Customized portal

I want to build e-commerce with ability to customize the view/appearance.. with template or zone system..only for administrator
I am confused how to develop it..
Should I use java bean , custom tag or use include html file...
Anyone can help me...
I plan to use xml too for the content

There are several ways for doing this. I'll outline one possible way. First, I'm not sure what level of customization you are looking at and on what parameters the views would change. In
any case you should probably havea layered approach to this i.e
you could have a servlet listening for requests. Once the request is received the servlet could retrieve the particular user's preferences which may be stored in the form of an XML file. Once these preferences are available, you could now retrieve the parameters based on which the view appearence would change. Based on these a previously designed XSL sheet or a new XSL sheet based on the user's preferences can be created. This can be combined with an XML file which again can be generated on the fly . The two can be combined to produce the required HTML output.
The organization for this process can be a little tricky and you could consider some Xtreme programming techniques like developing a protoype model which is a whole cross section of the application i.e end to end.

Error while loading the custom portal transaction

Hi,
After the recent ITS Patches applied, our custom portal transactions are not work fine.
Some of the fields are displaced from their position and printing in abrupt position of the screen.
Transaction like address change, direct doposit screen... their fields like country key, bank key are not printing in the exact position in the screen.
This problem started only after appling the recently released ITS patches.
It's highly URGENT.. please help.

BPM worklist in custom portal server

Hello
I have extended a domain containing soa, ucm and webcenter with the custom portal template to create a custom portal server. I am trying to integrate the bpm worklist taskflows on a page here. I have managed to get the bpm taskflows in a adf app deployed on a soa server. Most of the soa libraries are targeted to the custom portal server. The page the worklist is displayed on is only displayed to an authenticated user. the page still shows up blank. No errors.
Has anyone here managed to get this working on a custom server?

CWA using customized portal does not work IPAD 2

Hi all,
I have another interesting case that I have been testing for more than a month but it is not working. Cisco provides templates to create the customized portals for LWA or CWA. However, Success Page HTML does not work on LWA and Cisco ISE uses internal default success page.
On my specific case, we need to move from LWA to CWA in order to minimize the number of redirections and the customized portal for login and AUP work fine BUT when the SUCCESS PAGE is presented on the IPAD, the button on the top right corner never changes from CANCEL to DONE even though the Authentication is successful. We modified multiple times the HTML Files following Cisco Templates and the following link (which looks like has an error) with the same incorrect behavior. Only works if I click the go back arrow on the IPAD so I move back to the AUP page (not an acceptable workaround).

In the link, Cisco mentions version 1.2.0.899 patch 8 as the version to be used on the ISE devices running the customized templates. However, we recently moved from 1.1.3.124 to 1.2.1.198 patch 3. I created a brand new VM running 1.2.1.198 patch 3, imported the cisco templates for login, AUP, success and error and I am still getting the same problem on IPAD 2 for SUCCESS PAGE even though I am using Cisco Templates.
I could give a try configuring another VM running 1.2.0.899 patch 8 and use the Cisco templates + IPAD 2 but that is not a good solution.
Have anyone experienced the same problem?

I opened a case with Cisco TAC, let's see what happens. In the meantime, I created a VM ISE which will be running 1.2.0.899 patch 8 so I will upload the Cisco HTML Files on it and see it this option works properly on IPAD 2, IPAD 4, Chromebook, Win 7 and Samsung Tablets.

ISE Custom portal language

Hello all,
is there a way to have a custom portal ( file uploaded )switching depending on the language of the browser used?
I think the only way to have multiple language is to use the default portal.
Any comments?

Scuse me, am french so am probably not clear or make any sense :)
i want 2 portal, one in french and the other one in English.... With french logo/banner only on the french one, and english logo/banner on the english one. Same goes for the Welcome, the instructions etc.
Lets say i have a logo saying: Welcome to Eric World and my other logo is: Bienvenu dans le monde d'eric and i dont want both on the same portal...
The template selection is only available on the Default
the only way i can think of doing this would be with my authorisation profile as in:
if OS=french then portal_french else if OS=english then portal_english but really not sure i can do that kind of condition, with dictionnay attribute etc
in resume, what i wanna do is the same thing as swiching language template with the browser local but NOT template... switch portal!

No more custom portal upload in ISE 1.3?

I'm a missing something really obvious, or has the option to upload and use your own completely custom guest portal been removed ?
From the new Guest Access menu, i can only find the new and improved gui options with customization of logos, colors and so on and a css file to change, but no file upload function ? Seems like a step back to me ?

From what I was able to gather, the two primary reasons were:
1. Customers complaining that it was too complex to get even a basic customized portal going
2. TAC was getting way too many case related to troubleshooting custom HTML portal issues
Not too long ago I completed a deployment where the customer provided the custom HTML portal which was causing the BYOD flow to break (randomly). As soon as we uploaded a portal that was created in Cisco Portal Builder, the issues went away.

LMS 3.2 : issue with custom portal : high CPU

Hi,
Customer has a big issue with LMS.
When he connects to the standard portal, it works fine.
pdshow seems ok.
But when he wants to work with custom portal (portal.jpg), it makes a long time to display information and when he wants select something it hangs.
CPU is very high. He must stoped/restart LMS to have a normal CPU.
I asked him to :
- restart LMS, he made at 14h30
- CPU was ok and he worked with standard portal withou problems but when he tried to put debug for portal CPU increase at 15h30:
Common Services -> server -> Admin -> CS Log Configurations: debug on CiscoWorks Portal, CiscoWorks portlets and CS Home
Process which takes a lot of CPU is tomcat, you will find pdshow.txt, stdout.log and stderr.log.
He tries to go to the custom portal but it hangs, you will find logs from debug : CSHomePage.log and CSPortal.log
he sent me AAD.log because there was " high severity alert".

The most obvious problem is that DfmBroker is down. Check to make sure tcp/9002 is not in user, then try a server reboot. See if the AAD problems go away (and perhaps the CPU problem will as well). If not, post the NMSROOT/objects/local/logs/broker.log.

Custom Portal Services and Web services

Can you please tell me what exactly are "custom portal services" and "web services" with a business like/ real life example?
How do you go about developing deploying and utilizing these services in Portal?

Custom Portal issues

I created three "views". They are called PlantAllocations.aspx, WhereUsed.aspx, and Default.aspx where Default.aspx is just a copy of SamplePortal.aspx from the MockCustomPortalPlugins sample solution that was provided. My issue is when I try to go to the webpage by url for PlantAllocations.aspx (http://pdm-pdev.tyson.com/customPortal/SpecSearchPortal/Views/PlantAllocations.aspx) and Default.aspx (http://pdm-pdev.tyson.com/customPortal/SpecSearchPortal/Views/Default.aspx) I get an unhandled Error. [Please see unhandlederror.png attachment] I go to our application server and pull the error from the Application Log. [Please see applog.txt]. I do not get an error though for WhereUsed.aspx (http://pdm-pdev.tyson.com/customPortal/SpecSearchPortal/Views/WhereUsed.aspx)
For the WhereUsed webpage, that is able to render, the links in the left hand menu to the other two views work. [Please see whereused.png attachment]. When I click on the Default menu option the site redirects to the page but I noticed the url is not what I would expect it to be (http://pdm-pdev.tyson.com/customPortal/SpecSearchPortal/Views/Default.aspx) it's actually:

The url still has WhereUsed.aspx with a View index parameter (?View=1). That's also true for PlantAllocations.aspx. When I click on the Plant Allocations menu option the site redirects to the page but it's url is the following:

From the screen shots I can see that you only create a custom portal. It's name is "Spec Search Portal".
Because you have so many url address:

1.You need create different custom portal for each url.
2. Add profile for each custom portal:
3. Set Portal name for each page(ex.:Default.aspx, PlantAllocations,aspx, and WhereUsed.aspx)
4.please remember to new session and re-login to the application after you have done the above settings.
5.I add a picture. It describes the relationship among URL, custom portal, profile and custom portal view.

Light weight custom portal server install to run webcenter blogs

We are running PS6 UCM, we just leverage blog service provided by webcenter for blog functionality to be implemented.
Is there lighter version of webcenter custom portal server, that we could you just to run blog service and associated (document service) components.
Any pointers in this direction would be helpful.

I don't know which license do you have for WebCenter (Portal, Content etc...).
In case of having a WebCenter Portal license (for document services components) Install WebCenter (extended for WCPortal Framework Applications) and just enable the Services or components that you are going to use (like CustomPortal and UCM servers only).

VSM mods :: User pictures in VSM Customer Portal

I really don't know how much more of you are still using the "old style" VSM Customer Portal (for me the way it looks and behaves are hundred times better than this new silverlight style but it's my personal opinion only).
I don't even know how many years are left until its "retirement".
Anyway I am sharing my experience how it is possible to make the portal a bit nicer and more personalized than it is by default. Of course if you are not against to customize your system a little.
User photos
It's not a long time ago since we have started to store employees pictures in the Active Directory. It is quite nice to see persons photos when receiving emails, when talking with colleagues using Lync or reviewing information on internal SharePoint portal.
Then I thought - why not VSM? It should be not very difficult to attach pictures to a VSM Person record as object (the standard feature by the way) and to display it in the Portal (maybe in the Full Client app as well).
Especially when the method to display a binary picture on a web page has been already tested well since the picture quick preview mod (see my earlier post) implementation.
You may attach the picture to a Person record manually of course, but it's really not a rocket science to import photos from AD user objects (property thumbnailPhoto) and import it to VSM as Person object automatically. And you can even sync these pictures with AD every night in example.
So please feel free to share your notes and improvement suggestions or to ask questions if you are interested in details how to do that. I am not sure whether this is suitable to go in much details publicly but I will always try to help by PM at least.
Or simply you may ask your professional services contact to implement this change in your system if you like it. I am sure they can easily manage that. =)

I wish to create a custom Portal iView. I wish to fulfill the following requirements using this iView:
1) I wish to retrieve the Portal User ID of the user who is currently login in Portal. (Will the IUser class solve the purpose? I know IUser is used in Web Dynpro application.)
2) I wish to append this User ID to another URL (a URL of some other non-SAP application). The URL is something like this:
http://<ABC>/user=
3) Both the above tasks have to be performed in the same iView. And then the iView should automatically be redirected to the new URL (generated in step 2).
I wish to do this without using Web Dynpro. Can someone please help me for this requirement? I would appreciate even if someone knows the solution to only one of the three steps above, and replies to my question.

Can you elaborate on the requirement, what would the content of the portal / site be, how would it be used and where it would be accessed ? While you would not be able to deploy custom application on HCM Cloud you could potentially use Oracle Java Cloud Service to deploy the custom application to and access it from the HCM Cloud.

Custom Portal Runtime Error Page

Hi All,
Where can we define a custom portal runtime error page. I would like to replace the standard red color error message that comes whenever the servlet container gets an uncaught exception.
Is this something that I can put in the web.xml of the /irj application.

Hi Ankur,
The exception handling is in the connection area of the request cycle (see portal developer guide for a description of request cycle).
The connection handles the exception and sends the request to a specific component (a core component) to display the red screen.
In short:
The name of the error component is hard-coded, and cannot be configured.
The component itself is a core component, and should not be changed.
And the connection is also something that is not public.
So the answer is it cannot be done.

IOS 8.0 our apple users and CISCO ISE customized portal [SOLVED]

Hi there guys ,
i wondering why after the update to iOS 8.0 our apple users , cannot
make it to the ISE authentication Portal , we make em connect thru a WLC wich
is redirecting to ISE ( radius server ) the web-auth process,
while if we use the internal portal (PIC2) of wlc 5508 the all process going well
after the update to 8.0 apple IOS , devices can't reach our customized portal
no more.....
anybody experienced the same?

If your issue is resolved you should mark the thread as "Answered" :)
One thing to also consider is CWA (Central Web Auth) instead of what you are doing which is LWA (Local Web Auth). It is always better to do CWA as there are many benefits to it.
