Customer master Mapping

Hi All,
I got a requirement to create a new mapping for Customer master data, few mappings are already existing in the system but as per my senior they are not sufficient to upload the full data into Data manager ...so I need to create a new Map.
Could you please guide me on the following
1.  What should be the approach in creating the Map for customer master
2. How to handle Check table and Value Table
3. Is there any way to use the old Mappings ( I mean can we copy / over write the mappings )
4. Roughly how many days it will take for completing this activity  ... I dont know any thing about the mapping, so need to go through the documentation, so request you to provide any links / docs
5. If any one has already handled customer master for MDM then cud u please send the mapping strategy / steps to me please.

The extent of the mapping depends heavily on your data model.  It sounds as though you would like to build an Import Map to populate data in the repository as opposed to building a syndication map.  Building the Import Maps is typically a pretty quick and easy process, and shouldn't take more than a day, even with a complex data model.  First I would find out how many fields are in your data model, and what the source is.  For example, if the source of the data is ECC, then it's pretty easy to get good documentation on the function of each field.  You can go to transaction WE60 (Idoc documentation) and search on an IDoc type (ie: DEBMAS or DEBMDM) to find the field descriptions.  If the client (or corresponding functional analyst) has already given you a functional mapping spreadsheet, then that will save you a lot of time, all you have to do is go build the map. 
When handling values in a lookup table, first you want to populate the lookup tables.  So if the extract is coming from ECC, you can use the generic extractor (transaction code: MDMGX) to extract check table data.  Then load this data into MDM using the Import Manager.  Once the lookup table data is loaded, then you can go load the main data.  When building the map, you can use automapping for the lookup values.  In the configuration options of the map, make sure to select automapping to True for the import server.  If there are values in your data that are not in the lookup table, you can choose to set the value to NULL, map it to another value, or pass the new value into the lookup table.  Typically lookup tables are used for maintaining data integrity, so it's not a good practice to map new values into it.  If you have new values, you should study them and find out why they weren't populated in your lookup tables from the extract of the source.
If you are experienced with building import maps it will only take 2-3 hours to build an import map (at the MOST).  If you don't have much experience, it may take a whole day because you will be learning as you go.

    When I am doing remodeling to Add 0CUST_SALES in Customer Dimenssion and  using 1:1 maping with characteristics of 0SOLD_TO option . system is giving following error. 
    Characteristic 0SOLD_TO does not have all compoundings of 0CUST_SALES
    Since 0CUST_SALES is compounded with Sales Area  remodeling doesn't work in spite of having all characteristics of Sales area in the infocube.
    Is there any other way to replace the data.

  • Demo - Extraction of Customer Master Data from SAP R/3 ECC6 to MDM5.5

    I am new to MDM . Would appreciate if someone can give a solution to the below request.
    We are doing a demo project in our Company to extract all the master data related to SALES cycle. We are doing an extraction of Customer Master Data. Currently we have the unlicensed version of MDM and very soon we will get the licensed version.
    We have the Customer Master Repository created in MDM Console. The IDOC type we are using is DEBMDM05.
    Is there a easy way to map the fields of IDOC to the MDM Repository. Right now we are doing a manual process of comparing the IDOC fields and MDM Repo in an excel but this is tedious and time consuming.
    Can anyone suggest an easier way to identify so that we know which fields match correctly.

    Hi Leena,
    First of all you have 2 options to generate IDOCs from SAP R/3 system
    1.mdmgx>one IDoc per record
    2.mdm_clnt_extr>for generating single IDoc having entire set of records.
    Secondly,if you want to get the data mapped automatically,you should use standard maps provided by SAP(Business Content).
    If at all you have created new fields then you should manually map those fields.

    This is the special function in LSMW, for empty field system will put / sign automatically, so you need not to worry about that.
    <b>FB007 Session 1 session name ZPROJ was opened</b> It is opening session ZPROJ which is your project name/object name.
    <b>FB109 Trans. 1 : Transaction xd01 is not supported</b>
    Check out your field mapping and conversion rule for object.
    <b>FB013 ....Editing was terminated</b>
    It is not finding proper field mapping rule / file inputs so the sytem terminates the LSMW object.
    Check your field mapping and conversion rule, check your source fields, save the file in tab delimited format.

  • Partner functions for SAP Customer Master

    I am in the MDM solution definition phase for SAP Customer Master at one of our Cients place. The requirement is to set up a central master data scenario where creation & modification of any customer record will be done via MDM. The following components of Netweaver are in the landscape - SAP MDM, EP, XI.
    I need clarification on the following points -
    -  Is it possible to set up the partner function in MDM, if so, how?
    -  Need to replicate the standard SAP functionality where the system can be configured to create Ship To, Payer, Bill To automatically when a Sold To record is created. Is this possible? Are there any work arounds?

    Partner Function comes under Condition Technique in SAP ECC.here some config has to be done.
    For mapping it in MDM, First create a Qualified Table - Partner Function.Determine the Non-Qualifiers and Qualifiers.Then as said by Suresh, u need Java API stuff to complete this task and frontend being EP.
    - Need to replicate the standard SAP functionality where the system can be configured to create Ship To, Payer, Bill To automatically when a Sold To record is created. Is this possible? Are there any work arounds?
    It can be done using EP as front end and Java API to dertermine the partner based on the account group.

  • Customer master creation and maintenance

    Hi All,
    I have a question regarding customer master. The client is implementing FSCM credit and collections management. Initially, all the existing customers in AR are mapped or loaded to SAP Business partner using the functions available (I dont remenber on top of my head but i know we can do that).
    Now my questions are,
    1. When creating a new customer later some point, do we have to create in AR and then establish the relationship to SAP Business partner. Or directly create as SAP Business partner.
    2. If to be cretaed both in AR and as Business partner, this would be kind of duplication or maintaing in 2 seperate places. Please explain the reason behind it.
    3. If only to be created as Business partner, will all the fields available in Customer master (like business area, accounting clerk, Industry field) be available in Business partner
    one more question, We can automatically import credit data from External Credit Information service. Can we push the data from our system to the Provider like the payment data or anything for that matter. Client has a requirement for this to send data to provider and I am not sure. Please confirm.
    I know there are too many question, but please help me undertsand this more better.

    I am sorry about that but first 3 questions are related and linked.
    I understand that a link is established between AR customer data and BP's and this will migrate all data. But the data will be in AR and will be copied to BP..right.
    Likewise, if you create a customer in AR, it will create a BP...will this be done automatically?
    And later if we want to create a new customer, do we need to do in AR and this will automaticall create a BP? Is this not duplication. I know that BP are maintained centarlly and for master data synchronization.

  • How to download Delivering Plant of R/3 Customer Master in CRM BP

    We have successfully downloaded the Plants from ECC to CRM  using the object  DNL_PLANT  which has successfully created BP's for PLants in CRM with BP Role=Plant and have updated the mapping in table  CRMM_LOCMAP.
    Now I want that the Delivering Plant mantained in ECC Customer Master Data (XD02 -> Sales Area Data -> Shipping Tab -> Delivering Plant Field) to be updated in the CRM Business Partners as BP Relationship.
    The BP(Customer BP) should be updated as a BP Relationship "ZPLANT - Has Plant" with BP(BP of the Plant in CRM). This is not happening.
    Can you please tell me the Steps to be performed in both CRM and ECC side to bring the ECC Delivering PLant as Relationship in CRM ?
    Is the Delivering Plant change in ECC Customer Master Data does not gets captured in the  BUPA_MAIN  BDoc ?
    When we change the Delivering Plant in ECC Customer Master Data, a BUPA_MAIN Bdoc  gets triggered  but when we look into the Bdoc we can not find the changed information of the Delivering Plant. I am not usre if this behaviour is right or not.
    There is an OSS Note - 493947 which is quite old and talks about creating a Customer each for all the Plants in ECC and creating a Partner Function for Plant in the Customer Master Data. I am not sure if this process is still to be followed    Or     SAP has given some stadard settings to bring ECC Delivering Plant mantained in Customer Master to CRM.

    To my knowledge oss note 493947 is still relevant

  • Customer Master Text data label display in BEx query

    In my query output i have the customer number and its text displayed. The data comes from customer master infoobject.
    But the label is displayed only for customer number.
    But I need the label for text also needs to be displayed.
    Kindly let me know is there any possibilities to display the label for the text.

    For 0CUSTOMER , name attribute is there so it will work fine, for others like 0MATERIAL, 0COMP_CODE etc. you can follow the steps which i have posted in above reply.
    Use the same steps for 0Material, creation of Z- infoobject with reference char. of 0Material.....
    Create one custom 'z' InfoObject lets say ZCUSTOMER with Reference Characteristic of 0CUSTOMER and add it to the data target, map it with same field for which 0CUSTOMER is mapped and load data into target (DSO, cube) or if you are reporting on multiprovider then assign it.
    Because ZCUSTOMER is created with reference of 0CUSTOMER and mapped with the same source field , ZCUSTOMER will act as copy of 0CUSTOMER.
    In query designer drag 0CUSTOMER and ZCUSTOMER. change display setting
    0CUSTOMER display as Key only
    ZCUSTOMER display as Text only.

    I want to upload Customer master and Vendor master data from legacy using LSMW. I am using SAP standard programs available for the same. I am using internal number assignment in SAP for these masters.
    I case of material master these is a field in MARA named BISMT which is populated with old material no. used in legacy. Is there any corresponding field for customer and vendor master upload?. Moreover is this field automatically populated by SAP report while uploading?.I want to know which old material no. is mapped to which new internally generated number.

    if you are looking for a field in customer and vendor master data that should contain the old (legacy number), take a look at knb1-altkn and in case of a vendor at lfb1-altkn.

    Hi,
    Those fields may be suppressed in the customer master field layout. This functionality is governed by the account grps. Check the accnt grps you will surely find sumthing.

  • LSMW : Customer Master upload

    hello,
    i am uploading customer master data using the standard object : 0050 and program : RFBIDE00.
    I am trying to upload data like Street2, street3 and street 4 which can be viewed in the street address drop down in transacction XD01/02. In my lsmw i am using the mapping for these fields in the structure BIADDR2 where the fields i mapped to are str_suppl1, str_suppl2, str_suppl3.
    but when i try and upload data i do not get these fields updated even though i have given  them in the upload file.
    Please can anyone tell me the reason why it is doing so?

    Hi Swanand,
    We have done the customer master upload using LSMW but with the IDoc variant (message type DEBMAS). You can upload all data you need using this IDoc.

    hello gurus
    I need some help with this pa configuration change. our office in india wants to amend the 2 characterictics in bold in pa transaction kea5. currently they look at origin table - customer master sales data. charac details below No other changes will be made

    business want to change these two characteristics from knvv to pick up the details from sales document order - table vbak for sales office and vbkd for sales district, so it matches with their mcsi. please note a number of changes are required on bw. But I am only concerned about pa changes, my colleagues will pick up bw changes.
    please can I get some help with this configuration task, as I've never configured pa - It appears to be more complexed than regular fico config. I believe it is a fairly small change via transaction kea5, is that correct
    please kindly provide the following information - 5 points below
    1. intend on deleting these two characteristics linked to knvv and then linking to vbak and vbkd respectively.
    2. the characteristice for vbak and vbkd already exist in config kea5, so I don't believe I need to recreate anything new, just pull in the fields, and link to the relevant characteristics.
    3. please can you confirm if I only need to amend kea5 to configure the above scenario? Or are there any other tables/areas in spro I need to amend.
    4. please can you provide me with step by step details on what I need to do to configure this new characteristic and scenario correctly.
    5. finally please can you provide me details of what testing I need to do to test this change.

    Thanks very much for your feedback. I have carried out your configuration via KEDR, and created the derivation rule. Is it really as straight forward and I dare not say that easy, to create a new characteristic value.
    Is there absolutely no additional configuration required via kea0 - Maintain Operating Concern or kea5 maintain characteristic values. I agree we have added this derivation rule and I can to some extent understand what we've done, but in kea5 and kea0, the old characteristic value and fields are still there - as detailed below. So it is still mapping to the old characteristic values, I can only assume this derivation rule overwrites what is in kae5 and kae0, is that correct.

    iam doing lsmw standard input method  customer master ,iam able to populate all the fields except few fields AKONT ,ZTERM,KTGRD ,ALAND,TATYP AND TAXKD are these any special fields y arent they getting populated even KZAZU,AUTLF,KZTLF  arent getting populated can iknow reason ?i have done all  field mapping in proper  way ,do i need to use bapi method ?when should i use bapi method ?points will awarded if answer is reliable,thanking .

    Through direct input i mapped all those fields specified by you and it worked fine.
    Check ur field mapping once and check where it is failing. In importing the data or converting the data. based on that debug that import/conversion program to check where it is failing.
    i think it may be due to problem with field order in the file or something .

    Yes, it's possible.
    At R/3 side, using t-code SM30, configure table vision V_CRMTXTID to map the customer texts ID's of R3, with the CRM ones.
    Something like this (entry example):
    KNA1 0002 'some description' -> BUT000 0002
