CS4 won't open Fuji FinePix S5Pro RAW
I should have all the Adobe updates as I have it set to automatically get updates including the RAW editors. I don't know how to check what is currently installed.
CS4 won't recognize RAW files from the Fuji S5Pro. Other posters have recommended closing Adobe Bridge on similar discussion threads, but how do I see if Bridge is open? It isn't in my task bar or my task manager.
This is a Windows PC, not a Mac. I am running Windows 7.
Thank you for your assistance.
You should be able to open those files, even with the camera raw plugin that shipped with photoshop cs4.
(camera raw 5.7 is the newest camera raw plugin for photoshop cs4)
If in photoshop cs4, you go to Help>About Plug-ins and click on the words Camera Raw, what version does it say?
Is your windows 7 an 32 or 64 bit system?

Tif won't open in Adobe Camera Raw editor
Photo tif file won't open in Adobe Camera Raw editor from Adobe Bridge - but it will open into Photoshop. Seems tifs WILL open into raw editor IF they have not been edited in Adobe Photoshop. Its like working on the tif in Photoshop makes the file un-openable in raw editor. This seems to be a new problem since I upgraded from cs4 on a PC to cs5 on a Mac.
Thanks for that tip, Jeff, I appreciate it!

I installed Lion and now CS4 won't open. I get a note that sayd "you need to install Java runing, but you are not connected to the internet (BUT I AM CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET). It goes on to say "to install Java runtime later, open "Adobe Illustrator CS4" again....I try but it still won't let me open Adobe Illustrator or update Java

Can anyone help me understand why PPro CS4 won't open all of a sudden?
I've tried rebooting, not sure what happened in the last 12 hours.
I assume i'll have to reinstall the software, but does anyone know why this happens?Do you have SoundFlower installed?
Do you have a lot of VST's installed?
Those are two things that can affect the launch of a couple of Adobe programs. This ARTICLE (though written for the PC), might offer some things to ponder.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - there are some similar threads, where Mac users have had to do something with their log-in. They did not have to really modify things, IIRC, but just open up the control console for it. Wish I could give you more details, but I'm a PC-guy. There are maybe three threads recently. -
Photoshop CS4 won't open RAW files
Photoshop CS4 will not open RAW (.CR2) files. I have tried what is listed on Adobe's website (checking versions, uninstalling, reinstalling). Nothing has worked. It still gives me the error message: "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
I am using CS4 on a 10.6.6 Mac OS with a Canon Rebel XS. I currently have Camera Raw 5.7 installed.
Does anyone have any answers ?
Thank you,
TeresaThe CAT.CR2 file that was posted is from a 1000D that does not have sRAW capabilities. Comparing the ExifTool data and the camera specifications, there should have been a small-sized preview JPG image and a large-sized RAW image in the file, but the file was truncated after the top-left quadrant of RAW data was written:

Bridge CS4 won't open to Photoshop CS5 out of Camera Raw?
I use Bridge CS4 because I prefer it to bridge CS5 but when I edit images in ACR in bridge cs4 and click 'Open Image' I want it to open automatically in PS CS5 and instead it opens always into PS CS4. In preferences>file type associations, everything is set to CS5 so I don't know how to direct opening images from ACR to open in photoshop CS5 not CS4. I've had it working on a different system but I don't remember what I did to get it to work.
Uh huh...and why would you expect CS5 to open the image from Bridge CS4? You haven't stated why you are trying to use Bridge CS4, but as you've found out, that is not an optimal solution....(BTW, troubleshooting 101 dictates that you at least mention what platform and OS you are using).

PREMIERE CS4 won't open my recent projetcts!! 3rd time ...
It's the third time now that I cannot open a saved file... I save incremently the different versions of our 26 minutes animated project.
I have no idea when/why it started - around once a month (the past 3 months) I open PREMIERE, open my latest file, and the progress bar hangs ...
I click cancel - ... then need to force quit PREMIERE... each time if I try to open an auto saved version with the same name I get the same result... lets's say I want to open #78 ... and it won't open ... then I try with #78-1, -2, -3 , -4 and -5 .. same thing ...
I try version #77 ... and the saved versions .. same problem ... version 76 opened...
I lost 2 days ...
last time Iost 2 days of work and tried 1 day to understand what happened ... used XML wrench ... did everything that is possible to try and make sense ... but here I am ... with a project that has 1600 to 1700 medias...
I regret I did not listen to people who proposed their FCP station ...
... we started the production 3 years ago (animation is a long process) with CS3 and it seemed to work well...
last year we upraded to CS4 .. and here I am really frustrated - I am even ready to pay to go back to CS3... or pay even more to go to FCP...
.. it is possible that something I did made this happen ... I work on 2 different setups: one is XP32 pro - 3.5 g ram - on a XW 8400 dual XEON 3ghz, the other setup is a DELL workstation - 8 g ram - same dual cpu 3ghz (5160) - and XP64.
WE use AE, PSD and PREMIERE. everything works fine ( never managed to have the open GL quadro 3500 cards work properly in AEthou on both machines) but PREMIERE... I am tired and feel tarpped as I will need to keep using premiere knowing that I may lose some more days of work...
sigh ...
lucHi Dennis,
Throw
away your preference files - user folder/my documents/Adobe/Premiere
Pro/ Take the 4.0 folder and drag it to your desktop. Or just throw
it away. When PRemiere Pro launches again, it will create a new one.
Just tried it ... same behaviour ... progress bar stalls .. .
yeasterday evening I installed the PPro trial on my macbook - under OSX ... and the progress bar goes a bit further ... for a moment I believed I recovered my file.. but now - still waited for over one hour, as the machine was not frozen ... but nothing more happened and I needed to force quit the app...
I saw something about big projects - the biggest thing I can recommend (STRONGLY!)
is to have a 64bit OS and lots of memory. This has made a big
difference for many customers. 64-bit goodness is the future and CS4
makes use of greater memory addressing to allow it to see more than 4GB
of memory on a 64bit Os.
Yes ... this is my only real hope ... Both the computer I work on are now 64 bits/8 gig of ram - one is W7 (was xp64 before) , the other is XP64 (was xppro 32)
... it is possible that the 32 bit machine is (was) the culprit...
... and maybe the anounced 4.2 PPro upgrade may resolve whatever problem I have ...?
I'll try to read more later and get back with any other suggestions.
Thanks a lot ! any help is gtreatly apreciated !
regards !
luc the Luke!
Regards,
Dennis (Denis in French) -
CS4 won't open TIFF with IBM PC Byte order
When our team tries to open images saved as TIFFs with a Byte order for IBM PC with Photoshop CS4, we get an error message that we do not have enough RAM to open the image.
We then opened the image on a machine running Photoshop CS2 with no problem, resaved the TIFF with a Macintosh Byte order and that seemed to fix the problem.
Is this a glitch that Adobe is aware of and will it be fixed in any upcoming updates?I know of one bug like that, reading PackBits compressed images (the bug is very rare).
But if you could send me a copy of the file that won't open, I'll take a look and see if it might be a problem we don't know about. -
Indesign CS4 won't open or create new files. Why???
I'm using Indesign CS4 and all of a sudden it won't open old files or creat new ones. I've restarted
my machine and program and it still won't do anything. Any ideas? What sort of recent changes have you made on the system?
What happens when you try to open files or create new ones? What OS? IS ID patched to 6.0.6?
Have you tried trashing the prefs? See Replace Your Preferences -
I cannot get Photoshop CS4 Extended to open raw CR2 files from my Canon 5D MkIII. Adobe Bridge will not open a thumbnail, either. The same files open fine in Lightroom 5.6. I am working with Windows 7 Pro and Intel Core i7 on a Dell Vostro.
CS4 use an old version of ACR if your canon is a newer model you will have to download the ACR 8.6 and DNG Converter then create DNG files for your CR2 files and process the DNG with the CS 4 version of ACR.
Your other option is to subscribe to the cloud and use a newer Photoshop. $10 a month.... -
D600 .NEF files won't open in CS5 Camera Raw?
.NEF files taken on my new Nikon D600 won't open in CS5 Bridge Camera Raw.
Error Message: The Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in did not recognise the format of one or more files."
.NEF files taken with the Nikon D90 are opening perfectly.
There must be plug-ins available - I just can't seem to find them. Can someone send a link please?
I am working on a Mac
URGENT help please - I have a whole wedding to edit!D600 raw files only open in CS6/ACR7.3. You need to upgrade your Photoshop. http://www.adobe.com/photoshop/
An alternative is to use the free DNG Converter to convert your NEFs to DNGs and those will open in older ACR versions. Another alternative is to get Lightroom 4.3. -
Shared Content InDesign Plugin for InDesign CS4 won't open file
Yesterday I discontinued using Adobe CC and went back to using my Adobe InDesign CS4. CS4 is working OK but there is ONE file that won't open. I get the message "Shared Content InDesign Plugin is currently not available on your system". The file will not open. Is there a workaround or how do I get the required plugin?
You get that error when the file was saved in CS5 or later. You can find out the version using the script at Adobe Forums: [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File.
You'll need to export the file to .idml from the newer version to be able to open it in CS4. This is something I normally offer to do, but I'm not available for at least a week, so perhaps one of our other regulars can step up and volunteer. -
Illustrator CS4 won't open any files since installing CS6
Every since I installed CS6, whenever I try to open files in Illustrator (all files, not just the new downsaved from CS6 files), the program goes into "Not Responding" and I can't do anything until I crash out. It also will not let me create new files.
I've tried deleting my Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings folder as I saw suggested in another discussion, but it did not help.
Since my CS6 trial is ending soon and I'm not sure about upgrading yet, I really need my CS4 to be functional.
I'm running WIndows Vista 64 bit. Never had any problems with Illustrator before this.
Any suggestions?Ok, so I uninstalled Illustrator CS4, ran the CS Cleaner Tool, which messed up all my other CS4 programs, reinstalled the whole CS4 Suite, and Illustrator CS4 STILL won't open files (or allow me to create new ones). I only have two days left on my CS6 trial and I'm not sure if I'm upgrading right away, so I really need to figure out a way to make my AI CS4 work soon!

DW CS4 [part of a Master Suite Collection] ... Windows 7 ... won't open without renaming configuration folder as 'old' ... happens everytime, and have to wait while DW loads site cache files. Is there a permanent fix?
If you have to keep remaking a new configuration folder you have 1 of 2 issues. Either a permissions issue or a corrupt user profile. Have you tried making a new user account on the computer? If that works, the simplest solution is just to start using the new profile and bring over other settings as necessary minus the Adobe settings.
