CS3 Photoshop RAW error

Hello,
I am using CS3 Photoshop Master Collection on a Vista and a Windows 7 computer's. I am unable to open RAW files due to the following error:
Could not complete your request because of a program error.
I am trying to open up a RAW file from a camera that is Nikon D3000. I am not actually on my computer typing this message but I am thinking both are 64 bit but they may be 32 bit. The RAW feature has never worked for me. The Nikon RAW files are actually NEF. Any help will be helpful. Thank you very much!
Marie

In photoshop open Help/plugins/camera raw.  There should be one version there, should be 4.6 or 7?, which is last version.
Most probloems with camera raw are that the ACR is in wrong folder, or there is more than one version in folder.  ACR does not go in the plug in folder.

using new raw images from canon G10
I can see them in cs3 bridge
but when I open them in CS3 Photoshop Extended
    error format not supported
    any help please

You have to upgrade to cs4 to get the raw format support you need. Either
that or use the latest version of the DNG converter to convert your raw
images to DNG files at which time you can then load them in to CS3.

  • Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw Update: unable to open Nikon D5200 Raw files

I have a Nikon D5200, so I cannot view my raw files (.NEF) files in photoshop CS3 and I downloaded the Camera Raw 4.6 update, and installed it using the manual installation instructions found here: Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Camera Raw 4.6 update. After restarting photoshop and attempting to open a .NEF file, I still receive the error "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document. I have also tried previous updates (4.5 and 4.4.1) and they have also not worked. How can I fix this?

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
The D5200 is supported in Camera Raw 7.3 and later. Older versions of Camera Raw cannot read D5200 Raw files.
Raw 7.3 is only compatible with CS6, CC or CC 2014
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
So you'll never be able to open Raw D5200 files in CS3.
Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?
Choices: buy CS6 or join the Cloud.
Free alternative: download the Adobe DNG converter, convert all D5200 Raw files to DNGs then open the DNGs in CS3

  • Opening iPhoto 8 JPG file with Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw editor

I have all my photos stored in my iPhoto 8 library. I have both RAW (CR2) and JPG images. iPhoto 8 opens the CR2 images with Photoshop Raw editor, but I want to use iPhoto to open JPG images with the Photoshop Raw editor using Camera Raw.
How do I do this without having to export JPG images and opening from Photoshop?
    Thanks!
    SP

    SP:
If you're trying to use the RAW editor on a jpg it can't be done. It will only work on the RAW file. If you are wanting to edit the RAW file from within iPHoto with CS3 then set CS3 to be the editor of choice in iPhoto's general preferences. Next go to the Advanced iPhoto preference pane and select the option "User RAW when using external editor". That will open the RAW file with Photoshop's raw editor. When you finish you MUST save the new file to the Desktop and import as a new file.
For some general info on using Photoshop with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • Twainbridge error when trying to install trial CS3 Photoshop

    Hi,
I downloaded the CS3 Photoshop from Adobe and I try to install it and I get this error message that installation can't continue because the Twainbridge must be closed. How do I fix this? Also where it the Twainbridge?
    Thanks,
    S.

    Niel,
Thanks, it worked great. The thing is what is the TwainBridge and why was it running? Is it alright I don't have it running? I looked on Yahoo and it says it has something to do with video (the Twainbridge).

  • PS CS3, Camera Raw 4.6 Update and Nikon D810 NEF File Reading Issue

      Currently Have Photoshop CS3 & Adobe Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9.
According to Adobe, Camera Raw 4.6 supports Nikon D810 NEF files.  I have downloaded Camera Raw 4.6 Update. When
I try to open Nikon D810 NEF files, I get Photoshop CS3  error that says
"cannot complete request your because it is not the right kind of
document. These NEF files wont open in Adobe Bridge at all.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hey,
Before I purchased, let me get your thoughts on another option that just occurred to me which involves:
1)Editing my D810 NEF files in LR 5.6, which I have, then exporting/saving the edited files as JPEGs.
    2) Doing any additional editing, as necessary (i.e. that might require layering or selections..etc) , with the JPEGs  with Bridge or PS CS3.
This method wont involve any additional software purchase now.. right?    Am I missing anything.   here?    Since my final output to my customers are JPEGs any way, wont this work?   Will I be at any disadvantage.   Am I missing anything.   here?

  • Raw Files from LR do not open automatically in Photoshop raw processor

I like to edit my images in Photoshop. Could you please advise why after I upload raw files into LR and using photoshop as external editor, the file opens but not in the PS (photoshop) raw processor. I have to work around this by first finding the image in windows explorer and dragging this file into PS. Shouldn’t the file open automatically in the PS raw processor ?

Are you using Photo > Edit in Photoshop (or Ctrl/Cmd+E)?
Are you getting any error messages? Does Photoshop open at all?

  • CS3 Photoshop Will Not Import .CR2 Files

I have tried countless updates and cannot seem to get Photoshop to import RAW files (.CR2) into the system. I receive the error message, "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this file type"
I am trying to import using the Merge HDR function on CS3 Photoshop, but it does not even do anything  when I click OK on the three RAW pictures i have selected.
Help please. I am using a Canon Rebel T1i
    Thanks

Photoshop CS3 doesn't have support for that camera. You'll either need to upgrade to CS5 or use the free DNG Converter to convert the raw files to DNG files that can be opened with CS3.

  • CS3 Photoshop will not load images

I have just recently run into a problem with my CS3 Photoshop. When I try to go through File> Open and choose a .jpg .gif and even .psd file I get an error message saying: ' could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.'
When I open in Illustrator there is no issue. Or when I go directly to the file and use Open with, then direct it to Photoshop it opens fine.  However, if I need to open another image file I get the error message again. What can I do with this?

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Cannot get CS3 photoshop on my mac os10 to open my canon rebel T1i .CR2 files

I have spent hours downloading a variety of stuff and still cannot get  CS3 photoshop on my mac os10 to open my canon rebel T1i .CR2 files. I  have downloaded the Camera Raw 4.6 plugin. Photoshop acknowledges that  is the version installed. But it won't recognize the .CR2 file type.  When I say show me all files, the files show up in the open file dialog,  and the thumbnails look right, but when I open the file it is munged. I  also installed the DNG Converter, which also does not recognize the  .CR2 files.
Has anyone figured this out yet? It has been almost a year. I don't want to upgrade to CS4 or 5 or buy Lightroom.

The Adobe DNG Converter 6.2 will open your files, if you have an uncorrupted download and use it properly.  No doubt about that.
Once you launch it, be sure to target a folder containing raw files, not the raw files themselves.  At least on the Mac, the DNG Converter works on folders, not on individual files.
Alternatively, you can try dragging and dropping the individual raw files onto the DNG Converter icon.
Some routine maintenance may be overdue on your Mac, such as Repairing Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility, running Onyx or Cocktail, etc.

  • OS10.9.2 on an Intel Mac CS3 Photoshop says on startup 'licensing for product has stopped working.'

Using OS 10.9.2 on an Intel Mac, my CS3 Photoshop says . licensing for this product has stopped working.' I've reinstalled and attempted to use the fix in the Adobe website. However the fix will not work on an Intel Mac only a G5.

For Intel Macs running 10.7 and above, there is a python script that you copy and paste into Terminal. Have you tried it?

  • Indesign CS3 report an error only for one of mac accounts

When I open Indesign CS3 it get a message that sounds like "error report has been generated..." and so on.
    I've already uninstalled ed re-installed Adobe CS3
    Photoshop and Illustrator works normally.
I think it's a mac account problem because launching Indesign fron another one it works!
    Thanks

Did you try resetting the prefs? Hold cmd-opt-shift-control as you boot it. If it gets far enough to ask if you want to delete the InDesign preferences files, tell it to do so.
If it crashes before you can reset the prefs, try flushing the caches on the machine with something like Onyx (or whatever cache management app you prefer).

  • CS3 Photoshop will suddenly not initialize

I've been using all parts of my CS3 Design Standard Suite for years, when suddenly Photoshop would not open. The reason given is "Could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available." I am on an iMac running Yosemite and have successfully used all parts of CS3 since the upgrade. Of course, it's been so long since I've needed the install disks, I can't find find them, now!
I haven't seen anyone posting about this here, but if you have run into this or think you know how to fix it, please help.
Oddly, I have a stand alone version of CS3 Photoshop that I tried to load and it won't install, either. When I put the disk in the Installer doesn't open, so I tried using the Setup. It tries to initialize, but tells me "Start up error. Required resources are missing." Can anyone help me with that one? Is there a connection between these problems?
I'm concidering buying CS4 Design Standard, but I'm afraid that whatever is causing these problems will stop me from upgrading.
    thanks for any help!

Well, I since figured out that by "disk" they mean scratch disk, so I simply changed the location and I can now open Photoshop. But why the location I've been using (an external drive) suddenly became unavailable, I still do not understand. Just a glitch? Or something I did without knowing? If you have any clues, I'd be interested to learn.
