Custom Infotypes: Deleted in Development system

Hi Gurus,
I have commited a fatal mistake by deleting the existing infotype by clicking the Generate Objects button in Development System. And the Existing custom infotypes are also moved to the production system. We had tried Re-importing the overwritten objects. We got the PS Structure for that infotype. But the module pool programs are not transported back to the development system. Please provide me the solution to get the objects back to the development system. It is also not allowing to create the Module pool programs manually....Please help me out.

The only way I see is either restore from a backup of your dev system.
Or trace all the transports related to your custom infotypes and re apply them manually by downloading them from production or QA and importing it into dev enviornment.
Ask your basis team they would know how to do this.
By they way take it easy, it happens but nothing is to disastorus unless applied into production.
Make sure that your transports related to regenerated objects are not released to any systems,
Thanks.

  • OM Custom Infotype Deletion Request

    Hi,
When I tried deleting an OM Custom Infotype using Tcode PPCI, the custom infotype got deleted but did not prompt me for any request. I could not find any transport request relating this.
The Package and Dev class is available for all the objects just wondering why it did not ask for the transport request.
If anyone has an idea, kindly let me know.
    Thanks,

    Hi
Not sure if it works, but you can try this approach.
If you delete the OM infotype in PPCI,  infotype entry will gets deleted in T777I.
Capture T777I the entries in this in request and import it into the target system and
delete the HRI* structure as well.

  • Problem in getting the new custom infotype in test client

    Hi All,
I have created a new custom infotype. I can execute the infotype from the development system thru PA30.
But when I tried to check in the test client (same system), it shows me that the infotype does not exist.
Do I need to transport it to other client? If so please let me know how...

You will need to import the Customizing TR(generated for Infotype) into other client. Use tcode SCC1 for importing TR without releasing it in the same system.

  • Custom infotype - field length issue

    Hi experts,
We have a requirement of keeping so much free text fields in the custom infotype. However, the system doesnu2019t allow having these many fields in the PS structure. We got the information from the error description as- The maximum length of PS structures for infotypes is 1000; this is the length of the general infotype header in bytes. Could you please suggest some way to solve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Rahul

Give a field and try to enter some decription for large text in  that field .
Create a table for that field and give F4 for that .
Maintain the text in SO10 and call that text using read_text fn module .

  • Full production refresh to development systems and Charm?

    Hi SDN Community,
Where I work we have a policy of refreshing the development systems (ECC, CRM, APO, BI, SRM) on an annual basis with full production system data, HR data is subsequently wiped clean from the development system.
For each of our systems we have a development system, a QA system and a production system.
The decision to do these full refreshes was taken to ensure that developers and configurers can do decent testing in the Dev environments - prior to transporting to our QA system - to ensure that we have a reasonably stable QA system. Prior to the refreshes - QA was considered too unstable by our business to be used as a good test platform - the full D refreshes solved this problem.
We have recently installed SAP Charm (Change request management) which is a solution manager based product that manages the transportation of objects in change requests - attached to maintenance cycles.
During our first development system refresh we discovered that all open Charm projects (maintenance cycles) were placed into an unuseable status due to the refresh. This means we had to rebuild all of the Charm projects after the refresh - which took a considerable amount of time + resources and delayed project work. We don't want to be in this situation again for our next refresh.
SAPs response to us has been that they have no other customer that does full Development system refreshes - and also has Charm. I wonder if this is accurate, I think what SAP are saying is that they don't have many Charm customers... Is refreshing Development so uncommon?
We are considering products like SAPs TDMS - and alternatives (eg gold client) - but most of these appear a little immature - for refreshing complex system landscapes - such as ours and keeping everything in synch after the refresh.
    My questions to SDN -
What do you do - do you do full refreshes to your D systems?
If not - what are the arguments against refreshing D systems (is this considered bad practice)?
Are there any other Charm customers out there in a similar situation to us?
How do you manage the stability of your QA environments and stop the transport into QA systems of untested changes - if your D systems are not similar to you production system
(note we have some 300 active users in just our ECC development system)?
Any suggestions / recommendations as to how to best proceed would be greatly appreciated.
    many thanks in advance,

    Thanks Naushad for your reply,
I wonder if D refreshes are less common - more due to the additional hardware costs incurred (disk space needed to store full production data is usually pretty large) to do them - than due to avoiding disrupting development - probably a bit of both.
I did not mention this - but in our refresh we do reimport all transports that we open prior to the refresh - which used to solve our problems - in terms of restoring active changes - but with SAPs Charm system - this approach does not work as the Charm projects are left in an inconsistent status.
We are now leaning towards introducing a 4th set of systems into our landscape - so that we have the following platforms:
Development --->  Pre QA  ---> QA  ---> Production
This approach will allow us to keep both the Pre QA and QA systems refreshed every 6 months or so - and our new Dev system - we will refresh very infrequently (every 5 years perhaps) if at all. We will tie the Charm system to our new development - and this system will then not be impacted by refreshes. This approach means additional hardware cost - but as it happens we have a few spare boxes - so this maybe our best bet.
The core reason for our refresh is so that we will be able to preserve the stability of our QA test platform - which for us is the critical factor here. If QA has poorly tested work in it - we run a higher risk of disrupting other testing and also of this poorly tested work reaching production.
When we used to have a development system as you described and just the single QA box - we experienced frequent instability in our QA box - due to poorly tested working reaching it - and this delayed numerous projects.
Does anyone else have a 4 box setup like this? Anyone else encountered this on an SAP project anywhere? Pros / Cons of this approach?

  • ABAP program missing in development system

    Hi,
An ABAP Program is missing in development system. But is available in Quality and production system.
Not sure if it is deleted from development system. Can anyone please tell me what are the ways to find the missing/deleted program. How to find if it is missing or deleted?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
If it is developed and deleted then you can create the report with the same name which you looking for.
Then from the Version Management you get the latest version which was transported from the Development.
Even after deleting the report from the development the versions are still exits in the system. If you have create the report with same name then you find the version in the version management then it is deleted in the development.

  • Sap hr - deleting custom infotype

    Hi,
Is it possible to delete custom infotype ?
If I delete a custom infotype, will I be able to use the same code to create a different custom infotype.
    Rgds,
    Santosh

    Hi Remi,
    Thanks for your reply.
Sorry, I have taken long time to reply.
I will provide the details :
I have created custom infotype having two fields.   The data is selected from the master tables.  We have created few records for the period 01.04.2012 to 31.03.2013.  Now, the functional team wants to add new data to the Master Tables and remove some of the existing fields from the Master.  I can add new fields to the master and it will get added as f4 field help.  However, if I remove the data from the Masters,  there will not be entries in master for the said records.
I am referring to PRD System.
Hope I have clarified the things.
    Rgds,

  • Deleting Texts from a Custom Infotype

I have created a custom infotype. On the infotype screen, there is a button that allows the user to enter some custom text. The screen works well in create, change and display mode; however, when I delete the infotype, the data in the PA9XXX is deleted correctly, but the text data is not.
The text data is created, changed and displayed using FMs READ_TEXT, EDIT_TEXT, SAVE_TEXT, COMMIT_TEXT, CREATE_TEXT, etc.
Deletion of data is handled differently in HR. When the u2018deleteu2019 button is pressed, PA30 handles the delete without going through my program, so I am unable to intercept the OK code and do the additional deletes myself. Currently I handle the deletes in a separate program, but this is not a particularly good solution.
So I want to be able to use FM DELETE_TEXT in my custom infotype.
Has anyone else tried to do this? If necessary, I will change the SAP code.

  • Using full development system on customized test setup that normally uses run-time - How to do?

I have 8.2 Full Development System (2 copies as there are two of us  who write code).
I develop testing systems, each on an individual computer, each customized with a custom built (by me) interface to test and measure perfomance of motors produced on the production line.
In order to modify the program and test it, I have to replace the production set-up computer with my developmental computer, make the changes (and check that they work) and then make the run-time version for the production computer.  THEN switch computers.  Since I have nearly a dozen different setups, I cannot just make two production test sets of each (one for development and one for production).
    Is there an easier way?
Perhaps with HDD in a drawer?  But then I'd have driver and version issues.
Is it possible to run the full development system remotely (from the production setup)?
    What about a site-license?
    Thanks,
    Tim K

    From the 8.2 Release Notes:
    Single-Seat and Multi-Seat Licensing
LabVIEW supports both single-seat and multi-seat licenses. Single-seat
licensing is the use of LabVIEW on up to three computers but by only one
user. Multi-seat, or volume, licensing is the use of LabVIEW on several
computers or by several users. Each seat using LabVIEW must have a valid
license from a license server. Refer to the National Instruments Web site at
    ni.com/license for more information.
You are permitted to install LabVIEW on the the pc with the hardware, do the changes and debug, and re-build the app for production.

  • Adding few new fields to Custom infotype already developed

    Hi
I have a requirement to add new fields to already available custom infotype.  I have to edit the PS structure and add few fields there and activate it. My question is, when I tick on "Generate Objects" after maintaining the PS structure, it will show pop up boxes asking whether to overwrite those objects already exists, shall I tick it or exit? Because the code is already written in the module pool for some validations,if I regenerate the objects, will the complete code will be erased?
Please guide me in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Pallavi.

    Hi,
Yes you need to regenerate objects, for changes to reflect.
Since the objects are regenrated, the custom validation codes should get overwritten.
To be on safe side, you can copy this infotype to a dummy infotype and regenerate the code and check.

I understnad we can do it using T.Code PPCI.
However i am not able to do so as system is giving message to check for the Info type number.
Please guide how to go about it.
Note:- Development to be done without the help of ABAP consultant.
    Regards,

    Hello Garima,
Transaction PPCI is for the creation of Personnel Development or Organizational Management Infotype
Transactino PM01 is for the creation/maintenant of Personnel Administration infotype.
I think you would be better to use PM01 ..
