Custom pagination

Hello,
I have a manual tabular form (checkboxes and radiogroups included). I need to customize a default pagination look, hide previous link and submit each page to save results when user clicks next link. Is there a way to reuse internal pagination for my needs? APEX has a pagination scheme 'Use Externally Created Pagination Buttons'. Has anyone an example of how to use this option?

Well, you understand wrong :)
My answer said “This option actually telling the Apex engine ‘don’t embed any pagination related elements in my page’”. It doesn’t tell it to ignore pagination all together, as it happens if you choose “No Pagination Selected”.
Sometimes semantics are important. If you choose “Use Externally Created Pagination Buttons”, the APEX engine assumes you have a pagination scheme, but you will use your own buttons to control it. The APEX engine itself continue to populate its internal pagination related elements, like the substitution strings #ROWS_FETCHED# , #TOTAL_ROWS# etc., and some other internal variables. Those will not be used (will remain NULL) if you choose “No Pagination Selected”.
From the end user point of view, if you are not implementing your own external pagination, the final (visual) result of both options is the same. However, if you do have your own external pagination scheme, the APEX engine will support it.

I didn’t see this post, however I have to admit that so far I didn’t find any reason to design my own pagination scheme. Taking the flexibility of the report templates, which allow you, with the pagination sub-templates, to design your own pagination link, and on the other hand, the complexity of running your own pagination in the SQL level, you should have really special pagination demands to warrant the efforts.

Custom pagination for APEX 4.2 interactive report using Page Zero

Hi,
I want to implement an «Custom pagination for APEX 4.2 interactive report» using a «page zero».
I recently migrate from Apex 3.1 to Apex 4.2 and my «Custom pagination for APEX 3.1 interactive report» using a «page zero» is not working any more.
So now I try to adapt an excellent example of Jari Laine for 4.0 but using a page zero.
I put the code JavaScript to Page zero but I must create an dynamic action to fire only for an interactive report region.
It’s a good idea?

Thought I would try once more with my DatePicker question.
On the Apex.Oracle.Com website I have created a 1 page application that has an Interactive Report.

I have 2 questions :
(1) In IE7, press 'Actions', 'Filter'. On the Column dropdown list, select 'Order Timestamp'.
Notice the prompt icon to the right of the 'expression'. This should change to the Datepicker, but in IE7 it does not. Try the samething in Firefox or Chrome and the Datepicker will appear.
Is this a BUG, or does Apex 4.02 not support IE7 ?
(2) In Firefox or Chrome, where you can now see the Datepicker, you will notice that it is the new style picker, not the old style ( called 'classic' ). I want to change it so that it shows the 'classic' datepicker not the new, but cannot see how to do it, if indeed you actually can.
I would really appreciate it if someone could take a look and let me know if I am going mad, or if we need to get all our users onto IE8. We have now gone live with Apex 4.02 and need to resolve these issues.

Custom pagination above and below report

All,
I creating a report with custom pagination like in the below link- Jari's sample. I got the below pagination to work but when i try to replicate another above the report(so that ive both above and below pagination) it does work and isnt in synch with the below one. Can somebody help with this ...thank you in advance

I'm a novice at javascript for APEX. Maybe someone else can readily see the problem.
I tried to duplicate what you have but I got neither the top nor bottom to completely work.
I note that the go-to-beginning and go-to-end arrows work for both. The bottom's dropdown selector is just not populated.
Questions (to try to pin point the problem).
1. If you reverese the Pagination / Pagination1, #htmldbIR_x1 / #htmldbIR_x11 names then does the bottom on work?
2. If you remove the top pagination then does the bottom pagination work?

SSRS custom pagination exception

Hello,
I am getting below errors on custom pagination for SSRS reports. I am rendering SSRS reports locally not deployed on server.
In custom pagination I have text box and next and prev link on report. when I enter page number the data loads properly in report but when i click on next link(image) I get below errors. The report works fine on google chrome, IE 9/10 but it fails in IE
11.

Do I need Custom Pagination?

Hi,
I want to make a report of a schedule showing 1 week per page.
The table I have looks something like this:
Monday 1 March 2012 12:00 PM Event1
Monday 1 March 2012 13:00 PM Event2
Monday 1 March 2012 14:00 PM Event3
Tuesday 2 March 2012 12:00 PM Event4
Wednesday 3 March 2012 08:00 AM Event5
(etc.)
Some days of the week may be missing and some weeks there may not be any data at all, in which a text like "No Events this week" should appear.
Do I need custom pagination to establish this or are there easier methods?

In my opinion you should try to avoid customizing the Process Model. It makes it easier to maintain. It's even worse when you "need" to change modelsupport2.dll. UGH!!
The current sequential model has a whole bunch of callbacks which make it really easy to get desired behavior from your client sequence file.
Here's what I use for my rule of thumb for customizing the Process Model:
- Will this modification be useful to multiple projects?
- Does this modification make it easier all around in the long run. (i.e. less support, less maintenance, less work when creating new tests, etc..)
- Is my modification strong linked to 1 client sequence file? A process model should be something that can handle pretty much any sequence file. If you customize it such that it's linked to a single sequence file then you are probably doing something wrong.
- Does this modification make sense? In all reality what am I truly gaining by this modification?
A couple instances when I've changed the process model:
- Configuration Entry Sequences to change settings for a test. This just had a simple callback in it that I always overrode with my client sequence. It just put a menu item in the user interface so users could get to it.
- A callback/Configuration Entry which allowed users to link to a document describing what the test did. Again overridden by my test. Just used for the menu item.
- Disabling/Deleting an entry point. Test UUTs and Single Pass are the default for the sequential model. I only wanted users to select one.
Sounds like a crazy project. I hope it goes well for you.

Custom pagination of rich:datascroller

Hi,
I am currently using the default implementation that is used by the <rich:datascroller to perform pagination on the <rich:scrollableDataTable using the following code:-

However,
we need to handle large amount of data in the scrollableDataTable, thus requiring customisable pagination.

I was having a delightful time using a common region defined on a global page when I determined that pagination setting was begin carried from one page to the next. Arghhhh! So for example, if I have paged to the second set (page) of rows (11-20) on Page 1 and then I go to Page 2, the second set (page) of rows (11-20) is displayed there. If I go to a page which only has a first set of rows (1-10), I get the pagination error "Invalid set of rows requested, the source data of the report has been modified. Reset Pagination". And when I click to reset, it just repeats the error. [I suppose it tries to display the second set or rows (11-20) again -- which doesn't exist. What's that saying about insanity?]

The fact that there are different numbers of rows returned on different pages implies that the reports have some local page dependencies, so why try to use a global component? What's the actual requirement? How many pages does the report have to appear on? (Please say it is a report and not a tabular form...)

The point is that a global region is just that: a single region that happens to be displayed on multiple pages. It does not create multiple instances of a region on different pages. (Specifically, a region has a single region ID, and this is used to reference it whether it appears on one page or all of them. The region ID is used by the report for the purposes of AJAX refresh, pagination etc.)
A similar situation was discussed a long time ago. I'm rather surprised that Scott regarded it as a bug: the fact that it doesn't seem to have been "fixed" or have a bug number attached may indicate that the others on the APEX team disagreed with him? I haven't tried the workaround he suggested, however I don't think it's likely to be prove a useful line of attack for your issue, as (1) it resets pagination rather than preserving it; and (2) it doesn't appear to be compatible with the AJAX PPR pagination used in more recent versions of APEX.
I can't see any straightforward "solution" (largely because I don't think there's really a problem: the exhibited behaviour is exactly how I expect/want global regions to behave). Pagination processing is undocumented. The current 4.2 apex.widget.report.paginate JS method is specifically annotated as "for internal use only". Search the forum for custom pagination techniques. Messy looking hacks for IRs have previously been suggested.
So if I'm looking at rows (11-20) on page 1, I can go to any other page beginning with rows 1-10 there. Then return to page 1 where I left off with rows 11-20 displayed. One solution is NOT to paginate but that's not my preferred solution.
Assuming that there aren't too many pages involved, the other obvious option is to create unique regions on the required pages. You can achieve some level of reusability by creating SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query) reports based on an external function so that there's only a single SQL source to be maintained.
Explain the requirement in more detail. Pagination is not the only option for reducing the quantity of displayed information. Often it's better to display some of all of the data, rather than all of some of it...

Best Approach for Pagination in 11.1.1.6 or 11.1.1.7 for Portals

We have a requirement for using pagination in webcenter portal . We already installed Jdev 11.1.1.6 , So is their any approach or a solution for Pagination in 11.1.1.6 . If not could you please suggest any other approach for upgrading to 11.1.1.7 .
If we upgrade to Jdev 11.1.1.7 , Is it compatable with Webcenter Portals . Could you please suggest the best appraoch for this.

I do believe pagination is coming back in .7 but am not 100% sure.

ADF Table Pagination in JDev 11.1.1.4

I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.
I need to implement the Table Pagination functionality. The below are the options that I tried, but they are not able o fulfill my requirement perfectly.
1. Using <af: Iterator> component - when I use this the appearance is not like table data. and moreover in my table each row will have check boxes and input text area. Not sure whether these can be used in iterator component.
2. Using <af: Table>, giving th evalue as #{bindings.EmployeesVO1.rangeSet} instead of #{bindings.EmployeesVO1.collectionModel} - When I use this getting the error javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: Target Unreachable, 'bindings' returned null.
I read that Pagination functionality is in built with JDev 11.1.1.7. But I cant use that, Should use 11.1.14 only.
Could you please suggest the way or sample code to achieve this ?

Customising ADF table

Hi everyone,
is it possible to move/replace the first few columns of an ADF read-only table with the next few columns on clicking a icon/link/command button. And the icon/link/command button be placed in the column header of ADF table. i am looking to achieve carousel kind of feature for ADF table where first 10 columns get replaced with the next 10 columns.
i want to achieve the columns of adf table to move to and fro on click of icon/link that is placed in the 2nd and last column of ADF table Header.

Pagination won't help you as it is used to load more rows and not columns.
What is your jdev version?
What comes to mind is to use a panel collection where you put your table into.The panel collection allows you to show and hide columns of a table. Using you two buttons you hide the currently shown columns and show the next columns.

how to do this? In the DOM inspector i'm getting the options, but when see the source HTML there are no <html:options>.. when click on the 2 page link the terms which are in <html:option> are not going to the "Action" class .. :(

RetrieveLimitedRecordsCommand retrieving only 1000 records

Hi All,
While I am trying to retrieve records from the main table using RetrieveLimitedRecordsCommand I am getting only 1000 records from MDM, where as there are around 100000 records in the table.
Could anyone help in this regard.

The default page size is set to 1000, so if you have more than 1000 records, customize your code to increase the page size in loop.
Here is how we did:
Get the count total records = n //use the method getSearchTableMatchCount() on RetrieveLimitedRecordsExCommand
int n = retrieveLimitedRecordsExCommand.getSearchTableMatchCount( ) ;
Number of pages or Page size p
int p = N / 1000 ;
for( int i=1; i<=p ; i++ )
//Now loop through the retrieve command from 1 to p and inside the loop take the records in an array.
Now either you can implement it this way to get all the records in one shot. Or you can implement custom pagination on your table/result set view to retrieve the next 1000 records as required.
And if you implement your custom pagination, you can also set the page size as per your design.

Just need to provide a caveat with extending the 8.1 NetUI JSP tags...
Unfortunately, the Workshop 8.1 JSP tags did not provide a supported extensibility API. If the 8.1 JSP tags are extended, BEA / Workshop do not make any guarantees about the forward compatibility of these APIs in future releases. A NetUI JSP tag API will be available in the 9.2 GA release of Apache Beehive, which will be included in Workshop 9.2.
