Crystal Reports XI with Oracle 10.1

Hi,
I am trying to connect to an Oracle database to report from. it is version 10.1.0.5i have Oracle Instant Client 10.1.0.4 and the corresponding odbc that came with it.From within crystal reports i am getting very odd results when connecting to the oracle database.if i log in via odbc, i see only some of the tables and some of those tables are under different users. Also, most of the views are not available, the ones that are, are not distinguished from the tables, ie views and tables appear in the "tables" list.if i log in via the oracle native client i can see all the tables and views, but again they are not broken into a "Views" and "Tables" list.when i do get the view i require, it intermittantly returns data and takes a very long time. If i run the same view in TSQL, it processes fast and returns many records. I can copy and paste the crystal SQL into TSQL and the correct data is returned, but in crystal i get 0 records, if it returns at all. I am logging onto the Oracle server as the same user for both ODBC and Oracle native.I am currently trying updating the Oracle Instant Client to v10.1.0.5 to match the server. your id may not have rights to all the oracle tables, if you are the oracle admin, you can correct that, if not, someone will need to do that for you.  If the oracle db is not indexed, indexing will help speed up retrieves.  (index by a time stamp, or customer number if available)  Check your db options in CR to see if (Group on server) is checked.  Are the views just plain old views, or are they doing something wonderfull (I have views that call functions that produce data) these views do take some time to run.  Start by verifying that your ODBC Connection ID has rights to all the tables you need.....    Hope this helps.

    Hi Sandip,
    All you need is a 32-bit Oracle driver to be installed on the machine you're developing the reports on.
    If you already have both the 64-bit and the 32-bit drivers, make sure the Path variable under 'system variables' points to the 32-bit home.
    You can then either create an ODBC DSN or use the 'Oracle Server' native driver that shows under 'Database Expert' to create the report.

  • How to use oracle functions in Crystal Reports XI using Oracle Server

    Hi all,
    Is it possible  to use oracle functions in Crystal Reports XI using Oracle Server as Data Source.
    If i try to use a procedure,i am getting error with message "Invalid Arguement Provided".
    Functions are not visible objects like tables,views and stored procedures.
    The  jdbs driver i m using is oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.

    I think it is not possible to add functions in crystal directly for any database. You need to use those functions in a stored procedure and add that storedprocedure as a datasource.

  • Unknown Database Connector Error using Crystal Report XI with Windows 7

    My current configuration is:
    Windows XP Professional
    Crystal Reports XI Professional
    Oracle Client 10g
    This is working great, however we are switching to Windows 7 Professional and I need to get this same configuration working on the new machines.
    I have loaded Windows 7 Professional and Oracle Client 10g.  Oracle makes the data connection without any problems.  I loaded Crystal Reports XI Professional, but it will not connect to the Oracle database.  It keeps giving me the Unknown Database Connector error.  Can anyone assist me with this problem?  This is the final software package that is holding up the project.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 with BO Enterprise XI 3.1

    Hi All,
    We are in the process of implementing CR2008 with BO Enterprise XI 3.1.
    We have completed the installation successfully. We can connect from CR2008 client desktop directly to BI-7 using the BO SAP Connector. But We have the following issues,
    1) On CMC (OB Ent Server) we don't see any business object related roles in the list of values under the authorization. We see 3 J2EE related roles only.  We did everything according to the documentation. Changed JCO (sapjco.jar) along with the DLLs to various versions and even changed the 64bit to 32bit but no luck. Classpath is also set in Tomcat but still we don't see any of the BO related roles.
    2) We have created a connection to universe using Designer (BO Ent). But when we try to connect from CR2008 to universe though the Business Object Enterprise Server using the client desktops, we can only select the fields for the query. But when we try to confirm the query we get a message saying NOT LOGGED ON.
    Are we doing the right thing ? We have BI-7 installed on Windows 2003 (64 Bit Server) and BO Enterprise Server XI 3.1 and SAP Connector XI 3.1 Server was also installed on the same server. We have client desktops with Crystal Report 2008 with SAP Connector Client installed.
    What are we missing ?
    Appreciate if you could kindly help us to get this problem solved as this is dragging for a while now.

    I need your help in connecting both Forms 6i & Reports 6i with Oracle 10g Release 2 db, MS Access(2003, 2007) and SQL database(Microsoft Visual Studio 2008). I am a newbie. I have installed all of them on my HP notebook, with Windows 7 Ultimate(32 bit OS) installed. I want to generate forms & reports by accessing data from above mentioned databases.     First, I think it would be a good idea if we can understand why you have chosen to use a nearly new operating system yet install Oracle products that are 10 years old (i.e. Forms/Reports 6i) on it. In general, this is not a good idea. Although running such an old version on Win7 can be made to work, the possibility of having problems is likely. If you are infact new to the product, using a configuration where you are likely to have problems may not be a good starting place. Also, you should be aware that Forms/Reports 6i was desupported several years ago. Documentation and other information is gradually being replaced by newer information, so resources for this old version are going away. The latest version of Forms/Reports is part of Fusion Middleware 11R2 (version 11.1.2.0) and requires WebLogic Server 10.3.5 (or 10.3.6) in order to be installed.
    Second, if you decide to stick with F/R 6i, are you planning to run the applications you create in a browser or as a client/server application? This information is important because how you connect to a database will slightly differ depending on which option you choose. Also, if you want to connect to non-Oracle data sources you can use ODBC for client/server or Oracle Transparent Gateway. However, if you plan to deploy the applications using a browser, Gateway is your only option for connecting to non-Oracle datasources. As for connecting to MS Access, I believe ODBC is your only option, so web deployment may not be an option.

    As for connecting to an Oracle database, this is generally easy. For the Builder(s) and client/server runtime to connect, add the db information to the tnsnames.ora found in the Oracle Home (installation directory) \network\admin. If you are unfamiliar with what goes in the file you can copy the entries created for your database. The db will have a similar file found in a similar place in its installation directory (Oracle Home). For example, you might find something like this:
    ORCL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = YOURSERVER.COM)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    )Simply copy this information to the end of your tnsnames.ora found where Forms/Reports is installed then restart any running Forms or Builders.

  • How to integrate Crystal Report 2008 with java

    Currently we are using Crystal Report XI with our application, it is working fine. Now we are updating to Crystal Report 2008.
    We have build our application in enterprise archive file. There is a web archive file(.war) file in the EAR file which contains the crystal report. Inside the .war file we have reports folder which contain jsps and rpt folder. the jsps folder contains the crystalreportviewers12 folder and .jsp files. The rpt folder contain the.rpt files. The WEB-INF which is at the reports folder leavel contains the classes and lib folder.  The crystal report jars are in the lib folder and the CRConfig.xml file inside the classes folder.  I replaced all the crystal report jar with Crystal Report 2008 jars, modified the web.xml and the CRConfig.xml file accordingly. When I opened the report it gave me an error.
    When the following line was execuated in the jsp:

    Hello Ted,
    As per the samples in the link provided by you I identified that the following statement was missing.
    reportClientDocument.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
    After adding this statement the jsp was not able to compile, it gave me an error:
    ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString cannot be resolved
    Now my queries are:
    1. What is Report Application server(RAS)?
    2. Is it required to set Report application server in JSP page? It was not required in Crystal Reports XI. If YES, then how to configure RAS inside our applications WAR file?
    3. I am using WebSphere Application Server for deploying the WEB Archive file (WAR file). The Crystal Reports 2008  library (JARS) are embedded inside the WEB-INF/lib folder. How to specify the RAS server inside thhe WAR file? Is it some XML configuration file which we have to keep at WEB-INF level? Or we have to modify the existing CRConfig.xml file?
    4. I would like to mention here that we have bundled crystalreportviewers12/ folder in our WAR file at the same level where reports JSP pages exits.

    Hello,
    From the looks of things on MS web site about this product it appears it uses MS SQL Server. You should be able to create CR reports off of that DB using either ODBC or OLE DB. What tables to use I have no idea so you'll have to browse the database tables.
    To do so using OLE DB create a new report and select OLE DB and then select the server name where the MS server is installed, log in and then you'll be able to see the databases and tables. From there you are on your own.
    To use ODBC, Open the ODB Administrator in Control Panel and clcik on the System DSN tab and add a new DSN. Select MS SQL Server and the driver, enter in the log on info and select the default database.
    For more info I suggest you search Microsofts Forums on which database and tables to use.
