CSS keepalive failing but service UP!

I configured a service with a standard keepalive on a RMI server as follows:
service SEARCH_AUT_DIH_2
ip address 10.216.71.4
protocol tcp
port 2001
keepalive type tcp
active
The service is certainly up but the CSS consider it down. I think the proble is in the RMI protocol incorrectly responding to the three wau handshake.

Has anybody experienced the same problem?

If "keepalive port xxxx" is not specified the CSS assumes the port specified for the service.
It is not mandatory to specify the keepalive port unless it is different from the one used for the service.

According to log file, I find the message ‘The setup100.exe.config file was not found, therefore the DTSWizard and SQLWatson app config files were not replaced’. It seems that the SQL Server setup file is not complete. Please check that if the SQL Server
setup file is corrupted, if it is corrupted, please download it again and reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2.
However, if there’s no problem with the setup file, please check that if there is third-party software such as anti-virus software on your computer blocking the process of SQL Server installation. In addition, make sure that you choose ‘Run as administrator’
to launch the setup and configure SQL Server service accounts appropriately with administrator permission during the installation.

On starting Essbase, system throws error "CSS Initialization Fails"

I have been using the hyperion essbase in the past.
Today the someone removed the network cable connecting to the servers. I put them back but since then i am facing issue where i cannot connect to Essbase server.
I tried restarting the essbase server. On starting the server it first gives the warning:
log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (com.hyperion.css.common.CSSLo

log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
But it continues and then prompts error

Hi. I have a problem with the way an application behaves in response to CSS tcp keepalives, I'd be grateful for any advice.
Using standard TCP keepalives, an application logs a broken connection for every keepalive, filling up the app logs, causing the administrators to complain. If I change the tcp-close type to FIN, the application doesn't log an error, but it still logs the connection, same complaint from the admins.
The application developers feel that it's not their problem, they're comparing the keepalives to nmap probes and indeed, it is possible to confirm that the service is up with nmap, without generating an error/connection log entry on the server.
According to some Wireshark captures, the TCP flags of a CSS keepalive, compared to an nmap probe, are as follows;
CSS
CSS --> Syn --> Server
CSS <-- Syn, Ack <-- Server
CSS --> Ack --> Server
CSS --> Rst, Ack --> Server
nmap -sS
NmapPC --> Syn --> Server
NmapPC <-- Syn, Ack <-- Server
NmapPC --> Rst --> Server
So, my question is, can the tcp behaviour of CSS keepalives be modified, to dispense with the arguably superfluous 'ack'ing that's illustrated above?

Thanks for the replies.
I've tried tcp-close fin, it stops an error being logged, but the application still logs the connection.
I wouldn't be concerned, other than the fact it clearly is possible to both establish that the service is running on the server and not log the connection attempt, using Nmap's more abbreviated tcp behaviour.
I am curious, though. What is the CSS acknowledging when it sends an ACK in the RST packet?

When the CSS keepalive shows the state as "dying" is it still sending traffic to that server?
or is it holding the traffic in its buffer?
What does the user see?

A service that is dying will still receive connections/requests.
Assuming that the service has actually failed, the user will see a delay in reponse until the service is dead and the connection is reset/remapped.

Hope someone can help me out here. Have SharePoint 2013 running fine and has been for a while. Recently have been getting Event ID 1400 SharePoint server search 'Gatherer\CSS connector failed to connect to CSS net.tcp //servername/C7A30B. If I restart the
server then all runs fine again but within a day it starts coming up with the same warning. The event ID is followed by Event id 2580 and 2581. Any help would be most appreciated.

It should be related to the search service account permission issue, please try the following steps on your search servers which are running the "Search Host Controller Service", then check results again.
1. "Start" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Local Security Policy" (or run: Secpol.msc).
2. Expand "Local Policies".
3. Click on "User rights assignment".
4. Make sure that the search service account has the following privileges.
"Replace a process level token"
"Adjust memory quotas for a process"
"Impersonate a client after authentication"
"Log on as a service"
(5) Run gpupdate /force

I can tell you that this is some of the absolutely worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I found out from a store employee that when they are really busy with calls, they have third party companies taking overflow calls. One of those companies is Xerox. What can a Xerox call center rep possibly be able to authorize on a Verizon account? I'm Sure there is a ton of misinformation out there due to this. They don't note the accounts properly or so everyone can see them. I have been transferred before and have asked if they work for Verizon or a third party also and was refused an answer so, apparently they aren't required to disclose that information. I spent a long time in the store on my last visit and it's not just customers that get the runaround. It happens to the store employees as well and it's beyond frustrating.

How to retrieve error message(s) after failed web service call

I tried to create an item using the web service ego_item_pub.process_item and it worked ok (version 12.1.1). Sending the same request again, I got an error which should be ok since the item id already exists. The thing is, that I only get an "E" as return status:

<X_MSG_COUNT>1</X_MSG_COUNT>
As described in the integration repository, there should be a parameter called msg_data which should contain the message if there is exactly 1 message, but I cannot find it.
So, I tried to get the message using fnd_message.get, but the response of my web service call is:
AuthorizationFailure : User not authorized to execute service. (I use sysadmin/sysadmin as ws security user).
I use the following grant details:
All Users Direct GLOBAL Revoke Action Enabled
SYSADMIN SYSADMIN Direct USER
What else can I do or how can I retrieve error messages for a failed web service call?

ODBC fails but only from ASP page (12154)

I have a working Win2k/MDAC 2.6 box, that can connect perfectly to an Oracle 8.1.7 on another machine. I can TNS ping this host, I set up an ODBC DSN and I can connect from the Oracle ODBC Test program. I wrote a simple script (see below) to test the connection, and run it as a Windows script (i.e. double click on the file) and it runs perfectly. All is great.
BUT, when I copy the exact same script into an ASP file (surround the script the the "<%" and "%>" delimiters) and run it, I get this:
ORA-12154 TNS could not resolve service name.
Anyone have any ideas why this script fails but ONLY from ASP??

As you can see the reply from the Tacacs is a "FAIL", but still the command is executed.
RESULT:

QUESTION:
I don't understand what the problem is...Since I get a FAIL from the Tacacs Server I assume that the configuration on that side is fine.
But why would the switch ignore a FAIL and still execute the command? Same problem exists with the Loopback-Interface.
Is this me not understandig the basic concept of AAA or is this some other problem?
The Switch is a Cisco WS-C3750-24TS (running c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-50.SE2.bin).
The Tacacs runs Cisco Secure ACS4.2.0.124

Hi Tom,
this is CSCtd49491 : TACACS+ command authorization for interface configuration fails .
The bug is currently in a Closed state, meaning that the "Bug report is valid, but a conscious decision has been made not to fix it at all or in all releases."
As far as I can tell, the impact is rather limited since the interface that gets created will have no effect unless the vlan exists, and even then the effect is minimal since it cannot be configured.
You may want to open a TAC case or work with your account team to get the bug re-opened if this is still a concern though.

Connection to license service failed; license service address is not valid, or license service is stopped (or does not respond), ConnectToCompanyReturn = -131 in ConnectToCompany()
This is the error I received from an addon. It works running it on the server where the SAP license is but as soon as a SAP client starts and the addon tries to connect I receive the error but I don't understand there's no different about the SAP code given to connect an addon.
Here's the method in which it fails

CSS keepalives

Is there anyway of seeing what http response is being returned to a HTTP keepalive on a service. The problem I am having is that the service in question is down. If I change it to a tcp keepalive it comes up. The website is then available. If I use httplook I get a 200 OK. So I can't work out what's keeping the http keepalive down. The site does enforce the use of cookies, and you get an error stating that they muse be enabled, but I still get a 200, so that should be ok I would expect... any help much appreciated.

I am trying to install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. I get the error bellow (Database Services Engine Failed, SQL Server Replication Failed, Full Text Search Failed, Reporting Services Failed). I already have a copy of SQL Server 2008 R2 on the machine.
I want to create a new named instance of SQL Server for some software I'm installing.

If you see error descriptioon it gives access denied so basically it is because of some access issue.I guess You must be using some domin account for installation make sure it is added as local administrator also instead of using NT Authority network
service as SQL server service account use local system account .

OS X 10.8.4 wifi says "connection failed", but connects anyway; cannot save password

I am using OS X 10.8.4 that came with my MBP. When I connect to my home wifi that requires a WPA 2 password, it says "Connection Failed", but anyway connects to the internet. Also, my password is not being saved, and I need to enter it everytime.
After reading several forums, I have already tried the following:
1. removing airport preference list from Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
2. Removing network password from the keychain
3. Using Keychain first aid
4. Using disk utility and doing repair disk.
5. Doing DHCP release in Network Preferences.
6. Removing my network from the preferred network list and connecting again.
I am using a D-link modem. It should not be a problem, because the same MBP could remember the password before. The problem happened when I tried to fix my wifi because it would take long to connect after waking from sleep, when I deleted the airport preferences list, and removed the keyring.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):

This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select

from the menu bar.
