CSS/olsnodes failing !!

Hello ,
I am having problems connecting from RMAN to the database (Oracle 10.2.0.3 running on CRS , AIX 5.3).
When i am trying to connect it shows following errors.

ON 08th Oct , system admin added one more port and i think they cloned from existing (PR) to (PR-dr) from Smitty.. I think that time CRS switched from PR to PR-dr while system admins changed back the configuration.

PRCO-2: Unable to communicate with the clusterware
I think if i will stop the crs on this node while crs will be active on other node .. Will this work ?
Or can i use crsstart to restart cssd
Or i can use localconfig

I had word with system admins.. It was changed in interface not the hostname.. one interface has been added.

I have been using the hyperion essbase in the past.
Today the someone removed the network cable connecting to the servers. I put them back but since then i am facing issue where i cannot connect to Essbase server.
I tried restarting the essbase server. On starting the server it first gives the warning:
log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (com.hyperion.css.common.CSSLo

log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
But it continues and then prompts error

Gatherer\CSS connector failed to connect to CSS net.tcp

Hi,
Hope someone can help me out here. Have SharePoint 2013 running fine and has been for a while. Recently have been getting Event ID 1400 SharePoint server search 'Gatherer\CSS connector failed to connect to CSS net.tcp //servername/C7A30B. If I restart the
server then all runs fine again but within a day it starts coming up with the same warning. The event ID is followed by Event id 2580 and 2581. Any help would be most appreciated.

It should be related to the search service account permission issue, please try the following steps on your search servers which are running the "Search Host Controller Service", then check results again.
1. "Start" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Local Security Policy" (or run: Secpol.msc).
2. Expand "Local Policies".
3. Click on "User rights assignment".
4. Make sure that the search service account has the following privileges.
"Replace a process level token"
"Adjust memory quotas for a process"
"Impersonate a client after authentication"
"Log on as a service"
(5) Run gpupdate /force

CSS stateful fail-over

The current version of the CSS allows stateful fail-over using a direct connection between two CSS.
I am working on a project for a customer where the two CSS are away from each-other. Stateful fail-over is a strong requirement for this customer. What is the Cisco position about this requirement ?

how far away ?
You can use fiber for the statefull connection and I think it can go up to 10km.
If you need the servers to be further away than 10km, you have to contact a Cisco Sales person to explain your requirements.

CSS keepalive failing but service UP!

I configured a service with a standard keepalive on a RMI server as follows:
service SEARCH_AUT_DIH_2
ip address 10.216.71.4
protocol tcp
port 2001
keepalive type tcp
active
The service is certainly up but the CSS consider it down. I think the proble is in the RMI protocol incorrectly responding to the three wau handshake.

ver 5.20 build 5
Has anybody experienced the same problem?

If "keepalive port xxxx" is not specified the CSS assumes the port specified for the service.
It is not mandatory to specify the keepalive port unless it is different from the one used for the service.

CSS 11150 Booting Problem

Dear All,
After a power outage, one of our CSS is failing to boot up properly. Every time its rebooted, it goes straight to the OFFDM although the Primary boot device has been selected to be Disk. I have formatted the
Disk and loaded a new image, it booted with the new image once and its
Loading to OFFDM every time its rebooted.
I would be really grateful if someone could shed some light on this problem.

You could check the boot.log for error messages inorder to find out what the problem could be.

Need urgent help on issue "An unknown CSS error occured" Hyperion Essbase

Hi guys
I am facing an issue while configuring Essbase 9.3.1. Everytime i tried to register Essbase(Server1) with Shared Services(Server2), i.e at the point where we enter Shared Services server, port, username, and password i am getting the following error.
"An unknown CSS error occured. please check the values you entered". I verified and gave all the values exactly. but same error....
please help me with your suggestions in resolving this issue.

Using css on form buttons to make them pretty

Hello,
I usually use the below css (bottom page) on a page for my
form buttons, it
works nicely in ff and IE, but with regards to the W3C CSS
Validator I get
the following errors.
input.btn attempt to find a semi-colon before the property
name. add it

Sure, but some rules are only required for IE. They don't
make sense for
all other browsers and would just clutter up the real CSS,
particularly
if you have to use hacks to apply them to IE only.

Indeed. But how much does it take on each page usually? 50
bytes? 100?
A real example from my own sites with CCs for both IE 6 (CSS
and JS) and
IE 7 (only CSS) is exactly 363 bytes - peanuts.
I also use a lot of 'link' elements for example (next page,
previous,
home, search, etc.) All users have to download them, even
though most
won't recognize them, because only very few browsers support
these meta
navigation links natively. But for those whose browsers
interpret them,
they're a useful addition. And the rest has to download 1KB
more -
doesn't matter.

Hmm, it was not properly worded ... what I meant was more
like this: I

In fact on my sites there are some more files for IE 6 only:

When IE 6 is dead, it's no problem to remove this single line
from my
page templates. One little change on each site - won't take
long.
And as said, usually there's a bit more than just filters. An

There's not even a PNG fix in this case. All these rules are
related to
IE's float problems, to give some elements "layout" or to
overcome other
little ugly glitches. Having all these in the main CSS would
make things
much more complicated and almost impossible to remove when IE
6 becomes

This is my main problem. No hack is totally safe. If I have
the choice
between a rather ugly, but documented behaviour and a hack, I
definitely
prefer the first one. Even though the common IE hacks are
well-tested
these days and I don't expect real side effects, there's
always a kind
of a negative connotation. I simply don't like them.
Additionally there's the problem that in my case IE 7
requires some
fixes as well, and then things would become really
complicated if you
only want to use hacks. CCs are ugly and pollute the markup a
bit, but
at least they are a reliable way to give each IE the medicine
it needs.
Personally I consider them the only useful & working
feature in IE. ;-)

Well, I prefer valid CSS too, but don't care too much about
warnings.
For example I usually get tons of warnings when I declare a
foreground
color without a background or the other way round. But this
is by
intention, and since I know what I'm doing (at least in most
cases), I
think I can safely ignore these warnings. But I don't like
errors. And
as said - my main problem are the hacks, which I try to
avoid.
So there's not only technical issues in these cases, but also
a lot of
personal preferences I think. For me CCs are the cleaner way
and much
easier to handle. YMMV, of course.

Root.sh fails - asm won't shut down

I am trying to instal clusterware 11gR2 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5. This is all running an Oracle Virtualbox environment, using ASM for the cluster disk in an openfiler. 32 bit installation, 1GB memory allocated to each node environment. I had to ignore errors for the following:
< 1.5 GB memory
small swap file
ncsd and ntpd processes not running (not connected to internet), I understand Oracle will install it's own timer service if this is not present
Running root.sh fails because asm won't shut down properly:

Thank you for your quick reply. Here's what I tried:
1. reset the install as you suggested, and tried running root.sh again. The exact same thing happened.
2. restored to an openfiler snapshots that were taken right before the failed upgrade. Increased memory on both VMs to 1280M as you suggested. Rebooted the virtual environment and ran the installation again. This time, the root.sh script froze my environment - not enough memory to support this.
3. restored the openfiler snapshots again. Increased memory on one node (odbn1) to 1500M. Ran the install for a single node cluster. It got past this error.

Also, thanks for the tip on the ntp.init file. That did eliminate the error for ntpd not running during the installation.

EIS connection with Shared services failed.

I m using EIS for data load ,and getting error while test connection with Shared service. while its connectiong with essbase with default user "admin"

Hi, Im installing 11.2.0.3 single standalone database without ASM file system / RAC . But still im getting the error as in subject line.
OS is Linux 64 bit.
Im not using asm/rac .
ASM software is installed but with oragrid user. I'm installing with different user. Please help me in this.

Loading .css into my .fla file (non-.AS file)

My .html file loads, but not my .css file.
I want to add the proper code to load a .css file, which is
for my .html file, directly into my .fla file that has the code for
the text area and scrollbar with the .html file loading
successfully.
How do I load the .css file for the .html file the same way-
the .html file loads correctly, but not the .css file?

Then I swap out the css file name with what I have - style_dtf.css - and it doesn't error (no output regarding CSS), but it shows ALL the code from the XML file in a big string, with all the tags and everything.
Very weird...
I even pasted the CSS from the example file into the beginning of my CSS file and still same effect.
I do have all my SWFs in a seperate folder, but for now I just duplicated my CSS and XML into both folders.

Speeding up configuration of CSS

I find configuring the CSS to be a pretty slow process in that everything is contextual. And it is always asking you to confirm your actions. For example
"add service foo"
..results in Create service <foo>, [y/n]
Is there a way to turn off these annoying speed bumps? When you have hundreds of services and content rules to configure this is ridiculous. IOS doesn't make you do that when you say want to configure an interface or a route map.
Also - pasting configuration into the CSS often fails because it gets overloaded. Is there a way to make the CSS more amenable to receiving pasted config(from say Windows putty ssh to its console port)?
And lastly - can you just create a flat file configuration outside of the CSS and copy it to the CSS?
Any tips on speeding the configuration are most appreciated.

Regarding tftp and ftp - do you mean just create and modify the config in its entirety offline and ftp it to config dir? Then how do you put the new config into effect?

CSS isn't changing XML File

I'm working on the example attached trying to get my css to alter the colour of my xml links. Despite doing what the forums say you should it's not working. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
