Custom doLogin for custom WebCenter Portal

I have a situation where I need to change the landing page that the user sees based on the group/role membership. This seems a pretty common idea, but I can't seem to figure out a way to make this happen. This means that it needs to happen after login_sucess.
I can't see a way to use a bean to specify the to-view-id within the login_success navigation case, so I am assuming that I need to use a custom doLogin method. Is there any documentation out there that will help me with this other than what I have found here: http://www.orastudy.com/oradoc/selfstu/fusion/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#BABDEICH?
I would be perfectly happy just using the existing code base and then adding in a section to check the membership and then send back a custom outcome that I can then build new navigation cases from.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Brian

Well, if you are talking about a Landing page (or a home page) in a Space, than I would suggest to have multiple templates as in the case of multiple memberships.
Then, when loading the default home in Spaces, you can use an Expression language to select different template based on a role. Thats what we are doing in our scenario.
Hope it helps.
Regards.

  • Standalone Custom WebCenter Portal - showDetailItem disclosure persistence

    Hi,
    I created a custom webcenter portal application (not Spaces), which has a jspx page with panelTabbed component. This component has 4 showDetailItems.
    Now everytime i visit this page, the last disclosed showDetailItem is always shown in panelTabbed.
    What should i do, to always show the first showDetailItem on every visit to that jspx page?
    Regards

    You can do it through bean's (java) code in your code.Beans could be your backing bean and use the discloreListener for the required component.

  • Message Board taskflows - useless in custom WebCenter Portal application?

    Hi,
    I am developing custom Webcenter portal application. I have added Message Board - wall viewer taskflow (/oracle/webcenter/peopleconnections/wall/controller/taskflows/WallViewer.xml#WallViewer) to the page. In binding parameters, I can set parameters like userId (I have set it to #{securityContext.userName}). After that each user can post to the wall and see his previous entries. But how can I let my user see posts from other users?
    I have connected from my portal to WebCenter Spaces via Webservice API. Created group space named 'myspace' with API and added users as members. I also set my custom portal application to use the same database as Spaces application, to be sure that group spaces I create and entries from Message Board will be stored in the same database.
    But when I try to use binding paramter spaceName (I set it to #{'myspace'}) I get error message "Failed to find the space of the message board."
    So how can I display messages from group space in my custom portal via Message Board taskflow? In custom portal I only managed to achieve situation, where single user can only see his own posts, what makes this taskflow pretty useless

    I did further research, maybe this will give you a clue:
    I browsed into code of Message Board taskflow (peopleconnections-view.jar -> oracle.webcenter.peopleconnections.wall.controller.taskflows.WallViewer.xml). The first activity in this taskflow is method call - checkGroupSpaceName, which execures method bound as #{pageFlowScope.WCPeopleConnWallViewerBean.checkGroupSpaceName}
    I decompiled oracle.webcenter.peopleconnections.wall.internal.view.WallViewerBean class. In checkGroupSpaceName method there is a line
    scope = ServiceContext.getContext().findScope(spaceName)
    On the jspx page where Message Boards taskflow is added, I've put a line:
    <af:outputText value="#{serviceCtx.allScopes}" id="pt_ot2"/>
    which displays as output:
    [Scope[name=defaultScope, guid=s8bba98ff_4cbb_40b8_beee_296c916a23ed]]
    So clearly Webcenter does not "see" the scope of any space, especially it doesn't see "myspace" scope.
    Any ideas what do do?

    Hi,
    I am trying to install the Pre-built Virtual Machine for Oracle WebCenter Portal: Framework 11gR1 (11.1.1.4.0) onto a Laptop (500G HDD 8G Ram) running Windows 7 to learn.

    I have set the preferences in Virtual Box to the same directory where I have downloaded the files to but when I Import Applicance and select C:\users\Tony\Virtual Box VMs and select the defaults and import I get an error box stating:

    I've imported this appliance (and others) on Windows 7 32-bit on a Lenovo W500, on an iMac, and on a MacBook. The one error you should encounter during the "import appliance" step is a path error related to shared folder (the canned/hard-coded path in the ovf file points to a place that is not likely to exist on your computer, so just comment out the D:\TEMP\Host path, or make it for that matter).
    <!--SharedFolders-->
    <!--SharedFolder name="Host" hostPath="D:\TEMP\Host" writable="false" autoMount="true"/ -->
    <!-- /SharedFolders-->
    You can alter system set memory_target=300M scope=both and set your VM memory to 2.5GB and everything will run fine (using the vmctl script to start up what's needed). The "1" option is all that is needed for the tutorial shown in the documentation. If you run the admin server, you will see things run a good bit slower. Part of the tutorial assumes you know about UCM and how to take the UCM content in the sample files and upload those into the repository. You can delete the file already loaded and then do a single file upload to "re-load" the various directories/folders for the menu/home/etc. Upload the png and other files into the same folder (menu.html, menuBanner.png, etc. all go into the same Menu folder). It's not worth the time to set the bulk upload because you have to go out into UCM and dig around the admin settings, stop/restart, and so on. You can also use the contentadmin user (welcome1) to do the file upload.

    After creating the build.xml file as mentioned above for my WebCenter Portal application, When I try to run the login.jspx page, it is unseccessful . It throws me an error

    Created another sample WebCenter Portal application without selecting Ant in project technologies and then when I run the login.jspx of that application, it was success. The page opened properly.
    What can be the issue for this?

  • Problem with af:resource in Page Template of Custom WebCenter Portal

    According to the WebCenter Developers Guide in a bullet point just before section 11.2.4, I am supposed to be able to use a af:resource tag to include a custom css or js file within my page template. I am trying to do exactly that with a custom css and jquery js file that I have put into the shared folder of my custom portal implementation of JDeveloper. However, whenever I deploy my project and bring up a page using this page template, Firebug shows that it cannot find the file specified.
    I try going directly to the files and get a 404.
    I then check the security policy of the files and they are showing as having the default security policy, so I am not completely sure why this is not working.
    The user that I am logging in as is part of a custom role, but I didn't think that that would have anything to do with files that are stored in the shared folder.
    I did also make sure to Create Portal resources out of each file, but that didn't help either.
    Any thoughts?

    I created fair amount of portal with custom javascript and css and I didn't seem to find any of that...
    What WebCenter Portal version do you use?

  • Best Approach for Security in WebCenter Portal Application

    Hi,
    We are analyzing a right approach for webcenter portal security on an application . We found that we can do all Roles and Security in Page Hierarchy which in turn stores the security details in Jazn-data.xml . Is this the right approach for defining the roles and security for a webcenter portal application .
    What is the importance of Configuring WS_security in webcenter Portal Application and do we need to define this WS_Security even after defining them in page hierarchy. Could you please guide us on this .
    Thank you,
    Sashank P

    Hi Shashank,
    First sorry for late reply,
    WS_Security, can you please explain what do you mean by WS_Security, from the term i could not infer which part you are talking about.
    Let me tell you about the Webcenter security -
    This is the heirarchy , the Fusion middelware forms the base with webcenter at the top.\
    Webcenter Security
    |
    ADF Security
    |
    Fustion Midddleware Security (OPSS)
    Now you are goin to apply security to your Webcenter and ADF layers.
    Lets come back to the question .
    Any webcenter portal, you have to use the Jazn-Data.xml file to secure all the content whether its the navigation /pages /admin pages/taskflows etc.
    Its pretty much easy to use , let me know if you have any difficulty on that.
    Page hierarchy -> Yes you have an option to set your security for pages alone, here you have addition fine grain permisions (update/delete/personalise etc).
    If you need those fine grain permissions you can use this.
    To Conclude i would say use jazn-data for taskflows/components/admin page protection etc.
    Use Page heirarchy's fine grain permission to pages and navigation model's visible attribute to show/hide navigation based on user's roles.
    Let me know if this helps

  • Webcenter portal app globalization - howto

    Hi,
    I'm looking for a good guide/tutorial on Custom Webcenter portal app globalization. Webcenter dev guide also doesn't seem to be comprehensive about that.
    I found very straightforward video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ha6FzOkVc24 however it refers to some additional files with code snippets I cannot download anywhere.

    Hi,
    Okay, I know I should use resource bundles for everything. I tried to follow video tutorial mentioned earlier (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ha6FzOkVc24):
    - added xlff PortalBundle
    - translated some af:outputText labels on page template
    Now when I try to run my portal in JDeveloper I got following exception:

    I tried to duplicate PortalBundle.xlf as PortalBundle_en.xlf, but it doesn't help. What am I doing wrong? Please note that comparing to mentioned tutorial, I don't have phase listener nor ApplicationBean registered.
    But what next - how can I implement language selection control and pass information about selected language to taskflows defined in my ADF library?
    Concerning 2) - I'm not sure what do you mean - why can't I follow instructions from the video on localizing navigation (starting from 7:04) - seem to be pretty straightforward.

  • Calling Oracle Ebusiness Forms from a Webcenter Portal application

    Hello All,
    Would there be any known/standard procedure of calling Oracle EBusiness Forms from a Custom WebCenter Portal Application. The issue we are facing currently is that we are successfully able to call an Oracle EBS Forms as a GO Link from the application. The problem is when there are multiple links to open different EBS Forms. Multiple instances of the Forms sessions are created. We would like to have only one. We are trying to mimic the Oracle EBusiness Home Page / Landing Page.
    Any pointers are much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Nachi

    Hi.
    Are you using Portal or Framework Portal?.
    In case of <noscript> is generated by JAVA internal classes and the unique way to change the message is with a Non supported workaround overriding a CoreBundle class.
    About the af:skipLinkTarget usually is in the Page Template. The default templates has it in next snippet:
    <f:facet name="center">
        <af:skipLinkTarget>
        <af:facetref facetname="content">
        </af:facetref>
      </af:skipLinkTarget>
    </f:facet>
    If you're using default Templates then copy them and remove the af:skipLinkTarget tag from the copied one and assign it to the Portal.
    I hope it helps.
    Regards.

    To clarify: SSXA is not supported by WebCenter Portal.
    Our recommended route is to leverage ADF based templates/Content Presenter for integrating WebCenter Portal,
    WebCenter Content and Site Studio.

    Hi Ashish,
    Just for curiosity, there's some technical explanation for this?
    I know that there's some conflicts in JavaScript functions from SSXA and Composer, there's some more problems already mapped?

  • How to migrate application to webcenter portal application

    Hi, I am interested in turning a fusion web application to a webcenter portal app to utilize features such as navigation models, resource manager, and catalogs, etc.
    section 8.2.1 of webcenter development guide indicates that "migrating a non-portal webcenter application to a webcenter portal application is not supported" - but perhaps possible with tedious manual steps.
    Has anyone ever tried such feat? if not, what could be the steps/considerations involved, any suggestions? (and what about doing this the other way around? - i.e., create new app from webcenter portal template and then import projects from non-portal one)
    Thanks and regards,
    Joe

    you are right. we actually experimented with deploying one project in the fusion app as shared ADF lib to be consumed in a new portal app, which works out well. but then the challenge is that the fusion app already has 50+ projects - it'd be more conforming if there's a way to reliably bring in all webcenter features to a new project under the same fusion app.
    I am thinking for whatever "webcenter portal application template" prescribes jdeveloper to do when a new application based on such template is created, if we can manually perform the exact steps from the jdeveloper gui, we should end up with the same portal project, unless some items are not exposed in ui but are programmatic outputs?. (I guess some part of this consideration is jdeveloper specific)
    Learning how the webcenter portal template (or others in general) was created in the first place might be helpful as well.

  • How to create custom template for webcenter portal application

    Hi,
    I created webcenter portal application in my jdev using the webcenter portal application template provided by the webcenter framework.
    I tried to create custom template for my application by following steps:
    1. Created new application using webcenter portal application template with all default package structure.
    2. Right click pagetemplates folder under webcontent package and select new option.
    3. New gallery opens up.
    4. Selected JSF under webtier and JSF Page Template under items in the right hand side and clicked Ok button.
    5. New wizard opens up for creating new JSF page template.
    6. Gave template name(file name) and Page Template Name(template def name).
    7. Selected checkbox staing start a Quick Start Layout and selected three column layout and selected Ok.
    8. Selected checkbox for Create Associated ADFm Page Defination(so that page templates can be changes at run time).
    9. Created some Facet Definations (header, footer, content1, content2, LHN, RHN).
    10. Clicked Ok button which will create custom template.
    11. Added some Panel Group Layout component from Component Palette.
    12. Created new page (.jspx) with this template.
    Now when I try to add producer portlets created using Producer Portlet application template and connected to the above application using WSRP2.0, I'm facing problem.
    The prolem is that I'm not able to add more than one portlet in one single page?
    Kindly let me know whether the steps followed by me is wrong some where and needs to corrected and let me know how I can add more than one portlet to page?
    Basically I cant see more than one placeholders in my page to add portlets.

    Thanks Yannick.
    In the step 9 I had mentioned that I created various facet definations (header, footer, content, content1 RHN and LHN).
    Is this is not facet you are talking about or should I drop facet ref from the resource palette?
    Can't I add moer than one portlet to my page at design time itself?
    Annoying since in weblogic portal we do this at design time(.portal).

  • Customizing Webcenter components

    Hi,
    We are building an application to manipulate content server objects and are thinking of two option: one is to use RIDC and build our own presentation tier. another is to use existing components such as Document Manager and customize them to suite our needs.
    So far we have not been able to find enough documentation on how to customize these out of the box components. To give an example, When a document is uploaded, we requiire to populate metadata such as author name, security group the document belongs to and so on. Another example is when a document is created we want to attach a workflow to that document.
    Are there any recommendations? If customizing existing taskflows is a better option, can you provide us links to the resources?
    We have tried Oracle documentation and some of the blogs, and everytime we run in some exception or the other. I will refrain from posting those exceptions here as our developers have raised those questions in other threads.
    Thanks and Regards

    This post contains many disputable points:

Having mentioned Document Manager of WebCenter Portal, you might want to create a WebCenter Framework-based app. I'm not sure if you can customize WebCenter task flows in such a way - nevertheless, this is definitely a question to WebCenter Portal forum.

Another example is when a document is created we want to attach a workflow to that document. I don't think you will be able to check-in an item without providing mandatory metadata (such as security group), and even changing them later is not exactly what you should do (even though it is possible). As for workflows, UCM can handle that for you without customizing the front-end. Maybe, you should get someone who has UCM experience and who would help you to construct the overall architecture.
