Customizing web.xml

Hi,
We're working with jakarta-struts.
Some configuration parameters are stored in the WEB-INF/web.xml file.
Oracle Lite generates its own web.xml on application packaging.
Does anyone have an idea about merging these two web.xml files ?

  • Changes in iAS6.5's web.xml don't take effect

    After the cust deployed his application he modified some parameters in
    the web.xml file of his application. He then restarted the application
    server after but the changes didn't take effect. Is this the
    expected behavior as they would need to custom web.xml

  • Modifying web.xml for a custom tag

    Hello all, I'm trying to create a custom tag, and I'm having trouble trying to understand some elements of web.xml. Can someone tell me in detail what <taglib-uri> is? I know <taglib-location> is the directory where the .tld file is stored.
    Also, is there anywhere online where I could find out more about the different compinents of web.xml? (I can't find any good websites).
    Thanks a lot.

    <taglib>
         <taglib-uri>/mytags</taglib-uri>
         <taglib-location>/mytags.tld</taglib-location>
    </taglib>That means that your tag libaray definition is located at /root/mytags.tld. Some people put them in the WEB-INF, which would make it /root/WEB-INF/mytags.tld.
    The taglib-uri is how you are going to reference it in your JSP. With the above setup, here is how you would reference in your JSP
    <%@ taglib uri="/mytags" prefix="myTagPrefix" %>
    <myTagPrefix:mySpecialTag/>
    Hope this helps.

  • Access custom variable value in web.xml context-param?

    My requirement or need is to access a variable value either in a class in my Model project or a backing bean in my View project. For example, one variable I need to access is an application server I am integrating with - 'testserver' or 'productionserver' - I want to be able to configure this within an external file so that I do not have to re-compile my application to change the variable.
    I was thinking about placing this variable in the web.xml <context-param> section as:
    <context-param>
    <param-name>servername</param-name>
    <param-value>testserver</param-value>
    </context-param>
    I need to access this value within a class (not a servlet) on an Application Module service method, though if needed, I could access it from a backing bean and pass it to the service method (less desirable.) Is this a good approach and how do access this variable from within a Java class including any imports I need to do (code example)?
    Thanks and Happy New Year!
    Hopefully most everyone is out spending time with friends and family versus stuck trying to complete a project like me...

    I found an example from SRDemo that provides what I was looking for:
    String serverhostaddress =
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getInitParameter("param-name-var-in-webxml");

  • Weblogic.servlet.reloadCheckSecs in web.xml not working

    Given the following web.xml file:

              It seems the weblogic.servlet.reloadCheckSecs property is not taking effect.
              The
              default value of -1 is always used. I did stop and restart weblogic.
              I also trid to set the servlet classpath in the web.xml file with
              weblogic.servlet.classpath
              property and it did not change the classpath for the servlet. It seems that
              other

    Hi All:
    Thanks for all your help regarding the adfAuthentication success_url. Now I am able to configure to make this work. But now I am facing another issue i.e. I am getting 401 Not authorized message when the success_url is pointed to the jspx page.
    Note: I am using custom login module similar to DBProcOraDataSourceLoginModule so my roles are stored in the custom Role class. So I am not sure how to pass this role info to the security in ADF in order to authorize the page to be viewed.
    Could you please help and can you point me to any specific link.

  • Web.xml, struts and ssl

    Hi there,
    on our projects web pages we use struts, to combine the html of our pages with the java code behind. To enable SSL I added a security constraint to the web.xml:
         <security-constraint>
              <display-name>SSL Constraint</display-name>
              <web-resource-collection>
                   <web-resource-name>secured login resource</web-resource-name>
                   <description></description>
                   <url-pattern>/index.html</url-pattern>
                   <url-pattern>*.do</url-pattern>
                   <http-method>GET</http-method>
                   <http-method>PUT</http-method>
                   <http-method>POST</http-method>
              </web-resource-collection>
              <auth-constraint>
                   <description></description>
                   <role-name>authenticatedUser</role-name>
              </auth-constraint>
              <user-data-constraint>
                   <transport-guarantee>CONFIDENTIAL</transport-guarantee>
              </user-data-constraint>
         </security-constraint> Some of our web pages need to use no SSL. So I added (for first testing) a second security constraint to the web.xml and defined which pages should be without SSL:
         <security-constraint>
              <display-name>No-SSL Constraint</display-name>
              <web-resource-collection>
                   <web-resource-name>businesstransaction resource</web-resource-name>
                   <description></description>
                   <url-pattern>*.go</url-pattern>
                   <http-method>GET</http-method>
                   <http-method>PUT</http-method>
                   <http-method>POST</http-method>
              </web-resource-collection>
              <auth-constraint>
                   <description></description>
                   <role-name>authenticatedUser</role-name>
              </auth-constraint>
              <user-data-constraint>
                   <transport-guarantee>NONE</transport-guarantee>
              </user-data-constraint>
         </security-constraint>As you can see, I exchanged *.do with *.go for testing. I simply defined all actions I want to be used without SSL with a .go instead of a .do in the struts.config.
    In principle it works, but there is a problem: The default behaviour for struts seems to be that the name of the new action is posted in the url at the end of the standard starting url.
    Our url starts with https://localhost:9443/client-web/, and whatever action I start, this url text in the browser window never changes, regardless of wether the next action would be protected or not.
    First I thought my url pattern would be wrong, or the user or whatever. But then I found out, that when changing the url in the browser window by hand to http://localhost:9080/client-web/ it works. The web page then is without SSL active. And when I manually change the url while viewing a page that is meant to be SSL protected, the browser automatically changes to the SSL adress.
    But then again, moving to a page without SSL does not enforce the browser to change its adress to the no SSL String. So again, SSL is active though a non secure access would be allowed.
    Anybody has any idea how to change this default behaviour? It would be important to not only tell the server that non secure would be ok, but to actually USE non secure connection automatically.
    The internet explorer is not able to upload files in SSL mode (though any other browser is able to), and our customer insists on using IE. And to tell the users "oh, just edit the line there in the window manually and reload the page will help ... or use Firefox" will not be a suitable solution.
    Regards, Rommie.

    There is a plugin called sslext which will do most of what you need.
    http://sslext.sourceforge.net/
    I think the last time I used it I made some changes to the plugin source so that I could force non-ssl to be the default behavour unless SSL was explictily stated in struts.config, but can't remember for sure. Bottom line is it will do most of what you need and can probably be modified to do the rest without too much trouble.

  • JSP compiler reading the web.xml file?

    Hi,
              I am trying to use the weblogic JSP compiler (weblogic.jspc) to
              pre-compile some JSP that use custom tags. Does the compiler
              read the web.xml file if there is one? In particular the taglib
              elements in that file so that the compiler understands the
              <%@ taglib ... %> directive.
              In the JSP I try to compile I use this statement to declare a taglib:
              <%@ taglib uri="xyz/xyz-taglib" prefix="xyz" %>
              and in my web.xml I have:
              <taglib>
              <taglib-uri>xyz/xyz-taglib</taglib-uri>
              <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/tlds/xyz.tld</taglib-location>
              </taglib>
              When I try to compile the JSP I get the following error:
              Could not parse embedded JSP code: weblogic.utils.ParsingException: nested
              IOException: java.io.IOException: cannot resolve 'xyz/xyz-taglib' into a
              valid tag library.
              Any ideas how I can resolve this?
              In advance thank you for any help.

  • Mime mapping in web.xml not working for csv/excel

    I am using the weblogic 8.1 app server. I want to serve up some static content
    from an "exploded" web application (dir structure instead of a war file). This
    static content includes html files and csv files that cause the browser to give
    an option to the user to open the file in excel or download to disk. I have inserted
    the following mapping inside web.xml in the exploded directory structure...
    <web-app>
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>csv</extension>
    <mime-type>application/vnd.ms-excel</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    </web-app>
    I redeployed the "web application". When I try to access a csv file, instead of
    giving me the save/open dialog, the browser displays the ASCII contents of the
    csv in the browser like an HTML file. Am I missing a step? Is the xml above not
    for the functionality that I am trying to implement here?
    Thanks.

  • exception-type in web.xml does not appear to work

    WLS 60 SP1 (#101616)
              <exception-type> in web.xml does not appear to work. WLS shows standard
              "Internal error 500" page instead of a custom error page. The custom error

              Any ideas? Thanks

    Can you show me some of your code? This works for me.
    Also, you say that you are working with 6.0sp3. Are you sure? sp3 hasn't been
    released yet, except in a very limited beta. (I believe only internally, but I
    could be wrong about that.)

    Hi all,
    I have created a very simple servlet and an index.html file with a link
    to it, then packaged it into a WAR file with the appropriate web.xml and
    ias-web.xml files. I then created an application.xml file referencing
    only this servlet and adding a context root. After deployment via
    "iasdeploy deployapp simple.ear" and cycling the web server, I can reach
    the welcome file (index.html) correctly
    -"http://localhost/NASApp/simple". When I attempt to follow the link to
    the servlet ("simple servlet") the URL ends
    up as "http://localhost/NASApp/SimpleServlet" whereas it should be
    http://localhost/NASApp/simple/SimpleServlet If I type that url in, the
    servlet executes fine.
    I've deployed this into Tomcat and get the behavior I expect. It appears
    that the element in the application.xml file is ignored by
    iAS.
    I'm using iAS SP3 on Win2k (same problem on NT).
    This is such a basic behavior that I can't believe this is an existing

    Any ideas?

  • Success_URL in web.xml not working - Need help

    Hi:
    I developed my whole application in Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2 and all the security are done through custom module. Everything is working fine except one of the part that is success_url in web.xml.
    1. There are total 10 pages in my application independent of each other.
    2. I configured the custom login procedure and it is working fine.
    3. From Jdeveloper if I run any page (i.e. one of 10 pages) it is prompting me to login and after login it is redirecting to the page I ran.
    My issue is that after the login is completed as in step 3, I want the page to be redirected to predefined page called UserResp.jspx. I don't want to redirect to the page from where the login page was called. As per the notes in the ADF document, I configured the success_url in the adfAuthentication servlet as below. But after login it is not redirecting to the success_url but it is redirecting to the page from where the login was prompted.
    Do I need to perform any other step for this success_url to work. Could you please guide.
    Below is the details of my web.xml.

  • WEB-INF/web.xml not found exception for deployed war on server startup

    Weblogic server is throwing an exception indicating that it can't find
              web.xml on startup when a particular war file is deployed. The exception
              and my web.xml follow below.
              There are some other strange elements to this:
              1) The deployed war in the application directory has a valid web.xml in the
              web-inf folder.
              2) The war in the servers temp directory corresponding to my war contains
              only the files found in WEB-INF in the deployed jar, but not those found in
              web-inf (case matters). These files are in the root of the war, not in a
              WEB-INF folder!
              3) The servlets in the war do load and are invokable.
              4) If I redeploy the jar while the server is still running, I get no
              exception, and the temp war then has the correct structure (with a WEB-INF

              Interesting.
              This shouldn't happen though.
              Can you stop the server delete the .wl_temp_do_not_delete
              dir? Let's see if that makes any difference.

              4) If I redeploy the jar while the server is still running, I get no
              exception, and the temp war then has the correct structure (with a WEB-INF
              folder and contains web.xml).

  • Problem in uri references in web.xml

    There are quite a few instances where external URIs are referenced in various sorts of files in WebAdmin. For example:
    index.jsp:
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" xmlns:bean="BEAN" xmlns:logic="LOGIC" xmlns:html="HTML" xmlns:nested="NESTED" xmlns:custom="CUSTOM" xmlns:c="C" version="1.2">
    web.xml:
    <web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd"
    version="2.4">
    If Tomcat is running behind a firewall where the URIs are unreachable, it is very likely that Tomcat/WebAdmin will not start or will, at best, start in an impaired state.
    Cache all these external reference to local files.
    If it is, then download the external reference and update the URI to point to a local resource. For example:
    old:
    http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd
    new:
    http://emg-vip:12300/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd

    thank you for these possible problems and solutions.
    But are you really sure this problem occurs ?
    And URI is not an URL and normally the resources referenced by the URI's are not downloaded anyway.

  • Struts web xml

    Hi there,
    I want to define my own error pages. Someone told me that it's possible to define them in web.xml
    I use this somewhere in my code:
    response.sendError(HttpServletResponse.SC_UNAUTHORIZED);
    I want to keep this, but I want to make my own styled page.
    Can someone help me?

    in your web.xml for each error
    <error-page>
    <error-code>404 (500,...)</error-code>
    <location>anurlto your custom page </location>
    </error-page>

    I am trying to use a JAAS Custom Login Module with a customized logon.jsp (and Struts). So I defined a FORMAUTH Filter in orion-web.xml to intercept the logon.
    However, Oracle 10g 10.1.3.2 did not deploy it. Why? How can I fix this problem?
