CSS problem/question

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a CSS that is working
fine in IE but not Firefox or Opera. This is puzzling because it's
usually the other way around for me.
Anyway, this page
HERE
the top in the nav where is says Home >> Products >>
WinTV-HVR: The non links in this "sitenav" div are not picking up
the style I have set. If you look at it in Firefox that text is
12pt black (which is what I have set to the body style). If you
view it in IE it is 11pt gray bold like its supposed to be.
Does anyone know why Firefox and Opera are not displaying
this properly?
CSS HERE
Thanks!
Kim

Hi Kim --
It looks like your DIV #sitenav is inheriting the black from
from the DIV
#container. Also, it looks like you have an extra "}" in the
line above
your #sitenav rule.
Something I don't understand, though. I looked at your page
in FF using the
developer toolbar. When I clicked the CSS tab to view your
rules I didn't
see:
#sitenav {
font-size: 11px;
color: #999999;
font-weight: bolder;
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-variant: normal;
font-style: normal;
nor did I see the "mac hide" rule above it. However, when I
click the
"Edit" button they appear. Don't know why...maybe someone
smarter than I
can provide an explanation.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

  • Css problem in internet explorer

    Hi to all!
    On my page as part of the page template I have build in a little drop-down user panel on the left top of the page.
    html:<div id="userpanel">
      <span><img src="'#APP_IMAGES#openSlidedown.png" /> <a>logon: &APP_USER.</a>
      <div id="userpanel_hsreg"><p>Autorisiert für: &APP_CODES_DISP.</p>
      <p>| #NAVIGATION_BAR#</p>
      </div></span>
    </div>css:#userpanel,
    #userpanel * {
            position:relative;
         font-family:verdana; font-size:12px;
         margin:0; padding:1px; border:0;
         white-space:nowrap;
    #userpanel a,
    #userpanel span { display:inline-block; }
    #userpanel>span>a { color:#999; }
    #userpanel span:hover div { display:block; }
    #userpanel>span:hover > a { color:black; }
    #userpanel_hsreg {
              display:none;
              position:absolute;
              left:+5px;
              top:+24px;
              background:#fff;
              padding:10px 18px;
              line-height:180%;
              border:1px solid silver;
              border-radius: 6px;
              box-shadow:1px 2px 5px #aaa;
              z-index:99;
    #userpanel>span>a {
              border-bottom:1px solid silver;
              margin-top: 5px;
              }So what happens is this: if the user hovers over the "+logon: username+", a little box pops up with some further information (the item &APP_CODES_DISP.) and the logout-link. Below this link, the Navigation bar starts. So while the box pops up, it covers a part of the region below, what its meant to do.
    The promlem is, that this doesnt work in Internet Explorer properly, when its launched from apex. Instead, the popup-box is displayed behind the region below. In Mozilla, as always, everything worls fine. This problem ocured already, when I opened the html-file from desktop, but I fixed that by putting the z-index-attribute in. Only now, in Apex, its still now working in IE. I am not that of an expert in css. I have tried different XHTML declarations in the header, all no difference.
    The current one:<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">This might be a bit of a tricky issue, so I dearly hope, someone can help me. (Similar problem like the other threat I started recently here where the round-corner attribute is not working in IE-Apex, but this time its a bit more vital. :) )
    I have v 4.0.2.
    Thanks and greetings,
    tobi

    Hi again!
    This turns out not to be an APEX-issue, as I tought first, but rather a css-problem. Maybe therefore I'm in the wrong forum, but maybe someone can help me anyway.
    I have created two pages with the relevant element: (login with test/test please) one page with standard tabs and another with my own html-navigation. Now Internet Explorer has the option "Compatibility View" which in our company is activated by default. On page 1 it makes no difference, but on the second, with Compatibility View on, the drop-down box apeares behind my selfimplemented navigation bar. WHY IN GODS NAME DOES THIS HAPPEN??
    I have posted the same question in a german web-developer forum (here) also, because its quite urgent that I solve this, and as I mentioned above, many colleagues work with IE.
    So if anyone here is a css-IE9-expert... :)
    Thanks and best regards,
    Tobi
    edit: ok, its solved. The userpanel-div needed a "z-index:1;" attribute for IE. :)

  • Few problems/questions! (cover flow, album art...etc)

    Ok I finally added my songs to my new IPOD (replaced my old one) and this is my first Ipod with video, color...etc. Its the IPOD Classic 80 GIG.
    Well I am having a few problems/questions:
    ---Why when I hit "Get album art" does it ONLY get art for my videos? It doesn't get any for all 1,500+ songs! Is it because they aren't downloaded from Itunes? If so then why does it do it for the movies then? They aren't from ITunes either!
    ---With Cover Flow I updated the Album Art myself and have about 700 songs with art now. But I have two problems.
    1. It won't display all 700 songs under Cover Flow!
    2. It won't show them in order by song name! Can I change that?!? If not then how is it showing them by? What do I need to change?
    ---Are there any other video types supported besides that on Mpeg4 and that other weird type? If not why not? Its a pain to have to convert everything. Its almost not worth having this video IPOD if you have to go through sop much effort just to watch 1 stupid video. I mean I spent more money on extra programs now for music and videos then I did on the IPOD almost.
    ---Is there any way to transfer your music from one IPOD to another? I know some people say you can't but why? What about people like me who have music ripped from our own cds and NOTHING from ITunes? Its a REAL pain having to rerip all the cds, put them back on, rename all the songs, fix all the info...etc. Its taken me 4 days now. Apple needs to think about a "IPOD TO IPOD" music transfer kinda program.
    ---How do you get pics on the IPOD without having to keep them on your PC? I notice it has to SYNC them every time I have it plugged into the PC! But if I tell it NOT to sync pics anymore then they won't stay on the IPOD if turn that option off and unplug the IPOD. Theres got to be another way to add them.

    Cover flow on the ipod can only be done (as far as I know) on Album by Artist Name. On iTunes you can change it around

  • Yes another strange IE CSS problem

    Hi all,
    I was wondering if some kind soul could help me work out
    hopefully my last CSS problem. If you look at my site:
    http://www.aclighting.com/shop/
    in IE you will see a light blue line at the bottom of the left hand
    side navigation menu. In Firefox and other browsers it isn't there,
    they are behaving, but I can't work out why IE is showing that
    there.
    This is the HTML
    Class mid is what shows the blue line.
    #shop #content-wrapper #menu .mid {
    background: url(/images/menu_div.gif) no-repeat left top;
    padding-top: 9px;
    padding-left: 5px;
    color: #FFFFFF;
    font-weight: bold;
    font-size: 100%;
    I don't understand why its showing near the botton in IE.

    Its on you background image?
    http://www.aclighting.com/images/menu_bottom.gif
    IE is probably making a container slightly higher for some
    reason and
    therefore shows more of te background image.
    Just use a 'dedicatted' background image minus the blue line

    IMOVIE/IPHOTO TRANSFER PROBLEM QUESTION... HELP HELP HELP!!!
    much like the email above, i am having trouble importing movies --all taken with my same nikon camera and uploaded to iphoto-- from iphoto08 to imovie08. i did a software update today and half the movies i wanted from iphoto, somehow, ended up on imovie. not the half i need to work with, by the way. just came back from christmas with the family. the first time my dad has seen my son. the first time my wife has seen my dad. lots of pictures. my dad wants copies. i got great ideas about making him a DVD... in imovie, i choose, "import movies", follow the steps, create a new event AND... no movie clips show up in my new event... BUT, when i click "mac HD" on my desktop and go the "imovie events", i see the movies is just supposedly imported to imovie as files and can watch them. doesn't help me much when trying to create a movie to send to my dad. no video is played in imovie. HELP HELP HELP!!! i went so far as to trash my 15 movies from iphoto because i thought perhaps the computer was seeing them as photos and not movies. right now my vacation movies are on my desktop. how can i get them to show up in imovie and start my project? HELP HELP HELP!!!

    I think you have set your iPod to an option which everytime you connect it to itunes, it will delete all songs on it and replace it with songs currently in your library. What you need to do is click on the ipod on the sidebar, and on the bottem of the new page click the tick box that says "Manually manage music and video". That way you can delete old songs from your computer and they will stay on your ipod everytime you connect it. Hope that helps ^_^

  • 5610 problems/questions

    Okay, i have a 5610, firmware v9.4, and i have the foll problems/questions...
    1) The calender and alarm systems sometimes refuse to work. In the calender, i put reminders, but often it never gives any alarm, even though i have set it to alert me at such-and-such time. The alarm too, simply doesn't work at times. any solutions?
    2) On starting the phone, while updating the library, the phone temporarily gets hanged. After about 5 minutes, its back to normal, and the library is updated, but in those 5 mins i can't do anythinh. any solutions?
    3)On connecting my cell to the comp, i usually use memory storage mode, to access the memory card in windows explorer, cuz its faster than pc suite. afer disconnecting, my phone often says "not enough memory on phone. update cancelled", referring to the music player library update. any solutions?
    4)In menu>steeings>security>security level, what do the options do, i've not noticed any difference...

    security level is to either set passwords for start up of phone ,keypad locks,lock code for phone this enable you to put a pin on the phone where if it was to get stolen the person would need a pin the activate the phone with another sim in it
    If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • PLEASE report what you've already tried when posting problems/questions!

    A lot of threads have a common theme:
    (1) The first post describes a problem, or asks a question.
    (2) The second (or third, or fourth) post suggests doing or trying something.
    (3) The next response, from the original poster, says "Oh, I already tried that!"
    Please, when describing a problem or asking a question, be reasonably detailed about the scenario, what you did, what results you got, WHAT YOU'VE ALREADY TRIED, etc.
    Vague undetailed problems/questions, not describing the N steps you've already taken to try to resolve it, etc. just waste time and bandwidth all around!

    Hi Doug;
    If we are going to start of list of things NOT to do when posting a question, the one I always think is the absolute silliest is when they say I am having trouble with an application and never ever tell up what application they are talking about as if we have a crystal ball which is going to tell us what mythical application it is. Well it turns out generally my crystal ball is foggy just then so I have to ask what are you talking about here.

  • Possible CSS problem?

    Hi All,
    I am in the process of making a website for a friend, when I ran into what looks like a css problem.
    I purchased the css file in a template from a guy who does tutorials on youtube, I have contacted him on several occasions but his customer service is pretty awful and he hasn't replied to any contact.
    When using a mobile or tablet to view the website the header and footer area is pushed to the left. (please see attached image)
    I added 100% to the following containers but still it never changed them.
    #header-wrapper
    #footer-content-wrapper
    #footer
    If I change the widths to 1000px then it sorts it out for the mobile view but then the website on a pc/laptop is distorted.
    the website can be found at www.leightonsterling.com
    Thankyou in advance.

    There's nothing wrong with your site.  That's exactly what fixed-width, centered layouts do in smaller displays.  They move to the left.   If you want a responsive web site that adjusts to mobile and tablet device widths, you need a Responsive Layout.
    Look at FluidGrid Layouts in Dreamweaver CS6 & CC.  Or use one of the following Responsive Frameworks to jump start your project.

  • MSI 925XE BIOS 1.3 to 1.4 Upgrade problem/question

    Hi,
    Today I upgraded my board from BIOS 1.3 to 1.4 (successfully, *phew*). The BIOS page on the MSI site states that it fixes some problems, but nothing related to temperature sensors is mentioned:
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=635&kind=1
    Now the actual problem/question is that with BIOS v1.3 my full load temp was roughly 65 degrees celcius (3.4GHz LGA775 CPU). Now with v1.4 my full load temperature shows up as 47-48 degrees celcius.
    This of course doesnt seem like a bad thing at first, lower temp = good, but I cant help but wonder whether the temperature was being inaccurately shown in 1.3, or whether it is being shown wrongly now with 1.4. A drop in full load temp of about 18 degrees celcius sure raises some questions.
    If anyone knows anything about this, Id appreciate any feedback. Also if there is some kind of tech support email address that MSI has (I couldnt find one on the site), could you please pass it to me, thanks.
    I didnt post my entire system specs because really all the other components are irrelevant, I didnt change the setup in any way other than the BIOS. If I needed to post some addition info, tell me what it is, and I will.
    Thank you.

    Sorry that I didnt reply for a while. Busy weekend. Anyways...
    What kind of chassis cooling? When as I said the case is open right now cause Im still experimenting with everything, so really its like no chassis at all for now. What kind of fan do I use with the XP-120? Its a quiet fan, I cant seem to find the box. If Im not mistaken, its the green version of this:
    http://www.thermaltake.com/dcfans/led/thunderblade120.htm
    And finally... Yes of course I was able to fit the XP120 on the motherboard, how else would I be running the comp hehe? BTW, I wouldnt necessarily recommend it to others though, the installation was very problematic. But still, its possible.

  • Beginner CSS problems and questions

    I'm trying to learn CSS, but first, I have to knock out this simple site for a client, CSS or not, asap.
    Problem #1:
    Here is the page:  http://larrysullivandesign.com/sourceprintmedia.com/_contact.html
    Here is the style sheet: http://larrysullivandesign.com/sourceprintmedia.com/sourceprintmedia.css
    I want the email link the same font size as the text around it, which is:
    class="bodycopy-content"
    I don't understand why it appears in the text-links page bottom (class="link-typeA") size.
    Problem #2:
    Dreamweaver WYSIWYG shows the text links at page bottom in the #00F blue, (see attached jpg: "scrncap_DW_WYSIWYG.jpg) when clearly they should display only as the grey in the external stylesheet. In the browser, they look good. Frustrating, DW bug?
    Problem #3:
    I tried to merge all the CSS into one style sheet but no matter what I try, DW won't let me. Now I have 3 CSS categories. (see attached jpg "scrncap-csspanel.jpg")  How come I can't have any/all style sheets in one?
    thanks in advance!
    -Larry

    Problem #1:
    You have defined a font size (8px - which btw, renders extremely small on my 1440x900 laptop, suggestion to follow) for the "a" tag.  Because of this any link regardless of where it is will be that font size.  Personally speaking I would recommend taking the font-size off of the "a" tag in your CSS document and then let the other classes control the font size throughout your page.
    Problem #2:
    You defined a class fine, but links do not work on a class.  They will always work on a:link, a:active, a:visited, and a:hover.  With this in mind what you need to do to change the color of links in a particular area is to do the following:
    .link-typeA a { CSS stuff goes here }
    That will change the links in that class to have certain features.
    Problem #3:
    This has to do with code in the header of your page where you have re-declared link styles.  Delete that from your page and you will be set
    Now back to Problem #1 about the fonts.  Your best bet is to use "em" to define your font size.  Think of the EM like a multiplier.  It takes the default size of the end-users settings and 1.1em would be 1.1x larger than the default font, 2em would be twice as large, and .5em would be half the size. This way your text is readable on all screens regardless of the end-users resolution.

  • CSS layout question regarding browser sizing

    Hi,
    Basically I want the basis of my site to be - A header, Main content with a background image, A Footer.
    I'm having problems however, I can't seem to get my footer to position where I want it i.e. at the bottom of the browser window at all times. I'm doing it as an AP div and how it should work is that it's fixed at the bottom of the page and then if the user resizes their browser in the y direction the footer moves up with it, over the top of the main content (but not the header which will have a higher z-index).
    The way I THOUGHT to do it was to firstly create a div tag for the whole page (780 pixels wide, auto left and right margins, auto height) and then inside that put my ap div header fixed height at the top and have another ap div as the footer, fixed height and tell it to position 0 pixels from the bottom. However this doesn't seem to do the trick, I'm sure I'm missing something really really simple. Anyone who's vaguely familiar with the program will be able to answer this I'm sure. If my question isn't clear please let me know and I'll rephrase,
    Ta

    There is no reason to use APDivs for such a simple layout.  Default CSS positioning (which is no positioning at all) is typically all you need for most layouts.  Build your HTML markup logically from top to bottom of page and your footer will naturally appear at page bottom.

  • Link to CSS problem (in Design View)

    Hello Dreamweaver experts,
    In the Design View Dreamweaver CS3 is not picking up the
    styles specified in a linked stylesheet. Let me explain...
    I am using an application in our office that relies upon HTML
    (but does not use a standard web browser).
    I need to refer to linked stylesheets using a variable like
    so;
    [example #1]
    <link href="{FILES_DIR}/path/css/stylesheet.css"
    rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    The use of the variable construction "{FILES_DIR}" eliminates
    the need to hard code a drive letter into the link which is
    preferrable. Without "{FILES_DIR}" I have to hard-code the drive
    letter like so;
    [example #2]
    <link
    href="file:///K|/additional-path-details/path/css/stylesheet.css"
    rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" -->
    Both examples above yield the same result in the application
    (the stylesheet is found and its styles properly applied).
    However, only with example #2 does Dreamweaver's "design
    view" pick up and apply the stylesheet. Dreamweaver cannot find the
    stylesheet or apply its styles using example #1.
    My question is how can I make Dreamweaver understand and
    apply what "{FILES_DIR}" means.
    Any tips, tricks or pointers would be most welcome...

    Did you look into "design-time" styles sheets? That may solve
    your problem.
    It won't take care of the path in the document though...

  • CSS problem-not rendering correctly in IE

    Hi Group,
    I'm relatively new to using CSS in my web sites, and have a
    question concerning a site that I'm having a problem with.
    The site is <
    http://lennyhirsh.com/> and
    the problems I'm having are with the top navigation 'rollovers' and
    the inline navigation at the bottom of each page. On Firefox and
    Safari, the site renders fine, and both the CSS rollovers and the
    bottom navigation are rendered right.
    However, I just looked at the site on Windows IE 5.5, and the
    top rollovers are cut off and the bottom navigation is showing
    vertically, instead of horizontally.
    If anyone might have a few moments to take a look and offer
    some guidance, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much!

    First off, you might like to check your page in a validator?
    I saw this in your code:
    <h1>Design Freedom – Universal Choice<h1/>
    It's wrong and it might cause some layout anomolies. It should be:
    <h1>Design Freedom – Universal Choice</h1>
    I don't think it's the only place it's happening.
    I only looked at the first site.

  • CSS problems in Dreamweaver CC?

    I am having problems getting the CSS to update properly when I make changes to the code in the CSS document in the left panel. I have to go into CSS Designer to make the changes in addition to writing code in the css document, but it is often easier to update the code in the document and not use CSS Designer.
    At one point, a bizarre thick border appeared on an element that I had NOT styled in either CSS Designer or in the CSS document. When I tried to change the border, the border did not show up in settings in CSS Designer or in the CSS document panel. The only place that affected the border was by using the Properties in the panel at the bottom of the app window. Once I accessed the "CSS Designer" from the Properties panel, I could see the settings and get rid of them.
    Wondering if this is some kind of bug? Or if anyone else is experiencing problems making changes to css in the css document window?

    I'll look for a DW forum. FYI, I'm on a Mac OS10.8.5, with most recent update for DW CC. I attached an external css to the file and it is shown correctly under Sources in CSS Designer (no extra styles are in the head of the document); that part works just fine. Formatting borders is pretty straight-forward—specify style, width, color for each side.
    The question is why changes to the css don't always take effect if I write the css as code in the css panel (on the left side using split view)—even when I do a save. When I ALSO change settings in CSS Designer the changes DO appear in the CSS code panel, even duplicating the code I just entered there. One time I had to use the "Edit Rule" in the Properties box at the bottom of the app window to get the css to update.
    The lack of consistency interferes with workflow.
    I wish I could write the css in the code panel and have a refresh button like the one for Source Code changes.
    Often it is much faster to write the css in the code panel. Scrolling through all the settings of the CSS Designer can be tedious and it's easy to make mistakes.
    An example of this css is a sidebar div with a bottom border. When I was setting this up, it ended up with a thick solid black bottom border and I had trouble making a change. Eventually I succeeded via the Properties panel, but it should have updated via the css code panel OR CSS Designer.
    #sidebar {
         border-bottom: thin dotted #055900;
    So, maybe this is a Creative Cloud issue, or maybe a DW issue.

  • Beginners CSS layout question - expanding a layer and not overlapping another

    Having got well and truly fed up of using tables to layout
    pages I am trying to gem up on CSS layer based layout. All well and
    good but despite the various tutorials I can't find an answer to
    this question...
    Q. I have a layout with layers to make a three column layout,
    however, I want to have a footer section at the bottom of the page
    that runs the same width as the three columns (you can see my WIP
    example here
    http://www.spiralfilm.com/clients/broadoak/index_css.html
    ). Problem is, as the centre section expands with more content, how
    do I make that section expand and not overrun the current footer
    section? I want it to expand like a table does and push the footer
    down.
    I'm sure it is simple but I just can't get my head around it!
    Thanks in advance for any pointers...

    blocks of content? The

    Yes, it would be one way to do that. A div tag is simply a
    container for
    other HTML elements, like a table. The problem you are having
    comes with
    using DW 'layers' to contain text. As Thierry suggested, this
    is because
    absolutely positioned elements (i.e., DW 'layers') are
    removed from the
    normal flow, preventing them from interacting with adjacent
    page elements -
    this means that when the text inside them expands, it will
    begin to overlap
    other content. See my demonstration of this here -
