Release timing is a bit more scheduled and open now. CS6 is scheduled for release around May 2012. If Audition CS 5.5 gets an update patch, it will likely only be to address major bugs and not add additional functionality or features. As mentioned a few weeks ago in another thread, there's an entire rigamarole surrounding the introduction of new functionality out-of-cycle due to legislation such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and Adobe corporate policies. Even if it were simpler, it takes several months to branch, build, and test a patch release and right now, I think that's time much better spent on CS 6!

Our CEO made a public announcement a while ago that we'd be on a roughly annual release cycle, with major releases alternating with minor ones.
Of course, we can't comment on what's in future releases, but we apparently can confirm that plan for a general schedule.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6: Header error

I have been using WMV files multiple times on Adobe Premiere Pro without any problems. My webcam videos are the WMV files, and I have been able to edit them before, until now all of a sudden. Every time I import this one video in particular, it gives me this: "The file cannot be opened because of a header error."

Any way to reverse how iTunes re-organized all my music files on my comp?!?

When I changed my "iTunes music folder" location to the big folder on my computer that has all my music files (over 900), I accidentally checked the box that said "keep iTunes music folder organized"!
Now, iTunes has re-organized my big music folder into a million folders organized by artist. Not only that, but the stupid thing changed the names of all my music files, too!!!
is there any way i can reverse all this?!?!
I cant believe checking that little box changed so much!!! DAMMM YOU iTUNES!!!!

Why not? It did exactly what you told it to do.
yes thats true... it's just that I didnt think it would "re-organize" the files in such an extreme way (i.e. separating them into a tonne of different folders and subfolders and changing the file names).

Problem with the invitations that my ical sends

When recipients to my ical invitation receive their email, they are unable to add the invite to their calendar apps and the attachment doesn't work. Sometimes when they try to open the attachment, it even crashes their outlook.
I sent an invite to myself to test and I got this in the body of the email:

I would like to chime in on this issue, becaue at my company, we are having the same problem. Here is more detail:
I work for a small analytical consulting firm in Northern Virginia. We have about 80 employees, and we are a dual-platform company. Two of our three managing partners are huge Mac fans, and our head IT guy is also a die-hard Mac user, so the company goes out of its way to support Mac users. Employees are offered a choice as to whether or not they want to use a Mac or a PC when they start work here. We have about 20 Mac users, and it seems like the percentage of Mac employees has been growing over the past year.
Almost all of us who use Macs use Mail instead of Entourage. We do not operate an Exchange server (too expensive), so instead our e-mail system is an IMAP server. This arrangement works great most of the time -- most of the Mac users use Mail, the Windows users all use Outlook. One annoying problem we frequently run into, however, is meeting invitations. If a Windows user schedules a meeting from their Outlook, and sends out the meeting invitation via e-mail, everyone can get it no problem - Mac and Windows users.
However, if a Mac user tries to schedule a meeting in their copy of iCal, and send out the meeting invitation vial e-mail, Mac users can get it just fine, but the Windows users just get an e-mail with a .ics file attached that they cannot open. Interestingly enough, if the same Mac user sends the invitations out from within Entourage, the Windows users can open it just fine. This sets up the ridiculous situation whereby we Mac users are forced to use Entourage whenever we want to set up a meeting, then go back to Mail/iCal. Its crazy and frustrating to have to go back and forth between two separate e-mail programs. We also use a program called XC Connect to share calendars and task lists, and it is dog slow with Entourage, so that is why most of us prefer to stay away from it.
From what I can gather, the problem stems from the fact that Microsoft did not implement the official iCal file standard correctly. I'm sure Apple's position is "Why should we deviate from the accepted standard just to play nicely with Outlook? The problem is on there end -- let them fix it." I can understand that position, but it really doesn't help us folks in the real world who are banging our heads against this problem every day.
This seems like an ideal problem for some enterprising shareware developer to solve. I've heard that it may be possible to write an AppleScript that would automatically re-format the .ics invitation before sending it out to make it compatible, but have not been able to find any such AppleScript on the web. However, the best solution would probably be an actual plug-in for the Mail program to build the functionality into Mail itself.
Surely there is a solution to this problem that does not involve switching to Entourage?

Recruitmnet Team - 5 nums
Time Data guys - 2 nums
payroll guys - 3 nums
End user will give the requirement in this way.
Admin Guys should have only Display access to Employee Master Data
Recruitment guys should have Read & Write access entire Requirement Data => Admin guys will not have any access to Rec Data
Time Data guys should have Read & Write Access to Employee Time Data only => no access to any other data
Payroll Guys should have entire access to PY Data and Employee Master Data => PY Guys will not have any access to Recruitment data.
HR HEAD will have Full Authorizations (Read & Write) access to entire SAP HR DATA

Flash in Firefox performance is terrible compared to other browsers

I have been having this problem with Firefox for over a year now, and nothing changes. So many updates and this problem still persists. I have read several possible fixes for this issue, yet nothing works. It is strange that many users have complained about this issue and Mozilla has done nothing to fix it.
At the moment, I'm at the breaking point with this browser. Sometimes pages freeze while loading, and other browsers don't have this problem either. You mean to tell me that even Internet Explorer performs better than Firefox when it comes to watching videos online and loading pages without freezing?
I remember when I use to think the issue has a lot to do with my slow computer. After getting a better one with 8GB of RAM, the problem still shows its ugly head

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Charging me a shipping fee for the new drive

Cat you posted this and it's a small part of it but please explain why.
A free CD containing the full application suite will soon to be available to order from our Online Store (a Shipping & Handling charge will apply).
I paid for the card and as long as the card is not 5 years old I expect CL to support it for free. Why charge us a shipping charge when it could be put in the download section for all of us. This is why CL's days are numbered and if you think this monopoly Cl has over us will continue please call Senator Russ Fiengolds office here in Wisconsin and ask them what I have sent them.
I have copied tons of peoples posts from last year and explained to them how this company takes money but never fixes the problems a lot of us have.
I'm getting old waiting for you guys to get it together and would like to see something before I die.

First let's clarify, they are not charging a shipping fee for the DRIVERS. You can download the drivers all you want. BUT if you want the full software suite IN ADDITION to the drivers then you gotta pay. It's just too large of a download for CL to host it. Which is why many of us agree that a bit torrent file would be the ideal solution. Seriously, all you have to do is say "We'll look into the possibility of hosting a .torrent" and you've instantly satisfied a lot of people concerning this issue. WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT?!? I've been in your shoes...(well not really...evga never pissed off as many people as CL has lately...) I understand that it is difficult having to deal with a bunch of people who are this upset. But...seriously... The effort to try to appease the pitch-fork and torch wielding mob seems a little sketchy at best. *sigh*?

Season Pass Not Working

I have been trying all day to download the latest episode of Bones to which I bought a multi-pass, can't get it through the 'Check for Purchases', can't get by clicking on the 'Click Here' in either the email or on the show page on iTunes. I am running the latest version of everything.... I have had about 5 emails to the support staff in the past week over this kind of thing (disappearing music, friends who can't download gifts, etc) and wonder if it's the new version, the expansion into movies... what the heck? I fondly recall the good old days when shows did indeed appear the day after they aired, it was easy to download... but now... oy!
Anyway... any other ideas? I know the kids at Apple are swamped, thought I might have missed something!

Although I'm sorry to hear that the "Season Pass" idea is sucking hard core, at least you folks saved me from buying one for NBC's "Heroes". I've already d/l'd the first few ep's, and I was curious about the seemingly non-incremental sticker price.
As an addition to your woes already voiced, apparently iTunes 7, for all it's slickness, doesn't behave as expected when you already own ep's included in a "Season Pass" offering. One would expect that the iTunes Store would knock off the price of the ep's you've already d/l'd, but no such luck.
I would have thought that a fairly obvious application error. Since iTunes is already tracking your library and purchasing habits...
BTW, the "Season Pass" help page is back... But it's not very helpful... Isn't there any good online or real-people support for iTunes and the store?

Terrible customer service from Brendan at Telstra Bourke St Melbourne

Hi All,
Just thought I would ask your advice concerning repairs to my Iphone I requested from Telstra.
The phone is great and I love it, my only problem is that it no longer turns on anymore.
I took it to the shop where I bought it on (yep I lined up to buy it the day they were released ), the really flashy Telstra shop in the Bourke Street Mall. I got one of the techs on the front desk to look at it. He then took it to the head tech guy and he came back and said they would not repair or replace the phone under warranty. He said that it had a 'disturbed liquid submersion indicator at the bottom'.
I have never droped it into water the whole time I have owned it, but I do travel overseas to humid areas so that may have set off the 'submersion indicator' to make the techs think that I dropped it into a puddle when I have never done that.
Obviously, its a real pain, not having a phone for even a day, so I asked what my options were. I was told that the 'apple warranty is void and repair/exchange can not be carried out and the replacement cost for an 8gb for $670'.
The quotes above are from what is typed on my Service Repair Order.
I asked was it possible to send the phone to Apple to be inspected, and they advised that it was not, and that my only option was to purchase a new phone, and that I had two options. Firstly, if I surrendered my old phone, a replacement would be issued for $670. Secondly, I could simply purchase another iphone 'outright' for a cost of $726.
I tool the second option, and have a brand new phone, although I am disapointed that I now have an almost new phone that simply stopped working that is now used as a paperweight.
I tried everything to minimise the cost of getting a working iphone, and after talking to the lead tech, he then got the store manager to discuss my options.
Brendan said he was the store manager, and eventually let me know his name after first stating 'I dont have to give you my name' and eventually told me his employee number was 0238895.
He spent over an hour checking the situation while I waited, but would not put anything in writing except some notes in the section related to the 'reported problem' on the Service Repair Order.
Is the advice that Brendan from Telstra gave me correct, and was it necessary for me to purchase another brand new handset for $726?

See the response that I provided to Tamara regarding the recent change to the policy.
You might want to print the new version of the policy and bring your receipt and go back to Telstra and see if they will consider an adjustment, i.e. you return your brand new iPhone, they swap it for a refurbished iPhone and credit you with the difference in price.
I actually fail to see where you received "Terrible customer service from Brendan" as stated in your title.

Need Compression advice

I am new to DVDSP.
I created a project in FCP- 6 minutes long, three talking heads (one guy is animated), some Livetype screens and still images that were given some motion. Just talking, no music.
It was shot with miniDV.
My question- do I send to compressor and at what specific settings? I used DVD 90 minute at Best quality and it isn't looking amazing. Audio was compressed to Dolby. Sounds great.
Once in DVDSP, when I build and format, one pas , VBR one pass or two pass?
You are talking to a newbie, so speak sllllooooooowwwwly in English.
Don't assume I'll know everything. Please go step by step.
I'd appreciate NOT getting "RTFM" responses.

DVD 90 is going to be a safe bet for you. You can fiddle with it and get a bit more quality, but then you could run into issues where the DVD won't play on some DVD Players (it has to do with the "bit rate": how much information the player has to read at one time, so if your DVD player is a slow reader, like me, it get's lost with that much information going by at one time).
Two Pass VBR (variable bit rate) is going to give you a higher quality (that's why Best quality in Compressor is Two Pass) because the computer is looking at the data twice and seeing how it can make it better. ...I think.
Remember, a DVD is using a Compressed video file, which means it will look less amazing than your MiniDV footage in some ways.

1) I'm currently running a trial copy of CS6, Air 3.2, and I get 'App descriptor cannot parse file' error whenever I try to modify the xml file.
I'm just trying to remove the icon shine, which worked fine in Flash 5.5.

Also, I tried inserting the 144x144 icon, which published ok, but didn't seem to work. And that line of code later disappeared from
the xml.
2) My mac is Snow Leopard, so I take it I have to upgrade to Lion (do I have to buy it, or is it free to developers?!)
If I then get the latest XCode, and target ios 5.1 with Retina display, will my apps still be compatible on devices with iOS 4?

Exports From Audition CC Give "Header Error" in Premiere Pro CS6

Hello,
I have finished the audio mixing on a 15 track project in Audition CC. It is very heavy so I had to export all the tracks separately to import them back into the Premiere Pro CS6 movie project. That way I could also do further adjustments in individual tracks later on directly on Premiere, if needed (since mixing isn´t something we´re ever done with).
I´ve exported them all in wav 9600 Hz 32 bit (Audition doesn´t say whether it´s floating point or not) and also wav 9600 Hz 24 bit. The originals on all the tracks were eitther wav 9600 Hz 24 bit, or wav 9600 Hz 32 bit (converted from 24 bit to aplly declipping and normalization), except 2 tracks with music that had mp3, wav and m4a.
When importing the exported Audition files back into Premiere all of the 15 tracks, including the ones that didn´t have mp3 and m4a in it, give me the message "The file cannot be opened because of a header error".
Questions:
1. What could be wrong?
2. In case there isn´t a solution, what would be the best lossless formats to try and do the exports for importing into Premiere?

Trouble is I´ve never had an answer for my posts in the Audition forum (I did originally post this here because I thought it´s more of a Premiere issue, though). I guess Audition just isn´t nearly as widely used as Premiere.
Also, I have done the same kind of exports for smaller tracks from Audition before and didn´t have an issue importing them into Premiere.
I find it really troubling that Adobe intends to make Audition a reliable pro audio suite integrated with Premiere and, on top of some weird issues like this one (and such as the 16 bit limit for sending a project from Premiere to Audition, making that integration probably useless for most pro uses), there´s so little support.
But thanks a lot, anyways!
