Cut and delete (paste and copy)

Question

Hello all.
I have written a simple Spreadsheet application using the JTable. I had thought i correctly implemented the cut/copy/paste and delete methods as when i selected a range of values, and click cut, the would disapear and paste when i selected them to. However, if i entered any values in the cell where i cut them from, the values would not be stored, and disapear as soon the the cell selection changes. I even printed out the values in the table model, and they are not stored there. The same applies to delete. The original values are deleted, but the cells which previously contained the deleted values will no longer accept any input. I have posted the delete method below. OK try this..IN LR5 you are in the LIBARY module  (OK with me this far)
you have images there (in your catalogue) on the bottom you have the strip of images from the folder you have selected on the left..in my case  Photos, years, topic so Photos-2013-vermont.  (we all got this so far?)
Now on the bottom of the sreen you have the strip witht he images on in..if I select 1 or several in a group I then go to EDIT on the top left (iMac) where it lists FILE,EDIT ect if I select edit ..COPY,CUT,PASTE and DELETE are greyed out OR if I right click on the mouse it greyed out..
In simplist terms if you wanted to DELETE NOT REMOVE an image what procedure would you do??? when I do that DELETE option is greyed out
