for a client:
    1) Install Crystal report 2011 on a Microsoft 2008 Server R2.. my error message is above.
Resolve the error on start up of Crystal reports..
It's already been over 1 week .. and I can't seem to get a live person on SAP that can help me... once this is resolved I think I will be ok.
I have CR XI on running on another server with no issues.. I don't know if the above is due to a service pack issue, security issue on installation, ...  its a production server so I just want to resolve this quick.
Any help you can give me on getting alive person that I can talk to will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Performance issue - Open a Crystal Report from SAP BW

    Hi,
I have an general question on the performance of Crystal Reports: We are using Crystal Reports 2008 SP 2 in context with SAP BW 7.0. We don't have a BO XI. We use the BW as a central storage for our reports. Now we have the problem that the opening of some reports takes a long time. For expample one report needs ~13 secound an another > 5 minutes.
Where can be the problem? What happens in SAP BW when a report is called? And what can we do to make it faster?
    Thanks for your informations!

    Hi Ingo,
the value of MaxPickListSize is "c8".
Yesterday I have spent a lot of time to find the bottleneck. I have traced the SQL statements, which are performed from Crystal Reports / Integration Kit when I open a report. It might be the values for the parameters. That's our situation:
    Crystal Reports
           |
    Query (restriced on Cube 1)
           |
    MultiProvider
      - Cube 1
      - Cube 2
      - Cube 3
      - DSO 1
The slow report is based on the BW Query and in the filter restricted to the Cube 1. If I open the report, all values for the parameters are read from all the InfoProviders under the MultiProvider (Cube 1, Cube 2 Cube 3 and DSO 1). The very big DSO 1, which is not used, increases the duration extremly. This may not be the desired behavior?! Is this a bug? I would expected that only the values are loaded from Cube 1.

  • Crystal Report 2008 File Open limit

In Crystal Reports 2008 when selecting File > Open > Enterprise  The number of files listed in each directory looks to be limited to around 25 files.
If I have a directory with more then that number of files, I have to move the file to another folder or rename it (using CMC) so it shows up in the first bunch of files if I want to open it.
Is there a way to increase the number of files shown in the Enterprise window?
    Thanks

    Hello,
Not exactly clear what you want? Save your reports to your D drive would be my first guess.... If you are referring to the \temp folder then change your system Environment Variable from the default to d:\temp and also change the TMP to d:\Tmp.
You could even set your Swap file to d drive also. I suggest you contact your IT department or search Microsoft's site on how to optimize hard drive space when it's limited. PLEASE back up everything first before making changes to your swap file location, if you don't do it right you may not be able to start windows.
    Thank you

  • Fields missing while printing crystal reports !!

    Hello everyone
I have a crystal report application in VB.NET 2005, which gets the values of a field from the database and supports printing of the report in the following formats
    1. pdf
    2. directly to a printer - printout
When i export the report using reportdocument to pdf , all the fields are getting printed : Normal - As expected
But when i print the report directly using PrintToPrinter method,i am not able to print some of the fields. i.e some of the entries are missing in that report printout
Can someone guess what could be the problem ???
Are there any limitations / preconfigurations that needs to be done apart from setting page size, margin before using the PrintToPrinter method
    Regards
    Srivatsa

    OK, a few incongruencies here:
I'm using the version of the Crystal Reports that ships along with the Visual Studio.NET 2005.
    - that would make is CR 10.2
We have also tried applying the latest service packs crxir2_sp4_full_build
    - So SP 4 for CR XI release 2 would not do you much good as per above (if you are indeed using CR 10.2(?))
    - How did you get to the crxir2_sp4_full_build? This is in a gated section of the SAP website. The only publically available SP 4 for CR XI r2 is "incremental... If you did apply crxir2_sp4_full_build, then you are working with CR XI r2 now...
The behavior is seen in the web application and the behavior is seen both in the dev and deployment system.
    - So this does not work anywhere? If so, why bother going to deployment?
Also i tried exporting to pdf soon before / after printing. But the fields are present in the pdf and not on the printouts
    - Confirm that you do see the fields on an exported PDF and when you print the PDF you get a blank printout?
    More clarification needed:
We need to be absolutely clear on what version of Crystal Reports you are using. Open your .NET project, go to your references and look for CrystalDecisions.Crystalreports.Engine.dll. What version is this assembly?
Also, please answer the rest of the questions above.

  • Cannot save Crystal report layout or view new layout of report

I am trying to make a change to a system crystal report (cust. recievables detailed aging). I had to make the date feild a little wider, so I edited the "system layout" that came with SAP (in my test DB of course), and I go to add-ins>sap business one>save. I get the following error "current user has no permissions for this operation". I am logged in as a superuser and full perm.
If I "save-as" and save it to a layout in sap....when I go to open the aging with my newly created layout it freezes and asks for DB logon info to connect to my server from crystal. I do not normally have to do this when I preview my reports in the out of the box layouts. WHat am I doing wrong? I am new to crystal.

The system will not allow me to export the system crystal report....it is grayed out, and it IS a crystal report. HOwever I can open it in crystal, then save it to my desktop, then from INSIDE of SAP in the report and layout manager I import the crystal report I made the changes to from my desktop into SAP and it saves and imports no problems. However when I go to view the report (and this is only the ones I import), it prompts me with the db login for our server to connect, and it is only with that report, once I enter sa credentials it is fine and shows up from there on in, but not if I log out of SAP and back in...then I have to put in my credentials again. Is this something having to do with the report when I make changes to it? I cant have users entering login info each time they run the new aging details report. Please advise what I may be doing wrong when I make changes to a crystal report. It was a very minor change....just moved a feild width.

  • How to link to Fathercard Name in Crystal reports

    Hello all,
I have a Crystal report that gives me all open sales orders with down pmts. It works fine.
Since I use BP consolidation, I have the report sorting by parent BP, then child BP number.
If the detail line is for the Child BP, I want to display both its Cardname, and the Fathercard BP name. Since there is no field in the ORDR file for Fathercardname, I tried adding the OCRD table (a second time), and setting a link from the ORDR Fathercard to the OCRD CardName. That just causes it to exclude any Parent BP orders.
Is there a way to directly read or create a formula to pull the name from OCRD using the fathercard as a key?
thanks for any help on this.
    Bob

    Julie,
I tried the additional table instance of OCRD and did a link from the OCDR Fathercard -> OCRD_1 Cardcode fields (and removed all the other auto-links it created).
This does make it pull in the correct name from the OCRD file using the Fathercard as the key. But it excludes all the parent BP transactions just like before. The underlying SQL query is doing the default Inner join, and since parent sales orders don't have a fathercard, they are excluded (it seems).
So I found that in the Crystal link options you can change the join types, and changed it from Inner to a Left outer join.
This did allow it to pull in both parent and child sales orders that I expected.
I had some grouping issues that I needed to correct, but now it shows everything perfectly.
    thanks!
    Bob

  • Access DB (& .ldb file) does not close after crystal reports

    Post Author: mgold
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Access DB (& .ldb file) does not close after crystal reports
Hi! We have a VB application using Crystal Reports 6 that has worked successfully on hundreds of systems for over 10 years. Now, on one network, the application and access database does not close. It seems to hang on the [.Close] command.
When we open the application an peruse the screens without opening up a report (using crystal reports), the application and access db closes fine. But as soon as we run a report and then close the report and try to close the application, the access db does not close. Many of the screens open the db and grab data from the access db, but it's only after running crystal reports that we have this problem. (Please see more information below.)
Setup: Application and data (access 97 db) reside on a server in the same folder, but application shortcut is kicked off on client PC. Kicking off the shortcut on the client PC means that the image/process runs on the client PC (not on the server). In this problem case, the application shortcut is on a Windows XP Pro Version 2002 SP2 PC with the app & data on a Windows 2003 server. Users are local Admins on their PCs with "Full Control"over the directory and files on the server where the data (access 97 db) resides. This type of setup is typical and has worked without any problems for clients.
The application is written in Visual Basic, using Crystal Reports 6 (using DAO). We close the recordset, set it to zero and then it hangs on closing the db (.Close command).
A few key pieces of information:
    - The application closes fine if the app & data (access 97 db) are on a local PC. This includes closing fine if the application is run directly on the Windows 2003 server where the data is stored.
    - It worked on this client's network until sometime in the last few weeks.
    - One thing that changed is that the company is using VMWare on its servers. Not sure if they started using VMWare at the same time as it started failing. This may be unrelated. Possibly other things changed, but can't get any more information ... yet.
    - It works fine running the application from a Windows Vista PC with a user who is a domain admin.
    - The access db and application hang for about 10-20 minutes and then eventually closes. It appears that somehow
Crystal Reports is keeping the db open, but I'm not sure why.The application doesn't quit and the database doesn't close even if I try to end the task with the Task Manager.
    - The Crystl32.ocx version being used is 8.0.0.4 (if that matters).
    - I copied 6 month old program files and database files to a test folder on the Windows 2003 server. It fails using these files that worked fine 6 months ago.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated! If you know of another good place to post this, please let me know.
    Thanks!
    - Mark

Crystal doesn't support tables in HTML interpretation.
You can probably work your way around this by doing Replace() calls on the relevant tags.
    See:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_erq/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333233313337333033383334%7D.do
    The supported HTML tags are:
    " html
    " body
" div (causes a paragraph break)

  • Crystal report preview window freezes if I push any key on the keyboard

our system is a pretty old one, and we are still using crystal report 7 and vc6(mfc6).
It is a simple dialog based application with a button and a flex grid7.1 component on it.
when the button is clicked, a crystal report preview window will be opened and become the active window.
the problem is that, when i pushed a key on the keyboard ('a' for example) the whole application will freeze, and CPU Occupancy Rate is 100%.
but if I switch the dialog to be current active window after a preview window opened, keyboard input won't make the application freeze.
It seems that crystal report preview window don't know how to deal with the keyboard input.
    BTW:
I use the methods below to open a preview window.
    PEOpenEngine
    PEOpenPrintJob
    PEPrintReport
have anyone here met any similiar problems before?
    I really need your help.
    thanks in advance.

Moved to Legacy Application Development SDKs forum.
I have nothing for you, other than; consider upgrading - after all CR 7 shipped in 1998(!). I don't know what OS you are on, but I suspect what ever OS it is, it was not even in a concept stage of thought when CR 7 shipped. E.g.; this may be an OS issue more than anything else.
BTW., print engine APIs were retired in version 9 of Crystal Reports. At this time, your best option is to upgrade to CR 2008 (12.0)and use .NET or Java. If you are using VB 6 or equivalent, you could still upgrade to CR XI r2 (11.5) and use the Report Designer Component (RDC). However, note that CR XI r2 will be out of support in June of this year. And CR XI R2 is the last version of CR to include the RDC.
