Current acquiring with NI PXI 7831R

I am using PXI 1042 for my academic project. My objective is to acquire the leakage current of insulator for analyzing it further.
Initially we tried to use PXI 5112, but could not succeed with it as it is not possible to acquire current waveforms with PXI 5112. The value of leakage current ranges from 0 to 200mA.
My query is whether I could use PXI 7831R for acquiring the leakage current of the insulator, with the range I have mentioned above. Is there any programming or pre-configuration of PXI 7831R before starting of acquiring the current waveform. And also please clarify me about the connectors I need to use.
Thank you in advance.

The analog input can acquire signals at 200 kHz. The digital inputs can acquire signals in one clock cycle of the FPGA, so the actual acquisition speed for digital depends on your specific application code, but can be as fast as 40 MHz. Processing of data also depends on the amount of code in your processing routine.
As an alternative to the onboard analog inputs, it is possible to use a faster external A/D converter and use the high speed digital interface to read the data from the external ADC.

  • Accessing the 40MHz clock on the PXI-7831R FPGA Module

How do you access the 40MHz clock on the PXI-7831R FPGA Module?
I'm trying to the FPGA to do RS-422 communication with UART and HDLC protocols. I want to divide the clock signal to generate the necessary baud rates. I've downloaded the FPGA serial examples as a start, but I'm looking for a direct connection to the 40MHz signal.
I'm Using LabVIEW 7.1 and FPGA Module 1.1 with the LabVIEW Embedded Project Structure.

    settlesj,
If you are looking to have access to a 40MHz digital signal,  it is possible to generate and acquire one using 7831R and LabVIEW FPGA module.  To do this you would need to take advantage of the different compile speeds available with the FPGA module. The available compile clock frequencys are: 40MHz, 80MHz, 120MHz, 160MHz, 200MHz
For example to generate a 40MHz pulse train you could compile with 80MHz clock frequency (2 clock pulses are needed for a square wave period).
You will have to be careful when generating code because compiling with a clock frequency higher than the default one (40MHz) could give compile errors in some cases. These errors could happen more frequently if the code is more complex and needs more time to be executed.
I have attached an example program that generates a 40 MHz signal on a digital line.  From there you could divide down the clock rate to which ever specified baud rates you needed.  As a side not the LabVIEW FPGA 8.0 Module added the ability to derive additional clocks from FPGA base clocks in a LabVIEW project.  Hope this helps.

  • Scanning of analog inputs in PXI 7831R FPGA

    Hi all,
I am new to Labview FPGA Module. I am using Labview 7.1.1 and Labview FPGA Module 1.1 . I am using PXI 7831R FPGA Card.
I developed a program which is used to scan analog Inputs with given scan rate for given scan duration. I gave input as pulse signal with 1Sec period and 2 V amplitude.
If I scan one analog Input with 10ms scan rate for 1000ms scan duration I am getting correct values. But if I use 2 or more analong signals to scan at the same time then I am getting Multiple of periods. And also If I increase or decrease scan rate I am getting strange values. Could any body please check my code and help me.
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Can an image of Windows 2000 using NI-VXI 3.5 with a PXI-MXI controller be fielded for multiple computers using sysprep?

I am trying to field an image of Windows 2000 using NI-VXI 3.5 with a PXI-MXI controller.  Can I set the system up to retain to original settings for VXI?  Some of my computers use a PCI-MXI controller.  Although Windows always finds the MXI controller, the original VXI System 0 is not used.  I have several VME instruments set up and the target is about 85 different computers.  Also the NI-GPIB interface does not show in MAX.  Is this supposed to work?

    Hello,
Here's an update regarding the gpib error. There has been a Corrective Action Request (CAR) ID:3BI8A578, filed due to a similar issue of error gpibpnp.exe with NI-488.2 v2.2 on Windows 2000 and Sysprep. This issue's workaround involved going back to install NI-488.2 v2.1 or installing the v2.3 release in order to eliminate the problem. Currently, NI-488.2 v2.3 is no longer available for download, however, all operating systems and hardware supported by NI-488.2 v2.3 are also supported by NI-488.2 v2.4 (see link 1).

  • Does restoring from backup overwrite current library with backed-up one?

My external hard drive died a sudden and mysterious death, so I am cobbling my music collection back together from backup DVDs and my iPod.
Can someone please tell me if restoring from backup DVDs will overwrite my current library with the backed-up one? The DVDs are several months old, so I do not want to overwrite my current library - I need to be able to see what I'm still missing after I restore from the DVDs.
    Thanks

Well, I want to restore the backed-up songs, but I still want to be able to see the songs I am missing (that I have acquired since I backed up).
So I don't want to replace my current library (currently showing all exclamation points because everything is missing) with the one from December 2007 (when I last backed up), because then all the songs I have acquired since December 2007 will no longer be listed in my library. I just want to restore the individual songs to my current library, so that I can continue to track down the songs still showing exclamation points. I hope that makes sense.

  • How do I increase the precision of a timestamp acquired with a DAQ task?

    Hi
I am using a DAQ task to acquire multiple channels of analog data. The waveform data already has timing information incorporated into it. I wanted to know if there was a way of increasing the accuracy of this timestamp information - (Its currently in seconds with a default ms offset for each sample).
    Thanks
    Brinda

    Hello Brinda,
From your posting, it sounds like you are acquiring some waveform data and plotting it to a LabVIEW graph. Unfortunately, the ability to increase the timestamp of your acquired data is going to be a limitation of using a non-real time operating system such as Windows. You may have a device which can sample to some very small precision of accuracy, but if your OS is not able to transfer the data fast enough and timestamp it, then you will see a less precise timestamp than you were hoping. A workaround to get around this would be to use a real time environment and the LabVIEW Real Time module. If this does not seem to be an option, you may also want to consider trying to use a counter to perform the timestamping, or take a look at the LabVIEW exam

  • Compatibility of Pattern I/O with a PXI-6533 card with real time application

    Hi,
I use a PXI-6533 card on a chassis with a PXI-8145 RT controller. I want to acquire 32 bits of data with this card at 1,25 kHz. These data are generated by an external FPGA card together with a clock signal. Referring to the 6533 documentation, a simple way to synchronize the acquisition is to use pattern I/O, entering the clock signal on the REQ pin. I tried the LabVIEW example Cont Pattern Input.vi. It seems to go well, but it does not work when I change this .vi priority to Time-critical or any higher priority than normal. Is there an incompatibility between this type of acquisition and real-time ?

    Hi,
Sorry for this late answer, I effectively added a wait until next ms function in the time-critical loop and it seems to work. In fact, I dont see exactly how, but it works with 1ms up to 50 ms.
Nevertheless, the next step is to add the content of this example in a more complex system with a communication loop to transfer the acquired data to the Host PC. I already have such an architecture, with a time-critical priority .VI to read the data at 1.25 kHz and a RTFIFO to transfer them to a second normal priority .VI loaded on the PXI, that ensures a TCP communication with the HOST PC. This architecture works correctly on another application with an internal clock, BUT doesnt with this example, even with your solution.
    In
fact, it seems to work when I put the two .VIs loaded on the PXI in normal priority, but with a tremendous jitter (the frequency varies from 1 to 2 kHz) and a scan backlog that gets full very fast. Then, the PXI crashes as soon as I change any priority.
Youll find attached these three .VIs and I hope this could help to find a solution.
    Cordially
PS: Since we started this thread, Im in relation with NI Support France on that subject. Nevertheless, we havent found any solution yet and any new idea is welcome !

  • HTTP Server is not currently supported with Solaris 10

I am having a problem to start the HTTP Server on Solaris 10 (I am installing HTTP Server as part of HTMLDB installation on Solaris 10).
I had a problem to install it at first, however I've found on 'AskTom' that unsetting ORA_NLS33 helps and it did. Now I can't start the HTTP server and I've found on metalink that 'HTTP Server is not currently supported with Solaris 10, this is targeted for Q2CY05'.
    Has this been fixed yet?

I am currently sick with the flu and in my room I dont have a tv. I tried plugging my xbox one's hdmi into the hdmi port on my macbook pro late 2013 retina display. I even tried connecting the hdmi cable to a hdmi mini display mort converter and that didnt work. How can I use my Macbook as a monitor to play game on

I would guess that the HDMI port on your mac is for output only - no input, and that's what your'e attempting to do when you attach the mac to your xbox. I looked in Mactracker and it lists the HDMI port as video output for both the 13" Retina MacBook Pro and the 15" Retina MacBook Pro (your post didn't say which one you have), so looks like that is the issue..

  • How do I transfer my iPhone, currently synced to a PC to sync with my Mac, which my iPad currently syncs with?

My iPhone 4 currently synchs with iTunes on my Windows PC.  I also have an iPad, which synchs with iTunes on my Mac.  I'm about to retire my Windows PC and would therefore like to switch my iPhone to synch with iTunes on my Mac.
My Mac iTunes already has the full music and video libraries that are on my PC.  Also, I have transferred all the Apps purchased to my Mac iTunes.   I don't care much about my playlists, history, etc. on the iTunes on my PC.
The contacts on my iPhone were previously syching with Outlook on my PC.  They are also being synched with iCloud (Contacts is turned on within iCloud when accessed from Settings on my iPhone).
So, my question is:  can I just authorise my Mac for synching with my iPhone and then just go ahead and synch with iTunes on my Mac?  Will I lose anything on my phone by doing this?   Contacts?  SMS messages?   The photos in the Camera Roll album on my iPhone?   If not, then will Contacts, SMS messages, and the photos in the Camera Roll album automatically start getting backed up on my Mac iTunes?
Alternatively, if I back up the iTunes libraries from my PC to my Mac (I've seen several posts about this) and then transfer it to my Mac, wouldn't I be effectively overwriting all the iTunes content on my Mac?   I have some TV shows and Books on my Mac iTunes that don't exist on my Windows PC iTunes.  In this case, would I lose these?
I'm basically ooking for a way to consolidate all my content on the two machines to my Mac and then start using that to synch both my iPhone and iPad..... but don't want to lose my non-iTunes content (SMS messages, Contacts, the Camera Roll album)  on my iPhone.
Any suggestions are welcome.  Please help!!

Just create a new AppleID for your work.
As Allan suggested, items purchased on one iTunes account cannot be moved to the other account.
However, you can put items purchased on on account onto the other iPhone.

  • How can I sync *CURRENT* contacts with Facebook?

I searched the discussions and found numerous questions asking how to sync Facebook's contacts with Address Book but those results just put all of Facebook's contacts in your Address Book.  I would like to sync the my current addressbook with Facebook and import user pictures, email addresses, etc.
I'm an iPhone user all of 24 hours but this is done pretty seemlessly on Android phones.
Is there a way of selecting just current contacts to be synced with Facebook?
I'm using an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.3
    Thank you.

I have found that syncing my contacts then un-syncing them results in my current contacts retaining all the info and picture from Facebook.  I just don't have the Facebook updates, which I'm happier about anyway.
