Currency Translation in Query on InfoSet

Hi Experts,
I need to do a currency conversion from 0LOC_CURRENCY to USD on an Infoset. The Data flow is DSOs --> Infoset --> Multiprovider --> Query. I want to do this Translation on Posting date which is in my DSO, Infoset and Multiprovider. I have created custom Translation Type on Postind date (with Exchange Rate Type = M, Fixed Target Currency = USD, Time Reference as Special Infoobject = 0PSTNG_DATE in RSCUR) in RSCUR but in the Query, I cannot see this custom conversion type available, as in report the infoobject 0PSTNG_DATE is available as '<Infoset Name>__FXX' .
Is there any paricular setting need to be done on an infoset to incorporate Currency Translation on Query ? Also, if there is any other procedure available for Infoset Currency Translation, please let me know.
Thanks fin advance or all your help.
Regards,
Dibyendu

Hi,
As I want to do my currency translation on an Infoset the infoobjects do not appear in traditional format. 0PSTING_DATE has taken a name '<Infoset Name>__FXX' (like ZISCURTR__F24). How can I put this reference in RSCUR 'Time Ref' tab in Infoset option over there ? It gives only a F4 help option (donot allow to write something there) and my infoset is not available in the list. Is there any particular setting that I can do in my infoset to make that available in RSCUR F4 help ?
Please suggest.

Dibyendu

  • Currency translation on Query level (YTD exchange rate)

    Hi Experts,
I want to implment the currency translation logic in query as below. Please advise what I should do.
    Case 1
    Variable entry screen
    Posting date (range): 01.09.2007 - 31.03.2008
    Query result
Sales amount figures from 01.09.2007 - 31.12.2007 => use exchage rate at 31.12.2007
Sales amount figures from 01.01.2008 - 31.03.2008 => use exchage rate at 31.03.2008
    Case 2
    Variable entry screen
    Posting date (range): 01.09.2006 - 30.06.2008
    Query result
Sales amount figures from 01.01.2006 - 31.12.2006 => use exchage rate at 31.12.2006

Sales amount figures from 01.01.2008 - 30.06.2008 => use exchage rate at 30.06.2008
In query, key figure sales amount will be shown in ONE column. Please give a hint how to implement this issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Helen

    Hi Helen,
I guess you are trying to user conversion based on data record. data record intunr dependent on variable entry.
So for the definition of currency translation, use time reference as end of calender year/quarter and info object as posting date.
This should work fine for the same key figure, based on posting date, as per the example provided by you.
    Hope I am clear enough.

  • Not able to use variable on 0LOC_CURRCY in Currency Translation in Query

    Hi Gurus,
I am using currecny translation in query for a key figure for which currecy is 0LOC_CURRCY.
Exchange Rate which i am using is updated Yearly. So time reference is 0Calyear (star of calendar year).
Source Currency option is - Source Currency from Data Record
Target Currency - Target Currency Selection with Translation
For target currency, I am using a user input variable which is on characteristics 0CURRENCY.
I want to use a variable which should be on characteristics 0LOC_CURRCY (because it gives Key and Text both in the selection screen of the query).  I have created a variable on 0LOC_CURRCY but I am not able to find it in the target currency while defining currency conversion for the key figure.
Please let me know if anybody has any solution.
    Regards,
    Gaurav

    Hi Gaurav,
Instead of defining target currency as "Target Currency Selection with Translation", use the option of "Target currency from Variable" and mention the varibale created on 0loc_currcy there.
This way, you dont need to mention the target currency variable on the key figure. It would autmatically be populated.

  • Show Currency Translation Type

    Hi,
I don't know if it's possible but I want to see te currency translation type that I use in a query. For example, If a user make a currency translation it's possible to catch the currency and the currency translation type that he choose and show them :
    - in the title ?
    - in a column or in a text item of my default web template ?
    Thanks for your help
    Aleksi

    Hi,
The parameters that determine the exchange rate are the source and target currencies, exchange rate type and the time reference for the translation.
To define a translation type you have to define the exchange rate type, the time reference, and how and when the inverse exchange rate is used. Entering the target currency is optional.
&#9679;      Exchange rate type: The exchange rate type distinguishes between exchange rates that are valid in the same time frame, for example, the bid rate, ask rate or middle rate. The exchange rate types are stored in a central table (TCURV) and can by maintained in Customizing using BI Customizing Implementation Guide ® General Settings ® Currencies  ® Check Currency Types. Alternatively you can specify any variable that exists for InfoObject 0RTYPE.
&#9679;      Inverse exchange rate: You can choose whether the inverse exchange rate is to be used for the translation type. If you choose translation with the inverse exchange rate, then the reverse exchange rate is used in the relevant translation from one currency to another. Translation using the inverse exchange rate is useful, for example, when values from the original documents have been translated before being saved in the data targets and you want to restore the original values.
You have maintained the following exchange rates:
    EUR  ®  USD 0.940
    USD  ®  EUR 1.070
When translating from USD to EUR using the inverse exchange rate, a rate of 1/0.940 = 1.064 is used and not a rate of 1.070.
&#9679;      Source currency: The source currency is the currency that is to be translated. You have the following options:
&#9675;       The source currency is determined dynamically using the data record. This is always the case when you perform currency translation in the Business Explorer.
&#9675;       The source currency is determined dynamically using a specified InfoObject (characteristic). During the data load process, the source currency can be determined either using the data record or a specified characteristic bearing master data (see example: Defining Target Currencies Using InfoObjects. Determining the source currency using an InfoObject is performed in the same way).
&#9675;       You can use a fixed source currency in planning functions. Data records with the same currency key as the source currency are translated.
&#9675;       You can specify any variable that exists for InfoObject 0CURRENCY. You can also use these options in planning functions.
    &#9679;      Target currency:
To determine the target currency, you have the following options:
&#9675;       You can establish that the target currency be determined upon translation. In the Query Designer under the properties for the relevant key figure, you specify either a fixed target currency or a variable to determine the target currency.
&#9675;       You can enter a fixed target currency (for example, ‘EUR’).
&#9675;       You can specify any variable that exists for InfoObject 0CURRENCY.
&#9675;       In the currency translation type, you can specify an InfoObject which is used to determine the target currency upon translation. In characteristic maintenance on the Tab Page: Business Explorer, you have to determine a currency attribute. For more information, see the example under Defining Target Currencies Using InfoObjects. If the Only Use in Transformation indicator is set, you can also enter InfoObjects that do not have a currency attribute set in InfoObject maintenance. InfoObjects that are entered here have to be available in the source and contain a currency as an attribute.
&#9675;       You can specify an InfoSet: This is only necessary if you are determining the target currency using an InfoObject that exists in the InfoSet more than once. You enter the field alias so that the InfoObject can be specified uniquely.
&#9679;      Time reference: The time reference for the currency translation can be either fixed or variable.
If the time reference is fixed, the time at which the exchange rate is determined is independent of the data. You have the following options:
&#9675;       You can establish that the time reference be determined upon translation.
&#9675;       You can select the current date.
&#9675;       You can specify a fixed date as the key date.
&#9675;       You can specify any variable that exists for InfoObject 0DATE.
&#9675;       You can establish that the query key date be used. This is determined in the query settings.
If the time reference is variable, the time at which the exchange rate is determined is decided by a time characteristic value.
&#9675;       A variable time reference can, for example, be determined using the end or start of a fiscal year or calendar year, a period and a month – or even to the exact day. The following standard time characteristics are available: 0FISCYEAR, 0FISCPER, 0CALYEAR, 0CALQUARTER, 0CALMONTH, 0CALWEEK and 0CALDAY.
&#9675;       The time reference can also be determined using a customer-specific InfoObject of type date (for example, trading day). Note that this InfoObject has to have the same properties as the standard InfoObject selected in the variable time reference or must reference it.
&#9675;       You can specify an InfoSet: This is only necessary if you are determining the target currency using an InfoObject that exists in the InfoSet more than once. You enter the field alias so that the InfoObject can be specified uniquely.
In the Business Explorer, you can only set time variable currency translations in query definition, and not for an executed query. See also Setting Variable Target Currency in the Query Designer.
&#9675;       In the Time Adjustment field of type INT4, you can specify whole numbers with a +/- sign.
&#9675;       In the Time Adjustment from Variable field, you can specify formula variables (1FORMULA). As these values of the variables may have to be whole numbers, they are rounded to whole numbers (integers) where necessary.
The time adjustment (regardless of whether it is fixed or variable) is always related to the InfoObject specified under Variable Time Reference.
Example of a time adjustment of -3:
The variable time reference is To the exact day and the InfoObject under Variable Time Reference is 0CALDAY. Instead of 07.11.2006, after the time adjustment, 04.11.2006 is used for the translation.
The variable time reference is End of Week and the InfoObject under Variable Time Reference is 0CALWEEK. Instead of 52.2004, the week 49.2004 is calculated and the end date is calculated from this.

  • Currency Translation for Calculated Key figures

Hello Friends I want to use the Currency Translation for Calculated Key figures.
But when I go to Query and go to conversion tab it is always greyed out. Does that mean we can set the fixed conversion type for calculated key figures. like ZSAD Total debit - credit -flow value.
What is the way to do fixed currency translation in query for calculated key figures.
All the below is done now just want to specify this in query but I can'nt since it is greyed out.
    All the below is done
I have created a Currency Translation Type " FiscperConversion" "ZVHGR" now this has Exchange Rate Type from Variable "ZVARN" (Which is a variable single value manual input on 0RTYPE Infoobject for exchange rate.)
    2. Now Currency Tab: Target Currency is selected from Variable placed in the Report. ZRPVAR.
    3. Now the Variable Time Reference is used. Standard Infoobject 0FISCPER
    which is beginning of period.

    Hi soniya
Your calculated KF is result of some calculation ...so system will not allow u to do any translation on it...to get CT on CKF you should do it on base key figure...still if you wish to do then you can create a formula variable having processing type a customer exit...write code in cmod to rad exchange rate and multiply ur CKF by this formula variable....
    Thanks

  • Currency translation key based on posting period 0fiscper3

    Hi Folks,
The requirement is to perform currency translation in query based on the end of period. The query uses the time characteristics as fiscal year (0FISCYEAR) and posting period (0FISCPER3).
I have maintained the currency translation key using RRC1 with variable time ref as 0FISCPOER3 .On executing the query I am getting error that 'No Exchange rate maintained ' .But the exchange rates are maintained in the system.
SAP Help states that the variable time reference has to be a standard InfoObject as 0FISCPER or 0FISCYEAR   or customer defined Infobject with type date.
0FISCPER3  is of type NUMC .
Is this the reason that I am not getting the currency translation ?? or I am missing out in some settings.
Please advise .Due points will be granted .
    Thx,
    Gautam

    Hi Gautam,
0FISCPER3 just stores the period values as 001, 002, 003 etc, with no reference to the year (and hence no reference to a fixed point in time). Try create the RRC1 key using 0FISCPER and use this in your query.
    Hope this helps...

  • Currency Translation in BO 4.0 Analysis Edition Office 1.1

    Hi,
We are using Analysis Edition Office 1.1 for reporting and SAP BW system as source. After I create the report, I would like to change the currency for USD instead of report currency which is CAD. We have an option of Currency Translation available (in Measures), however when I try to use this option to convert the values to USD, it throws an error message:
    An exception occurred.
Send the attached log file to your administrator.
SAP BI Addin will be closed.
If you want to save the data in the document, you must save a copy of the document because the data needed for  the addin functions cannot be saved correctly. (ID102001)
I also checked 'Advanced Options' in User Settings, so that in the Currency Translation window 'Use Currency Translation from Query Definition' was enabled. But this option is greyed out in my reports.
Now, if I run the same report for testing in BEx Analyzer, the currency translation works as expected. This would mean that it may not be a problem in the BEx query settings.
Is there something I am missing or some settings in Analysis Office 1.1 I need to configure to get this working ?
    Thanks,
    Prasad

Have you downloaded the latest version of Analysis Office, version 1.2, which has been GA since January 31st?  It is now on SP 4.
I would download the latest version of Analysis Office to see if that works.

  • Display selected currency translation type in BEX webappl report

    Hi everybody,
we use currency translation at query runtime. We do not select the translation type in the variable screen but use the possibility with Context menu -> Calculations and Translations -> Global Currency Translation
Everything works fine, the conversion is done correctly BUT I want somehow display the selected tranlation type on the report! Is this possible? As I know there is the possibility in web applications to call a class method at runtime, maybe there exists a function module or class which can return the actual translation type used.
There must be something like that because when I select the context menu "Gloabl Currency Translation" again a second time, the actual translation type is selected in the combo box.
We also need the information on the generated pdf dokuments.
    Thanks for any hints!
    Regards
    Oskar

    Dear Oskar,
have you found a way to display the currency translation info in web report? Or could somebody give me enlightment whether this is possible? Thank you in advance.

  • Curr Translation in Query for Current rate

My requirement is to have a fixed target currency as USD, and convert that to local currency (multiple as applicable for each record)   after query execution.
So I selected the KF in the query with Conversion type = 0MEANTODAY. and Target curr = USD.
then i execute the query to get values in USD. Now when i right click and uncheck the box which says " Consider Currency translation from Query Definition" ; I get all the values in Local currency.
the problem is - this conversion is not picking up current exchange rate - it's picking the one for past week.
What am I doing wrong here and how can i resolve this without any backend development ?

Thanks Veerendra for the input although that did not resolve my issue.
you're saying I should check the data is in Sync between the ECC and BI system - right ? - I will do that.
But i tried to tie back the exchange rate that the report output is giving with TCURR in NBI , TCURR in ECC and V_TCURR in ECC. It does not match up with any of these. that's what's bothering me - that where is it really reading the exchange rate from ?
    Thanks,

  • Multiple currency translation in one single query execution.

    Hi folks.
I have today running in production, a report like:
The user input a period and a version (multiple single values selecion)
    - Period
    - Version (0VERSION)
And the report returt as follow
                                  2010
              Version            A1         Q1
    Key Figure 1        500BRL     400BRL
    Key Figure 2        300BRL     200BRL
Now, the user requires a currency translation based on the version selected in the filter. I mean, for version A* use one exchange rate type.
For Q* version, use another exchange rate type...and so one...
For instance, the solution is to create a currency translation type like:
Exchange rate type from Var. and create this var as user exit with an abap that checks the version selected by the user in the
report and than return the exchange rate type based on this version...
This solution works only if the user input only one version in the filter. But, he needs to input three, four..versions and
in one execution of the report, translate the currency using a exchange rate type for each version.
    Ex: Exchange Rate for version A1 (1.8USD = 1BRL) Exchange Rate for version Q1 (1.5USD = 1BRL)
    Then, the report should return:
                    2010
            Version              A1         Q1
    Key Figure 1        277,7USD   266,6USD
    Key Figure 2        166USD     133,3USD
I know it's a little complex to describe, but if someone know how to do it, I'll aprecciate.
    Best Regards,
    Thiago

Can you explain your query KFs structure..
Seems that in your report there is 1 KF for each version....but you have 1 input variable which holds multiple values ...If thats right..then how are you getting values for diff versions from 1 & same variable..
No, there is one key figure for each document..
    for example,
    (doc/calday/version/sales revenue)
    DOC00001   01012011   0       100BRL
    DOC00002   01012011   A1    120BRL
    DOC00003   01012011   R1    110BRL
In the report, the user can filter by one or more version, and based on wich version he selects, for each version we need to use a specific currency translation.
The structure in the query is
    In Lines
    Sales Revenue
    In columns
    Calday / Version

  • Currency translation for a restricted key figure in Query designer

    Dear Experts,
In my query i am using a restricted Keyfigure (ZRKF1 which is reusable). I have to change the currency translation key of the restricted Key Figure  from zcur1 to zcur2. I am not able to edit zrkf1 Currency translation in the properties( It is in gray colour) ,while i can do it for a normal keyfigure.  if i edit zrkf1 then other queries will be affected. How should i solve this? Can i copy and paste the zrkf1 to zrkf2 in order to use zrkf2 with currency translation zcur2 in my query ? How can i coy and paste restricted key figure?
    Thanks,
    Riya

    Hello Riya
I think you can't change the currency transaltion type for RKF... to change it in RKF just make the changes in the KF which you have used in RKF....
If you don't want to change the CURR translation type in KF1 than copy it paste it (KF2)and change in that KF2...now u can use KF2 in restricted KF...
    Thanks

                                    vishal

in the report, you need only use the context sensitive menu to perform a currency translation or you can set it in the properties of the key figure in the query definition. thats the easy part, before all that works you need to have the currency table filled in with the translation factors (the easiest way is to upload it from your r/3 system, one of the choices against the source system in the source system tab - <b>"transfer exchange rates"</b>) then create a translation key (or see if one already exists)- t-code <b>RRC1</b> for 3.5 and earlier or <b>RSCUR</b> for 2004s. translation type M is standard and there are a few fields to fill out, but it is pretty easy to guess your way through it.
