Try this: extraneous characters on the end of your password

Can someone else verify this?
try adding some extraneous characters to the end of your password on ssh login.
For my fully patched solaris 9 and 10 systems the garbage on the end is accepted as if it was the correct, exact length version.
Smells like a bug, though I can barely believe it would have survived this long..
thanks

Standard unix crypt only holds first 8 characters of password.
Its not a bug, its a feature :-).
If you need longer password then you can change the password crypt scheme.
This can be done in solaris 10, but I don't think it can be done in solaris 9.
Its controlled by /etc/security/policy.conf

• BUG: Extra characters at the end of attachment file names

I received complaints that my attachments didn't open on the PC's of the recipients. After I saw the messages I noticed there were extra characters at the end of their file names. That's why they wouldn't open. When I looked into my sent mail folder it was there as well. The addition took place when I sent the mail, while composing everything looked fine. It took me a while to realize the pattern. There was one extra for every non-ASCII character in the file name.
Apparently Mail.app is using two different libraries. The other one counts the non-ASCII characters as two while the other doesn't. I don't know whether Finder still uses MacRoman or Unicode, but this seems to relate to double-byte characters.
The short term solution is to use only ASCII for file names, but that's not what OS X is all about.

The class files are broken. Recompile them. If you're uploading them, doublecheck if the FTP program used doesn't do mad things with binary files.

• Is there a way to prevent Robohelp WebHelp from appending characters to the end of the URL address for a TOC Entry?

I am running RoboHelp 10 on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64 bit OS.
WebHelp is appending characters to the end of the TOC entry's URL address. The characters "bc-n" where n is a number are being generated for all of the TOC Page Entries when I generate WebHelp output. We are exporting the HTML files for import into an application. The TOC Page Properties Link to: property does not contain the characters in RoboHelp.
We have standardized names defined for our application and the appended characters are not going to work in the application.
cid:[email protected]
When I use the generated html output in IE10 Version 10.0.9200.16635 Update Versions: 10.0.7 (KB2846071) the characters show up in the URL when I hover the mouse over the TOC entry as shown in the screenshot below.
cid:[email protected]
The two screenshots show that the Link to property does not have the characters "bc-7" but the URL address does.
Is there a setting or way to configure RoboHelp to prevent Robohelp WebHelp from generating and appending characters to the end of the URL address for TOC Entries?

I have never known Rh add any characters so I think something else is at play here. Please open one of the sample projects and see what happens there. Click Open on the RoboHelp Starter page and then click Samples in the ribbon on the left.

The app is on the home screen, and its downloading is blocked at its end, without showing the app like it should when it's finished downloadung. Does someone can help me and fix this please?

Hi Tom
Thanks for replying!
I had heard that these switches didn't stack unless everything was identical.
I only tried it at all out of pure desperation.
I've applied and tested every version 3 firmware in standalone mode via a console cable and xmodem.
They either never come up properly receiving decompression errors and reboot constantly in a loop.
Occasionally they stall / jam and stay there displaying the same error with no rebooting.
And twice out of 80-100 times I got it to boot to the username and password screen in standalone mode.
But as soon as I made a change it crashed and started the rebooting cycle again.

I attempted to update the software of my dated iphone 3G last evening. My phone was constatantly connected with iTunes during the process. The iOS version 4.2 downloaded and installed successfully on my phone...only to state at the end that "Your SIM does not seem to be supported. Please insert a supported SIM....". It gives me no option on the phone other than making an Emergency call. I can't even restart or reboot the phone, or access springboard, etc. The black screen displays a USB cable plugged in to the iTunes logo. Incidentlly, I have been using this SIM for many months on this phone. I also tried inserting other functional SIMs. None of this works. Can someone help please!! Thanks,

Maybe it was hacked before and now through the update it's locked back to the original carrier.

• VISA Read Losing Characters off the end of the output string

Hi,
So I am writing a VI to take an output string of data from an ardunio Uno and parsing it. I am using the Read Visa vi to grab the string from output of the device. In the end I will be connecting a device that actually gives value in this type of string format : (#80212164,2289,2292,2296,2300,2328,2289,2297,2290,2300,2308,2292,2295,2298,2289,22,24,0*).
So after a large number of loops, the program starts to drop the last few characters of the string that it outputs. So the string output from Visa Read will read something like (#80212164,2289,2292,2296,2300,2328,2289,2297,2290,2300,2308,2292,2295,2298,2289,22,24,). The only way to fix this problem after it has occured is to completely close labview (all the way). Once I open it again and start running the program, all is fine in the world.
Anyone ever have this issue? I have been trying to debug this in different ways and the only weird symptom that I have other than the Visa Read function losing a few characters of the string is the fact that looking at the Bytes at Port after I Visa Read, is that it starts showing five bytes instead of zero.
attached is my most recent attempt at solving this issue.
Note: The Ardunio outputs a string of this format every 2 seconds with the values being incrimental over a specified range.(#80212164,2289,2292,2296,2300,2328,2289,2297,2290,2300,2308,2292,2295,2298,2289,22,24,0*)
Solved!

Ardunio(StringOutput).vi ‏36 KB

So i did a long data collect and It looks like ever 43minutes and 24 seconds the system goes from cutting off the last 5 characters to not cutting off the last 4 characters.
As I cant see how Labview would be causing that, I am going to try and dig into the Ardunio and solve that issue... hopefully when thats done I can simplfy my code like you guys pointed out.
Thanks!

• Extra characters at the end of each servlet response

I am attempting to develop a servlet that sits between a server and a browser, and simply martials arguments to send to the server, and then forwards responses to the web browser. When working with Weblogic 5.1 sp 11, things worked fine, except that an extra new line was added to the end of each response. I am now testing against Weblogic 7.0, and instead of a new line the characters "null" (not including the quotes) are added. I have tried to experiment to see if anything I have written or control is causing these characters to be sent to the client, but as far as I can tell there is nothing there. The I write my final character, close the ouput stream, and the client recieves bytes I did not send. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have ideas on how to fix this problem. Thanks for any input,
Nathan

Yes! There are advantages with jar files.
The jar tool combines multiple files into a single JAR archive file. jar is a general-purpose archiving and compression tool, based on ZIP and the ZLIB compression format. However, jar was designed mainly to facilitate the packaging of java applets or applications into a single archive. When the components of an applet or application (.class files, images and sounds) are combined into a single archive, they may be downloaded by a java agent (like a browser) in a single HTTP transaction, rather than requiring a new connection for each piece. This dramatically improves download times. jar also compresses files and so further improves download time. In addition, it allows individual entries in a file to be signed by the applet author so that their origin can be authenticated. The syntax for the jar tool is almost identical to the syntax for the tar command. A jar archive can be use as a class path entry, whether it is compressed or not.
If u require more help on jar file, you can go to the Java Tutorial available on java.sun.com

• Truncate 4 characters from the end of a field

How would I go about trimming the last for characters in a field.

If you are truncating it using the Picture, it should always work. If you are doing it via the !format event, does your data file have a field with the same name as where you put the code?
I have to admit I dont have a need for truncation so Ive not done any testing besides Test Presentment. The SSN sample came from an actual production form. There isnt anything Im aware of that has to be added to jfpreamble we dont have any form (out of 100s) that has custom jfpreamble coding.
FYI: We almost exclusively use global field definitions in our data files. If you are using field field definitions that might make a difference. For example, this is a sample from the end of a data file:
>...
^global Authorized_Rep_Name
G KOCH
^global TimeRequested
11:54:21
^global DateRequested
12/05/2006
^global 12_Address_lines
MRS BARBARA PRODUCTION
MODIFIED 5606 MARK
ADDRESS LINE3
SEATTLE WA 98679-8816
^global CP_IA_Record_No
9
^global CP_Address_lines_REC
9
^global DAT_File_Name
PF_0020_20061205_115421
^global DoNotMail
^FORM _base_page_v1r3.mdf
^field MannerOfServiceImage
C:\JetForm\Forms\FirstClass.jpg
^FORM f-01-115-v1r4.mdf
^FORM f-01-115-v1r4-s.mdf
^FORM sep-pg9-v1r3-cso.mdf
^FORM f-01-115-v1r4-cso.mdf
If we used field definitions it would look more like:
>...
^form 1111111
^field AAAA
DATA-AAAA
^field BBBBB
DATA-BBBBB
^form 222222
^field CCCCC
DATA-CCCCC
^field BBBBB
DATA-BBBBB
In the first example the data is only defined once, followed by the forms it is to be applied to. In the second example if the data appears on two forms it has to be defined for each form.
I dont know if this would cause a difference in your truncation problem.

• How do I get rid of this annoying tag at the end of my wordpress posts: // ![CDATA[ div id="" class="_mp3rocket_overlay_style" style="left: ; top: ; width: ;

Whenever I post on my blog, this shows up at the bottom:

<nowiki>//

//
</nowiki>

How do I get rid of it?

Does the name mp3rocket ring a bell?? It may be related to a browser add-on. You could check for and possibly disable or remove such an add-on here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons
Try both the Plugins and Extensions categories.
If it doesn't seem related to an add-on, perhaps it's something added by a Wordpress plugin, or your blog theme. If you provide a link to your blog, a volunteer here could take a look and see whether they get the same text.

• CR & LF characters at the end of records when using delimited flat file (CR is missing)

Hi All,
I have a requirement where data of SQL query needs to be loaded to a CSV file.
The row delimiter of the CSV file has to be CR-LF.
In the flat file connection manager, I have mentioned Header Row delimiter as "{CR}{LF}" and under columns section, row delimiter is specified as "{CR}{LF}".
But when I open the detsnation CSV file using notepad++, I see only "LF" at the end of all rows.
Can you please let me know how can I get both CR & LF at the end of each row
Below is the screen shot of the flat file connection manager which I have used for CSV destination file:
Raksha

Hi Raksha,
Just as Vaibhav said, I’m curious why you need use “CR & LF” as row delimiter in Flat File Connection Manage. Since you can use "CR" as row delimiter in Flat File Connection Manager and it worked fine, you can directly specify "CR"
as row delimiter in Flat File Connection Manage.
Besides, if you still want to replace “LF” with “CR & LF” in the text file, we can use Notepad++’s Find/Replace feature or Edit -> EOL Conversion to achieve the goal. Then we can specify "CR & LF" as row delimiter in Flat File
Connection Manage.
The following blog about conversion between “LF” and “CR & LF” row delimiter in Notepad++ is for your reference:

• TS1702 what do you do if every time you try to open an app it asks for your password first?

my apps weren't opening so i went into settings and updated my software it took about half an hour to update and now my apps wont open unless i put in my password for my apple ID account, please help me

See if this helps.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in again. See if that cures the problem.

• Garbage characters at the end of Caller-ID

Hi, I've got a VPN 3000 (4.7.2j) set up to do AAA for the admin interface to my ACS server (4.1(4)).
This account has a NAR on it and the NAR denies the authentication request and the reason seems to be that the Caller-ID field contains a suffix of garbage characters, " } " it looks like in the ACs log interface.
Where can this come from? Is this a VPN3k bug or an ACS bug? How can I tell?
Thanks in advance,
