CS4 Deploy

Hi,
I have setup everything on my system to deploy CS4 automatically via a script. When the system restarts it starts to install and seems to complete properly but when i log in i don't have flash, dreamweaver or fireworks installed. OTher programmes are installed but not the ones i actually need! I tried logging in as admin and ran the batch file manually and it all installed properly, can anyone think of a fix for this?
Many Thanks

Hi John,
It's only what they tell you to do in the guide, with a rule to check if it's installed so the install doesn't keep running.
If not exist "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\Dreamweaver.exe" "\\server\Deployment\AdobeCS4\Adobe CS4\setup.exe" --mode=silent "--deploymentFile"="\\server\Deployment\AdobeCS4\Adobe CS4\install.xml"
But as i say when it's being deployed like this i don't get the full package for some reason?

  • CS4 Deployment tool kit question

Hello, Upon creating the AdobeUberInstaller.xml file via CS4 deployment toolkit, the execution of AdobeUberInstaller.exe returns exit code 7.
The toolkit error table describes it as "silent workflow failed". Is there more info on this error. ALso are there any detail guides (other then the one that came with deployment toolkit) out there?
    Thanks,
    Nick

Thanks for the info. Will wait a few more days and reinstall It. Funny though that all is ok on my desktop and not ok on my laptop. Both use Vista Home Premium. Have Mozilla 18.0 on both, too. Thank you madperson.

  • CS4 Deployment via ARD

I have follwed the cs4 deployment instructions
this works fine locally, i.e if i copy the cs4 media to the users desktop and also the AdobeUberInstaller and then run it.
however i then shared the cs4 media from my machine using afp
followed the command of users/desktop/cs4/AdbobeUberInstaller -server=afp://my ip address/adobe cs4 Master collection -user=my username for the share -password=my password for the afp share
this did not work, i get error code -1
now i know there is something wrong wth the network share path or command.
but i can mount this share using the command line (mount volume command)but the installer still does not run.
if anyone could help, that would be most excellent
    thanks

  • CS4 Deployment Toolkit, Flash Pro wrong serial number

Im using the CS4 Deployment toolkit to create the unnattend install files for Flash Pro CS4. I have copied the contents of the DVD upto a network share. After typing in the serial number when asked, i get a red X to say that it is incorrect. However, if I install Flash Pro CS4 off the DVD itself the serial number is correct.
I have not had this problem with any of the other CS4 products that I have done so far.
    Any ideas as to why?
    Cheers

I've got the exact same issue with CS4 Web Premium. Adobe's got another winner with the CS4 installer.

  • CS4 Deployment

Is there any way to include the Adobe updates downloaded from the adobe site within a deployment?
I am deploying the suite via the Adobe CS4 deployment kit and from a local payload on a server. The updates are ones downloaded from the Adobe site all still ziped up. Can i some how put these into a updates folder within the payload so they are installed during the suite installation? Or must we run all of the installs afterwards manually or using a script?
    Thanks for the help.

I'm playing with the same situation and have not been able to get both the GUI and the serial number passed in.
I think we're going to have to just give them the UberInstaller, which as someone pointed out is ludicrously unprotected, and they get what they're given. All or nothing. It seems like a complete waste though, that there's an entire CS4 Deployment Kit, and it's limited to a single deployment method.
Acrobat 9.0 is far far worse, though. It's COMPLETELY undeployable, since only Acrobat itself is able to update the license database with the serial number. There is NO way to deploy Acrobat Pro 9.0 for Mac and have it:
    a) not ask for admin access
    b) not ask for serial number
    c) work
Personally, I regard that as unacceptable, particularly considering CS3 and CS4 became a lot easier to manage, but they steadfastly refuse to bring all their apps up to standard. Which effectively negates their standard. I've spent upwards of 4 months trying to package it and make it deployable, but it's just not possible If it was up to me, I'd ditch Acrobat in a big filthy gutter and spit on it, but that's just me. BTW, I did call Adobe Support on this, and they wouldn't help me. The manual drag-install is the only (non-)solution they offer.

Is there a native Swedish Illustrator? Mhh. If so, perhaps setting the default language and install language accordingly might do the trick. Otherwise of course setting those to en_US should at least give you a working English install...

  • CS4 deployment kit - created installer fails

Hi I've used the deployment kit to create a Uberinstaller, but it keeps failing with the following message in the log:

I see there is an issue with the language pack. I'm not sure how it en_GB isn't supported. Is this an OS feature or am I missing somthing in the installer package?
    Thanks in advance.

I've had similar frustrations with the Deployement Toolkit. I created a network location for the installation files used the toolkit to create the installer. It lookes like an application is created that reads the xml script for installation details. The problem I'm having is that installer runs silently, and you don't know when it completes, but I give it 2 hours just to be sure. The major flaw is that the Photoshop is not being installed. The only changes I made were to not install the Bridge server. I'm tempted to make a full blown installation and see if I can get Photoshop to successfully install. I'm using CS4 Design Premium site licensing and I need to install this on dozens of computers. Close is not good enough I'm afraid. Didn't adobe test this a little better? Apparently they are expecting the client's to test this software for them. Grrr! I'll try some more and post any successes. I'm looking through the technotes now for clues.

  • Adobe CS4 Deployment - Mocha Issue

    Hi
I'm deploying Adobe CS4 Masters Collection to 250 machines. I've followed through the Deployment Toolkit and have managed to get the suite installed on a test machine.
The only problem i'm having is, when you launch 'Mocha for After Effects' it prompts for Registration details.  I was hoping there might be a way to disable this screen however, i've tried googling and have drawn a blank.
Is there any way to either disable this screen or is there a tweak I can use to trick it into thinking it's already registered and so, does not prompt the user ?
    Thanks a lot

  • CS4 Deployment Issue

I've created a network share point with volume license media. I've created the install.xml and the remove.xml files and placed them in the root of the install folder. I've also created the application.xml.override file and placed it in the AdobeDesignSuiteStandard4-mul folder. All three files are saved in the proper format. When I try and run an install from the command line, it prompts for the serial number which I'm assuming means its not parsing the xml files. I've searched everywhere for someone with a similar issue with no luck. I'm guessing it has to be something simple as everyone is saying how easy it is, but I'm not finding it. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tim

I'm having the same problem. It appears that the installer is ignoring my "application.xml.override" file. I even tried renaming it to "application.override.xml" because Adobe's doc makes one reference to this, which I assume is a typo. I'm going to check out AppDeploy.

  • CS4 Installation/Deployment Problem

    Hello All,
I am new to the forum so I want to thank you in advance for any help you might be able to provide.
I have been given the task of deploying CS4 Enterprise to our organization.  Using the process described in the CS4 Deployment guide I made install.xml and uninstall.xml files for all of the applications in the suite.
I can install any one application using the deploymentFile in silent mode.  (Been doing it from command line for testing).  Anyway, once one app is successfully installed on any given machine, I will always get an Error and an Exit Code of 7 when trying to install any subsequent CS4 application.
Hoping to figure out what was going on I ran it again without the --mode=Silent switch and found that the problem is not with the xml.override file, as eula is suppressed and the serial key is being added automatically.  The problem is that it seems like the installer is ignoring the install.xml deployment file, as I am being prompted to pick which applications I wish to install from the custom install menu.  Obviously this is what is causing the interruption to the silent workflow.
Has anyone ever experienced this?  I can't figure it out.  Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    mb

I'm also having issues with Design Standard and getting the same exit code 7.
We have a bunch of people using the seperate CS products and I've managed to sucessfully set them up but the Design Studio and Web Permium installs seem to be causing me some issues.
Can you please post a step-by-step of what you did for the Design Standard install?
I've run through the install using --record and created the insta.xml and remove.xml files.
    I've created the override file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Configuration>
    <Payload>
    <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data>
    <Data key="EULA">-1</Data>
    <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data>
    </Payload>
    </Configuration>
An placed it in the payloads\AdobeDesignSuiteStandard4-mul folder and run the correct install command.
    \\serverpath\setup.exe --mode=silent --deploymentFile=\\serverpath\install.xml
Things seem to be kicking off the install fine then just stop after about 4-6 minutes with the exist code 7.
My install command line uses UNC paths, is this likley to cause an issue?
    Any help would be great.

  • CS4 Suite (all Windows versions) - documentation of XML and pre-configuration of components?

With a view to packaging and deploying CS4 in Microsoft enterprise environments (ie GPO restricted desktops, mandatory user profiles, non-administrative user base, at or near minimum spec hardware) I was wondering if anyone was aware of any documentation, official or otherwise, for pre-configuration or omission of individual components within the CS4 suite in order to more specifically tailor their operation to user requirements.  Eg, such as the way Adobe provide a transform generator/editor for Acrobat in its standalone form.
The instructions for performing silent installs with or without the more major components (such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop etc) work fine, and the Adobe CS4 Deployment Toolkit (aka AdobeUberInstaller) deals with a number of omissions in the base installer such ELUA and updates suppression.  However there are various options within the applications themselves I would like to change the defaults for at install time (eg suppress Adobe Bridge from prompting to run at startup, address Acrobat's refusal to run until another element of the suite has been run first etc), patches I would like to slipstream rather than apply retrospectively (currently Air, Indesign, Photoshop), and some elements (such as foreign language components and 64bit support) I would ideally like to omit from the source package altogether to keep the size down - 6GB+ to 500 clients is quite an ordeal!
Web resources such as application deployment forums have allowed me to address some of the above, but I would be very interested in the feedback/experiences of this community.  I appreciate what I'm asking is somewhat vague but any crumbs of wisdom all add up...
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    Bill

The best is to get the versions in which you have developed/tested. These can be found in MAX under Software, if it is possible provide a link to the NI ftp download URL.
Then export the settings in MAX (for tasks/scales) if you use them and provide a simple app that loads these items into MAX.
For RIO I'm not totally sure but I would create 'Getting started' that outlines what settings (IP/DNS etc.) to get the user started.

  • Help Again: uninstall/repair Photoshop in CS4

As suggested a month ago, I inserted installer, but no where is there an "options screen" from which to > "custom detail>PS4 repair.  On the installer is : Adobe CS4: deployment, extensions, payloads, redist, resources, WinBootstrapper Setup.exe ;  then a folder for Autoplay, and single Autoplay.exe, AUTORUN. INF and 3 versions of CS4 Design Standard read me, and unicows.dll.
    That's it.
What do I do now?.  As previously stated, PS and my photo printer have issues, and tech strongly blamed PS for the spooling problem and I'd like to try to "repair" PS, but how do I?
And next, Read Me suggests a simple "uninstall" from Vista by way of Control Panel, but next, if I did that, how would I reinstall just PS after that?  <sigh>
Appreciate the help. Haven't been able to get to this problem 'till now, and I wait with baited breath to get all playing nice again.....
Update 2: Nuts. I just did a check on Control Panel and Adobe CS4 Design Standard is all one thing.  Looks like I'd have to remove all and then reinstall all again. Right?
So there goes, InDesign, Illustrator, Bridge, Acrobat 9 and Media Player.  That's a mess. It'll take me a lot of time to check and resave all work from those other 5 programs. There must be a better way to do this, is there?  Hope I''ve missed something...................thanks so much....mm..

Microsoft XPS is similar in concept to Adobe PDF.  You can Print to an XPS file using the Microsoft XPS writer.
Unfortunately, the XPS Viewer seems to be a Windows 7 improvement, so it might not be quite so simple for you to try to use XPS format.  I just tried it on one of my Vista systems, and I was able to open an XPS file in Internet Explorer.  What I don't know is whether if you do this you can get anything like what you want with your borderless printing using this process:
    1.  Print to the Microsoft XPS Writer.
    2.  Save the .xps file in a temporary folder.
    3.  Double-click the .xps file from within Explorer.
    4.  In whatever app opens, File - Print.
In Windows 7, step 2 leaves you with the Microsoft XPS Viewer open, and you could print to a real printer directly from there, so it would be a much more direct process.  It's been a while since I used Vista daily and I hadn't recalled exactly what XPS features were available in Vista.

  • Silent install using the MSI and incorporating the activation

    Good Morning,
I am trying to do a silent install of contribute for SCCM 2007 using the MSI and although the install works i can't figure out how to get the activation and registration silent as well.
I have tried using admin stuido (SCCM version) and adding the registry keys but that is not working.
Does anyone have any idea how this can be done?
I appreciate any help you can give me.
    Thanks,

In case you are deploying CS5, then I would suggest you to refer the Creative Suite Enterprise Deployment Guide -
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html
The Deployment Guide would provide you with information on how to supress these behaviours.
The above page also has a similar guide for CS4 deployment as well and also the links to download the Adobe Deployment Toolkits.
    Hope this helps .

  • Adobe CS5 and Growl

Here is some information about Growl and CS5. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/840/cpsid_84093.html
Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition (AAMEE) for CS5 will have the ability to not install Growl on client machines. AAMEE is the CS5 version of the CS4 Deployment Toolkit.
AAMEE will be available as a free download on May 28th 2010. There is a check box to disable Registration in AAMEE.Disabling registration will prevent Growl from being installed.
    Thanks, Adobe CS team

Growl is simply a harmless notification system - it can be configured to show a message on screen when something happens. What kind of things? When you receive and email, when an app finishes exporting or rendering that sort of thing.
Some software manufacturers have taken to adding growl to their own installs - as Adobe have in this case - and while it does no harm it's a bit presumptuous on their part. The makers of Growl are somewhat innocent in the matter.
They have a page on the matter here
    http://growl.info/thirdpartyinstallations.php
with details of how to remove it. They also link to Adobe's "apology".
