Customised file explorer window for Geo-tagged images

Dear All,
I am really stuck on this issue. Did lots of searching but reached nowhere.
I want to launch a file explorer window which displays only geo-tagged images(can be .jpg,.tiff,.gif) in the form of thumbnails. On selecting any of the images, the latitude adn longitude information is extracted from the image. I have found a few helpful links on the latter part(extracting the EXIF data location coordinates) but have no idea about the first part(thumbnailing geo-tagged images in explorer window). Can anyone provide useful links, references or code?

Thanks a lot for that link. I am sorry to be asking this but i have run into problems regarding extracting the latitude longitude information from geotagged images using java. Are the same kind of tags always used in all images for storing latitude/longitude values in the EXIF data? I understand i have to use ImageIO but what tag should i exactly look for while parsing the metadata tree and how? Please provide some related links regarding this.

  • File Explorer Windows Pop Behind

    I've had a few occasions where File Explorer dialogs (e.g., "overwrite existing file?", etc.) pop up behind File Explorer itself.  Normally I use short, wide File Explorer windows, so I usually see a small part of the dialog between windows
    - and of course it flashes the icon on the Taskbar.
    I've heard others are seeing this as well.
    Has anyone found any good workarounds for this errant behavior yet in Windows 8.1?

  • File explorer (windows 8) doesn't show the properties of pdf files such a keywords or tittle. Neither when click on second button. I just see them when the file is opened with adobe reader (file prperties)

    I attach some picture to show the problem.
    Im sorry because the os is in spanish, so i translate for you the fileds names shown
    etiquetas means tags or keywords or labels, as you can see in the first picture at the second row, some file (office pack) show the tags but the selected one doesn't (pdf).
    propiedades means properties. The properties shown are different if I opened from file explorer to acrobat.
    I think there is a compatibility problem with the xmp file (metadata) from pdf file ans windows 8.1 (64bits). I tried to solve it by installing a missing file called ifilter, but the problem continues

    I believe this is all normal.

  • Places doesn't show up for geo-tagged photos from phone (Sony Ericsson)

    So I have a Sony Ericsson T715, which has triangulation geo-tagging for photos, I can see their location through the phone no problem.
    However, when I import them via the Bluetooth File Browser to my Mac and import them into iPhoto '09, their location does not show up the photos seem to hold no information on this.
    Why is this? How should I import them so that this information stays? (Was a reason why I bought this phone.)
    I tried looking at the phone/importing through Image Capture, but it doesn't seem to work... keeps randomly opening iPhoto and showing nothing. In Image Capture it shows the photos, but I can't import them - just says it's importing, but does nothing in the end.

    No one but the people who made the phone if the data is not there then it is not there and it is not an iPhoto issue - it is a phone issue - their tech support is the place to go
    iPhoto handles correctly formatted Geo Date in the correct EXIF fields - getting it there is the soure hardware's job

    PS threadjacking is not the best way to get answers even if it is an iPhoto question - new threads that are on the subject are much more successful

  • How to Create a Dynamic http address that opens the Explorer Window for a List Item When a Button Is Clicked--Currently Trying to Make this Work with Javascript

    I have created a button (via Content Editor) that uses JavaScript to open the Attachments folder of a list item in the Explorer Window in SharePoint 2010. The purpose is to have drag and drop functionality for each list item, having multiple attachments.
    The button works but opens the "Attachments" folder containing all of the other folders for each list item (one folder per item). It seems that when you add an attachment to a list item, SharePoint numbers the folder based on the item's ID. What
    I'm trying to do is take the JavaScript I have and have it run when a button is clicked in a custom form. When it runs, I'm trying to get it to open the "specific" folder for the list item. I have had success creating a hyperlink in the list that
    does this; however, the link WILL NOT work until I use the Content Editor created button that runs JavaScript, that prompts me to click OK to my profile certificate, and then opens the Attachment folder. After that occurs, I can use my hyperlinks without issue
    because I'm no longer prompted to click OK for my cert.
    So I'm trying to take the JavaScript I have and place it in a list item form (custom form) and have it run when a form button is clicked. The problem is I have very little knowledge of JavaScript (did I mention little?) and
    "don't know how to take the "http:" address I have in the script and append to it the list item ID, according to the record I have open."
    So that for any record I open, the script will grab the corresponding record ID (or list item ID) and append it.
    Here's the script I'm working with (which I didn't create but am grateful for):
    <style>
    .httpFolder {behavior:url(#default#httpFolder);}
    </style>
    <script text = "javascript">
       function fnOpenFolderView(){
       oDAV.navigateFrame("https://server/collection/site/subsite/Lists/Sublist/Attachments","_self");
    </script>
    <div id = "oDAV" class = "httpFolder"/>
    <input type = "button" value = "Open Attachment Folder" onclick = "fnOpenFolderView()"/>
    The above script, in the Content Editor, creates a button that opens the Attachments folder for the corresponding SharePoint list.

    Hello Thriggle,
    Thank you for pointing that out. I appended your "GetUrlKeyValue" to the end and it worked. That said, I noticed it doesn't run as smoothly as when I simply click on the Content Editor button I created that resides on the SharePoint List
    ASPX page (not the form). The Content Editor button has the same code, minus the "GetUrlKeyValue". I click it; I get prompted to choose my cert; it opens right up.
    Now go to the ASPX Display form where I dump the code in a table cell. Button appears in cell; I click it; wait; wait; I get prompted for cert; it opens. Do I need some sort of "throttle" for the JavaScript? For instance, I thought before running
    JavaScript, you reference the library first. This code doesn't do that. I'm wondering if there's something more I need to make this run smoothly. Thank you both for getting me this far.

  • IPhoto 09 not recognising locations for geo-tagged photos

    I've been geotagging my photos in iPhoto for over a year now, using HoudahGeo. This works really well and integrates great with sites such as Flickr that support geo-tagged photos.
    When I installed iPhoto 09, it only recognises about 30 photos out of several thousand as geo-tagged. These are mainly photos taken with my iPhone, but also some taken with my Sony camera and geotagged with HoudahGeo.
    I've checked a sample of the ones it does not put in a location (all taken with the same Sony camera) and the Exif data is there with the correct latitude and longitude but iPhoto 09 sees these fields as blank when I do a Photos > Shows Extended Photo Info, the latitude and longitude fields are blank.
    Anyone any ideas what I am doing wrong / how I get the photos to show on the map in iPhoto 09?

    I usually import the photos direct to iPhoto from my camera and then use HoudahGeo to geo-tag the original copies of iPhoto in my library. Prior to iPhoto 9 this is not a big issue as it did not use the geo-tag information directly but with iPhoto 9 it's a big issue for users like me as I'd rather not have to export from the camera to a folder, geo-tag and then import to iPhoto 9 as it's messy to say the least.
    As I noted - this will not work - iPhoto is a database and it keeps data about the photo in its database - as all database programs do - and changing the data elsewhere will not update the database
    Anytime you apply modifications directly to the data in the iPhoto database you are risking corruption and it is recommended that you not ever modify the contents of the iPhoto library
    I use an ATP Photo Finder - http://www.atpinc.com/p2-4a.php?sn=00000414 - which applies the Geocodeing data directly to my photos so when I import them they are complete - it simplifies my work flow a lot
    Surely Apple will have thought of users like me who geo-tag using a GPS external to the camera and provided some easy method of re-reading the Exif data in the photos in real time?

  • File Explorer window in tree control

    Hi all,
    I am trying to get the feel of windows file explorer in a tree control. I was successful somewhat in listing the files, but I was unable to make the parent-child relation correctly. I have attached one jpg file of file explorer. I would like to replicate the same in a tree control.
    I used recursive file list function during my trial.
    Please suggest a good option. (I have seen the NI example, but its too slow and I would like to make it simple string based application(not realtime folderlisting)).

  • Applications and files to remove for a leaner image

    Hi,
    I'm looking to make a leaner image for 10.6.8 to fit on a single layer DVD while still allowing for any future applications I may want to add as I update my "base" image.
    This is for a diagnostic type firewire drive to use when I run into trouble with my base machine.
    Is it safe to simply remove built in applications like Address Book, iTunes, Font Book, etc?
    What packages/files can I safely remove to save alot of space on the eventual image?
    Thanks in advance!

    If you want to use an ext FWHD for your recovery, then better to just use something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! to put a complete bootable backup/clone on it and dispense with trying to force fit stuff onto a DVD.

  • Geo tagging in Nokia Photos

    Hi,
    I have Nokia N 82, v 31.0.016.  For some of my geo-tagged pictures, after syncing with Nokia Photos, if i want to see my geo-tagged picture in Show item in Map View, i am able to see the picture in Map view of Nokia Photos, but in Timeline view, if i try to flip the same photos which is geo-tagged, it will not show the location where it is taken, Is it a bug ? For geo-tagged image why the location is not stored default on tags ?  Will it be useful, if geo-tagged pictures location tag is updated automatically? Or it has to be made as Manual to store the location tag for all the images which are already geo-tagged?  Hope it sounds clear ...

  • CS5 crash when right-clicking on a file in a file explorer

    Every time I go to open or save a file in Photoshop or Illustrator from the file menu, if I right-click an existing file that is showing in the file explorer window for open/save and try to select properties (I often need to do this when over-writing an existing file to make sure the dimensions are the correct file) the Photoshop or Illustrator freezes up and then crashes.
    Does any one else experience this problem?
    Any one know of a fix other than a re-install or "don't do that"?
    Thanks!

    Sorry, thought I posted that this is happening in Win 7. It's strictly happening with Adobe products which use the antiquated Win 95 style file explorers.
    No file permission issues. Doubtfully a virus scanner issue. It's a context menu issue solely with Adobe.
    I can give you the full specs of my PC and software, but I'm really just looking for someone else who's experience the problem. If no one else then I'll try a reinstall. Would just be nice if Adobe CS5 didn't use the crappy old Win 95 style file explorers...

  • File Explorer File Enumeration Slowdown in Windows 8.1 - Why?

    File enumeration in Windows 8.1 appears to be slowing down.
    Here's what I mean:
    On a freshly rebooted system (i.e., with few files in the cache), open a File Explorer window on the root folder of drive C:.
    Select all the files, then right-click and choose Properties.
    TIME how long it takes to finish, and divide the number of files enumerated by the seconds it took to do the enumeration.
    Do it again now that the data is all cached.
    I've always thought this was a decent way to gauge real world file system responsiveness, and in fact it really was a pretty good benchmark up until Windows 8.1 came along.  With Windows 8(.0) and earlier, if you saw more than 30,000 files per
    second counted up, you had a very good SSD setup.
    On the workstation on which I'm typing this, my Windows 7 x64 installation would enumerate about 30,000 files per second the first time, and about 50,000 files per second the second time, from the RAM cache.  I have a very responsive I/O subsystem.
    When Windows 8 came out the numbers were about the same, if not a little better.
    When Win 8.1 was released they dropped BIG TIME.  File enumeration was something like 3 to 1 slower.
    Now, with the updates in past months, they appear to have dropped even further!
    Right now, with a fresh bootup I am seeing just under 6,000 files per second enumerated the first time, and a bit over 8,000 from the cached data.  This is DISMAL by comparison to earlier versions.
    Thankfully, typical file system performance - as measured by how long it takes to do real work on a few files in real applications - doesn't seem to have been affected as much, but then most applications don't enumerate lots of files.
    It seems likely that this enumeration slowdown affects real operations in Explorer beyond just this file count.
    Keep in mind I can run a Windows 7 VM or Windows 8.0 VM on this same hardware and still see 30,000 files/second enumerated inside the VM.  My hardware hasn't degraded.  The older Windows systems are still just as fast.  If
    I run a Win 8.1 VM the 6 to 1 slowdown is obvious.
    That even the RAM-cached directory data can't be run through nearly as quickly in Win 8.1 says that the slowdown is in the file system implementation.
    This isn't a question about why MY workstation is slowing down - it's not.  It's about why WINDOWS is becoming less and less efficient out of the box.  I have measured and compared progressive slowdowns in virtual machine snapshots
    ranging from a fresh, out-of-box installation of Win 8 or 8.1, to one that's been run for years.  Something's becoming less efficient IN THE DESIGN.
    So...
    Why is File Explorer taking longer and longer to simply count up files in folders?
    A corollary question is:  What else is this slowdown affecting?  Explorer doesn't seem as responsive to me as it once did.
    I'd hate to think Microsoft is slipping stuff into Windows to cause it to be slower and slower since its release date, just so they can make it look like the next version is faster.

    Detailed how-to in my eBooks:
    Configure The Windows 7 "To Work" Options
    Configure The Windows 8 "To Work" Options

     the slowdown is in File Explorer, rather than the file system itself.
    Want some more proof?  And proof that your system is caching the data that is needed.  And proof that stuff may be being ignored by WE which should be counted...
    In an elevated cmd window at the desired drive root enter:
    D:\>dir/a/s | findstr "File(s) Dir(s)"
    The surprise for me is the way the pipe seems to work?   Is it really a separate process that doesn't have to wait for the completion of the first stage's output?
    Anyway, I might be willing to time that--in fact, it may be possible to automate its timing--but I am definitely not interested in hanging around waiting for the number of
    minutes that WE takes to be sure I get an accurate measurement--if you know what I mean.   <eg>
    And apparently that would not be a fair comparison anyway.  WE only finds 2/3 in Size of what the dir finds.  I probably need to tweak WE's Options.  Finding only 2/3 of what another procedure is finding seems suspect even if it does
    take an absurd amount of time longer.  The funny thing is that the number of files is almost the same.  So, what does that imply: that 1/3 of the Size was contained by some very few which could not be counted?
    I should probably also try to convert that pipeline to Powershell and see how it does.  That could at least check the dir measurements in one way or another.  TBD.
    BTW I think I am now on a faster processor than I had with my tx2 but this Surface 2 Pro even with 8 GB RAM still doesn't "scream" for me.  I have noticed that its firmware shuts down cores occasionally.
    My guess is that could be due to its lack of cooling.  My tx2 always had its fans running full.  Maybe I will get a different result if I do this test in the winter than now in the middle of summer?   <eg>

  • ITunes opens explorer window when searching for updates or selecting restore for any iOS device.

    When trying to check for updates from within iTunes for any device, or trying to restore a device in iTunes I click the update/restore button and iTunes opens an explorer window for me to browse to the .ipsw file. I am unable to get iTunes to check the Apple servers for the restore/update files.
    Where is this setting stored either in the registry or the iTunes folder?
    I have performed a clean uninstall (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) , have removed my apple preferences that were stored in the AppData folders for each user and have reinstalled and still see the explorer box rather than the check apple for updates dialogue.
    I have a feeling that the particular setting is somewhere in either the itunes library folder, in the registry or in another plist file... but where is the question?

    Have you had any luck in resolving this issue? Seems Apple are a bit quiet on it...

  • Esri Shape-File to Geo-Spatial Image Search

    Dear All
    I am developing a c# desktop application in which user have to provide a Shape-File for geo-spatial image search. I have a back-end database in SQL server 2012 in which I am saving metadata of each image, that also includes lat/ long of corner point of each
    image. Now the user will provide its shape-file from the desktop application and it will searches SQL database geo-spatial images repository to fetch all images that comes inside provided shape-file. Ad I am new to SQL spatial data handling feature and just
    read about STIntersection method available through which this task can be performed.
    The main problem that I am facing is that how can handle shape-file passing from front end application in SQL to make a query that will check each geo-spatial images that whether it comes inside shape-file or not?
    I have also a KML file of each image, will I have to make a shape file of each image and store them in database and then query STIntersection to check whether the shape-files overlap/ intercept each other or not?
    Thanks in Advance

    ok thats nice. I have meta data of my geo-spacial images in sql database. i will get the corner points(latt/long) from there and use the following query to check whether it resides in provided shapefile of not
    DECLARE @g geography;
    DECLARE @h geography;
    SET @g = geography::STGeomFromText('POLYGON((-122.358 47.653, -122.348 47.649, -122.348 47.658, -122.358 47.658, -122.358 47.653))', 4326);
