Cube compression will affect any data availability

Hi,
have an issue where I have a user running exactly the same report with the same selection criteria but getting different results.
The report was run from backlog this morning at 09:56 and again at 10:23. Although the batch was delayed, the data was actually loaded prior to 09:45. However, there was a cube compress running between 09:45 and 10:11.
So, the first report was run during the compress, the second after the compress was complete.
Could the compress process affect data availability to the end users? I can find no other explanation for this behaviour.

one thing in advance: The next only applies to oracle databases. I have no experience with other databases.
the compression will usually not affect the reported data. But in case of the user doing the reporting while the compression is ongoing, it is indeed possible that the query will deliver wrong results. The reason is, that the collapsing collects the data of the not yet collapsed infopackages into the F table. The query will usually start parallel processes on all the available infopackage E tables and on the F fact table. Because of the amount of data F- table is larger, so the job there will be the longest running. After collecting the results, the results are added up.
Depending on the timing of the collapse run and the timing of the query it is possible that the collapsed data package was already successfully packed in the fact table, but the deletion of the infopackage was not completed (result: Key figures to high). Or alternativly the infopackage was already deleted but the F-table not completly commited - because of the query (result Key figures to low).
All in all I would strongly recommend to do collapsing at times where no query is run on the cube.

Hardcoded passwords into the scripts isn't a good practice, but if you're not sure about yours, go to the directory(es) where you have them (p.e. /usr/local/bin) and run
<i># grep <b>your_pwd</b> *.sh</i>
It must show you if there's this word into one of the shell scripts.

Changing the attibutes of a field in the table will affect existing data

If I want to changne the field attribute of particular field in the table, this table whoes field is changed is used in 15 more tables.Will that affect the data in production after changing the field attributes in all the 15 tables.

I am a forensic examiner with an iPod 5G in Recovery Mode. As a 'non Apple' person, what does 'restore' imply with reference to the 5G? Does it affect any data on teh iPod, like pics, and videos?

As stated in the title, I am a forensic examiner, although most of my work is on Windows devices. My problem is an iPod 5G with Touch Wheel that I received to exam, and I have not been able to get anything from conventional methods. But not really understanding enough about the Apple architecture and iPods, when I plug it into a computer, it appears to be in Recovery Mode, and calls for a Restore. The questions I have are:
1) How does the iPod get into Recovery mode
2) How to get it out of Recovery mode
3) But more importantly, what does Restore do to the device? If there happen to be items of interest (pics, videos, etc), does the restore affect them?

Default_maintenance_plan scheduler window will affect any running services

Hi All,
I am having Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7 on windows server.
There are many spatial application running on this which is very critical. I having the issue from the spatial team that the service is getting crash many time this eventually making us to restart the spatial services which rely on this database.
When I check the spatial log all the failiures happend at 10:00 PM.
While checking the alert log there is default_maintenance_plan scheduler window is kicking of exaclt on the same time (10:00 PM).
Whether the meintenance sheduler window is going to impact any running services which rely on my database?
Could you please guide me on this?

It may affect other processes. You should change the default maintenance window to start later when your spatial processing has finished.

Where will be spatial data available to purchase or download?

I got stuck in getting the spatial data for Asian countries especially for the Middle east countries. Can anyone help me in getting the spatial data for the Middle east countries? I was able to get the NAVTEQ data for USA and World samples from gfk but it has only for few countries and didn't cover any of the Middle east countries. Please help me on the same.

11g Cube not showing any data with no Rejected records

Hi David ,
Strangely one of my 11g Cube is not showing data from today as it is showing all records rejected . However when I lookup Rejected records table I didn't find any records .Not sure what is happening . When I want to peep out the AWM queries from CUBE_BUILD_LOG and ran to the database in the AWM schema the records are retruning perfectly fine . I wonder same query is firing during Cube load but without any data ? My Cube build script has only LOAD and Aggregate .
after maintain My dimensions data are looking fine but no data populated after Cube maintenance . My MV switch off across all dimensions and cubes .
I navigate to CUBE_OPERATION_LOG and not able to comprehend about the content.
Any advice ?

I dropped the AW and create new from exported XML and maintain all dimensions and then rebuild . Still have the issue :(

Also I sustpect whethere it is a issue due to below error caused when I click on one of my Position_Hier view from AWM : even if I select that view it is throwing the error in SQL developer after displaying first couple of rows (while page down)

I have an old mini running os x 10.4 . im about to upgrade to 10.6 (the highest this dinosaur will upgrade to) but i have a ton of music recording software installed and need to know if it will affect it . please help ? any of it

Sorry about that, yes, 10.5 and 10.6 on Intel can run Firefox 4.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
You could install Firefox 3.6 over Firefox 4 (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

Upgrading from 10.4.11 to 10.5.6 - Will I lose any data or application?

I forgot that I have a 10.5.6 family upgrade disc. I've upgraded my kid's Mac Mini and was not sure about upgrading my MacBook Pro then.
So I'm thinking I should upgrade my MacBook Pro now but I am not sure if I will lose any data or application (and application specific information). Can you folks please clarify and/or provide best way to perform the upgrade?
I use my MacBook Pro on a daily basis from office document, browsing, audio recording and editing, video editing and photo editing that I can't imagine my MacBook Pro having a problem.
I'm also hoping that with the upgrade, my Superdrive will somehow come back to life and be useful again.

Unlikely.
That usually means a hardware problem. No operating system update will fix hardware problems.
I'd get it fixed by an authorized service center. If you are in the U.S. there are places that can do it cheaper if you are out of warranty:

Showing No Data Available in SSRS Chart.

I have a report where in there is chart available. The property NoDataMessage has been set to 'No Data Available'. But the message does not appear even if there is no data for the chart. Can any one please let me know if there is anything more to perform?

Please take the following steps, and see if it works for you.
1. Select the chart from the Properties Window drop-down list.
2. Expand the Chart node.
3. Expand the NoDataMessage node.
4. Type in (Caption):
No Data Available.
5. Select “False” from the (Hidden) drop-down list.
After complete these steps, when there is no data, there will show “No Data Available” instead of chart.

Cube Compression - How it Affects Loading With Delete Overlapping Request

Our scenario is that we have a process chain that loads a data to infocube and that has delete overlapping step. I just want to ask how does the cube compression affects the loading with delete overlapping request. Is there any conflict/error that will raise? Kindly advice.

In the scenario you have mentioned:
First the info cube would be loaded.
Next when it goes to the step i.e delete overlapping request: in this particular step, it checks if the request is overlapping (with the same date or accd to the overlapping condition defined in the infopackage, if the data has been loaded).
If the request is overlapping, then only it deletes the request. Otherwise, no action would be taken. In this way,it checks that data is not loaded twice resulting in duplicasy.
It has nothing to do with compression and in no way affect compression/loading.

The 15" Retina's will have better performance than any 13" Retina. Not only do the 15" machines have dedicated GPU's, but they also have quad-core processors, whereas the 13" Retina's only have dual-core processors.

Importing vinvl albums via garage band have to import tunes individually .tunes willnot recombine into one album. I understand that it is because data available on cd's is not present on vinyl..any clues on how to fix this?

iTunes will not assign track names to items imported from vinyl. You will have to label the files yourself in the Get Info window. As long as you give all the tracks on an album the same album information and the same artist information they should group together. if the artists differ then you need to give all the tracks one common album artist (often "Various Artists")in addition to individual track artist.

I don't think there will be a solution to this. Exchange 2003 just isn't supported.
