CS5 & Lightroom 5.3

I need to do a complete restore on my laptop.  I have both CS5 and Lightroom 5.3, would I be able to download both of these programs after I do the restore?  I cannot find my CS5 software and my Lightroom was a download.

  • Photoshop CS5/Lightroom 3 integration issue - "Edit Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" does not work

When clicking "Edit Copy with Lightoomroom Adjustments" from Lightroom, I get an error in Lightroom 3 complaining that the Camera Raw plug-in is not up to date; full message below.
"This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 6.1 for full compatibility.
Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3. If raw file support for your camera was introduced after Camera Raw 4.6, the Photoshop integration features in Lightroom require Photoshop CS4 and the latest Camera Raw version 5 plug-in.
The version of Camera Raw plug-in currently installed is 0.0."
After I click "Open Anyways", Photoshop CS5 is initiated but it seems to have lost context of why it is opened and asks me what file I want to open (i.e. the Open As dialog).
"Edit Copy" and "Edit Original" from Lightroom 3 works as expected and opens images fine in Photoshop, CS5 however.
My installation is on Windows 7. I currently also have Lightroom 1.4 and Photoshop CS3 installed. Everything worked fine with the old configuration. I also tried the same workflow in Lightroom 1.4 again just now, which is now linked to CS5 instead of CS3. The "Edit Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" also work just fine.
Things that I have tried but do not worked:
I did an Update via the Help -> Update menu, and also manually downloaded the Camera Raw 6.1 plug-in.
Blew away the Photoshop preferences file
Made sure that Lightroom 3 points to Photoshop for editor
I'm thinking that I'll try uninstall CS3 next. Anyone else encountered this issue?

[CS5.1 (12.1) ACR 6.5RC / LR 3.5RC; MacbookPro 4gb Leopard 10.5.8 ] As a Lightroom instructor, up until now this has been a vexxing problem to explain to my students. Even if ACR in Photoshop is up to date (I just downloaded 6.5RC and installed the PS Plugin), I still get the error when attempting to edit from Lightroom 3.5RC. I deleted the PS prefs file to no avail. I was not willing to re-install Photoshop as a solution (per some blog's suggestion), although that might be the ultimate answer. But what an ordeal if so!
For a solution, I went back to a resolution I devised when I had a CS3 compatibility problem with LR3. I went into the Preferences of Lightroom and manually chose the Photoshop app as the "custom" image editor. I went back to edit the file in PS from Lightroom and the ACR error disappeared. Try it. Yes, this means you need to use the Custom editor as your image editor, but it seems to have resolved the issue.

  • How do I use CS5, Lightroom 5 & PSE11 with Windows 8?

I am about to purchase a new Windows 8 64 bit computer. I own copies of PhotoShop CS5 and PSE10 (also PSE11, not used yet) and want to buy and run Lightroom 5 once I have the new computer. Your website says CS5 is not Windows 8 compatible What are my options?

If you check the Moicrosoft site for Windows 8 you can see that Photoshop CS5 has been found to be compatible with Windows 8:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/Home
You should search this forum using "Photoshop CS5 Windows 8" as search terms to see if there are any issues that have been addressed to help make installation easier.  In one case it was recommended to install in compatibility mode.

  • PS CS5 & Lightroom 4.3 and Dual monitors

    Hi
    I am using dual monitors.
When editing in CS5 I can work directly on the second screen containing the main image. All the palettes etc are on the 1st screen.
When using LR 4.3 it is not possible. The main image shows on the second screen and the cursor appears correctly on both screens.
However I cannot work directly on the main image.
As an example: If I wish to use the White Balance Selector, the "Pick a white target" grid box appears only on the screen containing the main elements and not on the main image.
On moving to the main image the cursor appears as a + sign and will only zoom in and out.
This situation is the same whether using a mouse or my Wacom tablet.
This does make editing a nightmare on LR 4.3 but simple on PS CS5.
    Could anybody help.

I am confused as to which screen/image you refer to as the main screen/image.  Lightroom has limited options and no editing possibilities on its '2nd display'.  These include Loupe view which may be what you call the main image. Screen 1 image is where to do all Lightroom editing in any module screen 2 is where the active image(s) is/are displayed as reference.  CS5 may have different options for dual displays (including editing possibilities on what LR may use as screen 2, I do all editing on Screen 1).  You need to identify which is screen 1 and which 2 - by turning off screen 2 in LR (click on the little screen symbol far left of the toolbar - click 'T' if it is not showing.

  • Photoshop CS5 & Lightroom running slower than expected...

    Hi All,
Hope someone can help me out here. I have a 2.66 Quad Core MacPro (2009) with 8gb RAM & I find Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom don't run as quickly as I would expect.
For instance a lot of times when applying actions in Photoshop I will get the blue "applying filter" bar which will sit for quite some time.
I have IStat widget installed so tonight as Photoshop really slowed down I went to the widget to take a look and this was what was happening: (not sure if this is useful or not?)
    CPU was 97% idle
    Memory was Wired-643mb / Active-4.91gb / InActive-2.42gb / Free-11mb
Processors was Adobe Photoshop between 6.8% & 23.6%
Any idea what would cause the slow down and if there is anything I can do to speed things up?
    Appreciate it.

  • Best Mac Pro  Quad-Core Intel Xeon Machine for PhotoShop CS5/Lightroom

I want to buy a new Mac Pro. I use it almost exclusively to process large quantities of digital images, with large files sizes. Am I better off going with the lower power Dual Quad Processor, or the Higher Power single Quad Processor? I want speed for light room and CS5. DO LIghtroom and CS5 support these Dual Quad machines? Or am I better just getting the highest speed single Quad Machine
    thanks

    Hi Photoman1125,
With regard to Photoshop CS5 the 8-Core has the advantage of 64GB maximum RAM compared to 32GB for the Quad Core, and CS5 can use all the RAM which is available.
The 3.33GHz Quad Core would have the edge in performance over the 2.26GHz 8-Core for most applications.
However, the 8-Core could prove more future-proof in the long term, particularly if advancement in software makes more use of the additional processor and extra RAM.

  • Réinstallation Photoshop CS3+CS4+CS5  & Lightroom 2 & 3

    Bonjour,

  • Suddenly Getting Green prints in Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 2.6

    Photoshop CS5 12.0.1 x32, and Lightroom 2.6
    Windows XP SP 3
Printer: Epson R1900, Software 6.61 (current)
    HP LJ2475W Monitor
I have been running and printing from Photoshop since 5.0. I have had CS5 several months, and probably printed 20 or so pictures (matte, gloss, lustre, from 5x7 to A3). Last weekend, I just wanted to print a quick 5x7 of my wife at my daughter's wedding. The print looks fine in Photoshop, and in the Photoshop print preview, but when it gets to the Epson print preview, the colors are distorted and very green. This is the way it prints also.  I get the same results from multiple pictures includeing those I have printed with no issue before, and in Lightroom 2.6. The only thing I can print successfully is a PDF I constructed a few years back in Photoshop with a bar of each color and a black-to-white gradient (I use this to "exercise" the inks when I don't have something to print during a week).
I worked with the technician from Epson last night, and it is not a problem with the printer. Using the WIndows Picture and Fax viewer, I was able to print the same picture (and several others) with no issues what so ever, and with all the correct colors. When printing, I used the same ICC file I was using in Photoshop.
I have rebooted multiple times, I have downloaded the latest printer driver from Epson, along with the lastest ICC files that they supply, all with no results. Again, it prints fine outside of Photoshop CS5 (Lightroom 2.6 has the same issue), but has corrupted colors within Photoshop.. I have no clue what to adjust or change to get it to print correctly again.
I have downloaded and installed the lateset Adobe patches when prompted to do so, as I do with the Micrsoft patches. Other than that, I haven't had any recent downloads. It was working correctly 2 weeks ago, the last time I printed (this is used almost exclusively for Photoshop and Proshow Producer).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I don't want to have to be limited to other programs to print my photos.

I think I'm seeing a trend of double (or multiple) color transformations here...
SOMETHING, somewhere, is causing the inability to turn off ALL color management outside of Photoshop, so that one cannot use the "Photoshop Manages Colors" setting without getting multiple transformations.
Has Windows itself perhaps added a color management stage somewhere in the mix?
Has something changed that causes the Color Management: Off setting in the printer drivers to be ineffective, or more complex than just "on" or "off"?
What do we know so far?
With CS5, many people using Epson printers cannot get reasonable print colors unless they use the Printer Manages Colors setting in Photoshop.  I don't know what they're choosing in the printer drivers because I don't have an Epson.
I personally have seen evidence of double profiling (magenta looking print) with my HP printer when Photoshop is set to Printer Manages Colors.  This is kind of the opposite problem from what people are reporting about Epsons.
The ICM Method setting in my HP drivers has an entry entitled ICM Handled by Host System, which is SEPARATE from ICM Disabled.
Given the above, a person could be forgiven for thinking there are more combinatorial choices than just these two:
Photoshop Manages Colors and "ICM disabled in the printer / drivers"
Printer Manages Colors and "ICM handled by the printer / drivers"
What does the Epson printer driver color management selection look like?

  • How do I save multiple versions of an image from CS5 to LR4?

After using "edit in" to take an image from LR3 to CS5, I would then save the edited image by "save as" then add -1 for an edited version, -2 for b&w, -3 for a funky edit, etc. (i.e. name-1 or name-2 would be typical file names) They would all save to lightroom. However, since I upgraded to LR4, I can't do that anymore or it doesn't save the image in LR. This has thrown my whole workflow out of whack - especially since I want to use the album module and need those versions of the images for the album.
Please help. I'm getting behind on work while I try to figure this out.
    Thanks in advance
    Jeanie

You won't be able to do that until you upgrade to Photoshop CS6 and ACR 7. As it is now, from LR4 to CS5, Lightroom has to do the rendering and that requires that LR4 save out a tiff first them open it into Photoshop. I'm also pretty sure this applies to CS5 even if you are using ACR 6.7.
When ACR 7 in CS6 comes out, Lightroom can use a scrit called Bridge talk to send the image from Lightroom 4 into ACR 7 and then into Photoshop. With this workflow, LR4 doesn't have to save the tiff before sending it to Photoshop CS6. From there you'll be able to do the multiple Save As and have LR4 know where those images are...

  • Photoshop CS5 Color Management

My question has a complicated back story, but here is where I'm at.  I'm still a newby when it comes to color management.  I'm running Photoshop CS5, Lightroom 3.3, Windows 7 64-bit, Dell Studio XPS desktop, and a new Dell U2311H monitor.  I really struggled several months ago trying to learn color management and Photoshop printing work flow, and may have made an error during that process that created my situation.  When I attach a new monitor (or different monitor), all of my images in Bridge, Photoshop, and Lightroom display with a strong pink/magenta cast.  Images displayed by applications that are not color managed look normal.  Once I calibrate the new/different monitor (with Spyder2Express), and reboot, the color managed images display normally.  If I go to the Control Panel, and assign another profile (such as sRGB IEC61966-2.1) as the default profile for the monitor, all images continue to display normally.  If I go to the Control Panel, and disassociate ALL profiles from the monitor, the images displayed by Bridge, Photoshop and Lightroom again display with a strong pink/magenta cast.
If no profile has been assigned to the monitor on which Photoshop is going to display an image, what does Photoshop do that might result in a pink/magenta image?  Might I have a corrupted profile somewhere, or might I have miscoded something in Color Management that is causing the condition?  If I need to provide some additiional info, please let me know what info is needed.
    Thanks for any assistance..

Andrew, thanks so much for taking the time to respond.  I believe I found
and corrected my problem last night.  When I attempted to do my own printing
from Photoshop last summer, I experimented a lot as I tried to figure out
the work flow.  I discovered last night that I had apparently introduced an
error into the Monitor Color settings under Color Settings.  The RBG Work
Space under Monitor Color was set to "Monitor RBG - xxxxx", where xxxxx was
the profile for the Epson paper I was experimenting with last summer!  I
suspect that Protoshop was using that profile when I didn't provide any
other profile for the display.  I changed that setting to "Monitor RBG -
sRBG", and my problem (the strong magenta casts when displaying images
without profiling the monitor) is gone.
I have been using the Spyder2Express for the past couple of years, and
usually work with a monitor I have previously calibrated with the Spyder.
This magenta problem only showed up when I switched to a new monitor, and
displayed images before running the first calibration.  I wanted to resolve
the magenta problem, however, to determine whether it might be connected to
two other problems I have involving color management.  The first was my
attempt last summer to print on a "hand me down" Epson 2200 printer.  I
finally got the work flow figured out, but was never able to eliminate a
slight magenta cast from some of my prints.  I tried printing from three
computers, using two operating systems, downloaded the 2200 driver and paper
profiles numerous times, printed on two different Epson papers, printed test
prints of the same image on two other printers (without the slight magenta
cast).  I've given up on the 2200 for now!
My latest concern, which really prompted my renewed interest in color
management, is my latest monitor calibration.  I just purchased a Dell
U2311H, and calibrated it with the Spyder2Express.  At the end of the
calibration/profiling process, the Spyder provides a before/after view.
With other monitors, I've always felt that the calibration/profiling process
improved the test image.  With the Dell U2311H, however, it appears to my
eyes that the "before" image looks super, while the "after" image appears to
have a yellowish, or yellowish-green, cast, and the after image is also
"lighter", giving the image a bit of a "washed out" look.
Any suggestions on what I might try next?
Thanks again for your help, Andrew.  By the way, I read the two articles you
sent links for.  I especially enjoyed the article on matching display and
prints.  I'll keep rereading that one until it all soaks in!

  • Best PC to buy for Photoshop CS5, Premiere Elements and Proshow Producer

I am looking for a new PC to replace my 10 year old one.
This would be used primarily for Photoshop CS5, Lightroom, Premiere Elements and Proshow Producer.
I am thinking of going to Digital Storm to get one of their top line gaming machines with Sandybridge cpu, high end video card and at least 16 to 32 gb Ram
(although I do not play games on the pc}.
Is this overkill, or would a different kind of PC be better?
    what do you recommend?

I'm definitely going to look into it. Thanks. Have a great holiday.

Dell Precisions are great machines, you could look into their Studio or Studio XPS too. Not quite workstation qualtiy but I'm beating the snot outta one @home and it's holding up well for a 600 buck eBay chassis...

Unbelievable several days with Customer support.  Signed up for Creative Cloud at the first price they advertised at $49 and found that I qualified for a lower rate and the nightmare began when I contacted support.  I am providing transcripts of two conversations keeping in mind that in two instances the email transcript function fail and that I cannot provide live phone calls that I have attempting to confirm that the higher rate account was canceled then the ensuing horror of finding that my original account was somehow severed to from my original email.  The level of incompetence in customer support is staggering.  I had to create a new account to simply post here as my orginal email is wiped.

Ricky: It is NOT a newly created account it is a OLD account with a NEW product that seems to have wiped all of my OLD information.
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to com at the end of your chat.
Subhabrata: As I am not able to pull up the details.
Subhabrata: I will escalate the to senior level.
    Ricky: Good waiting...
Ricky: Be advise I am forwarding all my interactions to corporate, I am fed up.
Subhabrata: Ricky, I will escalate it for login issue they will contact you back via email within 2 to 3 business days.
    Ricky: No bloody way.....
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to .com at the end of your chat.
Ricky: I need a case number or tracking number for this issue...
Subhabrata: You will receive a case number after end of this chat session.
Ricky: No I want it now
Subhabrata: Also the option to copy the chat  transcript.
Subhabrata: Case number will be generated only after end of this chat session.
Ricky: So you mean to tell me you don't generate a tracking number when you kick up my issue to a higher support tier and that I have to have this complete conversation again to explain my issue from scratch? Is that what you are tell me. Because I have done this several times and there is NO tracking number associated with the transcript when I received it.
Subhabrata: You will receive a case number after end of this chat session in your email.
Ricky: Chat start time     May 5, 2012 8:16:40 PM EST Chat end time     May 5, 2012 8:41:36 PM EST Duration (actual chatting time)     00:24:55 Operator     Suman K
Ricky: That was the first one you tell me where the tracking number is found on that form
Subhabrata: I am not talking about your tracking number.
Subhabrata: I am talking about the case number of our conversation.
Ricky: Okay tell me in this email from a past representative where the case number is? at the bottom or the top and I show you what is there...
Subhabrata: I will give you the case number for the previous conversation.
Subhabrata: Sorry! As I said I am unable to pull up your account.
Subhabrata: How can give you the details about the previous case.
Ricky: Because I kept track or everything that I have and I will be forwarding it to corporate. You guys really got to work on your support issues. This is really nutty...
Subhabrata: I am sorry! But as I am unable to pull up your account in our specific application I will escalate the case.
Subhabrata: Is there anything else I can help you with?
    Ricky: Apparently not...
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to .com at the end of your chat.
No case number or tracking number was generated.
My issue remains unresolve and there is no clear place to post a complaint or receive qualified support from the website.

    Hey Bing:
Clearly the message hasn't trickled down to Adobe support. After purchasing Captivate, and trying to register now I'm locked out of my accoun entirely-- including all my files on Creative Cloud!! I just spent a the better part of two hours dealing with this exact same issue as the orginial poster (creative cloud login issues... likely due to an old email address floating around). Here's my favorite gem:
Khalid: I have checked the information and see that I am unable to reset your password and login to subscription service in this case I will go ahead and escalate this issue to our concern team who will reset and get back to you within 24 to 48 hours
Jeff: great. can i get a case number so i can follow up with billing / otherwise track this issue
Khalid: Once you close this chat you can login to your Adobe account after some time like 20 minutes later to view the case number
Jeff: how am i supposed to login exactly?
Khalid: If you are able to login to your Adobe account then you can login to Creative Cloud
Jeff: Khalid, that's what we've been trying to do
Jeff: if i could login we wouldn't have anything to escalate
Khalid: Yes, that is correct since you are unable to login I will escalate this issue to next level they will check and get back to you at the earliest
Jeff: got that. now how do i get this case number?

  • How is this build looking?

    Planned system, so far:
    http://pcpartpicker.com/user/crhawkeye/saved/1AkA
    System concerns:
    - Any dumb bottlenecks? Anything standout? What should I spend less on, what should I spend more on? Never built before. Still in research mode.
    - Motherboard going to cut it? Originally targeted this as I knew it was workable with a hackintosh setup, which I plan to install. (for this reason want to stick to intel MBs)
    - Still haven't figured out my drive situation. Do plan on having to manually back up on to multiple external HDs for storage.
    - If I want to overclock the 3770k . . . will my current config work?
    - As I understand it... GTX 660 should support thunderbolt (if I go there) with an adapter. Eventually plan on getting a higher res monitor, not sure it will be thunderbolt.
    Uses:
    - Chiefly photo processing (lightroom/CS6), but some HD video work with DLSR files. (figure premiere was more demanding of hardware, so posted here)
    - Will be processing canon 18mp files and Nikon d800 36mp files raw. Will be stacking multiple 36mp raw files, will be stitching multiple 36mp raw files. Figures to be my most demanding photo process.
    Expectations/tolerances:
I'm coming from an old 2 core amd system that had 6gb ram. Only used cs5/lightroom... no video editing. Did OK with smaller 18mp files, but 36mp seriously stresses it. Needless to say... I'm used to slow. The biggest thing I want to improve is actual responsiveness of interface. It'd be nice to be able to write a file two minutes faster than I used to or whatnot, but that's not as big a deal. (remember, used to slow, not a pro... need adeqaute)
I don't do this for a living, but am fairly serious abou my hobby. I want something that will last me 3 years or so at least. I don't see myself upgrading past the nikon d800 in that time frame. (or acquiring anything that gives me more challenging video files)
I was all ready to get a Dell XPS 850 or something... but convinced myself that maybe this would be a better idea. So here I am.
    Thanks

Ok, updated parts list. Upgraded mobo and gold rated 720 super-sup. (don't know if 720 is overkill or not -- can't hurt)
    http://pcpartpicker.com/user/crhawkeye/saved/1AQc
Still trying to figure out what to do hard drive wise. Have listed a couple toishiba 7200/2TB as they were seemingly rated as well as other HDs in that class. Was going to use a couple 2TB drives in raid 1, and then a samsung pro 256 SD. At least to start.  Will add from there. Don't know if I'll be able to get away with multiple OS boots from 1 256gb SD drive or not, may be pushing it.
Think I'll skip worrying about thunderbolt for now, do believe there is an adapter that would get me there if I needed to anyway with this setup.
Looks like my price point has shifted to the 1500 range with this current config.
